The World's Greatest Oil Chokepoints, And Why Yemen Matters
About half the world's oil production is moved by tankers on fixed maritime routes, according to Reuters. The blockage of a chokepoint, even temporarily, can lead to substantial increases in total energy costs and thus, these checkpoints are crucial to global energy security. While Hormuz remains the largest chokepoint (and along with Bab el-Mandeb explains why Yemen matters so much), Malacca (as we noted previously) is quickly becoming another area of potential problems.
And while Yemen is key for The Strait of Hormuz...
With Bab el-Mandeb even more specifically problematic if Yemen tensions get too extreme...

Straits of Malacca...
Malacca is a bad word in Greek, and it sounds racist too.
Retitle...
The World's Greatest Oil Chokepoints, And Why the Price of Oil is Definitely Going Back Up.
...it is China's growing presence near The Strait of Malacca that is perhaps most worrisome for the global energy order...
Or rather, it is completely understandable why China would want an increased military (naval) presence in Malacca Strait, given their dependence on imported oil. Or is it only the US which gets to have spheres of influence, national interests, military bases in most other countries, patrolling the world's oceans as "the world's greatest force...for good"?
Oil chokepoints and pollution would not matter if this powered our cars and homes:

This should very inexpensive to operate since no fuel is consumed. They have the potential to be more reliable, since there are no moving parts. Also, they are silent, which is nice for home use.
If an individual in a garage can build one, surely a large corporation also can. But, if they don't then we will.
"Or is it only the US which gets to have spheres of influence, national interests, military bases in most other countries, patrolling the world's oceans as "the world's greatest force...for good"?"
it is only the u.s.
same goes for overthrowing governments, droning suspicious young men (and boys and old men and women and children too small to tell which sex, etc.) and imprisoning/assassinating whomever.
however this is not the best one.
the only one that gets to do it to the u.s. with impunity?
come on, you know.

Here's my wild-assed speculation of Why Yemen Matters:
Meet the Yemen-Somolia Jurassic Rift - six billion untapped barrels of high quality crude oil and counting.
Hey - that's almost the exact same places Saudi-backed AQAP was camping out. How about that!
Yemen is kind of like Saudi Arabia's version of the Palestinian concentration camp called Gaza in Israel. And just like in Israel and Gaza, the Saudis want the God Damn Yemeni OIL for themselves - it's not suppose to belong to their Yemeni prisoners. Do you figure maybe the Houthis know about the oil that Hadi was going to give away?
6 billion and counting? That's hardly enough to put a drill into the ground.
You're right. That's why nobody will ever bother to drill Bakken - USGS says there's only 7 billion there.
Watch out what you wish for. . .
Xibalba, please feel free to indulge in self induced fornication.

I'm making over $7k a month working part time. I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true and has totally changed my life. This is what I do... www.globe-report.com
No......! The sooner we stop relying on foreign oil the better. The Energy Department was originally created rid ourselves from the dependence on foriegn oil..... What the EfF happened to that mandate.....? Why are you so willing to agree to incompetence.....?
We get less than 8% from the Middle East and that is dropping. What was your point?
sorry but you are increadibly stupid. Everything is based on 'ool. Just look around you. That keyboard you are typing crap on is made outta oil, boy! Damn, some seriously ignorant people!
Yeah, like windmills, tech from several hundred years ago. The US could like totally generate all its electricity with windmills but it would require an area equivalent to Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona.
My first hedge in 2015/16. $150 barrel
Wait till Tyler starts reporting on the EIA figures showing January production falling now.
well we just kissed goodbye to $40 area.....

Fuck man... That brings back memories...
Back in the day [in the mid 80's] I was a DJ in Los Angeles... Worked at the Whiskey - A -Go -Go on 'dance nights' [DJ spinnin nights]. that they weren't runnin live UNKNOWN bands like Motley Crue & Guns & Roses...
I got hired all over town to do private parties [mostly fucking USC frat boy parties], but also did a Halloween party at MAX BAER's house... In... You guessed it... BEVERLY HILLS...
At the end of the night, the dude was all coked out, but he PAID ME & TIPPED me very well... Totally cool dude...
A fucking bankroll of HOT 80's chicks at that party I remember... Hair all teased out dancin to Gloria Estefan 'CONGA'...
~~~POINT IS~~~
I kinda doubt anyone of dem HOES... Today... Is concerned about "The World's Greatest Oil Chokepoints, And Why Yemen Matters"Just sayin'
Could be a lot of them dudes and hoes, as creative and imaginative as they were, ... well they might not be alive or in total working order as far as conservatives would say.
I see a lot of Conservatives here.
Maybe we become partly more conservative with age.
I don't know... maybe creatives make it big or go to obscurity.
Did you know you could shut down Australia in about 28 days if there was a blockade.
No oil reserves, but plenty of overpriced housing to keep the place running.
100% of the oil refined and consumed in New Zealand is imported. New Zealand does have some offshore oil production, but the one local refinery can't handle the grade of oil produced locally, so all of that is exported. I doubt NZ would last 28 days. So beef, lamb, wool, lumber, and milk powder shall flow in abundance to those who produce the oil and secure its safe passage across the perils of the seas.
That reminds me I pulled off a highway and bought a sheepskin with the wool on it from New Zealand one year.
I wonder where I got that thing. It wasn't expensive really, but after sitting on it in my car it got matted and looked a little sweaty or something.
But it was a beautiful dark brown wool.
Do NZ people think about energy like Danmark. I saw a video where Danish people have heat pumps and pump water into the earth for cooling or heating, they have fiber pellets or something to use for heating barns, they use solar, they use wind, they reuse material or waste to heat or create energy.
I heard that Islands off of Australia were pretty good living.
NZ is self sufficient for electricity generation. Hydro, local coal and wind are all used. There are electric trains in some areas. But the economy as it exists now is utterly dependent on diesel fuel and gasoline for transportation. If the funding were available, a transition to a fully electrified urban mass transportation system could be done within 20 years. A greatly expanded rail network could get the freight off the roads. But how does one do forestry or farming without diesel? What about rural areas away from the rail lines? Back to horses? The rural areas are full of old people who expect ambulances to come to their door. Without liquid fuels, it would be TEOTWAWKI for NZ.
Please take a look at videos from Danmark about these technologies.
I am nit smart. But the Scandinavians are doing the work you need to do.
Good luck.
look east, young man:
You know Yemen matters because the U.S. and allies are attacking it.
The plan is that a proxy war between Iran and Saudi Arabia will lead to a real war, and the desired ZWO outcome is that both countries destroy themselves.
A familiar globalziogangbankster refrain.
The Saudis are pretty vulnerable to a 'colour' revolution themselves.
They are playing with fire, literally, if they piss off their Shiite population.
Some pretty vulnerable pipelines and facilities.
definitely - as in Bahrain, the Saudis pretty roughly handled Shia protestors, killing some - and of course, the US had no objection to that, nor to the suppression of the Arab Spring in Bahrain...
But that's a real powder keg, and they really don't have very many refineries..... they start killing hundreds of civilians in sw yemen, you might see an expansion....
I agree. I don't keep up on Saudi History or know the old history.
I was just told that the Saudi Royal Army or Royal Force are there to protect the King and Princes from the Population.
That sez a lot to me. Plus I don't like Fascist and the Religious system is Fascist to me. Patriarchs rule and tell everyone what rights they have.
So the Boss is thinking there are big problems in the home oil patch.
Oh what to do Oh what to do?
Any ideas? anybody? Maybe something with a W.
The boss might get behind something like that.
Off Topic: Just in breaking news about the so called German suicide pilot. At his house where the pilot lived, was found " He was listed on the letterbox with another person named Goldbach."
Now I would hardly think much of this, except that some Tweets this morning coming out of Pro-Russian Tweeters were offering the possibility that the plane crash scenario was simply too crazy to believe as it is being sold by the media. Several fairly level headed Tweeters I follow, asked if perhaps there was more to this German plane being crashed at this point in time. What they hinted at was that the crash was a false flag aimed at letting Germany's Merkel know that if she did not get onboard with the US war on Russia, the US secret services could make many bad things happen. Then I have rolled this idea around in my mind, wondering could there actually be more to this than a simple co-pilot goes mad and crashes a plane full of screaming women and children over a period of many minutes. Suicides nose dive to get it over with, not glide long and slow into a mountain, all the time hearing screams and howels from the passangers. No, this whole idea smells. And now with the Co-Pilots live-in being a seeming Zionist, I wonder even more.
As always, I could be totally wrong. But don't you think a lot of weird plane crashes are going on.
The voice recorder from the German flight took 2 days to go public. MH-17 after nearly a year has not made it into public yet! How can that be?
Your question is easy Jack, 'they' don't want us to hear it. A bit too informative.
Ukraine is not really important to Obama but TTIP is and Germany is twitching on that too.
Jack,
Normally I would tell you to change the brand of single malt Scotch you are drinking.
But in this day and age, very little can be dismissed as the simple ramblings of the insane.
I mean.... who would have thought America would elect Barry O'Bummer TWICE?
who would have thought that Major Intelligence Operations in the USA could have been lifted right off the page of Tom Clancy Novels?
But Check out Debt of Honor and Rainbow Six.
the same stupid ppl who elected bush twice....
But booosh only wanted to fundamentally transform the rest of the world. At least he didn't hate his own country.
new to me, that elections matter.
the guys are being selected by Sledon Adelsohn and Kochs.
You have a point. It could be a guy went over the deep end. There's a trend in that direction right along with rising occurrences of unexplained plane crashes. But if this crash was rigged to look like a crazy co-pilot locked the captain out, then they had to fudge the black box recording. Which is not out of the question to someone like me who has come to believe that the Malaysian flights were purposefully brought down by external forces. They had to alter there MO at some point.
And we sure won't be getting corroborating testimony from the captain that he was indeed locked out. How convenient.
There's a trend in that direction right along with rising occurrences of unexplained plane crashes......as well as 30 some weird banker nail gun, face plant, multiple shot suicides. Yeah. No trend here. sarc/
I was thinking the same thing as Jack Yesterday pretty much.
- The NATO War against Russia is asinine. I can't see common people not stringing up Leaders after losing business, convenience, Jobs, Savings, it is like World Wars all over again
- I predicted Ukraine could destroy NATO within 5-6 years when VICHY DC started the Spin and Nuland Tapes came out
But consider how Automated and Linked Airplanes are. It would be common sense for CIA/NSA to learn how to tap into the Automatic Pilot and take control of other Airbus Control Systems.
Motives:
- Booz Allen Employee could have been a threat to USA, and not sure what her husband did for a living, 56 years old was she, that is like Senior Level, with Senior Manger Access... but we don't know what she did for a living
- USA has had Control of Europe in Many ways since 1945, power, control, Empire, Influence, Career Hubris like Dick Cheney, The people of Europe have been controlled with Stay behind Armies, False Flags, Political Influence... If Neocons want a Cold War or a Hot War with Russia or even just to oust Putin with control of Ukraine, then Neocons will do it
- War games deal with many things, and prepare for things like Twin Towers and Bldg 7 falling down or attacked and have to do with international events like kidnapping Israeli Sports Teams and with Hijacking Airliners, just review a Tom Clancy Book for war Game ideas, they perfectly predict much of the last 30 years of history
Also I tend to agree with Jack Burton about the Middle East Chaos being part of a US-UK-NATO-Israeli Plan, that it could be all planned out and controlled as an operation, and that it is all going as the plan says, even the huge US Public Debt doesn't bother these crazies, even the US Consumer Wealth and Income Losses don't bother the Neocons, the plan is to print money from Fiat and push Super Power Status in a controlled Manner, but it is Geopolitical, Financial, Economic, Resource Driven, Corporation Supporting, and a MIC on Steroids.
Motives: Sure, a direct threat to Germany and other NATO Countries to stay on message and stick to the plan.
Who can take over a Pilot? Mind Control or Coercion can be done by many countries and the Overbearing Pilot may have been part of the plan (expendable).
Who can take over the Plane and maybe lock out the Pilot: I would say the USA, and as far back as 2001. In the old days of World War II the pilot probably didn't leave the cock pit to pee, but today it is taken for granted, right?
hey would be nice if u would make your twitter acct public
would luv to follow u there...
like what u write all the time..
I agree with you. The story as presented by the Corporate Owned Media doesnt pass the smell test. How convinient for them they cANNOT find the other black box. Once again we are being sold lies.
JFK Jr.'s plane took a steep nosedive and it wasn't suicide or pilot error.
That's what happens when a mind controlled co-pilot cuts the fuel and noses over.
It wouldnt be hard to shave that corner of Yemen and widen it up a little there
TWN's Claims are friggin' ridiculous.
I also didn't know the Sultan of Brunei has Naval Forces and Air Forces to assert it's claims, but what do I know...
So I guess USA would need at least 11 Battle Carrier Groups to keep the seas peaceful and trade routes open.
- 8 Total to watch each Straight or choke Point
- 2 Total to rotate into Dry Dock or Refit
- 1 Total to roll to whatever War or hot spot
Problem is you can have 3 Hot spot small wars at one time and you might need 3-4 to Rotate to Dry Dock at one time.
So obviously you have to use a Battle Carrier Group for more than one Straight or for a Straight and a Regional War.
Navy does goat stuff.
Brilliant, bomb Yemen to salvage oil prices AND you get to sell more military hardware, maybe even take over more land for pillaging. A win-win for the US and Saudi Arabia to keep this terminally ill market alive just a bit longer.
If the US drops more bombs freedom to Yemen, we will not have to worry about the Yemen chokepoint.
LOL,
It's funny all the poster now looking for a oil bull market. They have no clue. Just like they missed the oil collapse.
No matter who wins this senseless war, the straits will have to be open for the victor to profit. A strait would only be shut down temporarily.
