The Most And Least Popular GM Car Models, And Everything Inbetween
One month ago Zero Hedge showed "The "Mysterious" Source Of Surging Demand For GM Cars." In short, it was the US government.
Which is why we were eagerly looking to learn whether the Y/Y jump in GM's April government sales would be in the 20%, 30% range or more. To our surprise, it was neither, for the simple reason that GM did not report it. One does wonder why any time this website spots a troubling trend, and shortly thereafter it is quietly pulled: first with the gold physical shortage indicator GOFO, and now this.
Then again, perhaps it was merely an oversight and GM will promptly resume reporting the purchasing data of its single biggest customer... and rescuer: Uncle Sam.
Until then, we will present something far more politically correct, and a series which GM can not possibly hide under the rug: the total year to date sales of its various vehicles ranked from most to least popular.
A quick look at the list below reveals why economists are praying, for consumers' sake, that oil and gas prices stay low and remain "unambiguously good" for all those who rushed to buy gas guzzling trucks and SUVs.
Because if the plunge in oil and gas prices failed to spur a spending spree in the US in the first quarter, then a surge right back to historic price levels will hardly do miracles for American discretionary income once it again costs ~$100 to fill up one's gas tank.

Not a single vehicle on that list of interest to me. My wife needed a new car last autumn. We might have given a look at a Sonic, maybe. Instead, we got a good deal on a bitchin' Corolla. Similar price; similar type of car; it'll go 250,000 miles if it doesn't get into a crash. Why do anything else? A car is a tool. Buy the one that meets your actual needs for the longest amount of time. I see people driving all these light trucks around the city (SUVs, pickups, whatever they are). They love selling those things to women, and especially to women who haven't driven trucks before. They cut all their turns short, they can't get in and out of parking places, and they buy half again as much gasoline as they need to. Fortunately for me, my wife will only drive a manual transmission, and knows how to handle a vehicle on snow and ice.
When we got married, my now ex had a corvair. Friendly little car.
Any moisture on the road, and the ass end of the thing would come around and say howdy to you.
Wife or car? ;)
Hyundai makes good cars. I've had two of them and not only are they stylish they are reliable. I drive the Hyundai SantaFe, one of the most popular cars in southern Ontario.
Seeing as Kia and Hyundai are essentially "twin" Companies (with a lot of sharing of technology / hardware between them), at present Kia give slightly better value (warranty / cost / servicing)
You might be interested to know that, if your Sana Fe is a diesel, the engine was built by Kia (and is the same engine as they use in their Diesel Carnival 8-seater MPV)
Sorry, I owned a Corolla, that car was a piece of shit. Never again.
If your wife like a manual transmission, you should have looked at the Golf, Altima or the Accord. All are better cars in every way than the Corolla.
She'll only drive a stick huh? I got a stick for her to drive.
I'm making over $7k a month working part time. I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true and has totally changed my life. This is what I do... www.jobs-review.com
Gee, people still believe Jap cars are superior?
250000 miles? lol
And here is what you will look like when your little "Corolla" Jap car smashes into my F250 or my wife's Suburban..

Too many SUV's and pickups on the road to risk life to save a few dollars a year in gas....
<<< GM did not report it >>>
Eventually the curtain will be drawn. Extend and pretend also has limits.
Clearly, electric vehicles have no cred on the street.
Surprised Corvettes weren't #1. Bubba with trucks FTW!
Surprised Volt wasn't last.
Why spend on the Vette when you can get a 1LE Camaro that just as well on the track? The only real reason to have a Vette is if you're an old guy hunting young vag.
Ford Pinto is my baby. Had it painted in Fiery Red! I know, it's a little ostentatious but what the Heck!
Gremlin bitchz!
PFFT Base model 20 yr old Honda Civic or go home.
Is it me or is the top 10% of this list all fleet cars for cops, RX sales chicks, rentals, etc.
It's you.
No expense spared for the kleptoligarchy! Notice all the brand spankin' new vehicles for the police and other .gov agencies?
They must be parking the 2 year old models in a lot somewhere, or burying them.

My brother has the #8... It was tough 4 me to toss it out, but here's the story...
I only bet horses on one day per year.
My brother likes the #8. I'm not against it. But I've pretty much figured out that in THE DERBY, it's not a matter of taking who you like, but who you're OK with risking tossing out.
That's about it.
$2 SUPERFECTA = 18-5-3-8 on a straight ticket is my call.
I guess the upside to all of this is that GM doesn't build the Yugo and that more people will have work from the government driving these cars to dealerships for all the recall work that needs to be done. Okay, maybe not a real "upside"...
Funny, I can't tell the difference between a Gubmint Motors product and a Yugo.
Both have the same quality issues.
What a load of crap. Adjust the table for fleet sales of crap cars to rental car companies, and then it might make some sense.
I drive Chevy heavy halfs for the company truck and a F-350 Cowboy Cadillac for my POV and I'll tell you straight up, My dick feels very secure wrapped up in 2.5 tons of steel as opposed to the 1500# of plastic that I have in my wife' s RAV-4.
I will tell this story though.
We were near Dayton heading east, coming back from a funeral. We came into traffic dead stopped for no reason, on the interstate.
Four ways on and stopped behind a rig in the right lane of a three lane highway.
We were hit dead on behind by a texting driver who was traveling 60 mph.
It totaled the ass end, undriveable, of my wife's Matrix ('old car') and pushed the Pontiac nose into the driver's seat.
Since the seventies , when the Toyota pickups were unkillable, I have been a big fan of Toyota product. We were hit squarely, by a 1.5 ton projectile traveling, 60 mph and really were roughly nudged in the passenger compartment, no air bag deployment.
I would like to say that I thank the Toyota engineers for a product that preserved my wife's and my life under extreme conditions.
Great Googly Moogly, look at the new pickup truck sales!
Farmers, ranchers, roofers, and cement guys must be doing GREAT! Let's hear it for the blue collar workin' men.
Cadillac sales, on the other hand, suck bigtime. White collar workers must be hurting something terrible.
You can tell a lot about who's prospering and who isn't in the economy by the type of new vehicles being sold.
top 4 sellers sell more than all the rest combined.
Proof that there are a lot of imbeciles in the USA.
Gubmint Motors = crap product.
But give the people what they want- no money down, cash back, 72 month financing!
W00t!
Re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic was never this much fun.
daily driver 1998 Chevy Astro Cargo Van 4.3l 238k for 12 years. just purchased a 1992 Toyota 4Runner, 232k body made in Japan, and engine swap 3.0 151k, fixed it up and better than a new car.
Where are the infamous Volt sales???????
lol
Someone owns one in my city! I spotted it in parking lot. It was like seeing a sasquatch and I didn't have my camera with me.
You would have to be a real American worker hating piece of crap to buy a GM product. Not only are their cars total pieces of shit, but they build all the cars in Mexico or belize or some other 3rd world hellhole.
Personally, if my vehicle wasn't manufactured within 100 miles of Hiroshima or Nagasaki, I wouldn't buy it.
Oh, we're gonna talk cars .... well, my little black Kia Soul .... isn't that anal .... gets me to San Carlos 4 days a week .... my budy Mike leaves his F150 at home .... and mooches a ride from me .... well, he pays the entrance and brings the joint .... nobody rides for free !
Grass or ass, nobody rides for free!
Admit it, you are hitting it when he doesn't bring the grass for you...
Oh, yeah .... Rafael and I took the Kia to Bahia Los Angeles .... to collect rents and pay the care taker .... he paid the gas and food .... 36.7 mpg (1.6 liter, stick) .... he ran the numbers .... so, I decided .... I really don't need the injectors cleaned ! LOL PS: Korina came over and cooked steak and eggs .... I am not gay !
i dint see a dodge on that list
Dodge is owned by GM?
Since when?
PS- Fiat owns Dodge. The article is about GM vehicles.
Dodges are made at a hangar .... in Turin, Italy .... then they are flown here in 747 transports by Fed Ex ?
Had a 69 Dodge Polara 500 with a 383 race motor.
Would run all day at 100 mph
( well not all day, it only had a 32 gallon gas tank)
Would seat four across on the bench seats, with our scrawny college asses.
Only car I've ever owned that I wish I still had.
24 mpg four barrel with a vacuum guage.
In my lifetime .... cars have gotten a lot better .... all things considered .... not like the National Public Radio BS .... ALL things really considered .... in a renaissance libertarian realistic thrive on facts .... not afraid of the truth .... fuck it !
GM ruined Saab and took a .gov bailout. If I could launch a hydrogen bomb to a building it would be GM tower at the top of my list!
Kind of bitter, Michael Moore .... aren't we .... maybe, you should change your avatar to liver bile duct ?
Not bad Mr Mone.
Well I can't afford a Hot Rod, so.....I got a hod rod lawn mower. a frame off restored 1282 International Harvester Cub Cadet. Has cast iron deck spindles, a cast Iron rear end and axles like a car and a 16 hp Cast Iron Kohler flat head that I custom modified. Mows with a 50 inch deck billiard table smooth and walks through 2' high grass like it isnt even standing,
Next project, building a single bottom moldboard plow for it.
You need to turbocharge that Kohler engine!
might be oldtimers, i thought GM competitor Fiat was part owned by another government...Libya.
Turns out I was wrong. Still good to know that the cream rises to the top.

All that Q/E in the UK and Europe is being put to just as good, non-1% use.
Ponders, whats the difference between QE to the 1% or 0.001% and government contracts to the same?
There are many Car Manufacturers are available in market and they need their car to be popular. But the thumb rule is the Best Featured Car only give best
output so it's depends on people what they prefer most and what they like worst, no one can help it except the manufacturer. So for all manufacturers be careful while preparing the vehicle just focus on what market want
