"Disastrous Mess" Amtrak Train Derails In Philadelphia (5 Dead, 6 Critical, 50 Injured) - Live Feed
UPDATE: (via AP)
An Amtrak train headed to New York City derailed and tipped over in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, mangling the front of it, killing at least five people and injuring several more. Some passengers climbed out of windows to get away.
Mayor Michael Nutter, who confirmed the deaths, said the scene was horrific.
"It is an absolute disastrous mess," he said. "I've never seen anything like this in my life."

Shortly after 920pmET, NBC Philadelphia reports an Amtrak train bound for New York from Washington D.C. derailed with approximately 240 people on board. Officials say 8 to 10 cars left the tracks and there are at least 50 injured. Given the images below, somehow there are no fatalities.

Inside the train right after the accident...
Live Feed:
NBC10's Keith Jones arrived at the scene shortly after 10 p.m. and said the injured passengers he saw had minor injuries.
Janelle Richards, a producer for NBC Nightly News, was a passenger on the train. According to Richards, the train was supposed to arrive in New York at 10:30 p.m. Around 9:20 p.m. Richards heard a loud crash and people flew up in the air.
Richards says there was a lot of "jerking back and forth" and "a lot of smoke." Richards also says she saw injured passengers who were bleeding.
Patrick Murphy, a former congressman from Pennsylvania's 8th District and Iraq War veteran was also on the train. Murphy says he was in the cafe car when the train "crashed."
"It wobbled at first and then went off the tracks," Murphy said. "There were some pretty banged-up people. One guy next to me was passed out. We kicked out the window in the top of the train car and helped get everyone out."
Murphy says a few of the victims were injured to the point where they couldn't move and one person needed a stretcher. He also says paramedics arrived within eight to nine minutes.

An Associated Press manager who was on the Amtrak train that derailed in Philadelphia says he was watching Netflix when the train started to decelerate, like someone had slammed the brake.
Paul Cheung says everything started to shake and people's stuff started flying everywhere.
He says it all happened "in a flash second."
Cheung says another passenger urged them to escape from the back of his car, which he did.
He saw passengers trying to escape through the windows of cars tipped on their side.
He says the front of the train was mangled. He described it "like a pile metal."

killing brown people and destabilizing the world takes precedent over infrastructure...........
I took the Metro North for years. The decline in that time was scary. I started to drive at the very end. I told my wife that there would be an accident. Sure enough, one in Bridgeport and another on the Hudson that killed people: Yes, F35 cRaptors are more important.
Yeah, I used to take the 'regionals' north for years from here in Richmond to DC to visit my sister who lives in Centreville.
I've gone back to driving up since the train derailments have increased (to appease my daughter, who works as a dispatcher that responds to train derailments). Not to mention the clientele on the trains has gone south.
I hate driving the interstate, but I have found a route that is tolerable.
I wish they'd have seat belts
For Fuck sake there must have been at least 8 school bus accidents this week alone....and no seat belts.
We pay for a gross bloated govt....at least give us some seat Fucking belts
And moar cowbell
This song, at some point, cites more cowbell (at 2:48) ...

I think it is a hoot, but I can see why others might not ...

Cooter
No. This one is the all time great!!! Foxy News is all eye candy now..

Seatbelts are for non-government vehicles.
This was a government train- the laws don't apply to them!
I wonder how much of the $15 trillion QEs was spent on infrastructure?
None- that's what the "trust funds" are for- LOL
I thought about this when I took Amtrak from Boston to NYC + back last month: I thought "Is there gonna be a derailment? Amtrak's kinda incompetent." And here we are.....
They're lucky they didn't wind up in water - several places north of NYC where Amtrak goes over water.
The important thing is that this sort of incident doesn't impact the returns to investors in America's infrastucture like Berkshit Hathaway
I was just telling my wife how I'm glad im outta the corridor. Indian Point, Baltimore, Boston pummeled with snow, robbery in Midtown Manhattan where I used to work and now this. I hope everyone is ok, but yall can have that chaos. I like my quiet street in a Hamlet in Ohio now. Garden begins this weekend.
Anyone remember that AMC show called "Rubicon?"
It opened (1st show) with a train derailment, engineered to kill someone who knew too much and was going to spill some dirty secrets.
This is straight from the script, probably to kill or injure someone(s) who knew too much (funny how Navy SEALS participating in alleged killing of OBL have not fared well since that fairy tale....oops, raid took place), or as a distraction of some sort for what has happened or will happen.
How many times have "conspiracy theories" turned out to be "conspiracy facts" in the last 100 years (rhetorical: more times than the bought- and-paid for MSM would ever compile a list of or publishers of American school textbooks would ever concede).
Rubicon, the show, is the reality in more ways than one.
Sounds like Secretary of State Browns Aircraft Crash.
This just in BTW from the White House not less than 10 minutes ago...
White House Speaker Confirms this was not a terrorist attack or a Racially Motivated Attack... That is all at this time.
S/
Well truth is stranger than Fiction look at the Reasons for the Iraqi War, and the False Flag for Persian Gulf War with babies taken from their Incubators.
You probably mean Bill Clinton’s Secretary of Commerce Ron Brown
who died when his plane crashed near Dubrovnik - or shortly thereafter.
Trains have derailed when the cargo weight has been erroneously underestimated for the braking capacity of the train. Please not one more thing to add to the obesity epidemic.
Miffed
TIS, your's is the 2nd comment in a week that the AMC series "RUBICON" has been mentioned. Although it is four years old it definately is worth watching. The story line of false flags, profiteering, and murderous cover ups is quite believable. For those still addicted to the TV, I highly recommend it. I give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars baby!!
ISIS did it.
Liberty is a demand. Tyranny is submission.
Quick, get "Gene Rosen" on camera.
I'm beginning to believe America is being sabotaged on purpose by those wanting to buy up stuff dirt cheap...
After the World Trade Center I'd beleive anything at this point...
Anyway, that paramedic was super hot... :D
"there was a lot of "jerking back and forth" and "a lot of smoke"
so...a normal tuesday night at my house?
Any Trayvons or Mike Browns go down?
Dindus travel by Greyhound, not train.
E Howard Hunt's wife died like that Rubicon story, but it was a plane. She had 10K in her purse, and was on her way to talk to a reporter !!!!!!!
I wonder if there were any Japanese with billions in real or counterfeit U.S. Bearer Bonds on board...
...we already know that there were politicians and regulators on board.
Any White Vans with dancing, jubilant Hasbara dancing & filming derailment like in Super 8?
Amtrak, incompetance at every single level in that money losing armpit.
Two Questions:
1) Who was on the train that the WH needed scrubbed.
2) How many train and bus crashes were there per year, in the days BEFORE Obama took office?
Oh, and 3) What is ECOMCON?
In some other news, Japan just set a new speed record: http://gas2.org/2015/04/27/japanese-maglev-train-goes-record-374-mph/
So we keep having train crashes in the East Coast, a proposed 'high-speed' train between SF and LA that's never gonna get built, and Elon Musk wants to usher in an age of Hyperloops. Nice.
Does Amtrak actually own these tracks or are they running on a private railroad tracks? As they do through the middle of the country. Do we even know what happened, who's to blame? No? Highspeed rail works around the world, but it has to be properly maintained and funded. Here in America, Amtrak generally pays fees to the private railroads to run on their poorly maintained tracks. (Because, you know, fixing and maintaining shit costs money.) Amtrak and rail isn't exactly the problem, it's how it's actually run, that's the problem. Not to mention the ungodly hours rail workers put in, and the bizarre scheduling they have to abid by, to have one of the last standing, high paying, blue collar jobs in this pathetic country.
I believe that would largely be Union Pacific in Cali. Your post makes good sense. Given the current model of overusing undermaintained common tracks does not particularly scale to high speed or bullet trains. They will need to lay down a fresh set of tracks, something that obviously won't happen any time soon, if at all.
I work in the industry for Uncle (our term) Bathtub (ZH term). This might give a bit away but recently we had major flooding in my area. Uncle Bathtubs crack team of management wizards chose to run Amtrak across a flooded section of track. THE VERY NEXT TRAIN derailed across that same track. I mean, common.... This is what happens when we allow enterprises who only care about the cheapest buck possible to maintain the track, and mind you, THEIR track, to run Amtrak across this country.
High speed would have to be a completely government run, independent project, and funded and maintained with high costs. We can't even fix our potholes anymore... So yes, highspeed could work, but it will never happen. America would rather continue the banana republic slide of the last 40 years.
As long as Manhattan is pristine and the Cheesepopes are protected in their bubble of the finest food & wine, fine art, opulent abodes, having a near force field protecting them from the commoners who aren't too-big-to-fail (because they lacked the resources to buy CONgress), all is well.
The thing that keeps me up most nights? No one does a fucking thing, and they get to sail off into the sunset as we all burn. I'm fine with the apocalypse, so long as those responsible pay a price to boot.
Apocalypse will be a class event.
And if you have to ask, you have the wrong class
Thanks for the input. One of my good buds worked for the state as a railway safety engineer - his niche was crossings. His boss's job was to play solitaire. From all of the stories, I could tell that it was an organization that barely holds itself together, with any work happening only when motivated individuals (there are some) take some initiative to make things better, like one of the non engineers putting in hours to design a solution and migrate from an old crashy windows GUI to a web portal. Regarding railway safety, these guys do a decent enough job with crossings, and they are the proper channel for recommending track repairs/upgrades. Caltrain and BART, SF Bay Area's two major train services, both use Pacific Union tracks.
For a horribly underconnected area like SF Bay, BART coming to San Jose is a huge deal, regardless of any future derailments.
It's a patchwork of track ownership, mainly Amtrak. But in various regional sections it's shared with the likes of SEPTA (Philly), NJ Transit, CSX, etc.
That said, and as a rider on Amtrak between DC & NY, at some point several years ago they figured they needed to be competitive with the flights out of National (think Delta & US Air shuttles to LaGuardia & Logan) and so upgraded the tracks and brought in the Acela train to cut the time down. Considering the airport checkin, TSA, transportation between LGA and downtown NY, it comes very close - an frankly, it's a relaxing & convenient ride. However, they also sped up the ~30 year old Metroliner cattle cars that were never designed for this type of abuse (the ones in the above photos). Frankly, between the increased speeds and the some of the yahoo cowboy engineers who think they're fighter pilots, it's amazing this didn't happen long ago.
On another tack, Amtrak is probably one of the most 'politically correct' employers in DC. ......similar to DC's Metro rail system, ye of multiple crashes and general insanity.
Metaphor for The U.S economy...
Welcome to Obamaland!
Euphemism would be more like it.
WE NEED TO FIX OUR INFASTRUCTURE INSTEAD OF PAYING FOR AN INTERNATIONAL WAR MCHINE !!
we derailed some folks
And being one of those 'folks' I am happy to be alive! There, in the midst of the smoke and chaos a lone figure crept toward me in the twisted wreckage when suddenly I realize it was Brian Williams!!! I said, 'Brain!! So glad to see you .......but aren't you supposed to be in Nepal saving the natives, rescuing climbers and delivering babies?" "Yes" he said. "But I took several days to come back to Baltimore to stop the riots and broker a peace between the Blacks and every other of the 100s of other ethnic groups!!!.......while delivering babies". "Wow!!" I said! You are amazing! "Any chance you can get the Republicans in congress to stop acting like liberal Democrats?" ".....you know, like whining babies?" :-)
These are vehicles for the goyem slaves. The zio-overlords take helicopters or armored vehicles to and from work. Now, how can we divert more money to Israel?
just wait, .gov will use this as an excuse for the next shitty job and GDP numbers...
Ha ha. Some folks couldn't get to their job interviews.
Metaphors come to life
I'm sure the 2nd Ammendment caused this. (Feinstein is thinking)
Incidently, that cunt has been quiet lately. What gives?
She was due for a delousing & new skin replacement before one of the scales broke free.
This is what happens when you use the same technology from 120 years ago to build your infrastructure.
In New York, your train skips off the rails every few minutes... the entire system relies on sheer numbers to work in the sense that if you have enough cars, hopefully enough of them grab the rail to pull the rest back on also lol, if fatalities increase, add more cars to improve the odds of not de-railing.
The tracks are not regularly cleared of debris/inspected, always shit on the rails/fallen branches / boulders/broken brick/building material from collapsing subway tunnels etc... all it takes is the wrong object to catch the rail and the wheel in the wrong way and the train does back-flips.
The rails should be upgraded. . . from standard steel rails/tracks to pipe style "roller coaster" rails where the trains catch the rail, not only would it be safer, it would allow the trains to move faster/smoother.
Rails should also be elevated to provide better protection against flooding/debris/people being stupid and falling on tracks.
Dre4 remember shovel ready jobs?? so much corruption the money is always bled off to enrich the few- our economy life style and quality of life only reflect the cess pool of DC..you cannot have systemic corruption without the failure of public utilities and services ...
So what happened to the 2.3 Trillion Rummy-Dummy told us about on Sept 10th, 2001? I'm still curious.
Clearly, they had been using that to invest in America's infrastructure, education and water quality but just forgot to put it in the ledger.
usurious,,
"killing brown people and destabilizing the world takes precedent over infrastructure..........."
well partly right, also graft and fraud make the 0.1% more wealth, romans built roads that last centuries-our infrastructure falls apart before completed in many cases-
at the top the crimes are so large few of us can comprehend..Hank Paulson is one example ..give me the money and do not ask what I do got it?
US is catching up with 3rd world countries like India, Bangladesh
Shhhh...the US is already there, that's why they keep increasing the price to leave: Renounce US Citizenship Fee = $2,350 and rising. One day they will make it illegal for anyone to leave.
And Atlas Shrugged. Life imitating art?
It hasn't gone unnoticed that the book has now become the script in more ways than one. She was quite prophetic.
The important part was when she said that the regulators and government officials create rules that encourage/cause businesses to fail and then blame the "free market" for causing the failures so they can regulate even more.
So glad the U.S. has spent $3.5 trillion on QE and kept interest rates at zero for 7 years, jerking around with monetary policy "wealth" effects, instead of pushing Congress to do its job employing people to upgrade the infrastructure.
Clearly a false flag operation ;-)
They were some media and a politician onboard to immediatly declare it was simply an accident ...
Add track upgrades to the list of things to be done.
Don't forget, there's about 10 million bridges throughout the USA that are past their best before date and are about ready to one day just collapse right when a convoy of school buses full of children are crossing them.
NL, Come on... Don't be a Debbie downer. Think on the bright side of things. Maybe the weak bridges will collapse as the NWO military assasines convoy crosses them. Now. Don't you feel better?
