I think that important people read zerohedge/WB7. Specifically CNN had a segment about the sale of this piece in the afternoon. The Manhattan art dealer was tasked to explain the valuation. Old dude (takes one to know one) breaks down and says (para) "that there is no way individual fortunes are being spend on this work, even those with a billion dollars, nobody is going to spend 18% of their wealth on a painting. It is about the money they are printing."

Time for me to break the bank and order the print of William's periodic table for ~$45 US. Thanks as always sir.

Artists have responded to the tastes of the wealthy by creating works that show contempt for traditional western norms of beauty to the point that modern art must offend our natural aesthetic tastes or it will not sell to our elites.

Thus art has been transformed from a medium for unifying a civilization into a medium for ridiculing that civilization and tearing it down.

It seethes with contempt for the common man and our heritage from the past.

The same artist, produced a similar figure, that was called 'Chariot' and was a stick woman on top of two wheels. Very similar looking and sold in excess of $100 million dollars! If I was driving by and saw one of these on the side of the road, I wouldn't pick up either one, off the curb, they are that ugly.

Those who have engaged in the generational 'transfer' of wealth have realized that they have stolen so much, the cash is everywhere. It needs to be parked in stuff that other kleptocrats want always. Apartments in the most expensivfe cities; farms in the bost benign but farway places; art; stamps; classic / unique cars etc.... I wonder why gold isn't on that list?
