Armed Robbery In Midtown Manhattan Jewelry Store, Shots Fired
New York's thieves are getting bolder.
After years without any violent crime in that mecca of hedge funds, midtown east, moments ago the NYC Scanner reported that there was an armed robbery in a jewelry store at 510 Madison where shots were fired (seemingly unaware that NYC is a gun free zone) and while 1 suspect was in custody two are still outstanding.
Manhattan: 510 Madison Ave Armed Robbery at a jewelry store with shots fired @NYPDMTN officers in foot pursuit 1 in custody 2 outstanding.
— NYC Scanner (@NYScanner) May 12, 2015
A quick google map check reveals that the "jewelry store" in question is likely the Tourneau store between 53rd and 54th which most financial professionals, not to mention tourists, in that part of Midtown have been to at least once.
It is unclear if the thieves were after a Rolex or Patek, or instead, an Apple Watch.
More as we get it.

Fucking shiny trinkets! WTF is wrong with people?
An iWatch implies an iPhone...might as well leave a trail of gold coins to the safe house.....
I've heard of a 'Potato Clock:'

But, what is this "Apple Watch" to which you refer?...
lol... Blue collar crimes
Must have been a Jewish diamond merchant.
Otherwise, this would not be newsworthy.
Rumor has it that thieves made away with a Hublot Big Bang, which is a $500 Hamilton Jazzmaster dressed up in a gauche outfit, and sold for $11,500 (actually, they're being sold for 1/2 that now, fashion being fickle and all, but still are 20x overpriced).
What we need is more QE & ZIRP for Wall Street, so they can buy moar overpriced trinkets reflecting lack of knowledge about quality and display their philistine ways.
Get to work, Mr. Yellen!
wow...in broad daylight
oh, and btw, what's the difference between broad daylight and just plain ole fuckin' daylight ???????????????
Business not going so well? Insurance Claim = Profit! (Keep the jewlry, we'll come kill you for it later on)
While they distract you with petty theft stories, the real crimes are being committed...

This is a good find! Let's hear it for the distractions'O'Plenty!
this is the problem with jewelry: it is subject to theft
rather than having jewelry stored in .. well .. "stores", a much better idea would be to secure the jewelry in a central jewelry reserve
sort of a jeweler of last resort
people would not actually wear their jewelry, but instead would have receipts for their jewelry
the receipts could be physical pieces of paper, or preferably digital records of their ownership
You are really making me laugh. Now with those pieces of paper or digitized records we can begin a new ponzi w only 4% of "assets" held against sold "calls".
Moar, moar.....moar.
"White guy, scruffy beard, balding and has limp"
Corzine is in town
The paper money must have hit the peasants. Right, Fed?
No, because they don't give a rats ass one way or another it's called trickle down economics for a reason...
So they can buy up everything at fooking fire sale prices.....
You know, with all of that funny free money...
Dinkins 2.0.
I'm thinking the robbers wanted all the Timex collectables
And the bankers in Midtown laugh...."you call that theft? Rookies!"
The insurance is on a par with that gleaned from the miracle collapse of the building next to the former twin towers on 9/11.
It's not theft if the government (CONgress, Executive Branch & Judiciary) gives you a license to steal.
But I'm sure the next Puppet Congress & POTUS will clean things up. /s
Friggin amateurs have to use guns to rob!
Why is this on ZH?
the cost of bringing precious metals to the people!
This story couldn't be right. Handguns are banned in NYC.
Who said they were hand guns?
DUH!
Looks like they were armed with erasers...look at what they did to the cab! Ban erasers!
Nahhh.. Spray paint... And lots of it.
Spielberg edited them out and digitally inserted walkie-talkies.
they robbed the store with cell phones from their waist bands; just lucky the boys in blue weren't around to empty their magazines into their backs.
wouldn't it be easier to just go crooked banks and take their stuff?
Does this count as an uptick in employment?
maybe, but for sure, according to the broken window theory, there will be a rise in GDP this quarter.
If this doesn't call for a militarized police force, a 24x7 surveillance state and renewed calls for stricter gun control laws, I don't know what does.
And, of course.... gold, bitchez!
Time for a Lockdown!
Time for a beatdown!
poolshark,
I must be in a good mood! I'm screamin'!

Are these perps more guilty than Corzine because they used guns, or stole less?!
Liberty is a demand. Tyranny is submission.
I was gonna say the real robbery is happening out in the open, down the street.
And nobody gives any fucks.
Oh, but my guillotine and I are taking note; and notes.
Liberty is a demand. Tyranny is submission..
Give a man a Gun & he robs bank. Give a Man a Bank & he robs the world.
freeshit for everyone
I read about a few voilent mugings in central park over the last week or so. Sounds like N.Y. may be getting back to the good old days.
The crooks best be careful and not run afoul of the mayor Deblosio I understand he runs a tight ship.
You are more right than you know, wmbz. I see it everyday. 20 years living and working in the Big Apple...
He's on a ship?
Where?
Can we sink it?
I enjoyed NYC when Mayor Lindsey was there -- violent murders just about every night from the Bowery thru East Village and all the way uptown ....
Charles Bronson New York City was the best New York City.
Fonz was just talking about getting his wife something special.....
That's funny.
Gun Free Zone eh?
Good thing NYC is a gun free zone.
Everyone is so much safer... well, if by 'everyone' you mean everyone who lives by taking the product of others' labor by force.
If 'everyone' means someone who works...well, not so much, no...in fact not at all.
If 'everyone' means someone who works, then, 'everyone' is who the thieves and taxmen (taxmen and taxmen?) want to be SAFE FROM.
In the spirit of: "Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo."
"Criminals with guns take guns, leave only criminals with guns to resist the criminals with guns and criminals with guns."
Liberty is a demand. Tyranny is submission..
Just who are these Mad Men?
Whatever happened to the daring jewelry robbery from last year, anybody caught?
In monaco? Probably an insurance scam. The family is basically a jewel mafia. Lev Leviev. He flips his diamond profits into illegal Israeli settlements among other things.
Rumor has it the crooks were hoping for a huge silver and gold take, but then one of them checked the spot price and said "f-k this! Take the diamonds!"
dun corzined dem jewels bitchez
Armed robbery, world-wide. Zio-banksters still at large, raping and pillaging.
They sell a $242,000 watch. Crazy.
I was wondering how a store that sells just watches could afford a joint on Madison Ave. Now I know.
Culturally, thanks to the Kardashian phenomenon (see Rich Kids Of Instagram), luxury watches have become the new 'jewels', due to their resaleability.
So many asspirational dummies. It was only a matter of time I guess.
With every purchase of a watch, you get a 1985 crown Victoria with a trunk full of cocaine.
Thats how.
No one buys a 200,000$ watch, just like no one buys a painting for millions of dollars, its just ways to move money/drugs/contraband.
A wash!!!!! Crap, I never even considered it. I will look askance at every big money sale I see now. Is this what they are doing when they flip condo's in NYC?
Govt: Sir why did mr. Locimotokachuna transfer 120million dollars to your account yesterday?
Drug Dealer: I sold him this painting, art has "asthetic value".
Govt: Hmm, ok sir, everything looks to be in order, have a good day!
Don't tell me, it was a group of white middle age men.
Welcome to De Blasio's NYC where armed robberies occur in the midtown buisness district in the middle of a work day.
...while his cops are in another section of town choking a cigarette vendor to death.
Excellent point.
He's on an EL AL flight outta Newark returning to Tel Aviv...
The only thing to prevent this is more random searches of citizens. That and more gun laws.
they could set up stations on all entry points and have the TSA do their strip searchs on everyone entering the area.
I don't think random searches of citizens will do the trick. We need random arrests, random beatings and the random murdering of citizens in order to really get their attention.
Really, the NSA did nothing to stop this? you do know there are more cameras and microphones per square inch, than any other place in the world, in that area? Were they on coffee break? Thank god for the gun ban in that area, the outcome could have been much worse, a criminal might have been hurt.
we finally had the dream space of .gov in america. All video all the time and defenseless sheeple. I guess they forgot to post the sign that said "this is a crime free area, no smoking, no guns, no sex".
P.S. maybe the robbers heard about the new 10 year tax free new business arraignment and decided to do a start-up.
All that surveilance equipment is there to capture white christians in the act of denying services to sodomites.
Less than 60 million people in the US produce all of everything you see.
The other 260 million lives on what was stolen from those 60.
And those 60 million are for status quo?
WS attracts the bandits of all countries. I'm sure this is an Al Qaeda stunt!
Right across the street and didnt hear a thing.
i assume they will not admit guilt and give back half the jewelry. Wait, were they wearing suits?
3% seems to be the going rate mjudging from the funny papers
Well if criminals just will NOT obey those gun free zone laws, then we'll just have to take away guns from EVERYONE else in the world!
Can you imagine the travesty of justice that would have happened if the robbers were carrying 32 oz cups of soda?!?
.
Thats the Tourneau watch store.
I used to walk by that place every day on my way to work.
And yeah, there is some really expensive stuff in the window.
"NYC is a gun free zone"
Hahaha that's fucking funny!
