That Ain't No Margin Debt: THIS Is Margin Debt
We find it amusing how many people try to read into the tealeaves when looking at the NYSE margin debt (especially since the real leverage long ago left the CNBC TV studio in downtown Manhattan, as explained before), when the real action is half way around the world. Because, in the immortal words of Crocodile Dundee, "That is not margin debt. This is margin debt."

Can I see a LOG chart on that?... Oh Wait! Meh ~ Just make a hockey stick out of the log & we'll call it a day!

But..... I thought china as going to take over the world with their exponential growth that will keep going forever?
House of cards, just like the west.
House of bamboo.
Ironically, despite appearances, bamboo is very strong. Might want to choose another metaphor.
Leaves me speechless. Then again, as we have learned in the past six years, debt can expand exponentially with no one ever facing any consequences for their choices, physical limitations have no meaning for reality any more, and the status quo will never change for all eternity, so we can all sleep peacefully at night.
Seriously, $40 billion, aint that much.
It's less than 1/10th of current NYSE Margin Debt.
ZeroHedge needs to screen these stories better. It's becomming a joke. Some of the lazy/stupider Tylers need to pull a "dissapearing neck shot" and improve the signal to noise around here.
I don't get this article. US$40 Billion on the Shanghai and Shenzen market and US$450B at NYSE. The curve on the China chart is because margin trading is new there. It is still 1/10 of the size of NYSE. So not really a story...
Ma Jin Tu Hi
hory shit !
Ho Li Zhut.
I'm making over $7k a month working part time. I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true and has totally changed my life. This is what I do... www.globe-report.com
To the moon Awice...
That didn't make sense.
A reference to Ralph's (Honeymooner's show) popular saying "One of these days, to the moon Alice!" In chinese of course.
MOAR debt please...(in the voice of Tiny Tim "Geithner")
Something about that chart,.... reminds me of waking up in the morning....:)
What, was that your boner?
Doesn't seem to be able to keep it for long...
Is that margin in your pocket big boy or are you just glad to see me
It's debt.
y axis should be labelled 'batshit crazy index'
Ho Lee Fuk
pair-row-bar-ric !
I think that's only about 25 billion US dollar. what's the problem?or 40B according to Pinto with better math skills.
su-tan-able
And the U.S. sold out production and career employment to China, and we can't even make the electronics or mine the rare Earth metals for all of our technological marvels - military and otherwise.
So who is holding the bigger knife, regardless of margin debt?
The psychopaths who run China are playing silly games with the psychopaths who run USA, UK, Russia, Japan, Germany.....
it's a long list.
Countries are just a way of dividing humanity into easily exploitable groups.
Fiat money is destroying the fucking planet - everything else is noise.
It's China. Shizzit is not as expensive and stuff.
Bang Da Ho!
Something tells me that, in the spirit of Reaganomics, China is setting up for a "race to the bottom" vs the USA. When that day comes, I think China wins.
Of course, Reaganomics was more like "spend till you drop", mainly in defense. Russia's economy impoloded before the US economy did making the US the winner. It's a little different this time around.
YEEHAW!
looks like a decision
or new policy was adopted
mid 2014 or so
Ha ~ looks like PBOC gave a blessing (or green light, snicker...)
250B RMB is only 40B USD.
Is that enough to crater the Chinese market?
Hurry, someone get Yellen on the phone. We need a quick batch of ETB cards sent to China right away!
