Lufthansa CEO Press Conference - Live Webcast

Tyler Durden's picture

Having now discovered more of the disturbing facts about the last 30 minutes of the Germanwings flight, the Lufthansa CEO holds a press conference...

As AFP reports,

The co-pilot of the Germanwings jet that crashed in the French Alps was on the job since September 2013 and had 630 hours of flying experience, the parent company, German flag carrier Lufthansa, said on Thursday.

The co-pilot "was First Officer at Germanwings since September 2013," a Lufthansa spokeswoman told AFP.

Prior to that, he had been trained as a pilot at Lufthansa Flight Training in the northern German city of Bremen and had 630 hours of flying experience under his belt.

By comparison, the plane's pilot had more than 10 years experience and 6,000 hours of experience flying the Airbus A320 model, Lufthansa revealed previously.

She said Lufthansa could neither confirm nor deny reports that one of the two pilots on the doomed flight was locked out of the cockpit before the plane went down.

Press Conference due to start at 0930ET...

Evidence is cumulative.  We need that other black box,

but seeing a picture of that nappy headed critter made my heart sink.

Suicide no.  Terrorism, probably.

They said they could hear the guy breathe lol, I cant fucking hear anything on the fucking jet planes with all the noise, especially with that loud hiss of the AC system.

Remote control? There's a reason no pilot will side with you on this theory. For one, because it's impossible. Additionally, it's impossible. Thirdly, impossible.

Google Boeing Uninterruptable Autopilot [used to hijack MH370]

Standard equipment on all Boeing aircraft

Intended [ostensibly] to reduce hijackings by transferring control of the aircraft from the flight deck to a remote location.

New autopilot will make another 9/11 impossible
By CHRISTOPHER LEAKE
Last updated at 22:37 03 March 2007
A hijack-proof piloting system for airliners is being developed to prevent terrorists repeating the 9/11 outrages.
The mechanism is designed to make it impossible to crash the aircraft into air or land targets - and enable the plane to be flown by remote control from the ground in the event of an emergency.

The report says that there was calm breathing until the end. I think the co pilot was off the rails more than a remote control crash.

HOWEVER. Speaking of which, we know that these things can be remotely accessed, so why wasn't that employed to SAVE these people?

I doubt they can hear a dude breathe with all the cabin noise on a jet and the hissing air system.  They are covering up for some shit.  Would  be nice to know who was on that plane exactly and maybe they did remotely crash it, or are covering up for Airbus to keep its orders and stock price up.

Heh, over the past decade almost every fatal Boeing or Airbus crash has been classified as some kind of "human factors" pilot, air traffic control, or maintenance fuck-up. The aircraft are indeed very reliable but the companies also have a considerable influence over accident investigations. Lots of corporate & tax revenue on the line.

This is powerfully illustrated by the fact that people who try to make it a better place typically become treated as either a nuisance or as villains.

Is it just me or does sucide seem just to far fetched?

They said the last 10 minutes he could hear his breathing as normal, even when the other pilot kept knocking on the door, + hearing the passangers scream.  Don't you think if it was suicide he would react differently?

Why? What if he just set the plane on it's course and just meditated while it crashed? Who knows what suicidal people think. My daughter's God mother seemed perfectly okay until one day she stopped her car in the middle of a bridge, ran over and jumped off. Suicidal people just aren't right in the head.

I agree, suicide seems unlikely; why take out so many people in the process.  He could have done this in the privacy of his home at any time.  They heard the guy breathing; I thought maybe he could have been passed out or something but having deliberately locked the pilot out of the cockpit ... I don't know. This guy might have had some issues he didn't speak of or document anywhere and the truth may never be known.  I would LOVE to know if he was on any sort of medication, especially one of the more fucked up drugs to treat depression or anxiety.  You know.. the ones where you see people frolicking happily in a field while the narrator lists of 200 side effects.

Terrorism doesn't make much sense because generally terrorists are trying to make a statement, political or otherwise. With nothing being said by this guy (that we know of), the tragedy (as sad as it is) didn't do anything to advance a cause, agenda, etc.

And would the name of the co-pilot be ... Muslim sounding?  And Or was this person a convert to Islam?   When officials off the bat start by saying it was NOT terrorism related, in all probability certain details would lead to different conclusions...

The only problem with that theory is Lubitz is a Jewish not muslim surname, which explains why it was not called terrorism.

No doubt it would be best for the World if they can find some way to link it to terrorism.  Probably spawn a new Govt or UN agency, more jobs and less freedom.

I'm very surprised the copilot didn't utter a word during this whole descent(9 minutes) into the ground.  The fact he had to physically disallow the captains entry via the cockpit door mechanism switches means he was coherent.  Considering he didn't give a shit about the other 149 passengers why didn't he aim the nose into a crowded mall or tall building as well ??  Too many unanswered questions.

Indeed. Or why didn't he just nose dive?  Why a controlled descent?
