Guest Post: The Only Truly Compliant, Submissive Citizen In A Police State Is A Dead One

Anything other than immediate perfect servile compliance will be labeled as resisting arrest, and expose you to the possibility of a violent reaction from me. Americans as young as 4 years old are being leg shackled, handcuffed, tasered and held at gun point for not being quiet, not being orderly and just being childlike—i.e., not being compliant enough.
Americans as old as 95 are being beaten, shot and killed for questioning an order, hesitating in the face of a directive, and mistaking a policeman crashing through their door for a criminal breaking into their home—i.e., not being submissive enough.
And Americans of every age and skin color are being taught the painful lesson that the only truly compliant, submissive and obedient citizen in a police state is a dead one.
It doesn’t matter where you live—big city or small town—it’s the same scenario being played out over and over again in which government agents, hyped up on their own authority and the power of their uniform, ride roughshod over the rights of the citizenry. In turn, Americans are being brainwashed into believing that anyone who wears a government uniform—soldier, police officer, prison guard—must be obeyed without question.
Franklin Graham, the heir to Billy Graham’s evangelical empire, offered up this “simple” piece of advice for “Blacks, Whites, Latinos, and everybody else” hoping to survive an encounter with the police:
Most police shootings can be avoided. It comes down to respect for authority and obedience. If a police officer tells you to stop, you stop. If a police officer tells you to put your hands in the air, you put your hands in the air. If a police officer tells you to lay down face first with your hands behind your back, you lay down face first with your hands behind your back. It’s as simple as that. Even if you think the police officer is wrong—YOU OBEY.
Clearly, Graham’s message resonated with a core group of Americans: almost 200,000 individuals “liked” the message on Facebook, with an astounding 83,000 fans sharing his words of advice with their own friends, none of whom seem to recall that Jesus Christ, whom they claim to follow and model their lives after, not only stood up to the police state of his day but was put to death for it.
It’s not just mainstream evangelicals who have been brainwashed into believing that a good citizen is a compliant citizen and that obedience will save us from the police state. In the wake of a grand jury’s decision not to indict the police officer responsible for the choking death of Eric Garner, Patrick Lynch, president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, declared:
“We have to teach our children, our sons and our daughters, no matter what they look like, to respect New York City police officers, teach them to comply with New York City police officers even if they think it’s unjust.”
Similarly, Officer Sunil Dutta of the Los Angeles Police Department advises:
“If you don't want to get shot, tased, pepper-sprayed, struck with a baton or thrown to the ground, just do what I tell you. Don't argue with me, don't call me names, don't tell me that I can't stop you, don't say I'm a racist pig, don't threaten that you'll sue me and take away my badge. Don't scream at me that you pay my salary, and don't even think of aggressively walking towards me.”
In other words, it doesn’t matter if you’re in the right, it doesn’t matter if a cop is in the wrong, it doesn’t matter if you’re being treated with less than the respect you deserve. If you want to emerge from a police encounter with your life and body intact, then you’d better comply, submit, obey orders, respect authority and generally do whatever a cop tells you to do.
In this way, the old police motto to “protect and serve” has become “comply or die.” As I point out in my book A Government of Wolves: The Emerging American Police State and in my forthcoming book Battlefield America: The War on the American People, this is the unfortunate, misguided, perverse message being beaten, shot, tasered and slammed into our collective consciousness, and it is regrettably starting to take root.
Despite the growing number of criminal charges (ranging from resisting arrest and interference to disorderly conduct, obstruction, and failure to obey a police order) that get trotted out anytime a citizen voices discontent with the government or challenges or even questions the authority of the powers that be, the problems we’re experiencing in terms of police shootings have little to do with rebellion or belligerence or resistance.
Rather, the problem arises when compliance doesn’t happen fast enough to suit the police.
For instance, 15-year-old Jamar Nicholson was shot in the back by police after they spotted him standing next to a friend holding a toy gun. “Officers ordered the boy to drop the weapon multiple times,” reports the Los Angeles Times. “When he didn’t comply, one of the officers opened fire.”
Martese Johnson, a 20-year-old college student, unarmed and in the process of walking away from a bar where he’d just been denied entry for being underage, was tackled by police and had his head slammed to the ground and bloodied, allegedly for being intoxicated, belligerent and using a fake ID. Johnson, who it turns out was polite, had a legal ID and was not drunk, survived the encounter after 10 stitches to his head.
And then there was Christopher Lollie, who was tasered, arrested and charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct and obstruction of the legal process for refusing to identify himself to police while waiting to pick his children up from their daycare. Footage of the encounter shows Lollie asking, “Why do I have to let you know who I am? I don’t have to let you know who I am if I haven’t broken any laws.” The charges against Lollie were eventually dropped.
Nicholson, Johnson and Lollie aren’t the only Americans being taught a hard lesson about compliance at the end of a government-issued gun.
World War II veteran John Wrana, 95 years old, dependent on a walker to get around, and a resident of an assisted living center, was rushed by five police officers—one with a Taser and riot shield, others with handguns and a 12-gauge Mossberg pump shotgun—after refusing treatment for a urinary tract infection and brandishing a shoehorn. One of the officers, allegedly fearing for his safety, fired multiple beanbag rounds at Wrana at close range, who bled to death from internal injuries.
James Howard Allen, 74 years old and recovering at home from a surgery, was shot and killed by police who were asked by family members to do a welfare check on him. When police crashed through the man’s back door, they found Allen, perhaps having just awoken and fearing a burglary, armed with a gun.
These shootings and deaths, and many more like them, constitute a drop in the proverbial bucket when it comes to police killing unarmed American citizens, and yet you’d be hard-pressed to find exact numbers for how many unarmed citizens are killed by police every year. Indeed, while police go to great lengths to document how many police are killed in the line of duty, police agencies aren’t actually required to report the number of times police officers engage in homicide. Suffice it to say, however, that the numbers are significantly underreported.
One website estimates that police kill on average three citizens a day in the United States. In 2014, 1100 individuals were killed by police in the U.S. That’s 70 times more than other first-world nations, and almost 20 times more than the number of U.S. troops killed in the same year in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Rarely are these officers given more than a slap on the wrist. More often than not, they operate with impunity, are shielded from justice by the governmental bureaucracy, and are granted qualified immunity by the courts.
A recent report by the Justice Department on police shootings in Philadelphia, which boasts the fourth largest police department in the country, found that half of the unarmed people shot by police over a seven-year span were “shot because the officer saw something (like a cellphone) or some action (like a person pulling at the waist of their pants) and misidentified it as a threat.”
Now it’s one thing for those who back the police—no matter what the circumstance—to insist that if you just obey a police officer, you’ll be safe. But what happens when compliance isn’t enough?
What happens if you play it safe, comply and do whatever a police officer tells you to do, don’t talk back, don’t threaten, and don’t walk away—in other words, don’t do anything that even hints at resistance—and still, you find yourself staring down the wrong end of a government agent’s gun? After all, the news is riddled with reports of individuals who didn’t resist when confronted by police and still got tasered, tackled or shot simply because they looked at police in a threatening manner or moved in a way that made an officer “fear” for his safety.
For instance, Levar Jones, pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt, was shot after complying with a police officer’s order to retrieve his license. The trooper justified his shooting of the unarmed man by insisting that Jones reached for his license “aggressively.”
What more could Jones or anyone have done to protect himself in that situation? How does a citizen protect himself against a police officer’s tendency to shoot first and ask questions later, oftentimes based only on their highly subjective “feeling” of being threatened?
The short answer is you can’t.
The assurance of safety in exchange for compliance is a false, misguided doctrine that has us headed towards a totalitarian regime the likes of which the world has seen before.
Rest assured, if we just cower before government agents and meekly obey, we’ll find ourselves repeating history. However, history also shows us a different path, one that involves standing up and speaking truth to power. Jesus Christ walked that road. So did Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., and countless other freedom fighters whose actions changed the course of history.
Indeed, had Christ merely complied with the Roman police state, there would have been no crucifixion and no Christian religion. Had Gandhi meekly fallen in line with the British Empire’s dictates, the Indian people would never have won their independence. Had Martin Luther King Jr. obeyed the laws of his day, there would have been no civil rights movement. And if the founding fathers had marched in lockstep with royal decrees, there would have been no American Revolution.
The long answer, therefore, is that we must adopt a different mindset and follow a different path if we are to alter the outcome of these interactions with police.
No matter what path you follow, it will be fraught with peril. America is in the midst of a nervous breakdown, brought about by prolonged exposure to the American police state, and there are few places that are safe anymore.
A good test is this: if you live in a community that has welcomed the trappings of the police state with open arms (surveillance cameras, forced DNA extractions, Stingray devices, red light cameras, private prisons, etc.), all the while allowing its police forces to militarize, weaponize and operate beyond the reach of the Constitution, then you don’t live in a democratic republic—you live in a microcosm of the American police state.
If you have no real say in how your local law enforcement operates, if the only oversight of police actions is carried out by fellow officers, if any attempt to criticize the police is edited out or not covered by your local newspaper or TV station, drowned out by your fellow citizens, or intimidated into silence by your local police, then you have no recourse when it comes to police abuses.
Finally, if, despite having done nothing wrong, you feel nervous during a police encounter, you fear doing or saying the wrong thing in front of an officer will get you shot, and your local police dress and act like extensions of the military and treat you like a suspect, then it’s safe to say that you are not the one holding the upper hand in the master-servant relationship anymore.
This is the death rattle of the American dream, which was built on the idea that no one is above the law, that our rights are inalienable and cannot be taken away, and that our government and its appointed agents exist to serve us.

TB - Regarding Christianity: That seems almost correct, and only perverted slightly (namely by you implying it is perverted). A Christian is a slave to Christ, in a manner of speaking, and required to be obedient to the state, to the extent that it does not require them to go against the Word of God. The world, according to scripture, is delivered into the hand of the "devil" (Luciferian / NWO types). It seems apparent to me that their function is to deceive the masses, they help order the stage for the separation of wheat from chaff - they draw the chaff unto themselves and into their ploys, and set them at war with each other. Except through faith, I can't imagine how you think that you might defy a power apparently alloted them by the All Mighty. Surely this is, and always has been, a proving ground for souls. Moreover, any power capable of creating an animated universe so large and awesome could easily destroy it or transform it in an instant, and prayerfully, deliver worthy souls through the fire and into a world that is not controlled by evil. We have a saying among our group: "There is no situation bad enough that calling the cops can't make it worse." In fact, it almost always does.
I have the right to be free from unjustified violence to my liberty and my person. That wasn't "given" to me by any piece of paper; I have it by virtue of being alive. As such, if a thug attempts to commit violence upon my liberty or person, I will use such means as I deem necessary -- in my own estimation -- to maintain that right. If that means gunning down a cop, then I am going to gun down a cop.
This non-violence BS needs to be discredited. Ghandi and King both knew that they only succeeded because they represented the preferred "alternative" for the "authorities." In all cases where non-violence has achieved change, it was only because a credible threat of violence existed in support of the aims also sought by the pacifists.
There are times when you should shoot a cop. So ... do it.
The only solution is to remove the automatic immunity given to police authorities when they beat up or gun down someone. Right now, the corrupt juduciary and corrupt prosecutors treat police like Nazis in an occupied country, giving the police immunity from arrest for whatever force they use on the enemy populace (you and me). Who will arrest the criminal police is a problem but the solution is that any police officer who refuses to arrest a criminal cop be suspended without pay indefinitely. Cops are cheap, facing a suspension of their pay if they refuse an order to arrest a trigger-happy cop, most will follow orders. Another solution is term limits on cops, allowing them to have the job for a fixed amount of time anywhere, say 8 years. Lifetime employment of cops encourages criminal behavior.
Add in malpractice insurance. I think here in Chicago we paid out over 100 million in legal fines, fees, etc., from those nice revenue collectors.
They should have to pay out and their insurance rate should go up after every citation agrieved against them.

Yes the police do murder citizens all the time and they receive no punishment 99% of the time. They beat and kill homeless and those with mental health issues daily. A big billboard near me says "America... Love it or Leave". This is about as Nazi as it gets. The cops strut around like Peacocks with one hand on their gun. In Topeka, Kansas the cops want everyone they pull over for any reason to put their hands up. It seems 3 offi sirs have been killed over the past couple of years... I would bet many more citizens have been injured / killed by these psycho's than three.
When in Nam I used to get real jumpy before a mission,,, I get the same way now whenever I see police, agents or what have you. I laugh every time I see the Serve and Protect joke on their SUV's. They're robbing citizens on the highways getting information from bank tellers when someone pulls cash from their accounts.

I have nightmares a few times per week about police chasing me. Nightmares with criminals? Zero.

It's funny, actual violence can be often be avoided when the other side is just allowed to walk away. That's one of the problems with cops. I they decide that they don't want to just let you walk away, they won't, and they'll bring the weight of the system down upon you. It doesn't matter if what they're doing is illegal, they'll lie to bring the system down on you. That, in itself, escalates things. Every gangsta thug that I've faced down decided that walking away was best after they realized that they were about to get shot, and I just let it happen. I'm a big fan of not fighting fair, though I try to not get into scrapes. It has served me well.

In most of the non-hive states, we are within our legal rights to shoot and kill an armed man that attempts to attack us, steal our car, or kidnap us.
If ISIS comes here to enforce Sharia law on us, we all know what to do and we will be within our legal rights as Americans.

I moved to Canada last year near to a town of 12,000. It was 2 months before I spotted the first police car.
In Mexico they have cops every where. I was stopped a few times in the wee hours, the last time with two armed cops who carried automatic weapons at the ready and hardly spoke english. Once they realized I was sober and legit, they let me go saying be careful as it is dangerous, which was true.
When I lived in the Coachella Valley they had cops everywhere, border patrol, city cops, CHP and every day I would see someone pulled over, people sitting on the curb waiting for reinforcements to come and take them in.
There is no doubt in my mind of the three countries, the USA is the most 'controlled' and 'police state'. I wont go back, there isn't anything appealing enough about the country to lure me. Funny, it used to be a place I enjoyed travelling to in the early 80's. Shows you how much it has changed, from the surly customs people to TSA to whatever. Who needs it?

Because before everyone had a handheld canera , cops did whatever they wanted. The old man in Seattle arrested for walking with a golf club, and cops murdering the homeless guy camping in Arizona, wow those made cops look horrendous.

Most Americans don't understand the true purpose and function of the police. It is not to prevent crimes. It isn't really to solve them. It is not to smooth the flow of society and enable commerce. It is to protect the interests of the elites, and to keep the underclass down.
I didn't make this up. I actually heard the (at the time) Minneapolis Chief of Police, Tony Bouza, say this on the radio near the end of his term in office; around 1989. I almost drove into a telephone pole, I was so shocked to actually hear this. Bouza was often described as a loony lefty because he favored civility in police work and was dead-set against police corruption, but to this day he is politically a fascist, and one of the few self-described, principled fascists I've ever even heard of.
The reason there is a growing problem and awareness of a problem with the role of the police in our society is due to the changes in our society over the past several decades. As our economy hits the limits of growth and begins to consume itself, as has been foreseen for generations, more and more of us are starting to lose the illusion that we are just about to join the elites. We're realizing that, to the elites, we are the underclass. The police are there to keep us down.
After a crime has been committed, the job of the police is to give us a report so we can file an insurance claim, and then find someone the Prosecutor can plausibly file charges against. That's not the same thing as "solving" a crime. The police are also directed to find property to seize for profit, without needing to even allege criminal behavior, as budgetary distress becomes a prime justification for any action in America. All of this is to benefit the interests of the elites. Keeping the mass of the population at least somewhat docile, pacified, and orderly serves the interests of the elites. Allowing the police to forage for their own sustenance also keeps the populace on the wrong foot, and aware of our subservient status.
People wonder why the police are becoming militarized in training and equipment, and why military combat veterans are accepted as police officers with little or no training; particularly now as violent crime is as low as it has ever been in American history. I don't think I know anyone who has been in a physical fight since high school. Even as recently as when I was a kid, in a rural community in the '70s, fistfights were much more common than they are today.
So, why the paramilitary goon squads? If it isn't crime, what is it? Refer to the primary function of the police. The elites know that modern corporate finance capitalism is falling apart due to its internal logical contradictions. They know that at a certain point of decay, a large number of Americans, a critical mass, will find that they have nothing to gain from cooperating with a broken society, and nothing more to lose by rebelling. They intend to have an internal army to protect themselves and their interests.
No amount of consciousness-raising or legal accountability is going to change that development. We aren't going to reshape the police to serve us, because that is not their purpose or function.

Sure, I'd be up for that. I think like many of us, we see the same things but come at them from different directions and may use different terms. As an example, I wouldn't ever call the "Newspaper of the Twin Cities" the "Star and Sickle." I'd call it something more like, "The Voice of the Downtown Minneapolis Corporate Elite," but I think we'd be talking about pretty much the same things.
Funny you'd mention stadiums. I'm a big baseball fan, and I like soccer a lot too. I went to MN United games at the Dome, along with more Twins and Gophers games than I can count. I hated the Dome. I really enjoy Target Field, and I'll be at MLS games if that comes through. However, I hate the way Target Field was illegally rammed down our throats, and I've only bought one ticket the official way and won't do that anymore. I buy from people who have tickets and can't go, but mostly I tag along on freebies and buy refreshments for my hosts. If I were the Pohlads, I'd have spent my own money on "SWMNGUY Stadium," had the grounds crew mow my smiliing mug into the centerfield grass; the featured food item would be "SWMNGUY's Giant Wiener", and I wouldn't allow any politicians in the gates on principle. I also probably would have built it in the Phillips neighborhood. Same goes for the soccer stadium yet-to-be-determined. The giant, semi-phallic Asgard rearing up on its hindquarters to devour the east end of downtown Mpls. appalls me beyond belief. State's rights were overridden in a very undemocratic way: in a closed room by the country's elite. Henry refused to sign it because he "smelled a rat". The rats are increasingly dangerous not only to liberty, but life itself.

True. And yet, what age are the original hippies now? Were I interested in buying reefer, where would I look? To a non-white teenager who can't get out of his own way, sticks out like a sore thumb, can't be trusted with a burned-out match, and only has access to brown Mexican commercial dirtweed? Or a 60 year-old machinist who has managed to achieve a certain level of respectability and material comfort, clean arrest record going back decades, who won't be bothered with anything less than one-hit drop-dead stuff? Or, to put it in alcohol terms, would you buy Icehouse beer at the corner bodega where street drunks hassle you on the way in and the way out, or some fine scotch at a high-end joint from somebody who can tell you which exact part of Scotland makes the stuff you want, that you would only drink an ounce at a time?
That the cops go after the dumbshits and leave the "silver foxes" alone unless they get way too far out of hand tells the story.
In my home town, the only reliable source of the good weed worth getting was the cops. I never went that route directly, though. I was still disposable enough the price in other-than-dollars was a lot more than I was willing to pay.
Like NWA says FUCK THE POLICE. If the police break down your door you might as well go out shooting because you are likely going to die anyways.
In a nutshell, we've lost a system that can be trusted. Without trust, the system, like a relationship, cannot remain healthy and function properly. Brute force has taken over. Plan accordingly....
Or a robot. Robots and computers only do what they're told to do.
As I keep saying: robots will make far better New Socialist Men to people our masters' future classless society than humans with free will were ever likely to.
If a robot that is genuinely more intelligent and capable than any human is ever developed, its creators' first orders to it will be to exterminate mankind.
It's lose-lose situation. And the authorities have come to appreciate this advantage.
- If you 'submit' - you lose, by way of implied guilt, the plea thing & all that.
- If you 'resist' - you lose, by way of violence, guilt, 'the law' & all that.
The nuclear detonation metaphor comes to mind here. Pressures forced inward, with no escape. Therefore the results should be as expected.

If things were really that far out to lunch up here ( they certainly are not!!! ) regarding
the police something real serious would get done real quick. And I know my
American cousins ( political and otherwise ) aren't any slower!
We've seen the deranged up here target police for reasons that boarder
on hallucinatory. And I might add do a pretty good number on 'em. The
idea that ordinary citizens would put up with what you claim is going on,
while y'all just sit it out ( ??? )... I don't buy it.

However, JOSEPH HELLER in his book "Catch-22" has one of his characters (an old Italian man who lived in the brothel) when speaking to Nately (one of the bombers pilots) reverse this to: "No, you have it backwards! It is better to live on your feet than to die on your knees."
