America's Most And Least Drugged States

Tyler Durden's picture

Almost one quarter of Americans regularly "take drugs to affect their mood and help them relax" according to the latest poll by Gallup; but which states are the most (and least) medicated?

click image for large legible version...

As Gallup notes, West Virginians are most likely to report near-daily use of drugs or medications that alter their mood or help them relax, followed by residents of Rhode Island. Southern states make up six of the top 10 highest drug use states, while Alaskans, Wyomingites and Californians are least likely to say they use such drugs almost every day.

Meanwhile, when it comes to illegal drug use, the following chart shows drug busts across the country in the three years from 2009-2012...

...and here's where the weed charges were handed down...

...and here's the distribution of coke and meth charges with Arizona taking the top spot on a per capita basis...

...while Delaware wins for heroin charges...

Here's the 30,000 foot view which shows percentage of illegal drug users on a state-by-state basis:

currently, US Congressmen have an average age of 57, US Senators of 62

the average net worth of a US Congressman is around 7 million bucks, that of an average US Senator is around 14 million

the system Americans use to select them is one of the oldest of the world, known for it's party duopoly, but also for "machine politics" since the 19th Century

further, "redistricting", also called "Gerrymandering" is still very often applied, another form of political corruption. together with the new US habit of "living among similars" which is making zip codes homogeneous...

... how the heck is a DC politician even supposed to have an inkling? he has not your age, he has not your net worth and he does not even live where you live

but as long as you don't understand, as a nation and people, that this is all the product of a political and electoral system... "you get what you deserve", as the old quip went

see the UK election in May, watch how even in a similar First Past The Post "Winner Takes All" system minor parties like the LibDems, UKIP, the SNP and so on... count

overmed, you only hate it because it applies to you. so take some time to study foreign political corruption, have a look at the old British Rotten_and_pocket_boroughs

as often quoted, it's easier to see the mote of dust in the brother's eye then the plank in the own eye

but once you have an idea of how wood looks like, it does become easier to see the own

That's what I need, drugs. Unfortunately I'm not willing to pay the price. That shit will make you drive a jetload of Germans into a freaking mountain. I found an alternative. I jog. Yes I jogged around the track today and tried to keep up the the 21 year olds on the womans track team. Bitchen. I can can see why its considered a sport.

Everybody should be on compulsory SSRI's and ADD drugs.  The illicit drug trade is taking money away from papa government, who is here afterall to take care of us from the cradle to the grave.

From THX-1138:

Female voice (medicine cabinet): If you feel you are not properly sedated, call 348-844 immediately. Failure to do so may result in prosecution for criminal drug evasion.

Perish the thought. A hundred million Americans suddenly without their drugs or suddenly bouncing off SSRI's and psych meds? That puts the Z in zombie apocalypse.

lois lerner had the look of a meth addict or perhaps adderal o.d, maybe that white stuff under her nose was not talc...if only washington would get off the stimulants and mellow out, if ever a city needed opium dens, DC is it.

Nazi's and dictators everywhere love the coke & stimulants, but when they stop using, reality hits them and they know they are shits and hate the people even more. how do you think mr&mrs obuma stay thin?

Hemp Oil with potent THC replaces most of these drugs.

To be ingested, not smoked.

One pound yields two ounces of oil for about $8000.

Not covered by insurance.

It does cure cancer.

Or, take the chemo and radiation instead.

Californians, and Nevada residents less likely to use drugs than the Mormons of Utah????

I call bullshit.

This is nothing more than a test of average personal integrity.

Californians amongst the lowest 5 states for using drugs.  Who the hell do they think they are kidding?

I feel like such a loser, I think I popped a Zantac about 6 months ago when I scarfed down too much chilli.   I don't even have an Aspirin in the house.

But I do swill some beer, which is a "drug".

So why doesn't this include alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, and refined sugars. Does it include chronic drugs like antidepressants and anxiolytics? What about steroids and botox, not to mention homeopathic and naturopathic therapies (certain sound and light frequencies most definitely affect mood, but no one calls them drugs)? All of these and plenty of other substances qualify under "to affect their mood" even if that isn't recognized as their sole or foremost purpose (but really, it is).

A poll? A GALLUP poll? Color me skeptical. Pollsters, banksters, political consultants & bureaucrats are peas in a pod & birds of a feather. They will massage any message to gin up reaction in the polity. I'm a part of that polity and to me what any of them say anymore is spun-honey jibberjabber. Pollsters, banksters, political consultants & bureaucrats = personae non gratae.
