Or is it? Could it be that most Americans, regardless of the color of their skin, are perfectly fine having people of other races as their friends, neighbors and colleagues, and that certain people in positions of power are using their influence to manipulate the masses?

The point is that you can not judge any individual fairly based on group characteristics, even if their is truth to some of these group characteristics. The mind works and can only work by categorizing and simplifying reality, so to almost reflexively project some of these group characteristics on an individual in the first instance is partly unavoidable. The point is to become aware of the unfairness to another individual of this process and to question your own prejudgment, and then adjust your judgement if necessary. ( note it can also involve mistakenly attributing qualities to a person, but for some reason people do not complain about that :-) ).
So our responsibility is NOT to ourselves, to our self preservation, but to er on the side of giving everyone the benefit of the doubt. If you are a cop, who's job is to deal with these people, and you experience a very high proportion of bad people who are predominantly of one race and regionality, they should ALWAYS defer to political correctness.

Discrimination is a human right. In fact it is the basis for natural law. If you don't want to associate with certain people, you shouldn't have to. You should never be forced to give up anything you worked for to help people you do not wish to help.
I would have no problem with a blacks only restaurant, or a blacks only school. If that leads to success, then that means there was a case for it to exist. If the inclusion of different people causes that business to fail, then it means that integration is the problem. Segregation may in fact be the answer to our global problems. Those who come to the right conclusions will advance, those who don't will fade away.
If your actions lead to an unsuccessful outcome than that means that your selections and assumptions were wrong. If your actions lead to success than it means your selections were correct. That is how a society advances. Isn't that the basis for natural selection? Funny how most liberals will point to Darwinism as a foundation for thier beliefs but not let it play out in the real world. Poor decisions lead to failure and good decisions lead to success. By eliminating failure we have made it impossible to progress. In fact we have made it more advantageous to fail because by failing you get bailed out. Reverse Darwinism.

Since the 1970s we have been rewarding actions that lead nowhere and have forced the integration of people that have no business congregating. The exact same internal combustion engine, the same nuclear power plants, the same microchip architecture. Where are the fusion reactors, the quantum computers, antigravity propulsion? In 1986 we were treated to Back to the Future II. In 2015 there were flying cars powered by fusion reactors, holographic movies, food hydrators, hoverboards, and the abolishment of all lawyers.
