Mosby's announcement on the steps of the War Memorial Building was greeted with cheers and applause. She said she told Gray's family that "no one is above the law," and so as The Baltimore Sun details, the six Baltimore police officers involved in the arrest of Freddie Gray – who died last month after being injured in police custody – have been charged criminally, State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced Friday.
Officer Caesar Goodson Jr., 45, who was the driver of a police van that carried Gray through the streets of Baltimore, was charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter, second-degree assault, two vehicular manslaughter charges and misconduct in office.
Officer William Porter, 25, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault and misconduct in office.
Lt. Brian Rice, 41, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault and misconduct in office.
Sgt. Alicia White, 30, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault and misconduct in office.
Officer Edward Nero, 29, was charged with second-degree assault and misconduct in office.
Officer Garrett Miller, 26, was charged with second-degree assault, misconduct in office and false imprisonment.
Warrants were issued for the arrest of all six officers. It wasn't immediately clear where the officers were on Friday morning.
Mosby said Gray was improperly arrested on April 12 because officers had no probable cause to detain him.
In a detailed recounting of the events, Mosby described Gray being repeatedly denied medical attention by police officers, even as he asked for medical help and later was unresponsive in a police van.
Gray suffered a "severe and critical neck injury" as a result of being handcuffed, shackled and being unrestrained in the van.
Mosby said an investigation found officers bound Gray's wrists and ankles and left him stomach-down on the floor of a police van as they drove around West Baltimore. Despite his repeated requests for medical attention, they did not provide it and continued to drive without securing him in the van, she said.
Officers on at least five occasions placed Gray in the van or checked on him and failed to secure him, she said. By the time they reached the Western District police station, he was not breathing and in cardiac arrest, she said.
Mosby said her office did a "comprehensive, thorough and independent" investigation that began April 13, the day after Gray was injured.
"My team worked around the clock, 12- and 14-hour days," she said.
Mosby called on the public to remain calm.
"I heard your call for 'no justice, no peace,'" she said. "Your peace is sincerely needed as I work to deliver justice on behalf of this young man."

I was there before the INNER HARBOR revitilization was constructed. My mother worked for the legal counsel of the company (Rouse) that were the overseers of that construction project. I took 2nd place, in 1977 in a canoe/kayak race sponsored by the Baltimore canoe club that started at the inner harbor by the USS Constellation, and went out to circle Ft. McHenry & back. I thought I was gonna drown that day when I almost got run over by a coal carrying freighter nearby the Domino Sugar factory. I remember when it was scarier to go uptown to 33rd St. to Memorial Stadium to see an O's or Colts game. I was there when the jew Irsay bolted town in the middle of the night for Indy. I was there when a better jew (Modell) did the same thing to the city of Cleveland and moved the Browns to Baltimore. I watched BOTH jews get rich off of publicly financed stadium deals where they took all the profits (which amounted to hijacking a community).
But what do you want to do? You want to blame THE FANS. It's clearly 'OUR' fault. It's the IDIOT Romans fault for having the nerve to enjoy bread & circuses while they were being made slaves by an oppressive Empire.

My bias tells me that the evidence he slammed his own head against the protruding part of the door reduces liability on the part of the cops. That the other occupants didn't report a rough ride, just a thrashing Gray.
But the principles violated by his arrest obviate any concern about reduced liability. He saw cops and ran. So cops chased and arrested - WITH NO CAUSE.
That is the state of the union. I don't abide by rioting. Footage I saw had a white woman in a wheel chair attacked by people who had backup - it was an indefensible position she was in. Anyone trying to protect her was attacked by the mob, too. In the free states of America, I could use deadly force to protect her. Not in the occupied states. Based on the first videos that emerged, it sure as hell looks as if he were already paralized from the spinal injury, which means the police fucked him up prior to even cuffing him. If he was arrested many times before he probably has been "taken for a ride" or simply beat up by the cops in past visits with them. Running would be a normal response to prior meetings with cops. I don't know the law but isn't there something about probable cause? Is not running from the cops on sight kind of a bell going off? We are living in a time where an ever greater portion of society DEMANDS protection from the police. They are not going to get to have it both ways....a police state and everyone getting the benefit of the doubt. What do you want to bet that the Baltimore cops are under daily pressure and blame for high crime rates...at the same time they are being told to defer. Running away, by itself, is not enough to support probable cause. Same as refusing to answer questions or refusing to consent to a search is not probable cause.
United States of America V. Alexander Navedo:
In order to arrest an individual, the police must have “probable cause” to believe that the suspect has committed a crime. That means that there are facts available to the police that would make a person of reasonable caution believe the suspect had committed a crime. What the Court is saying is that running from the police, without more, is not a fact that will transform “reasonable suspicion” into “probable cause.” Therefore, if the police have reasonable suspicion regarding an individual, that person then runs from the police, they are not justified in arresting the individual based upon the act of running away.
The Court was also clear to reiterate prior caselaw that running from the police, on its own, is not a suspicious enough fact to create “reasonable suspicion”, making it justifiable to stop a person and perform an investigation. Therefore, running from the police does not give them a reason to stop you. It is, however, a suspicious fact and coupled with other factors may create a reasonable suspicion. It has been held that running from police in a high crime high drug trafficking area CAN create reasonable suspicion.
This line of cases protects a person’s right to “go on his way” and avoid talking to the police. It is based partially on the conclusion that there are many innocent reasons that a person may run away from the police, such as the desire to not be mistaken for a criminal and charged with something they did not do and the desire to avoid being a witness against another defendant.

What gets me is that a lot of people are acting as this whole thing is black and white (pun not intended.) Either the cops are right and the rioters are wrong or the rioters are right and the cops are wrong. Fuck'em both, I say. Had the rioters stuck to throwing rocks at police and damaging police stuff, the point of police brutality would have been a lot more salient. But the second they started burning down stuff that had nothing to do with police brutality, they, themselves, took attention off of a very real problem that is police brutality. They were acting just as poorly as the police were when they went after Freddie Gray. Add into that the brainwashing about how the police will protect you and yours that this country has undergone, and don't you dare defend your self, and you see people's property getting destroyed.

It's unlikely that we will see a race war in America that will kill thousands. Whites would have to be pressed hard before they will leave their envions to hunt blacks. The reverse is not true because blacks have more animosity and less to lose, but whites will repel attacks lethally, which will limit the violence. Black dependency will change that if the food distribution system breaks down, but then the emphasis will turn to containment.
If a 'racial' conflict does result in a lot of deaths, it will probably be from disease and malnutrition. The exception would be if the government has already decided to do away with most blacks, in which case we will see some event or events that put average Americans in another frame of mind. The most likely outcome of a racial conflict is a new age of racial separation.
Racial issues and the societal fabric unraveling are not mutually exclusive. I don't see a race war happening, but that doesn't mean that there aren't people who won't kill or get killed merely because of the color of their skin. The only thing that political correctness koombayah shit and things like "The Great Society" have done is to have forced us to ignore race relations. We incentivize poor behavior, then we're surprised when we get it.

The problem with complex systems is that they are nonlinear. The fact is most people in Baltimore (and the rest of 'Murica) are simply not well enough educated to actually understand why people are fucking losing it.

I've also noticed, for example, teevee ads show the dumb white guy picking up the old detergent that leaves your whites less than clean, while the smart and attractive black woman will pick up the new fangled detergent that not only gets your whites sparkling but also leaves your clothes smelling fresh.
