American Cops Are More Heavily Armed than Front Line U.S. Combat Soldiers In Active War Zones

Thanks Danl. Like I figured, the low wage thing is bullshit, I know many people that would love those beni's and wages. But I suppose they could all get jobs as mercenaries somewhere in the world for better pay.
Just think, you can be the 'average' OTR Truck Driver with a couple years exp., work 6 days a week, take the 1 off somewhere near Podunk,,,,probably with a crappy Truck stop restaurant, take 34 hrs off and go again for another 70 hrs on, for the next 6 days, get Home when? oh,,,about once every 3-6 weeks. Luck be with you to get the time off you requested. Odds,,,oh, about 1 in 5. Benefits,, maybe a good BCBS, but Retirement? 401K at best. No Union, unless you are union,,,which ain't many drivers, fwiw. Pay about the same as the Rookie,,,maybe a bit better if you are more exp. Forget the 'II' grade; ain't gonna happen in truck driving, tho maybe WalMart,,,w/exp,,,years. Or Union. Maybe. Which might be less than 4% of total drivers.
Hells bells, I could be working at TacoSlut, I suppose, as Mgr and not do as good either. It ain't easy when you don't have great skills. Money isn't everything tho. Maybe I should have stayed in college. Nahhhh...

All the weapons in the world doesn't change the fact cops aren't soldiers. Cops expect to go home at the end of the day. The police themselves grossly overestimate their own capabilities. Most cops will never fire their weapon in the line of duty, only draw it in anger fewer than half-a-dozen times in the course of a 20-year law enforcement career. Most of the criminal suspects they deal with do not present hardened violent criminal targets but are usually non-violent petty offenders or untrained persons. Dealing with this element gives most cops a false sense of their own martial prowess. In reality most cops are poorly trained. Their law enforcement education is a broad-based one that covers a wide swath of disciplines they need to be familiar with, but familiarity is not the same as mastery.
Do I need to point out that many police departments do not maintain the same physical fitness requirements that are standard in combat arms units, and since most patrolling is still vehicle orientated a great many cops are physically unfit and unable to perform on what the military would consider a combat effective niveau. That aside, although the general populace thinks 911 is a great thing, clearing 911 calls has become so pervasive for most patrol officers that it has eroded their basic investigative abilities. All in all, in spite of all the tools and gadgetry available to them, modern American cops have become rather pathetic creatures.
I have also seen time and again most cops lack the martial spirit and the wherewithall to commit to the type of assaults that are standard for military combat units. The initial Waco BATF raid comes to mind. The feebie raid teams are used to dealing with soft targets "kicking down doors and taking names" theyr'e genuinely shocked when anyone puts up the least bit of a fight, and woefully out of their depth. I've seen this on all levels, down to solitary patrol officers dealing with minor offenders. Cops are above all safety orientated, and good for them. But that's not the same as possessing miitary training, a military mindset and the will to commit. All the toys in the world can't change that.

Thank you. I had been trying to get clear on exactly those thoughts, and you put them down, IMHO, perfectly clearly. A soldier sleeps in a foxhole in the snow, and may still be killed in his sleep by disease or shrapnel from artillery. The policeman sleeps in his comfortable home with his family. No comparison.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. ANY attempt like that by the cops will be met by the 1,000's of home-arsenals out there. I keep getting the feeling we are regrettably only a few years away from some style of "Reverse Waco" where some SWAT team goes to the wrong house and gets lit up on TV or recorded on a phone.
As history has shown, If/When a market crashes you will have so many people wiped-out with nothing to lose. Push em too far and what will come back will not be pretty. The 1920's comes to mind.
All the Batman-Armor in the world wont help when you are outnumbered and outgunned. But it will look great at their homes where they will be staying, defending their families in the event something as bad as nationwide riots occurred.

I understand the body armor, but only swat teams should carry full auto. I am somewhat surprised that cops feel the need to carry full auto M4s when facing protesters. One cop opens up and others join in - suddenly you got dozens dead and major riots erupt.
If I were a cop in the blue wall facing protesters I would not be worried about the mob. Rather, the worry would be shoot and run snipers.
SWAT teams should surround the suspect's house and wait him out. There is NEVER a need or justification to bust in and shoot citizens in their own homes. That's just "we had to burn the village to save the village" thinking. If a surrounded suspect CHOOSES to go on a hunger strike in his home and die of starvation, then let him. But you don't teach a community to be peaceful by acting as violently as you can. You teach the opposite.
Of course that would be ideal, but I can't see the current mindset trading the apparently misspent life of one measely consumer for the considerable investment of time and money in such a procedure. Easier and more convenient to shoot away, get one's jollies and be done with it.

A lot of American citizens have access to better weaponry than most "terrorists" the US Army is fighting in the Middle East. So arming domestic forces more heavily seems kind of logical from the perspective of the American government. It's just a matter of time and hell breaks loose in America.

Just a quick look around on Amazon and you find full body armor, helmets, gas masks, nightvision, everything you need to protect yourself. Weapons are of course dependant on what state you live in, but American citizens can arm themselves with a lot more fancy stuff than people in sub-saharan Africa.

There are serious differences between small arms, other than small arms (light and heavy weapons and systems), non-weapon equipment and accessories, and techno tripe/bling. You can't even buy a class 3 weapon anywhere in the US without a year long ATF wait (unless you are a pig), and US pigs are not facing high explosive and anti-tank weapons.
The armor the police employ is more than some military individuals employ (personal and vehicle armor) but the police arms (the impotent end of the small arms spectrum) are nothing compared to the firepower of any army combat arms division.
I think GW is actually taking some tweets out context, and perhaps comparing apples to oranges, but the devil is in the (missing) details - even the 82nd airborne is too vague - infantry regiment or support battalion??? and it if happens to be an artillery regiment, then someone's BS detector better be going off, even with no military experience.
The US police are being trained in Israel as an occupation force and now believe they are at war with the American public.

There is a general feeling of unease among those that are awake. The prepper mentality has permeated all aspects of our society. The rich are buying their doomsteads in New Zealand. The spooks have moved to Utah. The military is outfitting Cheyenne Mountain. DHS has bought enough ammo to fight a 20 year war, and the local cops are arming to the teeth. Meanwhile the civilian population is buying enough guns and ammunition to outfit an army of 50,000 men every two days.
There is a storm coming. We can all sense it. How and when it breaks is anybody’s guess.

When WalMart is selling prepper buckets of dry food, you know that needing them can't be too far behind.
I say no to the prepper buckets like that. I'm more interested in seed that I know I can grow into food. SHTF will see a need for local farmers, and lots of them. Rip up your lawn and plant a garden, folks. Prepper buckets are a one off thing, and once they're gone, you had better have some other way of getting food. Learn about healthy soil. Find a stable and ask if you can clean the stalls and keep the manure to get started. Learn about compost, and remember that anything that you take from the soil, you must put back in! Stick to open polinated seed, as even some of the hybrids have problems with induced male cytoplasmic sterility. Learn to save seed. If you can find local cultivars, include those. It's spring time. Start now if you haven't!
It is really not so much a prepper thing as a common sense thing at this point in time. Besides that most preppers are fat and will easily be overcome no matter how many beans and bullets they may have.

When you're employed in the 25th most dangerous profession in the US, you need plenty of weaponry.
I can only imagine the kind of armaments carried by people in the really dangerous professions like logging, fishing and farming.
Maybe cops need the weapons because they have no balls.
It is a good thing they have those weapons. It will be a piece of cake for the people to take them and use them where it matters.
Think of how easy it would be to create a situation that brings out a heavily armed swat crew. A handful of concerned citizens with old hunting guns would clean up and soon be in possession of military grade weapons, ammo, body armour and radios and maybe even an armoured vehicle as well as other sundry items.
Something else to consider..... Unlike soldiers, police generally live in the community. It's a good policy to find out exactly where. Don't forget to find the homes of local judges, prosecutors, media types, prominent Jews, politicians and other riff raff. Don't post that info online until the balloon goes up. We shall see who goes to whose homes.
Your prepping should include civil war as eventually those who produce will have to fight for the fruits of their labours. They will be opposed by all those who live off those labours and create nothing but grief.
