2000x Normal Radiation Found In Tokyo Playground, Officials Deny Any Link To Fukushima

Tyler Durden's picture

When a specially-designed robot dies within 3 hours of being exposed to Fukushima's radiation, it is clear something is not quite as propagandized in Japan; and today, as SCMP reports, extremely high levels of radiation have been discovered in a children's playground in Tokyo. While two hours of exposure to a child would be equivalent to the maximum does allowable in a year, Japanese officials say they do not think it is connected to the disaster at Fukushima. We are not sure whether that is supposed to reassure or terrorize locals?

As The South China Morning Post reports,

Soil underneath a slide at the children's playground in the northwest of the Japanese capital showed radiation readings of up to 480 microsieverts per hour, the local administrative office said.

The radiation level is over 2,000 times that at which the national government requires soil cleaning in areas around the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, where reactors melted down after the March 2011 tsunami.

Anyone directly exposed to this level would absorb in two hours the maximum dose of radiation Japan recommends in a year.

"Many children play in the park daily, so the ward office should explain the situation," Kyodo News quoted a 62-year-old local woman as saying.

...

Officials were made aware of the contamination after a local resident reported it on Monday and say they do not think it is connected to the disaster at Fukushima. "Because the area in which we detect radioactivity is very limited, and readings in surrounding parts are normal, we suspect radioactive materials of some kind are buried there," local mayor Yukio Takano said in a statement.

The park was built in 2013, two years after the Fukushima nuclear crisis, a local official said, on what was previously a parking lot for Tokyo's sanitation department. Top soil at the lot was replaced before the land was turned into a park, said the Toshima official.

Many families in eastern Japan continue to survey the levels of radioactive contamination around their houses, distrustful of government assurances that most places had not been affected by the Fukushima nuclear meltdown.

Such efforts have led some people to discover radioactive materials that had been dumped in their neighbourhoods.

Coming days after a radioactive drone was discovered atop PM Abe's office building, one has to wonder just what the people are trying to tell everyone... that the government is suppressing so strictly.

Radiating Americans: Fukushima rain, Clinton's secret food pact

"The United States came up with a decision to downplay Fukushima," said Gundersen who is awakening the public with information such as hot particles in rain will continue falling in the U.S., not just in the Pacific Northwest, for another year, and mentioning high-level fallout in Oklahoma a few days ago.

Gundersen told SolarIMG that high-level people he knows in the State Department said Hillary Clinton signed a pact with her counterpart in Japan agreeing for the United States to continue buying food from Japan, despite that food not being properly tested for radioactive materials.

"So we are not sampling the food coming into the United States," he said, repeating, "The US government has come up with a decision at the highest levels of the State Department, as well as other departments who made a decision to downplay Fukushima."

The continuing fallout from Fukushima is following the North American jetstream.

Increased deposition of radionuclides and subsequent biomagnification/bioaccummulation in the effected ecosystems are a natural consequence.

Yup.  I'd wager the soil was shipped in from the Fukushima area, or brought to the sanitation site from Fukushima not long after the disaster and somehow "re-purposed" (never properly disposed of).

Some cash payments, some prostitutes, some favors - and no hazardous disposal fees.

Too much radiation to have been airborne - trucked in somehow.

Cheap and efficient, except for the poor kids exposed.

I'd take the other side of that wager. It is almost certainly radioactive medical waste. That stuff is expensive and difficult to dispose of, and dropping it into a hole is cheap and easy. 'Sanitation Department' in Japan is a euphemism for incinerator.

I'm suprised the American Government have not gone in over this radioactive situation. The Japanese government seems to be in denial because it is bad for the country's image that they are not able to deal with this problem.

The Japanes need to shed their imperialist tendancies and let some foreign scientists and engineers work out what the hell is going on and help them fix it.

No no no. According to www.shitisfuckedupandbullshit.com, the Israelis used one of the Dolphin subs the Nazi-German DVD made for them to plant a plutonium fission bomb on that fault line. The plutonium pit, among others, was stolen from PANTEX and smuggled out by Victor Bout (currently in Federal lockup) which the Israelis then modified to make their nuclear arsenal (that nobody admits to) since they can't make their own explosive metals at Dimona because they fucked the place up in an accident. The Israelis planted the bomb to let Japan know they were not happy with them agreeing to make weapons grade plutonium for countries Israel doesn't like.

Some stupid f'n weasel probably buried it there just to put the blame on the government for its lies and problably loss of this person's home, hopes and dreams.

Hey, radiating children is not the way to get symapathy for your plight!

But this is wasted advice as the person or persons driven to the insanity needed to perform such an act are already so far gone that thinking rationally, intellegently or even compasionately is impossible, so much so that we're lucky they didn't just dump this radiation on them, thinking that if they bury it they can get all the satisfaction of retribution without the loss of face from getting it traced back to them - like it ever doesn't, in the end.

Fortunately, such mental and emotional derangement often causes an internal collapse, long before an external dysphoria can emerge. We catch most in this stage, a stage which is is permanent and irreversible permitting only control and not cure and in this process we actually further enable some to proceed in both ther sickness, derangement and external dysphoria. Of these, sometimes we get lucky and they strike out in a nonsensical way, like pointing a gun at a cop or overdosing on heroin.  It's those exceptional few that can take it all the way to a complete disregard for human life that we need to identify from among the aformentioned that we seem unwilling or unable to accomplish, mostly because we don't ask! Non-authoratative figure: "Hey buddy, how you feeling today?" "Like I wanna kill kids with radiation to save them from the impending zombie apocolypse". "Let me take you someplace where we can make that happen......not"

The response of any self-respecting politician is to redefine the level of acceptable radiation, up.    You know, the new normal is where every 2nd person grows a tree from their foreheads.

JamesBond above has it correct.   Where the cost of disposing of 100,000-year-half-life trash is high, and dumping in a children's park is off the ledger, then one radioactive playground is just a symptom.

Given their extreme xenophobia and demographic cliff, Japan should have policies to protect their children above all else.

Instead, it is all about power tto their corrupt elite, like Abe and Kuroda.

Japan is like India, they inherited some of the most important knowledge systems to ever be attained by mankind, and instead of leading civilization, they chose to pursue the western model and are now reaping what they sowed.

There is a seriously sick asshole trying to make a point with radiation. He/she needs to be apprehended. This is not an accident.

The trouble with radiation is that you can not see it or smell it or feel it.  I remember my first time in the reactor vault at the nuclear station on a shutdown and looking at the needle buried to the right on the meter and thinking "holy cow" batman.

So someone or some company or some government agency is using construction projects to dispose of radioactive materials. That's what their explaination amounts to.

How bad must Fukushima be for them to admit that? I'll believe that explaination because it makes the powers that be look really bad and because regular people detected it on their own so it's an isolated spot. Fukushima fallout would be spread everywhere in the area.

At 4.8 millirem, not a lot of dose but still shouldn't be there. A person gets approximately 15 millirem from a chest x-ray.

I guess it's just coincidence that they have a nuclear plant spewing shit into the atmosphere for years. Your suggestion on this thread - along with the others - sounds troll like for its stupidity.

I'm a Radiation Protection technician and I'm actually working a nuclear plant right now. I know meters that detect it and I know how it travels, I know what instruments to use to detect and measure radioactive or radiation I'm trying to find AND their limitations. At 4.8 millirem there are only maybe two meters that would dectect it at that low levels a microR meter or maybe a contamination frisker. And with those two meters they would have to be practically looking for it.

Down arrow all you want but I know my business and I'm not buying the story as is.

Twenty-five years ago, when I was living in Taipei, Taiwan, there was a relatively new exclusive housing project very beautifully constructed. I used to walk by and envy the people living in it.

That was until a couple years later, lots of people living there had health problems like bleeding gums and cancer.

It turns out that a middleman was paid to dispose of some rebar from dismantled nuclear projects in Eastern Europe and he sold it at a highly discounted rate to the contractor building the project.

The middleman made money on both ends and lots of people got radiation poisoning and cancer.  I don't think it made more than a blurb in a local Chinese Language newspaper.

This video is really good.   It shows what was known at the time.   It shows that the commanding officers really got up to speed really fast on what was needed to be done, and the risks involved.

Compare this heroic efforts at Chernobyl to letting the Keystone cops at TEPCO try to "manage" the sacrifice zone, whilst the globalist asshats at GE, using their owned media and owned politicians to shoosh it all away with lies.

They sent in troops, AND hired civilians to perform a 45 second task of taking 1 shovel full of rad debris, and then running to edge of roof and throw it off.    They had to use humans because the robots were getting killed too quickly on the roof.   After that the human would be "retired" they took their maximum lifetime dose or more.   However, I also heard that some of these bio-bots as the liquidators were sometimes nicknamed, went back for 10 of these 45 second visits.

This video is both entertaining and enlightening.

It is well known among the learned, Japan purposely spread nuclear contaminated soil and burned nuclear contaminated materials throughout Japan.  Why?  Destroy evidence of the personal damage caused by NPP such as Fukushima by losing any creation of cancer clusters in increased cancer rates across the country.  See?  Dilution is the solution.
