Pope Warns "Powerful People Don't Want Peace Because They Live Off War"

Tyler Durden's picture

Over the course of the last several months, we’ve witnessed meaningful escalations in multiple conflict zones across the globe. In Syria, an ISIS incursion into the Yarmouk refugee camp transformed an already desperate humanitarian crisis into what U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called “the worst circle of hell,” as Palestinian fighters sought to repel ISIS and al-Nusra while dodging a barrage of barrel bombs launched by the Assad regime. In Yemen, the Iran-backed Houthis literally ran the US puppet government out of the country as deposed President Hadi fled to Riyadh prompting the Saudis to launch a series of airstrikes that were invariably accompanied by “collateral damage” (i.e. dead civilians). Finally, Ukraine continues to be plagued by sporadic fighting as the Minsk agreement has proven to be a “cease fire” only in name.

As the intensity and prevalence of global proxy warfare increases, expect the ‘important’ nations pulling the strings to ramp up the arms race, funneling billions into defense industry coffers in the process. Indeed, the top 100 suppliers alone pulled in nearly a half trillion dollars in 2013 and that doesn’t count China, which is now the third largest arms exporter on the planet.

Against this backdrop, the Pope has a rather depressing message for the world’s children: the world’s most powerful people don’t want peace.

Via RT:

Many powerful people don't want peace because they live off war," the Pontiff said as he met with pupils from Rome’s primary schools in the Nervi Audience Hall.

Talking to children during the audience organized by the Peace Factory Foundation, he explained that every war has the arms industry behind it.

"This is serious. Some powerful people make their living with the production of arms and sell them to one country for them to use against another country,” the Pope was cited by AGI news agency as saying.

The head of the Catholic Church labeled the arms trade “the industry of death, the greed that harms us all, the desire to have more money."

“The economic system orbits around money and not men, women,” he told 7,000 kids present at the audience.

Despite the fact that wars “lose lives, health, education,” they are being waged to defend money and make even more profit, the Pope said.

“The devil enters through greed and this is why they don't want peace," 78-year-old Francis said.

For those who are curious, here are the top 20 'evil' profiteers who dabble in the death trade:

The Residential Schools in BC were a Federal Government creation, not a Church creation.

Take off your CBC headrones and figure it out for yourself.

Many natives have great things to say about those schools, and still visit the nuns that taught there. They were dragging a stone age culture into the present, which surely was a bizarre task.

Go inquire into BC public schools and foster homes for molestation horror stories, though it might not be as shrill and exciting for you.

This pope is hardcore. Kids go in expecting nice stories about Jesus, love and forgiveness, instead the pope lectures them about the "industry of death". Mommy and daddy will have to answer some difficult questions.

  • Says the creator can create everything, from all life on this planet to life on other planets.
  • Says it is not his job to judge alternative lifestyles if they live with peace in their hearts
  • goes to rome, again lives in apartment instead of palace most of the time.
  • gets fat on PASTA. not fillet minion, caviar, lobster, cuts back on pasta because a doctor told him to.
  • Is currently godteir trolling the heck out of Al Gore. If Gore converts to catholicism as he has been hinting, the church of ALGore  (climate change) wont have dedicated leader.

Yes. Powerful people use war to benefit themselves. And only the state can go to war. So instead of going after money, why not hold the state responsible?

OR

You can forget all that and tell the world we need a global carbon tax to give these people more money. And while you're at it, stump for a world government. As if that will change anything about war.

what was the list for WW1?

Most of those "USA companies" are majority owned by foreign interests acting in the interest of foreign shareholders, most of the US defense industry has been offshored to an entity* not American or controlled by Americans.

Nearly every shipyard and port in America is owned or controlled by foreign corporate entities, and they all issue "public debt".

there is no more US defense industry, it's been offshored, intentionally, now America is in the dumbing down stage, next comes "nuclear disarmament for food program".

The entire US tax code is based on war provisioning. Ask any academic, CPA, lawyer, buerocrat. But somtimes they use it to fight wars on poverty, wars on women, wars on illiteracy, wars on racism, wars on rescuing stray animals, wars on womens rights to choose, wars against the people who do not accept the right of other people to adopt lifestyle by not baking them diabetes inducing wedding cakes so then .gov points a gun at their heads and make them do it, all manner of wars on every issue on earth.

The pope is only telling half the truth. All money and people who have it in the USA are part of the wars. Not just the MIC and .gov Which is a joke because they have a printing press.

Actually it is not power so much as where that power is derived from.

If one is selected from a free society to hold judgement over those that are accused of aggressing against other's Life, Liberty, and Property, that power is maintained with care and wisdom.

If one's power is derived from theft and violence, and control over that theft and violence, that power is maintained with ever increasing levels of theft and violence--tyranny and war.

Liberty is a demand. Tyranny is submission..

I can't confess to being a particularly good catholic, being more of a cherry picker of the best facets - doing unto others as you would want done to yourself, espousing love for your neighbours, the seven catholic virtues that include the four cardinal virtues of prudence, justice, courage and temperance, along with the three religious virtues of faith, hope and love/charity - leaving the rest of the dogma where it belongs: In the past. The old testament in particular fills me with a peculiar dread reserved for psychopaths and horror films.

Anyway, I like this pope more so than others and said as much when he was elected. I haven't been so comfortable with my faith since John Paul II and it is still encouraging to me that his jesuit background that espouses evangelism, courage and academic excellence continues to shine through the trappings of the Papacy in his humble words and deeds.

I do understand those who attack catholics because of the paedophile scandals in the recent past. I share the same disgust and revulsion, as well as the utter shame of it all that stains me personally as a follower of this faith. Organised religions on the whole deserve the negative epithets and I share the low opinions that are expressed generally about them, including my own.

We each have our own path in this surreal and often funny journey of life. Who am I to judge yours? :). I do think it is a terrible injustice to incite hate and scorn on individuals who genuinely try to do good with all their hearts and I reckon Papa Francis is one of the good ones. After all, he sounds just like a ZHer. :)

Was reflecting on small countries joining with US Hegemonic Policies. So many Countries play the 'game' with the USA.

It is just like Politicians having lots of Friends. You can like a guy with a ton of friends, but are you really a good friend and if you do what he wants does he really appreciate you or are you a tool.

I'm not into politics at all, so I have to remind myself of this by writing about it.

** The Politician is only good if he convinces you he is looking right at you, listening to your words carefully, and you feel he understands, respects, and relates to your position or what you are going through in life **

I have a list of like 25 Lies that the US Government has told us about Legislation it enacted over the last 20 years or so that are complete Counter Intelligence Operations.

I've posted them before, so just skipping it.

Like the Panama War, Kosovo War, War powers Act 60 Days max Combat, Campaign Finance Reform, Graham-Leech-Bliley Act, Clinton Email Server, 2008 Financial Crisis Reaction and that no one saw it coming, TARP, QE, ZIRP.

I kinda like Pope Francis but think Romans and the Roman Church knew Counter Intelligence shortly after Greece.

I think that's par for the course here at ZH to attack groups as a whole.

This pope seems ok to me, even though I have a major problem with Catholicism. Not Catholics, but their church's beliefs. Mary worship, angel worship, a man (rather than Jesus) as the head of the church, salvation through works and not by faith alone, etc. It seems to me that Catholicism is a blending of ancient Roman paganism with Christianity. As far as my own religion - I try and study God's word diligently and live my life in a way that glorifies God.

Which leads me to a problem that I struggle with: do I throw the baby out with the bath water and disregard everything the pope or the catholic church says, or can I agree with some things while vehemently disagreeing with many of the tenants of the religion?

Anyways, thanks for your post and I apologize for my rambling...

Yes. And many monarchs and world leaders. You know Tony Blair has a butt load.

Also did you catch the Euphemism by the Pope for Death:

"Despite the fact that wars “lose lives, health, education,” they are being waged to defend money and make even more profit, the Pope said."

Lives fell out of a pocket of safe keeping, a billfold or a purse perhaps AND THEN GOT LOST.

Defense Companies 'Lose Lives', is that correct?

--

But remember there is the

- Power behind the King
- Power behind the US Presidents
- Power that was behind the English King that is now behind the Prime Minister and the House of Lords
- and the Power behind the King of England that is now behind the US President

Looking at the Logic here. English Colony, Revolutionary War, then War again, then forever Friends with the English and the English Bankers and the Power English Power Brokers too...

Then Bingo, USA goes from an Expeditionary Naval Force in 1850s to powerful English Ally in WWI and Superpower English Savior in WWII.

Boom, Wilson, CFR, FDR form UN in 1944 which Russia, China, UK & USA agree to with a Trust Set up to Divide Korea between East & West, then have to Justify a War which was decided at the Yalta Conference, Korea is to be Split.

Now tell me that doesn't sound like a British Plan.

I like this Pope. He's very open minded and refuses luxury. He's open to gay and lesbians taking part in The Church.Catholics need to be concerned about a lot more important issues he said. The latest news is his campaign is to recognize Palestine as an Official State. In my opinion,he's pure anti-fascist.
