China's Bursting Bubble + Grexit Trouble = Dow Rubble

Tyler Durden's picture

Straw ... meet camel's back...

Before we start, it is perhaps worth noting that the US equity market is now the worst performing asset YTD (beaten by gold, credit, bonds, and oil)...

Year-to-Date, Trannies are ugly, The Dow just went red then was liofted to close pefectly unchanged YTD, and the S&P is up less than 1%...

Dow 17823 was what mattered - MUST KEEP GREEN STOCKS YTD DREAM ALIVE...

Big down day in stocks started with Chinese regulators cracking down, continued through Europe with BBG down, pushed further on Grexit fears, then legged lower on DoJ anti-trust news...

On the day, Nasdaq came under pressure from AAPL weakness and Trannies outperformed  (Dow lost 18,000; S&P lost 2,100; Nasdaq lost 5,000) and all that with a handful of hopeful Greek headlines which typiucally would have sent algos rushing higher...

On the week... everytthing ended clumped together around 1-1.5% lower....

Futures volume was huge compared to recent averages...

How many more times are stocks going to pump'n'dump back to bond reality?

Another whipsaw day in bond yields and another down day for yields ending the week 6-11bps lower (with the long-end outperforming today)... Everey bond selloff is met by buying...

The dollar slipped once again - the first 4 day losing streak in a year (since April 10 2014) - the streak of buying and selling swings intraday continues also...

This is the 2nd worst week for the USD since October 2011

Despite the USD weakness, gold and silver lost ground on the week (Gold held $1205) but copper popped and crude soared...

WTI Crude had its biggest week since Feb 2011 surgiung 8.75% to close above $56 for the first time in 2015...

Charts: Bloomberg

Bonus Chart: US Macro data has printed a new low this week...

Huge volume burst on all indices’ 2-min charts ~2:18-2:20 were VWAP algo’s signature, ~1 HR target, hit perfectly in unison on all major indices ~3:35, over 100 Dow pts.  But no, it's not the “machines"

As a full-time trader, would never suggest fighting ‘em, but talk of the horrors of HFT, front-running pennies that obviously add up, is overblown, IMO, algos have greater impact on monthly account values, setting price like any cartel.  The “true” target without them today would have likely been the 100 DMAs on QQQs and SPY.  No way were Joe Investor orders pouring in that resolved precisely at the orange line.

Anybody can sign up and use VWAP algos through Interactive.  It may be machines but they've been democratized.

The 'democrat' who says "gee, try and get me the v-avg price over a set period, I'm a god-fearing believer in democracy" doesn't realize they've hired a dictator that despotically smashes markets higher, artificially pumping price just to allow selling at the silly orange line so they (big boys) can get paid, ignoring the actual balance of demand, before dumping after-hours.

To be even worse than oil YTD, that is downright hilarious indeed. And, you need a fully rigged marked plus a whole bunch of Phd's for that, too...

“Kid”  by hometown hero Chrissie Hynde, w/ The Pretenders

Kid, what changed your mood?
You've gone all short, said I should short too
I think you know some things
They didn’t want you to know

You think they’re wrong, I can tell you do
Had to use your brain, though they don’t want you to

Kid my only kid
You sold your calls late last night
Now that you know what it’s about
I won't deny it
But you can’t forgive, now you understand
If you turn things on their head
You'll force their hand

All you’ve borrowed, all you’d lose
All you’ll borrow

Short FXI … go away
Full retrace, you’ll cover at $8

Bid, baseless bids
The lies shine through, so you won’t buy
Though your QE fears are so real
Think they won’t let it go
Oh-o-o-oh

(crystalline arpeggios fade out)

Airplay of "message of love", etc., way out of proportion, album filler makes "best of" the only worthy purchase, but ... a few tracks are essential bridges between late 70's/early 80s, like "Kid" and "Talk of the Town", subtly intricate chord patterns, very good production/arranging make the best of tunes' key moments vs. others on radio at the time, IMO.

Time to buy more FAZ.  Better than a lottery ticket, falls to a nickel on the dollar but never to zero like a lottery ticket.

Even better than being raped by HFT que jumpers. in any other component of society que jumpers would get punched in the nose.

Damn the Securities Modernization Act and banks being classified as commercials which disconnected Wall St from Main St.  Like a fat cat, Banks using big money to push everyone out of almost every poker hand. It only takes one hand to wipe him out.

Seems the Greeks cut a deal with Russia and the Turk Pipeline project. They'll - ALLEGEDLY - will sign the deal on tuesday next week and get 3-5 billion euros in advance payment. So it is written, will it be done?

In light of this I'm asking myself if Yannis' visit in Crime Central has something to do with it? Like asking for permission and to beg to call off Gladio?

http://www.naturalgaseurope.com/analysis-turkish-stream-southern-gas-cor...

One of the main factors in Moscow’s shift from South Stream to Turkish Stream was the EU’s Third Energy Package (TEP). Under these rules, a single company cannot own the pipeline through which it also supplies gas. Neither Russia nor Turkey is an EU member, and so neither are bound by the TEP, which makes the construction of Turkish Stream much easier. However, the construction of Turkish Stream is not the only issue at stake. The pipeline will have to stop at the Turkey- Greece border because of the TEP rules, given that Greece is an EU member state.

Greece may have to leave the EU?

There's also talk of a Greek deal to buy Russian S300 rockets. Why wouldn't the Russians finance the buyers of their military hardware just like the US or the Germans?

3-5 billion is buying Greece a couple months at most.

The reason precious metal are not stronger is because the cabal knows that they represent a solid value alternative to fiat currencies and they can't tolerate (both financially and psychologically) the dollar dropping to a level that would be consistent with the irresponsible money creation by the fed and other central banks.  Accordingly, they continue there program of using pseudo tax dollars to massively short the metals market at  a loss - at US taxpayer expense eventually (when the inevitable second bailout arrives).  Anyone thinking that the US$ represents a safe store of value is either part of the cabal or beholden to them.

Stay solid, stay tangible.
