First Images Of Germanwings Crash Debris Emerge; White House Says "No Indication Of Terrorism"
While the White House, seemingly an expert in determining airplane crashes causes within hours if not minutes of the accident (see flight MH-17) has already opined on the tragic crash of the Lufthansa Germanwings airplane:

This will hardly be comfort to the families of the 148 people who lost their lives the crash which took place in the south Franch alps, and where the first images of the debris have just been released, via Airlive.net
Further evidence that the airplane crash was not a midair disintegration is that while the vertical airspeed was susbtantial, it wasn't freefall, and it took the airplane about 10 minutes to drop from a height of 11.5 to its final resting place some 2 kilometers high in the alps (via Zeit).
And here are all the latest crash developments from AP:
A local lawmaker says the debris from the plane crash in the French Alps that killed all 150 people on board is spread over 100-200 meters (110-220 yards).
Gilbert Sauvan, president of the general council of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, told the AP that "everything is pulverized."
He said the largest pieces of debris are the size of a small car.
Sauvan said no one can access the site from the ground, but that helicopters are circling the area to get information and 500 firefighters and gendarmes are in the area.
The boss of airline Germanwings says the plane went into a long descent before it crashed into the French Alps, likely killing all 150 people on board.
Germanwings CEO Thomas Winkelmann said the plane began descending again shortly after it reached its cruising height following takeoff from Barcelona Airport. The descent lasted eight minutes, he told reporters in Cologne. Radar and air traffic control contact broke off at 10:53 a.m.
He said the pilot had more than 10 years' experience working for Germanwings and its parent airline Lufthansa. Airbus said the A320 was delivered to Lufthansa in 1991.
Germanwings said the passenger manifest included two babies. Officials believe there were 67 German nationals on board.

1) There were (according to witnesses cited in the Daily Mail) fighter jets in the vicinity, not quite clear if it was under escort
2) It's air speed was about 400 knots at time of impact - this was a controlled descent, in no way a freefall
3) The air traffic controller's account appears to be being contradicted straight away.
4) White House on it like a flash.
So following the money, what's been going on lately?
1) European nations have pissed off the White House viz joining China's alternative world bank
2) Greece and Germany are looking likely to blow the Euro and the banks apart
3) This does help even the score between Boeing and Airbus.

However, that was a small plane and there were survivors to rescue. The rescue was engineered by a distant relative of mine, a swiss pilot.
Sadly, this time, there are no survivors but the recovery of bodies and debris will be a delicate operation to say the least, given the terrain.

I agree it was a French-made aircraft that crashed in France. The French and Germans will be able to figure it out. The French build airliners every bit as good as Boeing, if not better. Why not just offer condolences and any help needed. I really am tired of being ashamed of the assholes in the White House.

I read accident reports after the incident has been adequately anylized. I made my mind up years ago to not trust an A300 (no longer in service) or A320 to make it to a safe landing on a runway. Too many glitches in the fly-by-wire software and controls. In incident after incident, the aircraft itself (and the inability of the pilots to sort it out with the time/altitude available) is to blame for the accident. I suspect that may be the case here, but will wait for the report.
It will be interesting to compare the time it takes to get the "black boxes" analyzed of this accident with those of MH17. I'm sure the UK will be able to assist since it has prior experience. Anyhow, I'm sure by next year sometime we might get a report on this sad incident.

AOA indicator malfunctions and the AC controls thinks it's a stall so the plane noses over and keeps going down until either the pilots shut off the controls and pulls up or the plane hits the ground. Sad.
If it had been terrorism, there would be nothing left of the plane, no bodies, no flight data recorder etc.

8 minutes from 38000 ft to 6000 ft at impact that is a vertical speed descent rate of 4000 feet per minute (loss of 32000 ft in 8 minutes = 4000ftm or 80km/h)
The standard rate of descent for cruise descent or a controlled landing is a vertical speed (VSI) of 500 feet per minute or 10 km/h.
According to the numbers from ground radar the Ground speed or forward speed over ground (GS) was between 900 km/h and 700 km/h just before impact.
AU9525 Airbus seemed to have a controlled flight into ground, a controlled descent for 8 minutes with a 4000 feet per minute descent rate over the 8 minutes.
4000 ftm is a vertical speed of ca 80km/h and points to a severe sideslip, (inverted after stall ?) or at the very least a very unusual flight attitude
of an otherwise fully intact aircraft were large surfaces like the fuselage face relative airflow, as in a sideslip.
A sideslip is often used by Aerobatic Pilots to attain a rapid descent rate or high 4000ftm vertical speed (VSI)
while still maintaining a high ground speed (GS)or forward Air Speed (ASI) without stalling.
For whatever reason, this was a controlled flight into terrain in my humble opinion.
