First of all, what the fuck is this doing on ZH? None of us are dumb enough to believe the official story the government is telling us. US soldiers are Nazis that unquestioningly invade foreign countries and kill the people to be found there and take their resources.

Second of all, the price of freedom is $2.45/gallon at Wawa.

Don't fool yourselves. A naive sense of patriotism may get them to the recruiter's office, but the joo money is what keeps them in the uniform. That and the fear of being rapped in the ass at Leavenworth should they go AWOL. Speaking as a veteran.

Also... this farce of a society may be a lot of things, but free isn't one of them.

Ok I might be going out on a limb here but I don't see an American flag in the picture. Could it be possible this cartoon is about freedom and the price we must be willing to pay to get it? I think it is saying a lot of people made very large sacrifices to maintain freedom. Regardless of who it is you must fight against to maintain it.

Probably the biggest lie associated with that Late Unpleasantness is Mr. Lincoln's claim that it was a civil war. It wasn't. It was a secession war - which is the precise polar opposite of a civil war.

I was raised to believe my main purpose as a youth was to join the military. I bought into it totally. I felt an urgent need to protect American freedom from Soviet Communism in Russia and China. Our whole education was about our debt to America. Only later did I begin to understand what our military was doing and who it was doing it for. When Israel killed a mass of my fellow sailors, and our government black listed the wounded and killed, they became non - persons, because the Jews would look bad. Then I knew, America had a deep state, AND WE WERE NOT PART OF IT!  Then Vietnam became known for the complete lie it had been. That really finished off my loyalty to Washington's Deep State Zionists.

Yeah but John McCain, his admiral pa and the V-22 Osprey have killed more American soldiers and sailors than the Russians ever have.

In fact, when McCain's pa recalled F-4 fighter bombers to save the USS Liberty, he also told the US navy to sail slowly to the aid o fthe USS Liberty.   the first ship to arrive to try to help the wonded and dying American sailors were the Russians.

So you haven't seen the declassified Pentagon report which shows that the US and its allies have been supporting the creation of the Islamic State for years? That's why you get the downvote -- because you've somehow missed the fact  that the US government and the jihadists work in tandem. Israel has been supporting ISIS with airstrikes and medical aide too.

I fail to see how any of that is Mohammed's fault.

'Religion of Peace'?

As in 'Christianity', the immaculate religion that follows the example of the Love-thy-Neighbor guy JC, the 'Prince of Peace'?  Good one.

Sun, 05/24/2015 - 16:01 | 6127434 thatthingcanfly
thatthingcanfly's picture

No Shatner, the term "Religion of Peace" or "Religion of Peace and Tolerance" is an unmistakable reference to Islam - as you know damn good and well.

This phrase is used ubiquitously by Mohammedans and their useful idiots among the Western leftist elites to disguise Islam from what it truly is: a twisted satanic parody of Christianity that encourages war, rape, pillage, oppression, and mayhem. What the Mohammedans mean when they use the word "peace" is that it is their goal to assimilate all of mankind under Islam (a word that literally translates to "submission"), obliterating all other religions and governmental systems in the process. After that, there will be "peace."

The problem with Christians is that they don't always follow the example set by their religion's founder, the problem with Mohammedans is that they do.

Have you followed this example which Christ set for you by attacking your family with a sword yet?

"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.  For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household."

Didn't 1,000,000+ Iraqis die over the past decade? What about them?

I must have misunderstood the cartoon (pretty easy to do with the inanities produced by Michael Ramirez). I thought it portrayed yet another brown child being dragged off to an early grave by the US military, and the legless soldier represents the bravery of drone pilots who leave no footprints on the ground as they courageously operate their joysticks with utmost valor.

Because the idol of liberty requires human sacrifices:

I think the point which has some value is that soldiers are people who are used by the fucking asshats that are in charge and who never change.  They are lied to like everyone else.  Whether you do not like the idea of someone selling their time to do violence on behalf of such people is a valid point.  But there is a message worth hearing about the absolute hypocrisy and shittiness of the whole thing.

I feel bad for every guy who ever got drafted, but most likely that guy in the cartoon is supposed to be an enlistee because they need more cannon fodder.  That's why you'll see war movies on all weekend -- get the sheep all worked up and into the recruiting offices.

Stop enlisting -- that would put a crimp in their profits.  Of course if too many people stop enlisting they'll bring back the draft, because you can't stop the bankers and Corporations.

Which is why they got rid of the draft. The MIC discovered in trying to keep the war going for an extended period of time that too many young people, and their families & friends, started paying too much attention & asking too many damning questions. All those demonstrations in the streets and unhappy draftees made life too difficult for our masters.

@THX1178

Man such hatred and disrespect on this solemn day of remembrance!

What has the progressive bastardization of the past 15 years wrought? We are FREE to mouth off this vile puke the vast majority call comments! Thank You Tyler for this wonderful Memorial Day tribute to our brave men and women who serve with distinction. I want to also offer my thanks to the good lord for watching over our Republic and all the NOBLE men and women who are trying so desperately to preserve it.

No matter how bad things might seem today,(and under King Obama, and Queen Yellen) they are as bad as I have ever seen them in my brief 52 years. Obama lit the world on fire when he left Iraq to ISIS and then dicked around while the Middle East really went up in flames, but all the time our men and women in uniform have preformed with bravery and distinction! If some of our 4 and 5 star brass had some balls and gone into the socialist in chief's office and laid down the gauntlet with their stars on his desk with the threat of resigning, maybe we would be celebrating a truly worthy, and much different outcome over there!

It is a sad day we are about to embark on as a country, this Memorial Day. Millions will party, grill burgers and bitch about non existent problems they really don't suffer from. While our soldier's hunker down and those home continue with their healing and the families of the dead mourn their loss! We owe them so much more than they will ever know. It was their ultimate sacrifice that allowed so many THX's to spew such dishonor for their sacrifice. Thank a vet at the local store when you see them offer the POPPY'S this weekend, drop a buck or three in the cup and then extend your hand in gratitude. They are our brothers, our sisters. Our Mom's and our Dad's, they are US!

May the good Lord bless and watch over this fragile little experiment in freedom / man's self rule we call America!

I suggest you enlist or reinlist or have one of your children or grandchildren.

Try for the service that uses the V-22 Osprey.  It has killed more American soliders that the Russians have.   Special Forces is good too.  The See Eye Aye's Seal Team 6 is a great patsy unit who kill Bin landen (sic) even though he had been dead for years.  As pay back for this fake op - Obola will put you on a Chinook and give the "enemy" your flight path and a few manpads to make sure to take you out.

If you or your kid retire from Spec Ops - you can get another black op gig for Maersk out of Virginia on a ship.  Then you will get murdered and they will claim you were a heroin addict just OD-eing.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2564145/Two-ex-Navy-SEALS-protec...

Two American security workers have been found dead after an apparent heroin overdose in the same cabin on the Maersk Alabama, the ship made famous by the Tom Hanks movie Captain Phillips in 2013.

The Price of Freedom?

Hmmm,.. let me see:

39.6% Federal Income Tax

12.4% FICA Tax (up to $118,500)

2.9% MediCare Tax

10.3% State Income Tax

0.9% State Disability Insurance Tax

1.5% [of assessed value] Real Property Tax

8.5% Sales Tax

$150/Year [per Vehicle] Registration Tax

63.8 Cents/Gal. Gasoline Tax

If I stop paying these; I will lose my 'Freedom'...

Oooops! I almost forgot; If I want to remain "Free" I have to tolerate the following:

Being Groped by TSA anytime I need to board an aircraft

Submitting my children to mandatory vaccinations, made by companies which have immunity from products liability suits.

Mandatory government schooling [indoctrination] of my children

Waiting in line for 4 hours and paying $155 to obtain a passport to grant me the privilege of returning to the USA should I leave it at any time.

Having my phone conversations recorded by NSA

Etc...

And, at the semi-finals, when it looks like he's about to be eliminated, he proposes to his GF, everyone gets the Kleenex out, and the votes come in to propel him to the Finals.  Who got eliminated in his place?  Why, who else but the blonde Russian-born US Olympic gold medalist Nastia Liukin, who had perfect scores and the highest scores the entire season!

How badly do you want to be free? As in, what is the price of freedom?

Don't want to be income taxed? Find a way to make less than ther taxable amount, or get paid in cash.

FICA? Don't make enough. If ou can find a way to limit your reportable income to 12K or less, you'll do just fine. Oh, work for yourself, not for a paycheck. You aren't free if you work for someone else, you're just someone's bitch.

Ditto State income tax, obamacare, other incomce derived state taxes.

Property tax? Don't own real property. Are gypsies free? Does a bear shit in the woods?

Sales tax... well, you have to buy something, but you can minimize what you buy, for money. Cash makes lots of purchases "tax free".

Vehicle registration is also hard to avoid in our culture, but again, you can walk, or ride public trasportation, or ride a horse, or a bicycle. None of these are taxed, per se.

Same goes for gasoline, tobacco, ammo, liquor (make your own), and unfortunately soon, marijuanna, but do you really need to be enslaved by all these vices (not ammo of course)?

As an ex-pilot, flying in airplanes is over-rated. Just don't do it. Same for owning a cell-phone. Until we are chipped, you have to consent to be tracked.

No-one makes you send your kids to public school. You're just not making the sacrifices needed to educate them yourself.

Slavery is a lifestyle, and so is freedom. If you want a "steady job", a house, a car, a cell-phone, and the luxury of dropping your kids off to be educated by "professionals", then you have to pay a price for these conveniences. It's your choice.

The soldier has no legs below the knees, which can be interpreted literally as a reminder that we should remember and provide support to the many soldiers who have lost limbs, and in too many cases their lives, or as a metaphor for the fact that we are cutting our military off at the knees with ridiculous rules of engagement that needlessly put their lives at risk in the name of political correctness. Flame away.

Else only whispered, if in dissent or anger.

Otherwise it's a career-ending event, cause the 98% have been pussified. A well-armed and sometimes boisterous group, but pussifield nonetheless.  If they were truly brave and true Patriots, they'd be brave enough to organize and rise up against the Rulers, instead of bombing and shooting brown people on another continent.

It is wrong to judge people who were using the morality of another time, by using today's morality. We will be judged at some latter time too, and it will not be fair to us. Then there is the Jews, who are using the morality of 4,000 years ago today in Isriel.

@AmCock, "morality of another time".  LOL...  Hey buddy, genocide, slavery have always been viewed as wrong morally - today, yesterday, and the centuries before.

Nice try cleaning it all up!  "morality of another time".  I gotta remember that one.  Cute.

1945, was that "of another time"?  Hmm... I think I may have been living then... maybe, maybe not...?  I don't recall civilian atomic annihilation being decent, wholesome, and upstanding then.  Perhaps my memory is failing me...

If one understands the natural rights of the individual human being then it is obvious that morality does not differ from time to time or from place to place regardless of the moral or immoral acts committed by individuals at various times in various places.

Exactly.  We've all been taught to believe that there was some great "morality of another time" in operation during the years of American slavery that excuses the inconvenient truth that our POS Presidents were themselves slave "owners."  The myth insists that we must overlook the the psychopaths who supposedly couldn't distinguish a human being from an animal due to their skin color because they were really good men who were just living in a different world from ours.

It's complete bullshit.  The rest of the developed world harbored no such confusion.  Slavery was outlawed and condemned universally in European society at that time.

The "morality of another time" in operation at THAT time was that American psychopaths were still claiming that black people were animals . . . and the wondrously idealistic American society accommodated them due to their power and position.

It was a sick time for America.

Looking around at our role in the world today, you can see we haven't fundamentally changed.

But then, you can't learn your necessary  moral lessons if you never fully acknowledge the malignant truth of your mistakes.

Or put another way:

Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

Man I really fat-fingered "Constitution" in my earlier post. Ugh.

What are the Constitutional requirements for a declaration of war? Start with the fact that it must be declared by Congress - not by the leader of the executive branch. This insulates the Republic from war resulting from the reckless proclivities of one man. Had this responsibility been jealously guarded by the members of the legislative branch, none of the wars of the past 70 years would have been fought (by the US anyway).

Beyond that, one has to read Augustine, whose treatises on just war theory ought to be mandatory reading at Annapolis, West Point, and Colorado Springs - but aren't. The founding generation didn't think to put much more on this into the Constitution because, to them, this was common knowledge; and needn't be included.
