Is This Company's 74% Surge In The Past Week Confirmation That Grexit Is Imminent?
Update: Fortress has responded to the market action...
Fortress Paper Ltd. ("Fortress Paper" or the "Company") (TSX:FTP) announces that the Company, at the request of IIROC on behalf of the TSX, wishes to confirm that it is unaware of any reason for the increase in market activity in the Company' stock today.

In the last 5 days, a little-known paper company from Canada (that we have discussed previously) has seen its stock soar over 74% to 15 month highs...
Fortress Paper (and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Landqart AG, a leading manufacturer of banknote and security papers) announced at the peak of the 2012 European financial crisis that it has a material bank note order reinstated which sent the stock soaring and represented a clear indication of the possibility of Grexit, Spexit, or Itexit at the time. This time, the stock is soaring with no news yet - though we already know that Drachma designs have been created - and everyone involved in the EU deliberations is preparing for a parallel currency.
FTP's last Quarterly presentation

As we noted previously, this could be the simplest hedge against a disorderly Grexit that is available.

And the 6 banknotes (designed by Paul Vatikioti) of 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 and 10,000 drachmas have pictures of Cornelius Castoriadis, Odysseus Elytis, Yiannis Moralis, Georgios Papanikolaou, Melina Mercouri and Maria Callas...

no need for 1's and 10's i guess. after the hyperinflation, the 10000 will be the new 1000
We just need a leaked photo to show up somewhere, and wa-la Grexit.
Talk about value created after they are done with Greece paper, they can get to printing the new national currency of Canada.
My question is what will they call the next currency in Canada....what could be stupider than the loonie?

What's wrong with the Loonie? ;-)
Looney
could it be that it's... CADdish?
Because its from Canada and its not maple syrup or beer. Other than those two things, the Canuks are pretty worthless.
Downvote away bitchez!
Boonie?
50,0000 of Varafais and 100,000 of Putin.
If they get the gas through, the drachma will trade par with the Euro
How long is ZH in Fortress Paper before they published this BS article?
last time I tried to pay for gas with a c-note, the cashier said they couldn't make change.
"no twenties"
manager came out, gave me fives and ones
there's your printing press. tptb want everyone who uses cash to use small denominations only. hence more of them are about to be printed on that fancy threaded paper.
tptb want everyone who uses cash to use small denominations digital
Low cost Uranunium, Oil, Gas, Hydro-Electricty, winter proof everything, and hockey players.
Also home to a big chunk of the world's resource companies' headquarters, and home to the exchange where most of their stocks are traded (TSX+TSXV).
I like Looney ;)

Better short Fortress.....they might be getting paid in the new drachma!
Two-nie is way better -it is two toned!
They should have called that one the dub-loon.
Looney Skip Rooney
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Looney-Skip-Rooney/1477216109160294
"They" didnt call the current one a loonie either.
Toonie - $2 coin
UH.... we call it a dollar. The Loonie is simply the $1 coin because it has.... wait for it... an image of a Loon on it. Do try to keep up.
If the Drachma were exchageable at par with the Russian Ruble then the denominations are about right.
Ahhh , the creation of value using paper and some ink. Nice work if you can get it .
the BIS has FTP on their rolodex.
Show me the Drachma!
Time for Greece to meet its next ex-currency.
Long Fiat!
Sheesh, each new issuance of fiat get closer to looking like actual Monopoly "money".
I kinda dig the artsy look.
Pillars of Greek society?
You will know it's the end of the game when retailers only accept genuine Waddington's Monopoly money.
Monopoy Rule States:
"If the Bank runs out of money, the Banker may issue as much more as may be needed by writing on any ordinary paper."
Greece will stick with euro until the end ... even if it means to stay in a crumbling empire which is coming to an end.
Is the guy on the 1,000 note smoking a doobie?
Does look a little glassy and it ain't from the Grappa.
What's Greek for "choom" ?

Might be the next $100 bill
Well, at least their all the same size.
I'd like to see Yanis Varoufakis on the $1,000,000 note, naked from the waist up flexing his biceps.
I'd like to see him looking out from behind his wife with a scared look on his face.
Or Draghi filling his drawers in fear of that young lady's horrific attack.
or how about Blankfein in his "sticking tongue out" pose ?
so I should just print these on my color printer, right?
Restructuring? De La Rue is doing diddly.
If you lick the back of a Drachma bill, can you stick it to something, and will it give you bad breath?
Fiat Totality Printers
Where do I pre-order? How much American fiat will buy how much Greek fiat?
How much for a blowjob ?
I will gladly blow you for a hamburger today ?
Concurrency?
Whos going to be in charge of minting the chits? [Coinage] They're probably going to be plastic, so the Greeks can just buy some 3d printers for that. :-)
ah, the beauty of "stock pushing" based on rumours. creating... value?
actually, if I was the Greek FinMin and I wanted to print a new currency cheaply, I would ask some established, trustworthy suppliers that are already on the market
like the Banque of France, that issues various currencies for a dozen countries. or BankItalia, that does the same
oh, but wait... that's eurozoners. never mind, then. guess it has to be the expensive version. with built-in "market expectations" surcharge
You'd think Zimbabwe would've developed some domain expertise.
the Zims have. they accept SA Rands, USD, EUR, and of course Chinese and Russian currencies
their government... well, it grabs whatever it can, too
the funniest thing about that sorry country is: in what currency do companies account in?
most, I understand, use that of their biggest foreign customer
CONTAGION
Drown you MOUTHERFUCKERS
The Amero. Jade Helm now makes sense.
Ha - I'd love to see them roll out a new American currency with Jade Helm, to reflect the strength that is our diversity. Maybe replace Washington on the $1 with Jimmie "JJ" Walker?
Two currencies ? More black market ?
In what currency do you don't pay your tax in ?
+1 LOL. too bad the best humour is often the least "PC"
of course the EUR for the black market and the new one for taxes. with the taxman asking "owww, can't you give me euros?"
Nah, the stock seems to have been dropping consistently like a stone throughout the euro crisis...in all likelihood Canadians won't be printing Drachmas.
bitcoin is a ponzi scheme.
but who says EVERY FIAT CURRENCY OUT THERE ISN'T?
they just keep replacing the old monopoly money with new monopoly money for thousands of years.
bitcoin has plenty working against it, but the question is how long can a ponzi last.
the euro lasted 20 years for greece. if bitcoin lasts that long it's got another 15 years of ponzilife ahead of it.
Now if only William Banzai could find a way to shoehorn Georgios Tsoukalos' (Ancient Aliens wild hair guy) personage on one of these Greek banknotes, I think we might have a winner...?

SORRY. STOCK ROSE ON A "REPORT" (ZH?) THAT THEY GOT A CONTRACT TO PRINT GREEK NOTES.
I want to see the orders of magnitude stamped across them like the old German postage stamps.
Last minute engraving correction after each number: x(billions)
My vote was for that picture of the Kermit puppet.
Not the one bent over, it haunts me.
The 10K note sure looks a lot like Simon Weisenthal.
WRONG AGAIN - NOT GREECE BUT......................I GIVE YOU A CLUE........BOUGHT A BUNCH OF MUSHROOMS THIS MORNING
The Greeks will literally have a chance at a new start. Knowing the fucking Greeks, they will fuck it up
Chris Chelios for president!
another peak stupidity moment brought to you by yield seeking algos.
A fucking paper company goes up 74% in five days because they may have an order for paper?
MY GOD A BUSINESS GOT AN ORDER FOR SOMETHING IT MAKES!!!!! STOP THE PRESSES, IT'S UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Why stop at 74%. Why not drive the price up 500%. It would make as much sense as the 74% move. Fuck, the executives can sell thier stock and make more money than they ever could doing real business.
I just described our fucking bullshit economy right there.
obviously FTPs subsidiary Landquart AG is a monopoly and the economy is booming
I'm pissed I didn't buy that and converted the winnings into real currency.
Cash is the new gold in this coming Greater Depression.... Cash will be outlawed and confiscated because the banksters are losing control. Gold of course will be contraband and the gangs of DC, Paris, Berlin, Rome etc will fight the "War on Gold"...
Too many people are waking up and understanding the shit sandwich they've been delivered by their governments and central bankers. TPTB need to put a lid on things. No chance.
Money is like water, it always travels the path of least resistence.
Ahem.
Why are Greece's banks massively outperforming?
Why is the Greek 10 yr only at ~10%?
China & Russia are stageing naval drills a few kms away. Would be made easier with a few friendly bases in Greece. US and EU can't let this happen.
Greece will not exit the euro. Some face saving bullshit makeup will be put on an arrangement but Greece stays. Long Greek assets "para quem tem culhão".
The Euro is dead man because social monetary policy doesn't work. Eurozone = moral hazard - doomed to fail for this reason. You have no sovereignty when somebody else controls your money supply. Greece should default, and Angela should demand them and get it over with. Save everybody a lot of hassle. Stick a fork in it - its done.
Canadian bank notes are all plastic now, no paper. http://www.bankofcanada.ca/banknotes/bank-note-series/polymer/
Fiat is in the eye of the beholder
