...and in other news... FHFA Housing price index rises to 5.4% Y/Y. Looks like the Fed overshot the 2% inflation mark in this category.

Seriously, at this point, what else is there to say. Whenever I look at the tape and I want to know why the market is ripping, I've realized that it's for no other reason than the time of day. For example, has anyone ever noticed how the market runs higher at 8 am, 9am, 11:30 am, and 3 pm almost every day? It's just a bunch of computers playing hot potato all day every day.

So the other day I had some time, so I found a data source for US debt by month since 1900.

I also found the closing DOW price by day for the same time period.

I plotted them both in excel.

Basically the run exactly in sync. More or less flat time from 1900 to 1970s/1980s. After we went off the gold standard, debt started hockey sticking.

My take away is that the stock market is nothing more than a reflection of out of control inflation. The US government will never stop printing money and thus debt will keep going up and thus the stock market will keep going up - until it all doesn't and implodes on itself.

Please help me understand where I am wrong here. For all the articles I read here - why shouldn't I just buy the market until the governmen decides to stop printing money and running up debt?

That's a good question. I guess you should once the next crash happens. That's what I'm going to do, if I'm still alive and have any money left.
