Tyler Durden's picture

As we cross into the European close, commodity markets are surging higher led by Copper and Silver. This is happening as the US Dollar strengthens and stocks leak to the lows of the day...

and from this morning's cash open...

I think it's also a lot to do with 3 month contract expiry.... !

Anyone else note that there's always the big surge between 4 and 6 months towards the expiry - A good investment strategy if I ever saw one

Things seem the least logical just before the big events.

This is where we are now, just as in 1999 (secretaries @ dot.coms making more than neurosurgeons), just as in 2007 (real estate agents making more than anesthesiologists), and just as the case has been since approx 2011 (oil boom truck drivers making $130k/year; technology/app "investors" and developers getting obscenely wealthy off of profitless - and sometimes revenue-less - platforms; BRICS un-BRICing for many reasons).

I've seen this play 3 times before, and it always ends the same, with years of accumulated malinvestments being vaporized in a rapid unwinding.

When things become this untenable, with so many illogical balls in the air on a global basis this time, even "powerful" central banks reveal themselves to be quite impotent when the tide turns.

What you're suggesting is a trade strategy, not an investment strategy.

Strategy calls for a clear plan and BTFD isn't planning.......

At this juncture of the Ponzi experiment, a good investment strategy does not involve paper claims of any sort, IMHO.

Strategy calls for a clear plan and BTFD isn't planning.......I would say a good strategy is to always go with the long term trend "buying dips or selling into rallies along the way"

What's your plan then?

Get completely out of the market(which I did a few years ago). Everything I invest in has a title of deed or a bill of sale that can be verified. I still have a handful of MUNI's but they'll finish out by next year.

Yep, fair enough if you want to be pedant, but equally, Korner is spelled with a "C"

As is Cunt

Curious that metals and commodities at times have tracked the dollar.  It's almost as if the rest of the world is viewing metals/commodities as real currency.

Who would have thought that no change in policy would have little impact? Craziness.

Algos do not understand policy.  They understand words...especially the ones fed to them 16 nano-seconds before they are released to people.
