Why Is This A Circle?

Tyler Durden's picture

It's no secret that today's US job market is tough and that having a degree doesn't necessarily guarantee you high-paying, stable, full-time employment. In fact, Moody's recently cited "sluggish economic growth and high unemployment rates among recent graduates" as factors in the ratings agency's decision to put some $3 billion in student loan-backed ABS on review for downgrade.

Still, we thought that at least the federal government would be interested in keeping the employment dream alive for the millions of students to whom it has loaned hundreds of billions of dollars in tuition money, which is why we assume the following graphic is simply the result of someone making a very poor design choice because if not, the government has just admitted that in the event you can't find a job after school, your only choice may be to take out more student loans and go back to school, thus staving off the harsh realities of the real world for another few years.

Put differently: why is this a circle?

Where do you think Mr. Wheel got the funds to design and prototype his new invention?  Not to mention the patent lawyers that had to be paid, the outlay for the Chinese sweat shops and the big marketing roll-out?

Yea because if u did have a year of success to have ur life flushed down the toilet for the rest of ur life like u could ever make that much every year.... Then the toilet bowl would flush in the other direction as u ran across the equator to keep from drowning...

Education has always been a contention between stealing wealth and breeding a new culture in spending money for education to make money. It's an absolute fucking joke. Unions will die again.

No point paying student loans.

By time you pay student loans for your degree, someone will be able to get your degree by plugging their brain into the matrix and downloading all knowledge relevant to the subject lol

the circle I saw in school was:

1) you take out a loan,
2) you buy drugs,
3) you take out a another loan,
4) you buy more drugs,
5) you take out another loan,
6) you buy more drugs,
7) go back to step 1 ...

It's a circle because even the best degrees like engineering are only effectively good for 7 years. After that time you need to relearn your discipline to be competitive with people currently graduating. Since inflation eats away at your savings by the time it comes around to relearning your discipline you have no savings to pay for it so you get loans.

Wash rinse repeat. The education system is a racket.

You are obviously NOT an Engineer, because if you were, you would know that Corporations that supply development tools to the Industry, also conduct Seminars on keeping up-to-date with the latest Technology.  Of course, the Technology in question is the tech that they happen to sell...

It's a classic money pump until the students band together and form a class action lawsuit against the Gubberment. At that juncture, the Gubberment will change the configuration to make it look like there is a way out from walking the hampster wheel for life.
