Guest Post: Unprecedented 'Mass Die Offs' As Pacific Ocean "Turning Into a Desert" Off California Coast

“Ocean’s dying, plankton’s dying… it’s people. Soylent Green is made out of people. They’re making our food out of people. Next thing they’ll be breeding us like cattle for food. You’ve gotta tell them. You’ve gotta tell them!”

It was the dying cry of Charlton Heston in the creepy 1973 film Soylent Green… and it could resemble our desperate near future.

The ocean is dying, by all accounts – and if so, the food supply along with it. The causes are numerous, and overlapping. And massive numbers of wild animal populations are dying as a result of it.

Natural causes in the environment are partly to blame; so too are the corporations of man; the effects of Fukushima, unleashing untold levels of radiation into the ocean and onto Pacific shores; the cumulative effect of modern chemicals and agricultural waste tainting the water and disrupting reproduction.

A startling new report says in no uncertain terms that the Pacific Ocean off the California coast is turning into a desert. Once full of life, it is now becoming barren, and marine mammals, seabirds and fish are starving as a result. According to Ocean Health:

The waters of the Pacific off the coast of California are a clear, shimmering blue today, so transparent it’s possible to see the sandy bottom below […] clear water is a sign that the ocean is turning into a desert, and the chain reaction that causes that bitter clarity is perhaps most obvious on the beaches of the Golden State, where thousands of emaciated sea lion pups are stranded.

[…]

Over the last three years, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has noticed a growing number of strandings on the beaches of California and up into the Pacific north-west. In 2013, 1,171 sea lions were stranded, and 2,700 have already stranded in 2015 – a sign that something is seriously wrong, as pups don’t normally wind up on their own until later in the spring and early summer.

“[An unusually large number of sea lions stranding in 2013 was a red flag] there was a food availability problem even before the ocean got warm.” Johnson: This has never happened before… It’s incredible. It’s so unusual, and there’s no really good explanation for it. There’s also a good chance that the problem will continue, said a NOAA research scientist in climatology, Nate Mantua.

Experts blame a lack of food due to unusually warm ocean waters. NOAA declared an El Nino, the weather pattern that warms the Pacific, a few weeks ago. The water is three and a half to six degrees warmer than the average, according to Mantua, because of a lack of north wind on the West Coast. Ordinarily, the north wind drives the current, creating upwelling that brings forth the nutrients that feed the sardines, anchovies and other fish that adult sea lions feed on.

Fox News added:

The warm water is likely pushing prime sea lion foods — market squid, sardines and anchovies — further north, forcing the mothers to abandon their pups for up to eight days at a time in search of sustenance.

The pups, scientists believe, are weaning themselves early out of desperation and setting out on their own despite being underweight and ill-prepared to hunt.

[…]

“These animals are coming in really desperate. They’re at the end of life. They’re in a crisis … and not all animals are going to make it,” said Keith A. Matassa, executive director at the Pacific Marine Mammal Center, which is currently rehabilitating 115 sea lion pups.

The same is true of seabirds on the Washington State coast:

In the storm debris littering a Washington State shoreline, Bonnie Wood saw something grisly: the mangled bodies of dozens of scraggly young seabirds. Walking half a mile along the beach at Twin Harbors State Park on Wednesday, Wood spotted more than 130 carcasses of juvenile Cassin’s auklets—the blue-footed, palm-size victims of what is becoming one of the largest mass die-offs of seabirds ever recorded. “It was so distressing,” recalled Wood, a volunteer who patrols Pacific Northwest beaches looking for dead or stranded birds. “They were just everywhere. Every ten yards we’d find another ten bodies of these sweet little things.”

“This is just massive, massive, unprecedented,” said Julia Parrish, a University of Washington seabird ecologist who oversees the Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST), a program that has tracked West Coast seabird deaths for almost 20 years. “We may be talking about 50,000 to 100,000 deaths. So far.” (source)

100,000 doesn’t necessarily sound large, statistically speaking, but precedent in the history of recorded animal deaths suggests that it is, in fact massive. Even National Geographic is noting that these die off events are “unprecedented.” Warmer water is indicated for much of the starvation faced by many of the dead animals.

Last year, scientists sounded the alarm over the death of millions of star fish, blamed on warmer waters and ‘mystery virus':

Starfish are dying by the millions up and down the West Coast, leading scientists to warn of the possibility of localized extinction of some species. As the disease spreads, researchers may be zeroing in on a link between warming waters and the rising starfish body count. (source)

[…]

The epidemic, which threatens to reshape the coastal food web and change the makeup of tide pools for years to come, appears to be driven by a previously unidentified virus, a team of more than a dozen researchers from Cornell University, UC Santa Cruz, the Monterey Bay Aquarium and other institutions reported Monday. (source)

Changing temperatures in the Pacific Ocean, driven by the natural cycle of gyres over decades, shifts wildlife populations, decimating the populations of species throughout the food chain, proving how fragile the balance of life in the ocean really is.

Recently, the collapse of the sardine population has created a crisis for fisheries and marine wildlife alike on the West Coast:

Commercial fishing for sardines off of Canada’s West Coast is worth an estimated $32 million – but now they are suddenly gone. Back in October, fisherman reported that they came back empty-handed without a single fish after 12 hours of trolling and some $1000 spent on fuel.

Sandy Mazza, for the Daily Breeze, reported a similar phenomenon in central California: “[T]he fickle sardines have been so abundant for so many years – sometimes holding court as the most plentiful fish in coastal waters – that it was a shock when he couldn’t find one of the shiny silver-blue coastal fish all summer, even though this isn’t the first time they’ve vanished.” [emphasis added]

[…]

“Is it El Nino? Pacific Decadal Oscillation? [La] Nina? Long-term climate change? More marine mammals eating sardines? Did they all go to Mexico or farther offshore? We don’t know. We’re pretty sure the overall population has declined. We manage them pretty conservatively because we don’t want to end up with another Cannery Row so, as the population declines, we curb fishing.” said National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) official Kerry Griffin. (source)

According to a report in the Daily Mail, the worst events have wiped out 90% of animal populations, falling short of extinction, but creating a rupture in food chains and ecosystems.

And environmental factors are known to be a factor, with pollution from chemicals dumped by factories clearly tied to at least 20% of the mass die off events of wildlife populations that have been investigated, and many die offs implicated by a number of overlapping factors. The Daily Mail reported:

Mass die-offs of certain animals has increased in frequency every year for seven decades, according to a new study.

Researchers found that such events, which can kill more than 90 per cent of a population, are increasing among birds, fish and marine invertebrates.

The reasons for the die-offs are diverse, with effects tied to humans such as environmental contamination accounting for about a fifth of them.

Farm runoff from Big Agra introduces high levels of fertilizers and pesticides which create oxygen-starved dead zones which fish and aquatic live is killed off. Also preset in agriculture waste are gender bending chemicals like those found in Atrazine, used in staple crop production, and antibiotics and hormones, used in livestock production, which creates hazardous runoff for fish populations:

Livestock excrete natural hormones – estrogens and testosterones – as well as synthetic ones used to bolster their growth. Depending on concentrations and fish sensitivity, these hormones and hormone mimics might impair wild fish reproduction or skew their sex ratios. (source)

Pharmaceutical contaminants are also to blame for changing the sex of fish and disrupting population numbers, while a study found that the chemicals in Prozac changed the behavior of marine life, and made shrimp many times more likely to “commit suicide” and swim towards the light where they became easy prey.

Fish farms also introduce a large volume of antibiotic and chemical pollution into oceans and waterways:

The close quarters where farmed fish are raised (combined with their unnatural diets) means disease occurs often and can spread quickly. On fish farms, which are basically “CAFOs of the sea,” antibiotics are dispersed into the water, and sometimes injected directly into the fish.

Unfortunately, farmed fish are often raised in pens in the ocean, which means not only that pathogens can spread like wildfire and contaminate any wild fish swimming past – but the antibiotics can also spread to wild fish (via aquaculture and wastewater runoff) – and that’s exactly what recent research revealed. (source)

Mass die offs of fish on the Brazilian coastline have linked to pollution from the dumping of raw sewage and garbage.

In the last few days it was reported that a massive die off of bottlenose dolphins in the Gulf of Mexico was connected by researchers to BP’s Deep Water Horizon oil spill. Evidence was found in a third of the cases of lesions in the adrenal gland, an otherwise rare condition linked with petroleum exposure. More than a fifth of the dolphins also suffered bacterial pneumonia, causing deadly lung infection that is likewise rarely seen in dolphin populations.

Fukushima? Impossible - that was a one-banana dose max. Radioisotopes of cesium, strontium, cadmium, lead, polonium, zirconium, iron, nickel, cobalt, tellurium and silver are all-natural - a gift from God. They're good for humans and sea creatures for building up our resistance to harmful radiation. Black mold just LOVES this stuff! Does your tapwater taste or smell a little mildewey lately? Liar! The glyphosate would kill it.

The cause is obviously psychological - the poor sea creatures are worrying themselves to death over this radiation nonsense.

This  is devastatingly shocking. We're going to have a mass die off of the human population if this shit keeps up. Drought, dead sea life, 911, Bank fraud, war, Dollar hegemony, ISIS, Brics Bank, Continental Bankruptcy, climate change, Queers and steers among us and more to come....maybe....

The 'causes' are us.

http://www.livescience.com/50440-ocean-acidification-killer-permian-exti...

Nearly every form of ocean life disappeared during this "Great Dying" at the end of the Permian period, when more than 90 percent of all marine species vanished, from the scorpionlike predators called eurypterids to various types of trilobites, some with alienlike stalked eyes.

By analyzing boron embedded in limestone from the Permian and Triassic periods, researchers discovered an abrupt shift in ocean pH levels. The change in acidity corresponds to a drop in surface ocean pH levels of 0.6 to 0.7 pH units that lasted about 10,000 years.

Most scientists blame a massive volcanic eruption in Siberia for thePermian mass extinction.

In comparison, modern ocean pH levels have fallen by 0.1 pH units since the Industrial Revolution, a 30 percent increase in acidity.

The gap between the when each isotope records jumps — first carbon, then boron — could mean that Earth's oceans slowly absorbed the first wave of excess greenhouse gas from the eruptions, Clarkson said. Then, another burst of activity about 10,000 years before the end of the Permian Period triggered a massive die-off due to ocean acidification.

3 things:

1) VLF everything by the US Navy (VLF sonars destroy the honing/tracking system of the ocean by overwhelming it with VLF noise)

2) Ocean Acidification (myriad causes)

3) Overfishing/bottom-fishing

But these effects are local and will probably stay that way for a bit. AS interconnected as it is, the Ocean can quarantine a part of itself as needed.

But, all that said, out of curiousity, clear ocan waters are bad? By that logic, all the world's most exotic beach locales are dead, deserted oceans? Because you can see the sandy bottom for sure.

Which is it?

Anyways, all in it together, sink or swim...a multi-generational shift is clearly upon us...

Bull fucking shit.  When ever one of these articles mentions Fuku, that is an immediate tell that it is full of political lies.

Yes, the ocean is warming and acidifying and it breaks my heart that we can be so stupid as a species.  But much of that is natural.  And the infinitesimal amounts of radiation is just too silly to mention.

We need to hurry up and get the population down to that sustainable 500 million.  I did my part -- no kids.  We need to stop feeding Haiti, Africa, Asia and S. America.  If you do, they just breed and create even more starving kids.  Stop the cycle of breeding and mass starvation once and for all.

They left out the hole in the high level ozone layer over the Arctic region.  Ozone absorbs ultra-violate light (radiation).  Ultraviolate light kills off plankton...the base of the oceanic food chain.  (also causes skin cancers which are on the rise) Sardines eat smaller creatures that feed on plankton.  No plankton, no sardines. no sardines, no birds or sea lions that feed on sardines.

One might suspect that chemtrails are an attempt to combat increased untraviolet radiation.

Wikipedia: "On March 15, 2011, a record ozone layer loss was observed, with about half of the ozone present over the Arctic having been destroyed"

"On October 2, 2011, a study was published in the journal Nature, which said that between December 2010 and March 2011 up to 80% of the ozone in the atmosphere at about 20 kilometres (12 mi) above the surface was destroyed. The level of ozone depletion was severe enough that scientists said it could be compared to the ozone hole that forms over Antarctica every winter. According to the study, "for the first time, sufficient loss occurred to reasonably be described as an Arctic ozone hole."

@indygo55

bingo...I also was going to bring up lack of HAARP being mentioned in this and was going to post a similar link:  http://www.geoengineeringwatch.org/category/geoengineering/haarp-2/

The government lied that they were going to quit using "HAARP" a couple years ago.  All they did was change the name of what they were using from HAARP to something a little more direct:  Ionospheric Heaters

But just because they call it an ionospheric heater does not mean that using it combined w/ the chemtrail shit they spray does not effect the temperatures of the oceans.  They use this shit to geoengineer the weather patterns.

The use of HAARP and chemtrails are what is causing the massive 2000 year drought in the southwest...mainly California and this would also cause a major transformation in the Pacific Ocean as well.

I'm sure some naturally occuring weather patterns and ocean currents play a certain part, but the interference of this man-made weather weapon along with massive amounts of non-stop radiation being dumped into the Pacific from Fukushima are obviously exponentially magnifying any smaller natural events to this point of total anihilation of the food chain and the proper, natural weather patterns.

FWIW, California green lit aerial spraying to combat the LBAM, light brown apple moth, a non-invasive, non-indigenous species.  Curiously this same moth is in Australia where they found it is completely neutral in regareds to affecting or having any impact on crops.

Having recently left the East Bay which was home for the last five years I can attest to witnessing on two separate occasions a medium size unmarked white jet performing repitive figure eights over the East Bay at an altitude of approx. 4,000 feet.  This aircrart created a giant figure 8 in the sky leaving in its wake a giant wall or descending sheet of white powdery material.  Just like watching verga in the SW, a several hundred foot wall of material slowly desceding over the EB.  I am the first to recognize that often the criss cross hatch pattern of aircraft is simply natural occuring contrail, and to this day never in my life have I seen an aircrapt fly 8 or 9 passes in the same figure 8 pattern over a densely populated area.

Unlike most Bay Area denizens I enjoy giving my 13 year old auto as much love as possible and this included a weekly washing and waxing.  With a freshly hand rubbed carnuba polished surface, literally within less than 12 hours the surface covered with a fine particulate matter.  Sure some of this was simply pollen in the air or other produced micro particulates from air, auto, industry exhaust.  And yet so much material and much of it a fine white gritty powder that I found hard to explain.

On a persoal note I have never suffered or experienced the "hum, but starting about two years ago suddenly almost every night the incessant droning of a generator like sound/vibration ?  At first thought it was someone nearby doing an illegal grow but wandering the streets at 3 ort 4 in the am, nothing.  Like two miniature cowbells clanging next to the ears.  The shit was maddening and relocating 1,000 plus miles East, it all just went away.

IMHO there is something disturbingly wrong with the Bay Area, by all accounts it appears well beyond its carrying capicity and during times of serious contemplation, the over whelming feeling was dread.

All this data but not a PEEP about HAARP and the GEO Engineering the US Government is performing to "drought out" the Pacific West.

Hmm let's look at two possibilities.

1. In the past 80 years borderline exponential increase in atmospheric CO2 [FACT] has lowered ocean PH [FACT] leading to widespread aquatic species die off [FACT]

2. Sometime in the past a group of mysterious elite individuals in concert with upper echelons of government (and controlling every university science department on earth + all major western media) have put together a team of highly sophisticated multidisciplinary, multi ethnic, group of professionals to develop mysteriously complex technology to slowly disrupt the food chain through geo engineering causing mass extinction of aquatic life in order to kill majority of human population to get global pop down to manageable level to enslave population to unknown ends.

It's not explicitly an IQ test, but choose wisely..

It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. - Doyle

It doesn't make it a fact, but it is a fact over a reasonably considered time period. Recap:

borderline exponential increase in atmospheric CO2 [FACT]

If your big claim is that before humans existed on Earth CO2 levels were much higher - yes that it is true, totally irrelevant, but true.

As for your other mindless claim:

http://origin.arstechnica.com/journals/science.media/ordovician_sst.jpg

There are species which do fine in high CO2 envrios so safe to say jellyfish will be populous, but many other species do not do so well.

See if you can spot how humans will likely fare based on the above and then consider the takeaway >> RATE OF CHANGE <<

Hmmm, where is most of the CO2 on the planet? In/under the ocean. Which you (or others) have already stated is rising in temperature. Degassing is a natural consequence of rising temperature.

I'm not saying that is the source - I certainly don't know. Neither does anyone else. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

There are plenty of explanations of the die-off that have nothing to do with manmade CO2 emissions. They clearly do relate to human activity (some rather obviously, such as Rhinos, Passenger Pigeons, etc). My pet concern is the planet's colour change from all our city building and farmland. Your task is to prove that manmade CO2 emission is more significant than the colour change - and also more significant than the change in the most significant greenhouse gas in the atmosphere - H2O. Besta luck with those!

You see? It is not explicitly an IQ test. And if the choice is a planned suicidal extinction of the human race then the choice has been anything but wise by the elitists. In fact you'd have to be psychotic to believe that narcissistic psychopaths would intentionally act toward their own self destruction. You ought learn about hedonistic narcissism.

Yes they'd kill you well before even contemplating killing themselves. But those same elitists know the origins of the Oxygen in the air which we breathe. They are not as ignorant as you.

The only certainty is that we have insufficient data, thanks to the lying, self-censoring media.  Not just here but everywhere.  As the Fukushima Daiichi reactors were exploding, melting down and releasing the largest continuous stream of radiation in recorded history, power company TEPCO was giving the all-clear sign, nothing to worry about.  We have a President with a family history that goes back to when he was 10 years old, everything before is suspect.  Connecticut Governor Malloy, now running for President, approved the cover-up of the Sandy Hook murders and his reward was to let him run for President.  Quick, find out if there was a 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School yearbook.  After 9/11, where the WTC building metal support beams cut by RDX charges were shipped off to China in sealed China Shipping trucks for recycling, Congress passed a law saying that you cannot demolish a crime scene and remove evidence before the investigation is over.  Yet within months of the shooting, Connecticut authorities not only demolished the Sandy Hook school building but the Lanza family home.  All reports of the closed school being contaminated with asbestos also now are MIA.  Whatever is happening in the Pacific, you can besure that if it is deadly to the West Coast, the public officials there have orders to cover it up.

I down voted this. There is no comparing naturally occurring radiation like that in bananas, which our bodies can process. There are natural forms of Cesium too and we assimilate those fine. There are limits on manmad radiation in food imposed after Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  So if bananas have radiation the same as Fukushima radiation then why have modern humans been consuming banana radiation prior to WW II without government limits? The reason is that natural cesium and potassium wont harm humans. Manmade Fukushima radiation does.So unless the people up voting live inside the Fukushima exclusion zone, they are full of shit.

If California Sea Lions are starving, maybe it's because THERE ARE TOO MAY OF THEM AND THEY'RE EATING ALL THE DAMNED SALMON!!!

http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/california-sea-lions-are-starving-rescue-need-help-180954833/?no-ist

"California sea lions are probably more numerous now than they’ve been at any time in the past 13,000 years, according to Bob DeLong, a pinniped biologist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Humans have been hunting sea lions since the Bering land bridge allowed the first North Americans to access the continent during the last ice age. European Americans accelerated the species’ mortality with firearms, collecting sea lion pelts and turning their meat into pet food. By the early 20th century, there may have been just several thousand of the animals left."

"But thanks to strict protections for marine mammals, the population of California sea lions has since exploded to 300,000 or more. There are now so many of the grizzly-sized carnivores along the West Coast that they’re pushing up the Sacramento River into the farmlands of the Central Valley. In places, they may be threatening the success of ailing salmon and steelhead runs, prompting officials to selectively shoot the animals."

"As of 2008, the International Union for Conservation of Nature listed the California sea lion as a species of least concern, noting that the 'population is abundant and probably reaching carrying capacity in most of its wide geographic distribution.'"

"And now, with a steep decline in sardine abundance, that plethora of sea lions can’t find enough to eat."

I have seen it first hand. The chase boats for 30 miles cause they can see and hear the people and just dick around and everyonce in a while steal a slow fish off a line.

In the US. No see equals cftc commissioner.

"...adult California sea lions eat about 5% to 8% of their body weight per day (6.8-18.2 kg or 15-40 lb.)."

That means 300,000 Sea Lions would be eating between 2,250 and 6,000 TONS of fish EVERY DAY!

That's 5-Ounces per day for EVERY SINGLE HUMAN IN CALIFORNIA.

That means the Calfornia Sea Lions eat more seafood than the entire population of California...

I've heard that before, Deathrips - about blind sea lions, actually. If seals are going blind, too, then... gosh, something for the pointy-heads to investigate, no? Yet it seems like it's all the marine biologists can do to get off their ass and figure out why everything else is dying off. I hold out little hope for them to grab a few hundred seals and sea lions and figure out if they're blind and what's making them blind. But then who would fund THAT grant - the U.S. government?? [derisive snort]

I'll toss a few more rocks out at the 'scientific community'. The direct threat to most larger sea creatures directly from radiation in the water is small. The real threat is bio-amplification throughout the food chain. Seems like a good place to go is right off the Japanese coast and start grabbing phytoplankton and zooplankton and see what those little bastards are sucking up. Then check the things that eat them: krill. Shouldn't be too hard to find any - in fact the coast off of Fukushima was one of the richest Pacific Krill fishing areas in the entire Pacific the last couple of decades.

Are the krill accumulating anything? Is is getting better or worse? Well, we don't know except the food chain has also crashed off of Fukushima, just like it's crashing off of the West Coast. Try to Google a study, article or even a conspiracy nutjob blog where ANYONE has done a serious radiation study of plankton and krill off of U.S. coasts, much less off of Fukushima. Nothing. Almost like they wouldn't think it matters. And no studies for the last few years means we have nothing to compare it with even if someone did a huge study today. There have been plenty of studies on raw seawater, but the amounts are barely detectable. I don't really give a crap because I don't drink much seawater.

About the only reports I did see is how there isn't even as much cesium as 'naturally-occurring Polonium-210' in fish. Well, there was always microscopic amounts of Polonium-210 from radon decay, but it's like 20,000 times more toxic than cyanide. The Po-210 alpha decay causes about a thousand times more damage to chromosomes than the beta decay of our old banana friend: Potassium-40. So if a fish had 1/10th the amount of Po-210 vs. P-40 (radiation-wise), the Polonium would still be causing 100 times more chromosome damage than a the decay of potassium. Gosh, they never mention that in banana-dose calculus.

No harm in a little 'natural' Polonium-210 in fish, right? I guess unless you're an ex-Russian spy in exile in London like Litvenenko. He got a massive 10 microgram dose, but you really only need 50 nanograms on average to kill you. And, yes, it kills entirely throught acute radiation poisoning - not chemical toxicity. Incidentally, as a liquid-borne alpha emitter, it would be impossible to measure its presence with a Geiger counter or even a sensitive gamma detector for that matter. Litvenenko's hospital had him there for weeks and tested him for radiation several times and found nothing - because they were using gamma detectors like they always did and they wouldn't detect polonium-210's lethal alpha, especially in bodily fluids. You need alpha spectrometers and a completely different way of preparing a sample.

So no big deal in fish because polonium is 'natural' right? Well, since they haven't bothered to measure it except in samples AFTER Fukushima, we really don't have much to compare it with. Common sense says that there is a crapload of highly-toxic polonium-210 in fish that probably wasn't there before Fukushima. Polonium-210 is part of the uranium decay chain. Uranium - I believe several hundred tons of uranium were either launched into the air or are being continually washed into the sea right now from Fukushima. But the fuel rods also had plenty of uranium decay products before they melted. How many 50 nanogram lethal doses of polonium were in the hundreds of tons of fuel rods that melted down? Maybe some scientist should ask themselves if we 1) suddenly have like 10x or 100x the amount of 'natural radon' in the atmosphere turning into polonium, or 2) the three uranium-lava cores of the reactors are somehow responsible for the increase.

I have no idea if polonium-210 is the biggest or even a major danger from Pacific seafood OR if it has anything to do with Fukushima. That's just one thing I can think of that is remarkable by it's (apparently) complete absence of study in the scientific community. It might be nothing. Maybe the whole West Coast thing CAN be explained by sea lion overpopulation and warmer water temperatures.

Call me a nutter but - personally - I'm trying to cut back on my imaginary polonium intake. A nanogram here and a nanogram there, and pretty soon you're bleeding out every orifice of your body. You know how funny people get about THAT nowadays.

I guess the real question is, what is the natural enemy of sea lions?  If man is the only one, and predation has stopped, then the food supply will be the regulator.  That can happen with any animal population.  Then you read they are rehabilitating pups.  Sounds like another left wing idea bound to fail.  Note that I have nothing against sea lions.  It's sad.  But that's how reality works.

HAARP.

People don't want to believe it, but it's the truth. There has never been a natural occurrence of persistent low pressure over the west coast like there has been.

The combination of this and the diversion of melt waters to protect the delta smelt have created this epic drought and ocean die off. They have been warming the ocean and destroying storms before they can form.

You tell people it is happening and they ask why anyone would do something like this. The answer? Futures contracts traded by Wall Street bankers.

Billions of dollars have been made pushing agricultural products to never before seen levels. Billions more will be made off selling water to drought starved areas.

You think the group of billionaires that controls the markets cares about the planet? They don't care about anything other than making more money. They will always have the power and wealth to live like kings. That is the goal, to live like Roman Emperors until they die.

The problem with decent people is that they don't believe in pure evil. They always think there is good somewhere deep down and that this good cannbe brought out in anyone. News flash, evil people exist and the only way to deal with them is to kill them before they kill you.

There has never been.....like there has been.

other than the fact that the sentence logic twists back upon itself, you must be millions of years old to know this for a fact.  What did happened to the Anasazi Indian?

"The problem with decent people is that they don't believe in pure evil."

It is sad how so many people can be so utterly gullible and always believe the very best in others even when evidence of evilness is there for all to see. Peoples' attitude towards the political elites is the perfect example.

If the problem were radioactive water, there would be plenty of evidence of it, like starfish dead of radiation poisoning.  There isn't.  The change in water termperature is more likely to be causing the die-off.  Some think we're heading into a period of global cooling similar to the little ice age of medieval times.  Surprisingly, before such a cold period begins you get a final spurt of warming, all caused by variation in solar output.

We are as mindless as yeast in a vat.

Eating everything at hand, reproducing to the limitations of our vat, then dying in the  pile of our own shit. Killing everything else in our glutinous suicide. Hopefully something will have a drink of us after we are gone, without just puking.

My only happy thought is that the planet will carry on after we are gone. Our little spurt of self indulgient, ultimately too ignorant very thin layer in the fossil record, will not completely sterilize the planet. It will carry on in spite of an intelligent race that did not properly utilize it's intelligence. Nature need not learn, just experience balance. We need to learn balance, or become just a fossil layer.

WoW I just want to face palm this fine morning. Mass die off is happening because NATURE is a bitch and the sea lion population has grown too large to sustain itself. Look for some simple answers guys and gals as this has nothing to do with global warming, acidification of the oceans, or radiation for that matter.

The predators that keep the sea lion population in check has and is being decimated by us!  Japan must have its shark fin soup after all.

Every coastline in the USA where the sea lion population has exploded has also seen an increase in the shark population hunting them.  The only real difference is we see a Great White or another top predator stalking seal close to shore and off we go to catch and kill them.  I dive and used to dive at Palos Verde before everything went private for those multi million dollar Mcmansions.  The first thing all of us divers did was check for the sea lion population in the area and if they were there we did not dive.  Simple concept and common sense.  Palos Verdes was a prime spot for abolone.  tough to get too and you had to do some real climbing to get to the prime locations.

California wants to make a big deal out of it and yet this is happening all over the USA on the East and West coasts.  Oh my God more sharks and we do not know why!  Gotta get out there and kill them quick before some stupid surfer or tourist with no sense heads out into sea lion infested waters and ends up getting bitten because they were not smart enough to know hmm maybe the sharks are following their primary food source for this time of year.

This article is crap to be honest.  More fucking fear mongering for the fans.

We spend our summers in Newport, Or.  It is in the middle of town, and on the rocks, and Marina's that we have seen a HUGE increase in Sea Lion Populations - - year in, year out.  The Sea Lions are so numerous that we have seen them occupying marina Ramps, Decks, and the Boat Slip moorages and so on.     There is AN INCREASE in Sea Lion populations - - and now we shall see, as we head there next week.    We shall see for ourselves.    Last Year's Salmon Catch was HUGE.   We  were buying Fresh Salmon Dock side for under $5 a pound, head on, gutted.

So while you are pointing out that nature is a bitch, you go on to ascribe the various items to the effect of man.

I watched a T.V. series (actually a internet channel) of a brief series called 'Z nation'.

It was low budget and some gratuitious gore scenes but kinda cool in a underground way.

At the end...the last sentence as missiles approached...."what is wrong with us?"

For those paid to come to such places as this to mis-inform or push an agenda..., how can you?

For those that work to deny the effects of the over population of man and his wasteful ways... how can you?

Is there hype and hysteria? Yes. But how can anyone deny that when you have a cause you get an effect? How can you?

Ya think 46 active volcano's around the ring of fire (most ever recorded at once) has something to do with the water temps heating up?

Naaaaaaaa

Why?  Because we can't blame volcano's popping off on mankind.
