Friday Humor: Chinese Stock Chart Of The Day

Tyler Durden's picture

We know it's a little early for humor... but seriously, meet Beijing Baofeng Technology...

Beijing Baofeng Technology, the online video company with the worried boardroom, is the leading example of IPO excess. After jumping by the maximum-allowed 44 per cent from the offer price when it floated in Shenzhen just over a month ago, the stock has risen by the daily maximum of 10 per cent every day since.

Forget valuations; the company (“Storm” in English) has risen 17-fold in 26 trading days, making it far and away China’s best-performing stock this year. From being one of China’s tinier stocks, it is now valued at $2bn.

Nope, no bubble there.

If it's the same company I'm thinking of, it's no surprise.
A shitload of product, for very little money...pretty good prepper radio. And here's some links for programming them.

Bought three of their hand helds a couple of years ago. Great 2 meter HTs, and so cheap I wasn't expecting how good. Better frequency accuracy then my Fluke's original time base by a factor of ten. DTMF , CTCSS voice synth responses all for $30. Fully programmable from the keypad. If it's any indication of their stuff in general, they actually make product that is value for money. Publicly traded now, so that may not last long.

Just bought.  This babies goin' to da' moon. <SARC>  Oh crap, the HFT's just got me and I paid 20% over asking price again.  Man, those scalpers are quick.

Disclosure:  I'm long on magnetic inks, speciality cotton paper and ultra-high speed printers.  Shortly I may add poisitions to helicopters manufacturers in order to help rapidly dispense all of this printed paper.

Yeah like a stair-step chart or something.  Wait, maybe my chart is still 8-bit and it actually needs some anti-aliasing.  Not enough pixels is the problem in China, I bet.  We better order some more... call Ft. Knox.

What's important is whether they have a cap on how much a stock can go DOWN in one day, like over here in the good 'ol USA!

Go figure.

Yep. I have two  of them  on my desk right here. Great little 2m units.  Easy to program with the Chirp software.

I still keep wondering what backdoors the Chinese chip designers have included in the ASICs in these radios.

Ex-Goldman Sachs programmer Sergey Aleynikov found guilty of stealing company's trading code - @nytimesbusiness

For the second time in five years, Sergey Aleynikov was convicted on charges of stealing confidential computer trading code from his former employer, Goldman Sachs. The first time it took a federal jury just hours to convict; this time it came after more than a week of deliberation and an accusation of “food poisoning” and avocado tampering in a state court jury room.

The Avocado did it!!
