Nobel Peace Prize-Winning President & Pacifist-Nation Japan PM Explain New Military Assertiveness - Live Feed

Tyler Durden's picture

President Obama and Japanese PM Shinzo Abe are set to explain how great the TPP is and how the renewed military assertiveness is 'peaceful'...

As AP reports,

The United States and Japan are boosting their defence relationship to allow a greater Japanese role in global military operations with an eye on potential threats from China and North Korea.

Before Japan's prime minister visits Washington this week, the two countries' foreign and defence ministers on Monday signed off on revisions to the U.S.-Japan defence guidelines. They are the first changes to the treaty allies' joint strategy in 18 years. Any changes are subject to security legislation pending in Japan's parliament.

The revisions boost Japan's role in missile defence, mine sweeping and ship inspections amid growing Chinese assertiveness. The new arrangements also allow Japan to dispatch its armed forces beyond the region for logistical backup of U.S. military's global operations, in distant areas including the Middle East.

Due to start at 12ET...

As USA Today reports, it was not just military deals,

President Obama welcomed Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to the White House on Tuesday for a day of ceremonial pomp and tough talk about free trade.

The state visit comes as American and Japanese negotiators try to put the finishing touches on their section of a massive trade agreement involving the United States and a dozen Pacific Rim nations.

"Ours is an alliance that is focused on the future," Obama said during the South Lawn ceremony welcoming Abe, including "trade that is fair and free."

Among the sticking points that remain: American tariffs on Japanese pickup trucks, and Japanese barriers to U.S. farming products.

Abe, speaking through an interpreter, told Obama that "our bilateral relationship is more robust than ever," one that is "addressing regional and global challenges while developing our bilateral ties with the United States in a consistent manner."

Domestically, Obama is pushing fellow Democrats to back trade promotion authority, a bill that would give the president the right to put together a final trade agreement and present it to Congress for an up-or-down vote.

Actually, this line is commonly attributed to Josef Goebbels, the Nazi propaganda chief, but there's no evidence at all linking it to him.

Goebbels was a huge fan and devotee of Edward Bernays.  How ironic, because...

Bernays was a Viennese Jew, and related to Sigmund Freud.  Maybe it was just his cynical/ironic way of turning Bernays's PR principles against Jews.  Would not put it past Goebbels, Hitler and the Nazis to do so.

A complete inversion and perversion of the language, JO.

The dominant, unfettered corporate/government (fascist) money sequencing machine has and will unflinchingly turn truth into lies in pursuit of the only psychotic goal it knows: profit$.  All else be damned.

You are more right than you know perhaps:

Effort by Japan to Stifle News Media Is Working

"“The Abe government is showing an obsession with the media that verges on paranoia,” said Keigo Takeda, a former editor in chief at Newsweek Japan who is now a respected freelance journalist. “I have never seen this level of efforts to micromanage specific newspapers and TV programs.”"

It's a "Confidence" issue.  Not only the confidence in territorial sovereignty -- like an anima marking its territorry -- but, more importantly, in maintaining the "Full Faith & Confidence" in the fiat currencies that fund their MICs.

If the currency goes, so does its MIC:  One hand washes the other.  You put one foot in front of the other.

Abe is a traitor to the people of Japan.  There is simply no other assessment that can be made of his actions (Abenomics, TPP, militarization, inciting hatred in East Asia, becoming America's hegemonic wing man, etc).  First Kan, then Noda, and now Abe, all bought by Wall Street/MIC/globalists.

Indeed.  All policies and laws will come directly from corporate boardrooms without the need for political middlemen.  Instead of politicians, there will only be administrators.

TTIP and TPP are never going to be signed now that the BRICS offer an alternative, OK maybe by nations who have nothing left to lose, sell or allow to be stolen, but US needs a few friends!

Give them Japan, Australia, Britain and Canada, no need to hoard, and the US will be OK. Four or five friendly nations is enough and they were the last great empire, so play nice! No need to defriend them completely!

It's like "Bizzaro World" going on in Japan, from what I'm able to see from the News Feeds and TV Programs.

Mr. Abe and his Cabinet is seen running Polices on the Govt News, while the Commercial Channels had the Backbone to have an Independent "Talking Head"  Analyst state that the Military/TTIP "Agreement" Talks where rushed in an attempt to have them cleanly wrapped up and signed by the time of PM_Abe's State Visit and Speech to Congress.

The fun part was that the Talking Head presented a "Survey" where 50% Opposed (20% approved) of the Military/TTIP Treaties.

Team_USA wants its Bond Buying, Economic/Military Vassal Colony at its heels; and PM_Abe wants USA to protect Japan at "all costs" via a "Partnership".  This is what happens when a Coalition Govt in power and the desperate Peacenik Opposition BOTH do not wish  to defend its own interests, land, and Sea Routes.

Have you seen any other Head of State ram its nose up USA's Asscrack with such enthusiasm?    What's to be gained from being the Bitch in a BDSM Relationship with TEAM_USA?  Did we like the way Dubya treated Blair?  I didn't.  GBR benefitted from having USA enforce its World Domination Schemes with its Wars.  This Asia Pivot looks to me as if they're pretty much determined to extend the Regime Change Racket into the Orient.  It may be prudent to look for any/all groups that resemble PNAC.

How?  Don't know.  I just saw the cover of Wired Magazine - it had a Mosaic of DPRK_Kim's and a Title that mentioned "how to take down a Tyrant".

It's safe to be cautions about Proxy Fights (and possible direct Sea Lane Events) taking place in the Korean Peninsula, Spratleys, and CHN's Territorial Claims affecting its SE Asian Neighbors.  The PHI is ready to take on USA's War Machine Again, so with it being the only "Catholic/Christian" Nation in the Region (note that S Vietnam was 15-20% Catholic (which were in Political Power), rest mostly Buddhist - hence why it fell), it should become a Major Pit Stop for the USA_DOD and its MIC.

That being said, IMHO, CHN's claims do see a bit excessive given its neighbors' claims based on their territories.  It's tough to scale back once claimed; and it does invite some sort of Armed Action somewhere down the line.

With the Military "Partnership", JPN will most likely be dragged into this.  I've several dozen JPN Channels at my disposal; and no one is covering any groups which advocate alternative paths.  It's as if the GHQ is still running things in JPN - no one knows how to maintain boundaries by simply saying, "No" on key items; and the main politician who did (Shintaro Ishihara) just retired after his spinoff Political Party got their arses handed to them on a plate during the last elections.

Who gained a good number of seats during that election might you ask?  THE COMMUNIST PARTY!!

ROTFL!!!

Good comment. It is unfortunate that the Communist Party has the name "Communist" in it. In may ways, they have the most reasoned foreign policy approach. Hatoyama/Ozawa had it correct, IMO. More equal toward both China and the US. That didn't last long. The CP strength shows that attitude is still alive amongst the hoi polloi.
