5 Second Slow Mo Video Shows What REALLY Happened With Policeman Who Shot Fleeing Man In Back
The officer shooting the unarmed man in the back who was running away is – appropriately – front-page news.
But there’s a bigger story …
Initially – as Kit Daniels shows – the media believed that the officer shot in self-defense … until the video was released. If the brave witness hadn’t filmed the entire incident on his cellphone, the truth would never have been discovered.
The Intercept explains:
Because three days elapsed between the shooting and the publication of the video of the shooting, the Scott incident became an illuminating case study in the routinized process through which police officers, departments and attorneys frame the use of deadly force by American cops in the most sympathetic possible terms, often claiming fear of the very people they killed. In the days after the shooting, the police version of events — an utterly typical example of the form — was trotted out, only to be sharply contradicted when the video surfaced. In most cases like this, there is no video, no definitive, undisputed record of much of what happened, and thus no way to rebut inaccurate statements by the police.
The first report of the Saturday afternoon incident, from Charleston’s The Post and Courier, followed the usual script: The police department’s story portrayed the victim as behaving dangerously, in this case, purportedly struggling to take an officer’s Taser as part of a violent altercation. Family and friends of the slain black victim mourned his loss and questioned the narrative offered by authorities.
The pro-police spin continued two days later, when a lawyer for Michael Slager, the officer who shot Scott, said Scott “tried to overpower” his client, who “felt threatened and reached for his department-issued firearm and fired his weapon.” Scott’s family and allies could do little more than note that Scott was unarmed, and call for the truth to somehow emerge.
A former U.S. Marshal reveals that law enforcement is trained to justify deadly force by pretending that they felt threatened by the suspect:
Moreover, police have shot people in the back and killed them as they ran away many times before. Here are a couple of recent examples, which happen to have been caught on tape:
- An unarmed man running away in Long Beach, California
- An unarmed man in Muskogee, Oklahoma (video)
- A man in Pasco, Washington
- An innocent artist in Utah who liked to dress up in anime (and see this)
Moreover, police often frame innocent suspects.
They also plant weapons on people, as “justification” for shooting them. The practice is so well-known that the New York Times noted in 1981:
In police jargon, a throwdown is a weapon planted on a victim.
Newsweek reported in 1999:
Perez, himself a former [Los Angeles Police Department] cop, was caught stealing eight pounds of cocaine from police evidence lockers. After pleading guilty in September, he bargained for a lighter sentence by telling an appalling story of attempted murder and a “throwdown”–police slang for a weapon planted by cops to make a shooting legally justifiable. Perez said he and his partner, Officer Nino Durden, shot an unarmed 18th Street Gang member named Javier Ovando, then planted a semiautomatic rifle on the unconscious suspect and claimed that Ovando had tried to shoot them during a stakeout.
Wikipedia notes:
As part of his plea bargain, Pérez implicated scores of officers from the Rampart Division’s anti-gang unit, describing routinely beating gang members, planting evidence on suspects, falsifying reports and covering up unprovoked shootings.
Here, officer Slager was caught on film planting his taser on Walter Scott after he had already killed Scott:

(This is a slow motion excerpt from the video.)
Why is this happening?
One reason is that many law enforcement officers consider failure to comply with the officers’ demands as a basis for using lethal force.
Police have become so militarized in modern America that – in the words of civil rights and constitutional attorney John Whitehead – “the only truly compliant, submissive citizen in a police state is a dead one.”
Of course, if we had the rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution, this would not be such a problem. Sadly, we’ve lost virtually all of those rights.
No wonder you’re 55 times more likely to be killed by a police officer than a terrorist.

In the face of any real resistance, the police would be the last people seen. Except for the ones with the black kerchiefs over their faces, hurtling bottles, and rocks.
Just do a little googling of "Caledonia" and "Six Nations" and you'll see where the police stand (down). After property taxes have been paid by the white man, for centuries, a bunch of screaming yahoos start assaulting the local populace. Because 7 generations ago, their great grandparents sold their land, and in typical indian fashion, they want it back.
You misspelled STOLE.
Fixed that for you.
Media didn't say whether the black runnng away is car theft or not? why he ran away from scene. This policeman did use way too much 'force' but talking about 'murder' which needs planning ahead.
The victim was stopped because he had a burned out tail light. He was wanted for non payment of child support. He was running away from the cop. The cop had his car and his driver's license. He was no danger to himself or anyone else. Any cop could have gone to his home and arrested him any time. So the cop shot him in the back, 5 times, and planted a weapon on him.
Charges would be, 'second degree murder', voluntary, involuntary murder charges, that could be leveled.
I imagine 2nd degree would be the charge
Thats called pre-meditated murder. You CAN kill someone without planning it.
Like cops in Chicago during Old Daley admin.
Blood alone moves the wheels of history. Nothing will happen until these pigs, the DA's and the judges they hide behind, start getting dragged out of their houses at night, and hung up from trees, and lamp posts. A notice should be placed on the body with a few clear examples of their misdeeds, and unlawful rulings.
Back in the late 90's / early 2000's trucking companies started charging fuel surcharges, but wouldn't pass them along to the drivers (who were buying the fuel) Despite complaints nothing was done about it, until one truck driver had enough, and went in and shot up his employer's office. The surcharge gets passed along gladly now.
I believe the only way to stop this is to reduce police pension plans by 1% every time a police officer is conviced of murder or is guilty of a wrongful shooting death. Not state by state, but as nation as a whole.
Only then will the police think twice about shooting unarmed people in the back.
Also, for every unnecessary beating that the police are convicted of, should be a nation wide 1/2 percent reduction in pay and benefits.
The only way to stop this is by hitting them (police) in the wallet.
Police officers respond to discipline from superior officers including the Chief of Police. The Chief of Police responds to pressure from the Mayor. The Mayor responds to political pressure from the public.
So, if you want better police protection, better Chief of Police and better Mayor and other public servants get involved in politics and get the vote out.
Doesn't work - swap out mayors and the problem resets.
...leading to more hatred on part of police? Yep, that ought to work.
How so?
It's not more hatred, more about every wrong/bad decision costs the police money. If they (police) don't like it, they can quit. Who needs them except for state and local goverments that encourage them to write tickets only for revenue.
Once the state and local governments can cut their pay, well, it's all over for the status quo.
Time to get over the fact that the police are to serve and protect. They are not. I know a bunch of police officers and I can tell you that they are the biggest pussies I ever met. Way over paid if you ask me.
I'm all for informing the public about the abuses of police and public officials. However this contant agitation of media against LEO's is part of the problem.
But we wouldn't have a problem if those who take an oath to defend the rights of ctizens would actually follow through.
See george you can write an accurate story not filled with out of context links. Wih the exception the the daily kos and your blog.
But it's a start. ;-)
So.... what's it like to have someone living inside your head?
Anyone else in there, or is George your only tenant?
Yup
It's the constant agitation of the media against LEOs and not the constant agitation of LEOs lead against major internal organs that's the problem.
More shitgum genius at work.
Shitgum start your own blog. Show us all how its done.
Stand in awe at all the mechanisms of a failed state as it moves into tyranny.
How many more times are you likely to be killed by your doctor or pharmacist than a police officer?
I have a choice in doctors and pharamacists, Jethro. When it comes to cops they are nor different than the random thugs and criminals who I might come across if I were so unlucky in life save for where I live the costumed state sanctioned criminals number in the tens of thousands and kill with impunity while I yet in nearlt 20 years to come across any of these OTHER criminals who are lurking around every corner from what people seem to write.
It is fucking sheep like you who continue to vote for, endorse and fund this crap while you cower in fear of your fellow man. What a sad, pathetic way to live one's life.
Always remember it was THE STATE (your glorious LEOs) that herded people into boxcars and away to gas chambers.
How many times does your doctor or pharmacist kill someone with intent?
This was not an accident, Jethro.
So are you suggesting that I need be more concerned because it is not as likely that I am to be murdered by a cop?
Yeah. That is right. It is all about me, right?
THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION.
If you are getting pulled over I guess it's prudent to shoot the COP first.
Better to be judged by 12 instead of murdered by a public servant.
People are so determined to create conflict, create fear and so it seems to create a race war.
That does not serve humanity.
There are so many people with actual or feigned indignation and rage. Escalating these situations solves nothing.
Clearly you have not dealt with your local DA, AG or local police when YOU are accused unjustly.
Have you EVER tried to get "redress"?
I've dealt with them when I was doing the accusing, more than once. Each time, they intentionally cut deals with the criminals to reduce their own workload and 'sell' freedom to the criminals. I had one guy, out on probation, facing several more years of prison for communicating threats. They couldn't let him off the hook fast enough. Their jail was full and it wasn't a drug crime in which they could seize his property so, they had no use for my case. I finally figured out that they are basically employing drug dealers as independent contractors, to bring in lots of cash using forfeiture laws (and who knows how many trumped up charges). Everything else is just 'window dressing' to fool the voters, a revenue drain.
The subliminal engraving over every US court house is, "Abandon all hope of justice, ye who enter here." There's a police/prosecutor/judge industrial complex. It's protected by a media/elected government/bureaucrat industrial complex. One of their faux products is justice in their courts. Stupid flocks of sheeple are trained to use trust as a pacifier.
There are no honest cops, because they all protect other cops. There are no honest judges, because they all protect other judges. There are no honest prosecutors, because they all protect other prosecutors, judges and police.
Justice in US courts is a fantasy. http://faqusajudicialcorruption.blogspot.com/
Yes, that is what the media, especially the alternative media wants us to believe.
And yet, at the core, each policeman, each judge, each politician and each victim is an actual human being like you and me ... unless they are of course just actors playing roles which are designed to elicit a specific response.
I know cops, judges, politicians, Jews, Palestinians, Iranians (well, actually people of Persian descent). NONE OF THEM ARE AS THEY ARE PORTRAYED IN THE MEDIA ... including the alternative media.
Every Federal judge who sits on a criminal case is a corrupt whore. The feds have authority to define and punish ONLY counterfeiting, crimes commiteed on th high seas, and crimes against nations. All of the regulatory crimes, all of the drug crimes, all of the gun crimes are beyond the jurisdiction of the feds. Read the constitution. No person with a brain can argue otherwise and these judges and prosecutors think they are so smart. The only two choices are that they are too dumb to read or too corrupt to comply.
And this $hit is happening with the market at ATHs...
I got some questions too. Do cop radios have any servailance features? If yes? Were they on at the time? Were either of those cops carrying cell phones? If yes? What is on the phones?
Stil curious why there was no blood and no bullet holes in the guy's shirt.
Can anyone explain?
Gravity.
Try this experiment at home if you are still in disbelief. Spill some water. It does not fall up. Neither does blood.
A 9mm hole is hard to see from any distance away on a crappy cell phone camera. When you shoot at targets, sometimes you need optics to assist with finding the point of impact on the target.
The blood is probably mostly on the grass. I believe most of the wounds would have exit holes on the front of the torso. So as the wound fills with blood, it would drain downward onto the grass.
You can go online and watch some videos posted by hunters showing animals being killed to see if you think this video is plausible. You should keep an open mind. To me, this story looks like it is exactly what it claims to be. I don't think every single news story is completely fake! That would mean nothing every happens!
You mean that a 5/16" hole in meat doesn't issue geysers of blood that splash across a camera lens in dripping gouts?
I'm shocked.
I'll never watch another movie again...
They've been lying to me.
sure i can explain to certain ZH readers posing this kind of question
Obama's Eric Holder framed up this entire video to get out the vote for
hillary. of course there are no bullet holes or blood. it is a conspiracy
Odd response... are you trying to do something specific, such as distract attention from something?
Please explain.
When the cop drops the taser on the guy, with another cop standing right there, they made the whole situation undeniably suspicious.
Sure, when neither cop checked the condition of the victim, they also made it undeniably suspicious.
Also, look at the first cop's pants. How many cops do you know who wear their pants that long with a nice break at the shoe?
And, every cop I have seen in the last 10 years has about a dozen more things on his belt. The first guy/shooter had like nothing.
Don't you think it even a little odd that the cops never once looked at the person filming the incident. This went on for a long time. They are supposedly trained observers. They should see someone filming them. (but actors are trained not to look at the camera)
Just for the heck of it, let's say it's staged. Who benefits? Not the cop looking at 30years to life in prison. Will there be a renewed effort to rein in the police force? I'm all for it.
What are you suggesting is the motive or outcome desired from a staged event of a cop shooting a black and being charged with murder?
No race riots are going to come from justice being served, it's only when the cop gets away with an obvious murder that you'll potentially see riots. I just don't see any reason to suspect this was staged.
Even if not staged(I doubt it was, most cops are crazy), DC will use the 'crisis' to demand more Federal control. Perfect excuse for them.
... and you have answered who benefits.
Bouncy keyboard today.
I'm not trying to convince anybody it was staged, I've just become suspicious of every damn thing.
Some people are thinking that things like this could be used as a reason to implement a federal police force. It doesn't sound far-fetched, especially if there is a trial for one or more of these cops. Either way, guilty or not guilty, there will be a lot of dividing and conquering going on.
Yes, who benefits from keeping the people in fear and in conflict with each other?
We are being led to believe that cops are bad and should not be trusted. We are also being led to believe that cops do not trust the people who they are supposed to help and protect.
It is easier for those in power to stay in power when the people believe they need them. People believe they need those in power when they are insecure and fearful. If we have a lot of fear, then we let those in power get away with pretty much anything ... as long as they tell us that it is for our protection. We let them surveil us, restrict us, steal from us, kidnap and imprison us, impress us and make us fight wars against others.
The question is not so much "que bono" (who gains). We know who gains... but why they feel it necessary to gain in this way? Has it always been like this? Are they so afraid off the people that they need to do this to feel secure? ... or is it something else?
"...We are being led to believe that cops are bad and should not be trusted..."
FUCK you. Just fuck you. There is no other more appropriate polite, reasonable response.
How many cops do you personally know?
I went to high school with a few. I wouldn't trust them as cops. Not all are going to be abusive, but the system does not weed out the abusive ones. If we are being led to hate cops, it is the cops who are leading us to it by example. If they don't want us to hate them, they need to get rid of the abusive cops. Instead, no matter what a cop does, argue with them that a cop was wrong, and the thin blue line pops up, and their fellow officer can do no wrong. It's actually worse than that. If the cop was wrong, they'll say he wasn't and they'll argue that no matter what, the person who got fucked was wrong. It is very us vs them. It is very perverse.
Well kool ... not saying you are wrong. I know a few from highschool (one was a Chicago cop) and college (one a county sheriff) and most recently the brother of one of our neighbors across the street... and some of his friends. We play golf, poker ... good guy. I cannot claim all are good. I certainly don't know all and the way the news is portraying the cop-people relationship these days, it would certainly scare me if I did not have direct evidence that contradicted it ... at least on a limited scale.
There is a friend of my son who got a job as a DC cop. He was a bag of trouble ... he is no longer on the force.
The son of a friend works for the border patrol ... gets paid way too much money, but a good kid.
BoPeep, there is no 'good cop'. If they were they would quit the gig or be booted off. Its that simple. Every cop knows dirty cops and does not a fucking thing about it. They keep their silence. So how can they be 'good'? Think it through, if you drove the car for a bank robber, knowing whats happenning, but never did the heist are you guilty or not? Fuckin Aye you are.
Now, now...
He's new at this. He's just trying to get a feel of it.
