As was largely expected, after 11 hours of deliberations by the jury, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was convicted moments ago of killing four people and injuring 264 in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings. While the guilty counts are still being read (the full list of 30 is presented below), he has already been found guilty of counts 1-10 all of which carry the death penalty. Next up: the jury must decide if he gets the death penalty.

I remember a few days after the bombing, I posted something along the lines of, "I have no idea what to believe at this point, and that's exactly how they want it." It's easier to control people who are confused. When nothing really makes sense, most people won't necessarily default to an opinion that seems plausible but also makes them uncomfortable; they'll default to the opinion that seems to be the most safe.
You can see this playing out with the plane being shot down in Ukraine. There's been no evidence presented to support the official story, but people "know" it was shot down by Russian-supported rebels. How do they know? Because that's what the teevee told them, and to consider the alternative viewpoint would be uncomfortable. The presentation of evidence has taken a backseat to simple statements of guilt or innocence made by talking heads in the corporate state media.
Thinking for oneself is an arduous task. Thankfully, we now have government to do the hard work of thinking for us.

The actual video of the first bomb shows a VERY violent explosion in the middle of a dense crowd. I have heard people claim that this is just a smoke puff or something, but that thing shakes the camera with concussive force and has quite a bright flash to hit.

It just doesn't surprise me that the two brothers came up with some brain-dead plot for some glory or to make some stupid point and a bunch of innocent people got maimed for life. The older brother offered himself up as a noble sacrifice to try and save his younger brother, unarmed, terrified and fleeing the authorities. He had no weapon and at last found refuge in a boat. Then the authorities shot up his boat, insisted to the public that he was armed, pulled him from the boat, and procededed to give him an emergency tracheotomy and a bullet wound through the side of his neck so he wouldn't talk. Had he actually tried to commit suicide in that manner, he surely would have bled to death before being able to be hospitalized for his injuries- those of us who saw the apprehension live know that he was down for some 20 minutes or so while they gave him the emergency tracheotomy. My guess is that they shot him out below the ear sometime between putting him in the ambulance and the hospital arrival. Tactical EMT? More like FBI cleanup crew...
