This Is Your Country On Drugs: NatGeo Documents "American Nightmare"
On Wednesday, we showed that nearly a quarter of Americans use drugs to alter their moods and promote relaxation. We also outlined which states are the “most drugged,” and went on to show, via a series of maps courtesy of National Geographic, which parts of the US had the highest per capita rate of illegal drug charges.
Below is the NatGeo documentary which outlines the proliferation of illegal drug use in America. The startling finding: “...the most drug infested state in the most drug infested country is Vermont.”

Have friends in Vermont. Great place to die, if you're a retired Wall Street parasite who can afford to wait for the devil to take you on a hobby farm miles from anywhere.
To live? No fucking way. Any young person who can leave does.
Those remaining hate the guts of the rich New Yorkers and Massholes who lord it over them and thrust people into office determined to keep Vermont "quaint," i.e. poor, whether actual Vermonters like it or not.
Without drugs everyone in this country would be killing eachother.

I must be the biggest friggin nerd. My "drugs" are beer and hydrogen peroxide. If I really ding myself... a bottle of 151 and I can self medicate with that.

It truely is a "war". Awhile back the powers that be said why not add Acetaminophen to pain killers knowing that too much will result in death. They sold it by claiming that it was to discourge abuse, all the while knowing that it would not and it would kill a bunch of people. Recently they back peddeled and reduced the previous amounts up to 1000mg to a max of 350mg's. I wish they would amend the death statistics to show the number killed by the drug and the number murdered by Acetaminophen. My guess is that 90% plus would be murdered, but in a "war" it is not murder.
They capped it to stop meth cookers from abusing it.

So what's the problem" I thought drugs were great? I mean all you ZHers all seem to talk about legalizing this drug or that one, stoppping the war on drugs. etc . I mean really shouldn't this be a wonderful story about how everyone is on drugs? and how great all these drugs have made everything. cause if drugs are as bad as ths story implies, why do ZHers all seem to cry for more drug leaglization? Oh right, I forgot, You're all a bunch of pot heads
Sugar, caffeine, alcohol, chocolate, nicotine... so many drugs to choose from. Moderation is a grown-up responsibility. Every drug should be legalized, and studied, and used with grown-up responsibility.
So we do as ZHers want and make pot easier and more readily availabe, legal and all that. Pot is a gateway drug always has been always will be. as more people smoke pot, the number of folks who go on to other more harder substances will also increase. ir's called simple second grade math and logic. somehting obviously lost most ZHers.
Gateway drug is a term invented and used by government. Equivalent to calling beer a gateway drug to hard liqueurs.

It IS a gateway drug. It intoduces people to drug dealers.

First time I was offered weed in college, the guy told me it was laced with opium.
I guess that was the gateway AND the on ramp to the drug superhighway all in one!

I think the real gateway is your own addictive personality and maybe peer pressure.
If you need a thrill, and coffee, smokes, chocolate, booze, and sex don't fill it, then maybe the weed will. If that don't, then maybe the heroine will.
And if that don't, maybe the heroine will. And if that don't, maybe the heroine will. And if that don't, maybe the heroine will. And if that don't, maybe you'll end up dead.
People that use one drug to feel good will use other drugs to feel good. If they want it and cant get it legally, or can get it cheaper illegally they will. Whatever is used - alchohol, reefer, etc is going to hurt you more than help you if you make it a habit.
