West Baltimore In Ashes: A Night Of Violence And Looting In Photos

Tyler Durden's picture

Monday evening marked a rather dark chapter in Baltimore history as demonstrators and police clashed in the streets following the funeral of Freddie Gray who died after sustaining a spinal cord injury while being taken into custody by police. According to CNN, a flier began circulating among high school students calling for a "Purge" (a reference to a film in which crime in America is virtually eradicated by allowing for the suspension of law and order one day per year) to begin at 3 p.m. Police also reported an allegedly "credible" threat from the city's street gangs who had reportedly vowed to ban together in an effort to attack law enforcement. The situation escalated quickly after that culminating in fires, rioting, looting, and, ultimately, the arrival of the National Guard. You can see the stunning images and a timeline of events here. Below, are more images from the chaos and a look at the aftermath...

We want our rights to loot to be respected...

Can you imagine how MAF they are going to be when all the cops are back in their squad cars next week?

Someone needs to explain to them revolution is not burning your neighborhood down.

It's OK, they're professionals. They don't even live there.

Al Sharpton will be around shortly to mop it all up.

Ashez, bitchez!

And, by the way, I think Vince's comment is dead-on.  Sharpton in 3... 2... 1...

Won't be long until the riots spread to other cities... My guess is that after 3 or more cities are smoldering, martial law will be rolled out...

Looks like the cops protected and served the shit out of those businesses and their owners.

Good thing Maryland has all that gun control. Just imagine how bad it could have been!!1

Until these pieces of shit cop scum murderers are arrested, prosecuted and thrown in jail then riot away people, Destroy, wreck, ruin, use violence because this is unfortunateky the language of TPTB. This is all they understans. This is the only thing that will work. Violence defines the world. 2000 years of religion had a crack at steering the human race away from this but it's failed miserably. We are no further advanced than the times of the French revolution and IT IS time to roll out the guilotines and we should start with congress and then work our way up.

There are remarkable similarities of USA foreign policy finally hitting home shores.

A police force that is blind to the tyranny of the government and comes down on the people and some innocent die. Very similar to how USA installed dictators send their police to shake down their people and how USA drones kill innocent people. The blowback is an irate minority. Sure the Balti's people are looting... but how much of that is Agent Provocateur’s who are purposely sent to discredit their cause?  The last thing the USA Gov't needs is another MLK.

Gangs are now uniting against this police force.  Are these gangs going to be media-marginalized just like how legit anti-USA drone groups, Anti-USA dictator instillation groups start in natural resource rich countries?  National reserve is protecting Balti’s capital like how Army, Marines, USA Mercenaries protect Embassies in different countries.

Remarkable similarities of a government that only knows force.

Obama is sure to explain that the riots were caused by lack of enough trade treaties, not enough QE, and by the tea party members of Congress.

Time for the nuclear option...cut off all welfare, food stamps, government handouts to Baltimore for 1 year.

The nuclear option sounds great but these negros are like a swarm of locust. They will just move on to the next unharvested field and eat it bare. Look out surrounding areas on the east coast.

Sounds like you are treating the symptoms rather than the disease.

It is tempting to blame the poor, uneducated, poorly socialized, unskilled, unemployed, etc. for their plight, and there are many arguments made that seek to demonstrate that their problems are the result of their own failures or the failures of (or lack of) their parents.  At the same time, looking beyond the symptoms for the causes of America's dysfunctions points to failed social experiments (bussing of students out of their neighborhoods for example), government expansion into stifling bureaucracies, regulatory capture, financialization replacing productive enterprise, and the flight of corporations to low-wage, low-regulation countries as prime causes of problems at home.

GATT, NAFTA, WTO, and other international trade agreements made it easy to move jobs overseas while maintaining access to sell products in the US.  The TPP and TTIP trade agreements are the next step in giving autonomy to multinational corporations and making countries and their laws subject to the trade agreements and their arbitration tribunals.  National sovereignty and the benefits of nationhood for citizens are sacrificed to corporate freedom and profits.  We people are treated as mere consumers and cheap labor providers.  Our rights and standard of living are mere collateral damage.

International trade agreements are key for the New World Order in which individuals and individual nations lose power to higher powers - corporations and those who control them.

I live out in the middle of Cornfield City, Midwest, USA. I keep seeing these damned military vehicles everywhere, every day. I take the major state road into my office, and every fucking day they are there. It is a new phenomenon, only in the past month to six weeks.

A friend of mine is a military guy. And most of the guys around here that wear a uniform are decent, salt of the earth types. This friend is about to be sent overseas for a month or two. I'm at least a little nervous. I'm also all stocked up at home, both food and water plus defensive capabilities.

Shit's getting real. I'm not liking the prospects depite having my SHTF plan in place. I've got one more area of my acreage I need to fence, and I'm working on it tonight and each evening I can.

Stuck on Zero's picture

That razor wire fencing is hard to put up, huh?

What's your excuse when Africans do the same thing in South Africa to the Afrikaners and other Africans?

Miles Ahead's picture

There you go BOTA.  Keep it real.

Some fool below said "there are much better ways to take up your greivances (sic)".  Grievances... oh my.  Yeah, they should hold a town hall meeting with... the police.  For killing young black men by rolling them around in a van while hog-tied.

Others refer to the death of a human being as "the Freddie Gray incident".

Grievances and Incidents.  That's White America for ya (well, some unfortunately... too many).  In any case, advice about proper ways to handle further Incidents and Grievances is duly noted by the boys in the hood.

Good luck and God bless.

This was angry mob violence.  I dispise angry mob violence.

Leopold B. Scotch's picture

Yeah.  There's no reason why you need a gun to protect yourself when the serve and protect crowd is always putting (their) safety first.

Yeah, they have a hard job, no doubt.   I can't knock them for backing off in all seriousness.  The idiots in this conversation are the progressive anti-gun crowd who always fall back to "leave it to the professionals" when it comes to guns.  Yeah, the ones that usually show up well after shootings occur and draw yellow chalk lines around victims, or the ones that, during school shootings, take an hour to get their tactical act together to finally go into the buildings to stop the violence.  Or the ones that watch you business, your entire life's work, go up in flames thanks to looting thugs.

Again, I don't blame them -- they want to kiss their kids in bed that night, too.  I do blame the anti gunners for their  naivity.  Which in this case of disarming the population gets people killed.

XitSam's picture

"To protect and serve"

The police have no responsibility, except in very specific, limited circumstances, to protect anything.

El Vaquero's picture

Only if they created the situation that caused you to be unable to look after your own safety are they responsible for your safety.  Other than that, if they want to finish their lunch when they KNOW that your life is in danger, there is no legal recourse for you or your family if something happens.  IMO, that is one helluva argument against gun control.  If you wind up in a situation where being armed would have kept you from harm or death, you or your family should be allowed to sue the government if it implemented gun control and prevented you from saving yourself.  It'll never happen that way though.

Mute Button's picture

Isn't that the true summary. The Ferguson verdict is released in full night fall at 9:00PM. Protect and serve takes back seat to looting...  The elites can't hide the pattern. They can only hide from the pattern detectors.

Note the lack of store owners with firearms protecting their stores like they did in LA and Ferguson.  When gun rights are taken away, you lose the ability to protect your businesses, homes, families and youself.

Summer of discontent on the way soon.

A few more of these will give them exactly what they want: Marshall Law

Marshall Law or enough guardsmen / feds walking around & it might actually blow up in their faces, the bundy ranch really did almost unite America...

I think they are trying to "Contain" the uprisings so that it doesn't spread, but something tells me the word on the street is largely different from what is going on in the media...

I respectfully disagree. I see this as engineered conflict. The Swine In Charge seem to be always a few steps ahead of the herd. Examine the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, Edward Bernays, Paul Mazur, Leo Straus, 911 (from almost any angle). We're ants in an antfarm, and the big kid who owns it is a satanic sociopath. Appologies for the pesimism. We can discuss baseball if you like.

Add to your list of pernicious deviltries the Designated Hitter rule.  Ever since that was installed America has gone downhill.  Coincidence?  I think not.

MonetaryApostate's picture

Like I said before, oppression & corruption are going to cause rioting, and the profiteering (QE) & bank extortion @ the top will probably be the straw that broke the camel's (Workers) back, but I'll just let you wait for the markets & banks to show you who's truly responsible for it all.....  (This government & nation are broke & it ain't no joke, they are morally bankrupt too.)

Concerning crime, patterns are often noted on the color of one's skin. In fairness, there are also criminal patterns based on the color of one's collar.
