I wonder how many milliseconds the latency of my wireless keyboard adds, to the latency of my antique 20mbs European DSL internet connection, to the latency of the 4000 mile trip to NYC, just to finally compete with that co-located algo.
My average was around 228, but I got lucky with one at 117.

So why are there no cries from Ben or Janet or the SEC or Congress to end it all? Why? Because the market keeps going up, and greed is too powerful. They will never kill the goose that is laying the golden egg. If they crash the markets, there will be loud cries for a few days, then silence again. The oligarchs own the country and the HFT algo machines...they get what they want, so long as the primary direction remains up. This will never change....
