"Bush vs Clinton" - If The Election Were Held Today, Who Would Win?

Tyler Durden's picture

According to a new poll conducted by Bloomberg Politics/Purple Insights there is now even less of a clear frontrunner for GOP presidential candidate with than there was several months ago. The reason: Marco Rubio’s support among GOP primary voters has been rising while Jeb Bush's has fallen off, depriving him of his leading spot in the polls.

The poll was conducted by Purple Insights, and found that while Rubio's support has doubled from 5% to 11% since a similar poll conducted in February, Bush has dropped 5% to 11%, putting him into second place behind Rand Paul and Scott Walker tied for first.

Some of the key highlights from the Bloomberg poll:

  • Scott Walker leads when first and second choices among likely GOP primary voters are combined — a positive sign for his prospects in N.H. He's backed by 24% in that case, followed by 21% for Bush and Paul and 20% for Rubio.
  • Paul leads the GOP field in support among independents, with 18% support. Bush is relatively weak among independents — while drawing support from 15% of Republicans, he has the backing of just 6% of independents.
  • Trump was selected by 8% of likely GOP primary voters—up 5 percentage points from February.
  • When asked to choose whether Clinton or Bush would be the next president, 33% of N.H. likely general-election voters said Clinton, 27% didn't venture a guess, 22% said someone else and 18% said Bush.

And while there is much confusion in the GOP field, Democrats are far more clear who they will pick as their candidate. With 62% support among likely Democratic primary voters - her best showing in this poll since November, Hillary Clinton has an insurmountable lead, suggesting the relentless wave of negative stories about the Clinton Foundation and her use of a private e-mail server have not hurt her among the party’s base.

Clinton’s closest New Hampshire primary competitor, Sen. Bernie Sanders, has 18%.

But since the outcome of the primaries has already been largely pre-determined, and America will soon to be presented with the next dynastic iteration of the "Bush vs Clinton" false dilemma, here is how the key (non) question breaks down as of this moment: if the 2016 election were held today, for whom would you vote?

It is not only Bush who is "close" to Clinton. According to the pol. three GOP candidates are now within three points of Hillary. In addition to leading Bush by a small margin, she is also ahead of Paul (46-43%) and Rubio (44-42%).

Bloomberg suggest that these are "warning signs" for Clinton. Since the last poll in February, three of the top-polling Republican candidates—Bush, Paul, and Rubio—have moved into striking distance and are now within the poll's margin of error of tying her in hypothetical match-ups.

Perhaps because nothing makes a competition more "credible" than giving the impression that there is an actual choice.

And while nothing shows more clearly that America has absolutely no real options if all it boils down once more is another case of "Bush vs Clinton", some naive, delued invidiuals - elsewhere known as "independents" - still believe that the US democratic machine is not only functioning but well greased.

“Clinton’s strength in the primary remains historic," said Purple Insights' Doug Usher. "But she’s facing the laws of political gravity among independent voters more quickly than her campaign might have hoped.”

Clinton's numbers with independent voters were destined to fall at some point, Usher said, as the campaign becomes more fully formed and intensely competitive.

Among independent general-election voters in New Hampshire, Clinton is tied or nearly tied with Bush, Paul and Rubio. She does better against Walker with this group, leading 42 percent to 36 percent.

Poll respondent Stephanie Korb, 57, a Republican dental assistant from Belmont, N.H., said she is leaning toward Rubio.

“He seems like a less offensive choice than the others,” she said. “I want to hear what the candidates want to do to turn this country around and you're not hearing that.”

...

Part of Paul's strength is his ability to attract independent voters, a key group especially in New Hampshire, where they can vote in partisan primaries. He's supported by 18 percent of independents who said they were likely to vote in the Republican primary, easily the most of anyone in the field. That means he's going to want to see the state's Democratic primary remain a lopsided affair, prompting independents to stick with the action on the Republican side and continue to support him.

Bush is relatively weak among independents. While drawing support from 15 percent of Republicans, he has the backing of just 6 percent of independents. That's a potential problem for Bush, especially if he runs poorly in the Iowa caucuses set for the week before New Hampshire's primary. A Quinnipiac University poll released last week showed Bush in 7th place in Iowa, so he might need a top finish in New Hampshire to rebound.

One can read more about America's so-called decisionmaking process over at the Bloomberg website.

I love that movie. The idea that the people become so utterly stupid that they begin intentionally salting their fields, with no idea of what they're doing or why the crops start dying. Things like knowing about history or having the knowledge of what the Romans did to Carthage and why becomes not something that ensures survival, but instead only ensures that people hate, fear, and attack you.

Good thing people could never be so hopelessly dim in the real world. Because if they were, we would all be so utterly fucked...

In 2013, during a visit to Israel, Paul told the Jerusalem Post that it’s “none of our business” if Israel builds new settlements in east Jerusalem. He added that it wasn’t America’s place to tell the Israeli government how to defend itself or opine on whether or not the country should withdraw from the Golan Heights.

From http://modernhistoryproject.org/mhp?Article=FinalWarning&C=9.1

Under the section titled, Jimmy Carter, The Trilateralist President.

Commission members must resign when they accept positions in the Executive branch, but they remain loyal, and usually rejoin the group when their service is complete. About 40% of the American Trilateral members joined the Carter Administration. In all, 291 members of the Trilateral Commission and the Council on Foreign Relations joined the Administration. Among the Carter Administration officials who have been members:

  • Jimmy Carter (President)
  • Walter F. Mondale (Vice President)
  • Cyrus Vance (Secretary of State, nephew of John W. Davis, of the J. P. Morgan bank who was the first President of the CFR)

‘NYT’ and ‘MSNBC’ leave Marco Rubio backer’s Israel agenda out of the story

US Politics

Philip Weiss on May 10, 2015 3 Comments

There are a lot of elephants running around the room in this piece in the New York Times today titled, “Billionaire lifts Marco Rubio, Politically and Personally.”

Senator Rubio has vaulted to the front of the Republican presidential field, and the billionaire who is expected to spend $10 million to try and make him president is Norman Braman, 82, South Florida auto dealer and professional sports team owner. The fact that Braman is a big Israel supporter appears just once in the (interminable) piece: his “ardent commitment to Israel.” We don’t learn that a few days after Rubio was elected to the Senate, in 2010, he made his first trip to Israel and met Braman and his family there. We don’t learn that Braman is Jewish– and that he believes that Israel’s creation revolutionized Jewish life in the west.

And so the authors, Michael Barbaro and Steve Eder can get away with this stretcher:

Pressed on his financial ties to Mr. Braman, Mr. Rubio said in an interview that he saw no ethical issue. “What is the conflict?” he asked. “I don’t ever recall Norman Braman ever asking for anything for himself.”

I just watched Rubio on the Senate floor saying he wanted Iran to recognize Israel’s existence before the U.S. cuts any nuclear deal with Iran. Does that have anything to do with the fact that he long discussed Israel with Braman and went there with his donor immediately after he got on to the national stage? I think it does, but our leading newspaper can’t even ask the question, about perhaps the most important foreign-policy issue of the coming election.

More whitewash, at MSNBC. Another piece on Braman that doesn’t mention Israel, and claims Braman wants nothing of Rubio.

“Norm Braman is a great man, a pillar of the South Florida community and someone who I’m personally close to. I’m very proud to be associated with him,” Rubio said in an interview early Saturday evening, after he walked up and down Greenville’s Main Street shaking hands with voters. He repeated past assertions that there’s no ethical conflicts in the relationship because Braman has never asked him for political favors.

Again, just days after he was elected to the Senate, Rubio was traveling to Israel to meet Braman there. Till our press even addresses the issue of the Israel lobby, people are going to form dark and conspiratorial views of the extent of its influence. And until it addresses the issue, some conspiratorial ideas will actually have merit. We need sunshine. Especially from Jewish writers, who understand the role of Zionism inside Jewish life.

And by the way, a piece in the Times today about Republican hopefuls adopting a “muscular foreign policy” at a South Carolina Freedom Summit was more frank about the Israel lobby’s presence in our politics. Nick Corasanti reported:

[Wisconsin Governor Scott] Walker, who does not have as much experience as some of his potential rivals on foreign policy, sought to demonstrate that he is working to address what could be viewed as his greatest weakness. Hours after he left the stage, he boarded a plane to Israel for what is being billed as a “listening tour,” which he has said includes a meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to a schedule of his trip obtained by The New York Times, Mr. Walker will also tour the Western Wall in Jerusalem, meet with members of Parliament and the Israeli Defense Forces, and take a helicopter tour of Israel.

But aside from a quick mention during his remarks, Mr. Walker was unwilling to discuss the trip.

Costa Rica, Central America's vaunted democracy, suffers from a similar malaise in politics, even though the party alignment is much more fluid and parties come and go somewhat.

ABSTENTISMO (abstention) is viewed as the winner these days in Costa Rica.  Nearly half the electorate did not vote for president in the 2014 elections.  If ABSTENTISMO were a candidate, ABSTENTISMO would have won, gaining 45% of the potential vote, more than the "winning" candidate.

ABSTENTISMO wins here in the US as well.  Only Nevada gives voters the choice of NONE OF THE ABOVE (sometimes).

WHY, oh why, is the option of NONE OF THE ABOVE not included in polls?  Perhaps, TPTB are afraid of the answer!  Just perhaps.

This is part of the huge disinformation campaign propagated by the mainstream media which is largely out of touch or intentionally publishing disinformation.  Nobody I know like Hillary even democrats who say they will stay home and not vote.

I've been in the bay area for a few months and have officially realized that there is no "left wing" in this country. Even in San Francisco. All it is is a place where a bunch of "liberals" drive around thousands of homeless people in their Mercedes. ..with an Obama bumper sticker. All of them are so full of shit. I talk to mostly europeans/australians/new zealanders who are "middle class" and all of them are doing better than even "well off" Americans (myself included)  They get actual vacations, benefits, healthy food, and a decent wage for the people at the bottom. You go to my hometown in Ohio and all you see are a bunch of sad, depressed, desperate people who think they are "middle class". HA! Anyway, my political "center" has moved rapidly to the left.

Jeb Bush or Hillary Clinton:

This either a "Hobson's Choice" or a "Morton's Fork". Either one, it's bad news for America And the American people.

A Hobson's choice is a free choice in which only one option is offered. As a person may refuse to take that option, the choice is therefore between taking the option or not; "take it or leave it"

A Morton's Fork is where a character is presented two alternatives, A and B. If the character chooses A, then something bad happens. If they choose B, a similar or identical bad thing happens — but for a different reason.

In other words, no GOP nominee can hope for a fraud-free majority against Hillary, thanks in part to decades of uncontrolled immigration. To have any chance of success a GOP nominee will need 45 per cent of the Latino vote. No GOP nominee has ever gotten that. The decision has already been made. And after the trial, I would hang the cunts like the dogs they so surely are.  Not just your lot but right back here?????  You call this fucking shit we are forced to live under a fucking democracy?  A republic?  A right fucking piss take is what I call it.

I resent that you claim they should be hung as "dogs". No canines desrve to be hung. In appropriate circumstances, Dogs should be put to sleep in a humane manner. Most vicious dogs are that way because of wicked human masters. Now as for the Bush's and Clinton's  - if and when they are properly tried and convicted under the Rule of Law, with Constitutional due process, they should executed for treason in accordance with the law-if a jury of their peers deems it to be appropriate. I believe (though I may be wrong) a firing squad is the legal manner.  And I don't believe they should be waterboarded or tortured  - though they may deserve it - our country should never allow for such cruel and unusual punishment. We need to control our passions and emotions  -this country needs to go back to being a Constitutional nation ruled by Law.

In Korea, for example, you will see LIVE dogs slowly strangling to death outside of butcher shops, it supposedly makes their meat more tender. With a lot of publicity about it in the West it is possible that they do this out view now.
