I can appreciate how it was easier to convince men to take up arms and fight a foreigner long ago.  It was easier to fool men in the past.

Today, what could possess a man to risk his life so that he can escape his wife, his family and friends to live in close quarters with a bunch of other stinking men ---- all to kill other men ---- for money??

It just seems so weird.

Speaking as a married man, I can understand why some men will do anything to get away.  Why do you think the Vikings went a viking or the gullible catholics crusading or Chinese communists on the long march?  Hint:  They were almost all married and just couldn't take another minute.

The saying "freedom isn't free" is cruel and ironic meme that is used in order to covince people to keep saluting and following illegal orders. To the US servicemen, STOP OBEYING ILLEGAL ORDERS. Of course freedom is free. Jesus. Think about it. Do you fight on the other side of the world because Afghanis or Iraqis or fucking ANYBODY is an actual threat to this country? You understand that ISIS/Afghanis/Iraquis have NO WAY TO GET HERE to attack?

The real threat to this country is obviously Israel, open your goddamned eyes and do some reading.

STOP OBEYING ILLEGAL ORDERS.

STOP KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE BECAUSE ISRAEL SAYS SO.

My parents were liberated by the Canadians in WW2.

I see the names on the memorial.  For a small town in the middle of nowhere the Canadians sacrificed many sons.

In those days the Allies were repelling invaders.

Now allies are the invaders.

I would not doubt those Canadian dead are turning over in their graves.

My parents had to fight their war and they won it.

I greatly appreciate the sacrifices they made both on the field of battle and back on the homefront so that I could have a nicer life than the one they had. They were wonderful, honorable, decent people who did what they thought was right with the information they had available to them at the time. All-in-all, I think they did a pretty damn good job.

Now it's our turn to carry the flag and listening to you cowardly, preening, swollen, spoiled little boys prancing around talking shit about the castle your parents made for you to live in makes me want to vomit.

You don't like the castle or the people running it, then do something about it.

Not happening, is it, you miserable money-grubbing trustafarians. You need to be in front of your computer on Tuesday morning trying to ace out a few nickels in FX from the evil system you complain so much about. You're far too busy and far too important to stand up and fight for your country. The best people don't get their hands dirty like that, do they?

Go ahead and flush it down the toilet. Cheer for the people who made it sink. Cheer for yourselves, because YOU are the ones who are most responsbile. YOU are the ones who see the danger and do nothing to raise the alarm or change the course. YOU are the ones laughing at those who know less but are nevertheless giving it the old college try.

In the end, if you do indeed get your wish for chaos and destruction of the institutions which keep you safe and well-fed, you will not be laughing at all.

May God ever bless and protect the United States of America.

So basically:

Either shut up, or fight for the corrupt evil institutions (which you should inherently love and revere because reasons) because you might be in a position of relative safety and comfort now and it doesn't matter that it is utterly unsustainable and will eventually collapse, leaving you fucked and far from home.

This, my friends, is what nationalist propaganda does to people's minds.

It does wonderfully clarify the dividing line between the wannabe elect and the common man, does it not?

I will not desert the flag of my fathers in this time of greatest emergency. The fact that the government is in the hands of people such as yourself merely makes the road longer and harder, but it does not deter me from wanting to justify the faith my noble and honored ancestors have (however reluctantly) reposed in me, their dumbass posterity.

I will not spit in their faces and shout that they were idiots and should never have been allowed to procreate, as so many on this subject seem to be saying about their own antecedants.

General Washington saw that three great dangers would befall the Great Republic. The time of the third one is now upon us.

"The whole world united shall not prevail against her."

America will triumph. The evil european philosophy which you and the current "thought-leaders" in government, media, and popular culture have shackled around our necks will be overthrown. We will be free once again.

I hate to see you getting junked so heavily, but you may be living in the past. I admire you for honoring your ancestors and appreciate your respect for tradition. You mention George Washington's thoughts. Have you considered that this not the same country that Washington and your noble ancestors fought for? The same commenters that you railed against may be just as patriotic as you are. Their bitter and cynical comments may be a result of their disaffection with what this country has become.

I also take exception to "The evil European philosophy." Substitute some more relevant adjective for "European", if you know what I mean, and I would have no problem with the statement.

Actually, I'm doing pretty good considering the odds and am greatly encouraged by those who have dared to offer their support.

With regards to General Washington, it is his vision and not mine. He says America will prevail. I personally take heart from this sentiment and try to share it with others who may not have heard the news as of yet.

But it is important to understand the disassociation between the current operations of the institutions of government and the immortal heartbeat of America. (Hey, I was born a Chevy guy and I'll die a Chevy guy)

Neither General Washington nor I say that the US government will prevail, only that America will do so. If the two fight united, oh happy day.

If America must fight against the whole world including those who should be helping us, it will not alter the outcome but merely delay the triumph.

to a buddhist:evil is the promoting of illusion ..the military(any con - modern finance) can only function as illusion..wave a flag brave men and women kill for the illusion of say USA freedom . S Butler "war is a racket" is only possible if those that fight cannot see and are blinded to truth. seek truth before emotion and propaganda-hard to do as truth is hard ..the nature of war has changed in that nation states seek wars that cannot be won are hard to define as to  what is victory..climate wars, drug wars, war on terror? like ants motivated by phenomes swarm to defend a hive our dna gives human this ant like trait. It is used against us.

"the matrix of life in the west is based on illusion and as a buddhist i see it as evil.i see the illusions that lead to the  police state and concentration of wealth in few hands, humanity can be much more."

That was inspiring. I get to slog through the unbearable tedium of military training to "be all that I can be" so enlighted creatures like the Insane Shitstain and Vicious Newjew can send me off to foreign lands to murder their civilians for Lord Rottenchild NWO plans. Sounds like a plan. And maybe after looking at what I got myself into and had become, a tool for bloodsucking liars, I would join the rising suicide squad  (cause thats the only way to take out the enemy I would see in the mirror). Until I see a real enemy approaching my door, fuck the military. As for the enemy who is already very much in our door, not working for them is a good start, not feeding them is also a useful contribution. I'm off the grid until the time to engage them becomes unavoidable, let the sheeple feed them until its mutton time and the resistance goes mainstream.

What your parents did should be considered a laudable act of charity.  But it was not defending their country.  If you are saying that, then you are a liar.

Charity is a choice.  Each person is free to help others, but there is no requirement.  If it is forced as in a draft, then it is tyranny.

The US military today doesn't even secure our borders.  Let's not fool ourselves.

ah the cult of the noble soldier. what a splendid myth. the record of the american fighting man largely consists of massacring stone age indians during the 19th century and making up in numbers what they lack in skill in WWI and WWII.

and of course we get to the interesting part. in korea, they were stomped by north korean regulars within days; their only fighting experience up to that point was in bitchslapping jap women and girls as they were raping them on occupation duty. they spent the better part of the war bombing from 30,000 feet and lobbing artillery shells while the PLA and norks took the fight to them at a nose's length. the pattern of machine gunning civilians and raping little girls was carried over to full fledged doctrine in nam, where incompetent hillbilly trash, incapable of fighting a hardened guerilla force, spent most of their time running children over in their APCs and naping and raping the locals.

which carries us into grenada. 1500 special operations forces against some 90 elderly cuban security guards. panama was just grenada squared. and then we enter the 5-stage iraq war: there was the 90-91 campaign in kuwait, the air war from 91-03 (with a vicious embargo on top of it0, then the 03-04 campaign, followed by the 04-11 insurgency and now we have endgame, with isis handing america's ass on a platter. meanwhile the american footprint in afghanistan is a moonbase in kabul and very little else. and what did america leave behind? countries with as much depeleted uranium waste as nam's got agent orange, torture chambers at bagram and abu ghraib, and a generations of orphans and widows that will hate america and americans for eternity.

Who do you think is running ZH now? What bugs me is that the quality of editing has degraded. It seems that one in three articles on ZH now has at least one typo. To me, it implies that they are not especially concerned with the accuracy of the content as much as the reaction it gets.

"Compassion"  understanding the pain of others!
And yes all could have jobs and should that would make it a better world?
But maybe we/you should ask the question "why? or for who?

The other question you may ask you self how would you feel if your little baby got killed from the over-blast of a drone strike from a foreign Drone in your home town in USA would you love the people that said sorry collateral damage!
Would you wish them well or just maybe go why did they come here and kill my babies what kind of god do they have to kill children ands just say sorry it your fault for living where you do.

A question some one put to me do your really think someone in a hut in a rice paddy in Vietnam really give a shit if you watch TV or not in USA?

And do you really think anyone that's never even seen a TV or knows who runs their country it a threat your  Freedom or should be carpet bombed.

Go fist yourself. What I said is the absolute truth. I knew a young man who blew his face off with a shotgun after suffering PTSD for the gunning he did on top of a humvee. Tell me: was the kid's life i referred to more or less valuable than the literal millions who have been killed over the decades? Whoever you waited for at Dover is the same scenario. Imagine a drone strike or hellfire missile maiming millions more. Imagine telling an 11 year old boy who got his junk blown off he will never have a family, love a woman, see the birth of his child, etc. Keep sucking military dick, faggot.

WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.

A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small "inside" group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes.

In the World War [I] a mere handful garnered the profits of the conflict. At least 21,000 new millionaires and billionaires were made in the United States during the World War. That many admitted their huge blood gains in their income tax returns. How many other war millionaires falsified their tax returns no one knows.

How many of these war millionaires shouldered a rifle? How many of them dug a trench? How many of them knew what it meant to go hungry in a rat-infested dug-out? How many of them spent sleepless, frightened nights, ducking shells and shrapnel and machine gun bullets? How many of them parried a bayonet thrust of an enemy? How many of them were wounded or killed in battle?

Out of war nations acquire additional territory, if they are victorious. They just take it. This newly acquired territory promptly is exploited by the few -- the selfsame few who wrung dollars out of blood in the war. The general public shoulders the bill.

And what is this bill?

This bill renders a horrible accounting. Newly placed gravestones. Mangled bodies. Shattered minds. Broken hearts and homes. Economic instability. Depression and all its attendant miseries. Back-breaking taxation for generations and generations.

For a great many years, as a soldier, I had a suspicion that war was a racket; not until I retired to civil life did I fully realize it. Now that I see the international war clouds gathering, as they are today, I must face it and speak out.

No country threatens to take over the US and take away its freedoms. No terrorist cell can ever "take over" a US town, let alone a city. The only one taking away freedoms is the US government, intelligence agencies, secret services and military. The soldiers are just scapegoats and props, who often don't realize how they're being used by the militarized oligarchy state.

You want to know about freedom? I'll tell you about freedom.

I'm writing a short article for a civics class this week about diversity. As I went through the articles that the professor posted to write about I had a strange feeling come over me. Somehow I felt I was in the Twilight Zone episode "It's a Good Life." The one where Anthony wishes everyone, that he gets pissed at, into the cornfield. On one of the sites the articles were posted at, (that articles that I have to write on) I noticed lots of globalist links to CBS NPR Buzzfeed and the like. That is when it hit me. These amoral corporations that are funding diversity projects, the economic interlinking organizations, are like Anthony, and they are cultivating humans for harvest. Any people that get in their way are sent to the cornfield. Of course I can't write about what is really taking place other than to point out where the funding is coming from. It is a matter of saying what I can without having the professor wish q99x2 into the cornfield. Freedom, what do you mean by that? The problem with the human language seems to me, now that I've studied it for 3 years, is that it leads one to understand that the image created by diction is more important than meanings derived from words, and that image is illusary. Whenever you look into the meaning transferred by the words you always arrive looking into the abyss; You arrive at that glitch in the matrix every fucking time. In the case of the word diversity I see corporate fascism and the most dangerous force on this planet.

About the only thing I can think of to tell a higher power is "I WAS DRAFTED AND I WAS ORDERED"
Pretty lame excuse for crimes against humanity.

Question: What did Vietnam have to do with freedom?

Early on I could see calling someone a gook didn't make it ok to kill what looked to be a unarmed group of humans.

They the ones that had more rank... no more brains but more rank would tell us.
Its OK kill them they may look unarmed but they are going to sneak up on us later and they are just hiding the Vietcong from us so we need to kill everything and everyone they are evil enemy sympathizer at best.
And being young and dumb they would follow up with "If you don't kill them they may kill your buddy's latter so do you want to be responsible for killing G.I.s?"

Older and wiser now the question one should ask as a human is "What are you doing If you think you need to kill unarmed people defending there home from you in there country not your country?"

In hindsight I should have gone to Canada, Canada doesn't work anymore (Canada seems to have sold out also..see link below ##aa)

So many people have made personal sacrifices for what they believed in, that it is tempting not to challenge what they believed in because of their sacrifice.

We should admire people who have such strength in their convictions that they are prepared to die for them.

However, it is our duty to make sure that those convictions are well-founded so that their sacrifice is not wasted.

I think a lot of the responses to this post are rightfully focused on "what constitutes a well-founded conviction?".

I don’t want to blame the victim again.  There is a group of elitists at work in our country and throughout the world that honestly thinks that they alone have the right to decide this issue to further their interests.

If there is hope for this world, it is that we are beginning to figure out who they are.

So the last pretenses of Christianity, or what most of my people believe Christianity to be, are being systematically dispensed with now they are no longer useful to the master class. (Most of Ireland's actual Christians, i.e. Protestants, had fled the Free State in the 1920's.)

Take heart. My people's habit of backing the wrong horse---proud supporters of Napoleon, Hitler and the Fakestinians---suggests that the Irish Free State's vote for gay marriage, dispensing with the pretense of Christian morality, is a sign of Peak Faggotry.

In Ulster, from whose people most Irish-Americans (or rather "Scots-Irish") are actually descended, faggots are still not able to get married, and the right of the unborn to life is still respected. If Ulstermen have any say about it, that's how matters will remain.

Today's war is being fought for control of the mind.

The European socialist chorus all sing about the evils of America.

The Red Choir of Russia and China harmonize about how evil America is.

The entrenched apparatchiks in Washington, the carefully selected mouthpieces of the media, the jealous guardians of popular culture all sing about the evils of America.

America is guilty, they say. America must atone. America must pay. America must submit itself to their vile prescriptions if it ever wants to be healed. America must, in short, become indistinguishable from them.

It's a ceaseless intellectual barrage of die grosse Lugen (the Big Lie) and it gradually has an effect on even the most steadfast and intelligent souls.

Even those who are not buying the remedy they are selling have nevertheless allowed themselves to be convinced that the premise they offer is a correct one.

America is not evil. The men and women who are deliberately misdirecting its energies are evil. Their collectivist philosophy is the antithesis of everything that America stands for. So long as they reign in the corridors of power, culture, education, and information, the mask of evil will continue to be projected over the face of a good and generous nation.

Abandoning the cause of America because they have convinced you that it is more evil even than the ones you know are malignant warms the cockles of their stony hearts. America is the only force on earth which they truly fear. It is the only power which stands in the way of full realization of their nightmarish dream of a return to the darkness of humanity in bondage to its ruling class. As it once was, so do they desire it to be again.

Join forces with the people you hate, with the people who ceaselessly delude you, and bring America down. Flatter yourself into thinking that you are not doing the work of those you despise.

But the monstrous conspiracy which they call their cause will fail. So it is written.

Freedom: the power & authority to act, speak or think without externally imposed restraints OR "Immunity from an obligation or duty"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not one person has ever had real FREEDOM, it is the grandest of illusions that delusional and unthinking people hold onto out of sheer ignorance or stupidity.  We have only limited choices that are becoming more limited and that is referred to, rightly, as liberty.  If people would only learn to use a dictionary, then they would understand that ALL are born enslaved in this world.  The Scripture and Jesus, Himself, told all of us that we are "slaves" to either Him or the world with Satan as the head of worldly household.  The question is what family are YOU in?

It is important to know that Tyler Durden does not really exist,

except as a fictional caracter from the fight club fiction fantasy genre.

that caracter was pretty fucked up, and thought it useful to bash himself and his mindless doormats senseless,

in some idiotical and suicidal game, to blow his brains out....

and yes, there have been changes on ZH....

surprised ?

not really.

Never forget the price of getting your legs and balls blown off for an imbecile like GWB and Dick &Co., (who really wouldn't seriously ever be your friend anyway) to install a full on terrorist organizationworse than anything Bin Laden could have dreamed of in Iraq, Syria...etc....

And oh yeah, family friends of the Bush Family.

Fuck you to Carl Rove and Wolfowitz too,,  you god dam murderers.

Iraq was not, was obviously not for oil. You dont spend 3 trillion to give the Chinese cheap oil while they and the Russians continue the attack on the FRN.

Many repeat this "its all about the petrodollar" line but apparently have never looked at the numbers.

If you wanted Iraq to sell oil only in dollars, there were far, far more expedient ways - it is ABSURD to think we spent all that time, money and energy to make sure Iraq sold its oil in dollars.

It simply isnt true when you look around the decision makers below Bush the puppet and Cheney the admitted war profiteer no bid king.

If you are a fucking halfwit, eternal vigilance won't help either.

you sit there losing sleep being vigilant and you piss a lot of people off,

acting like a moron on PTSD.

next thing you end up with a hole in the head.

Its much better being nice to people, make love and not war and make lots of friends around the world,

have a nice life and die peacefully of natural causes...

but each to his own...

eternal vigilance is bullshit NSA thinking....

who is the real enemy ?

when is a defence really an offence ?

what is real and what is fantasy and bullshit ?

these are the questions people should ask themselves.

the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Ignorance and stupidity is the real enemy.

A soldier should not act like a robot, or drone!

War should not be some kind of remote control game!

most soldiers throughout history have been mercinary killers...

outsourced and hired killers.

I owe much to my father, who joined the Army in Dec 1941. He fought in North Africa, Italy and Normandy. He fought Nazis. A task worth doing. After that, all our wars have been Deep State Looting Adventures. Iraq was the worst, the lowest, biggest lie, looting adventure ever.

What do you think preceded World War II?  The same things you described after you talked about your father.  How was the US brought into World War II...just pointing out the facts.  Just because one fought against the "Nazi's" does not make it right or wrong; we now live in a country full of them as a result of World War II.  It was also that generation that failed to keep the moral values of this nation intact by teaching it to the next generation and it is the "Great Moral Failures", the turning away from Biblical ethics, that we find ourselves against our Creator and are and will continue to suffer the consequences as all nations before U.S. have.  We are past the point of no return...."teach me your ways LORD, that I may live by Your truth".----------------------------------------------------

I am not putting you father down, I never knew him; I am just pointing out that the so-called "Greatest Generation" is that generation that failed to impart godly principals for future generations.

what the fuck does US military action have to do with our freedom?

I say that both as a vet and a student of history.

Even World War 2, prior to goading the Japs into an attack, was not America's fight [spare me the death camps which no one seems to have heard of until well after the war, and no one seemed to give a shit about massacres in Cambodia or Sudan or Congo].

But nothing since has been anything to do with Freedom.

What kind of fox news wearing cunt could come up with this shit now?

Most officers by now would groan at this shit.

Many of the comments I read on ZH today make me feel the same way as I did after Vietnam. When I came back to my home town in uniform I was spit at and jeered after that war. I was proud to wear that uniform and serve my country. Those like me who served, those that died or were wounded did it for love of country.

Too many confuse the cartoons message. As a Mark Twain said “I love my country ALWAYS and my government when they deserve it.”  We are honoring those that loved their country especially those that made the ultimate sacrifice. Please honor their memory…

Dear RabbitOne,

I have often read that the "spitting on veterans" was a myth. Care to expand on your experiences?

"spit at and jeered".

Karl Rove's Young Repubicans dressed as hippies using dirty tricks to discredit the war protesters. I was a war protester and crossed the country doing it for several years. NO ONE I ever met blamed ANY soldier. Several of my high school friends were drafted as were everyone else's who protested.

Exactly who were you servingor do you even know?  Did you go to fight based on Constitutional principles or fighting for the globalist, the very ones who would and are and have destroy you, your family and your nation that you no longer recoginize?

----------------------------------------------------------

I am not against you, for I do not know you, but I know we are related as we are all related.  I am sorry that people would spit or "jeer" on you or any other person returning from the horrors of any war.  At the same time, you must come to the reality of who you actually fought for; just as those who are now fighting in so many countries....we are making eneimes we never had before.  God bless you and I mean that from the heart!!
