On Memorial Day, Who Is America's True Superhero
On such a 'patriotic' weekend, we thought it appropriate to consider who is the 'MVP' superhero of our time. Captain America? No. How about Ironman? No. What about Superman? Nope... The most valuable superhero of our time is a dark, deranged masked-human dressed in black...
Batman.

*Comic* book sales, Tyler. You ever read the old Batman comics? They were kickass. The rest of those are loser comics, spare original Spiderman...
People especially adults who read comic books are not exactly the most discerning, intelligent or cultured people.
Whaddaya mean?
Why do all super-heroes wear speedos/thongs OVER their pants? ;-)
Looney
I wanna be Robin!
OK, then I get Spartacus!
PS Robert Crumb is all the Comix U Ever Need
Freak Brothers. Too cool. Keep on Truckin'
WTF!?
No Fritz the Cat!?
And yes it really was a comic strip first:

Superhero? I'd have to go with The Hog of Steel®, fearless, fighting, foulmouthed Wonder Warthog.

Here's a WW image that I'd never seen before; the caption seems to be rather timely:
"At ease, America, put the power back on the shelf!"

Vanth Dreadstar of Metamorphosis Odyssey.
Enjoyed the Graphics during its First Run on on Epic Illustrated. Read about a handful of Anti-Heroes having to deal with several Epic Ethical Dilemmas - involving tough choices on how one Protagonist dealt with a Violence-Mongering Rabid Horde of Crazed Zealots that's about to overcome and bring an end to All Civilized Life within the Milky Way.
Looks like Present Day Earth has its own set of "Zygoteans"...
Guardians of the Galaxy of the Movies? Didn't see it, since we know it's been P*ssy-fied.
For some more Doom/Dystopia Pr0n Fans (read, half of ZH Readers and Tylers on Staff, ROTFL!!), I recommend Psycho_Pass.
It's set in a dystopian future in Japan, where there is a "Thought/Aura Police" - along with nice plot twists and unique Antagonists challenging the Mechanism behind the Nanny-State and Thought/Aura Police.
Brilliant SciFi Detective Thriller.
I recommend the Animation Version due to good Production Work - Quality Cell Artwork, CGI Integration, Choice and Graphics of Opening/Ending Theme Songs as well. JPN Animations - especially for Popular/Adult Oriented Shows, tend to cross market with Hit Musicians, or launch promising Newbies.

Stereotype 101.
In my experience stereotypes are true WAY more often han they are false. Especailly stereotypes about Canadians.
Damn Canadians.
Americas religion of fake heros.
Meanwhile xazars milk you dry and you wait for comics guy to save you.
Beyond pathetic
I was the last of my species to read physical encyclopeidas, and I grew up reading comics of all sorts before proceeding to serious matters. Don't read much of anything anymore, other than datasheets, but I still have a liking for comics. I'm sure you enjoy Dilbert and other strips like that, even though you may be talking shit about it in context of crusty nerd comic collectors, etc.
Here's a great 'grown up' comic, illustrated by one of the legends.

Why isn't Batman Presi-den?
Skateboarder,
don't be so hasty in making such bold and exotic declarations. you were in no wise the last to tour through the glossy pages of britannica. for you see, some of us were raised in homes where every wave transmitted and received through antennas was automatically suspect (satan is the prince of the power of the air(waves) after all). and so it was that radios were not permitted and television was to be viewed only under tight and highly scrutinized supervision; furthermore, whensoever television was by young janus absorbed through the eyes and ears, it was never without a sanctioned adult present to present a running commentary detailing the devilish subtleties unseen by the stupefied heathen sinners of 'the world'.
but wait, it gets a touch zanier from there. in the earliest of my formative years, the only encyclopedias trusted were those from britannica published prior to 1930-something (there was this theory as to their editorial board's infiltration by godless workers of iniquity at some point in that decade). i want to say that my first set was from 1919; and from it a young janus developed an understanding of history, science and the arts that doesn't comport with modern notions (which is likely why i still favor literature from the 1830s to the 1930s). even so, i treasure those late nights huddled under a quilt with my tiny ceramic lamp, terror-stricken that i'd at any moment be discovered in my deceit. i laugh when thinking back...no rule in my home was ever to be abrogated; and reading after bedtime -- though edifying and of great benefit -- would no doubt have invited some very visceral discipline. ahhhh, memories.
alas, progress was to eventually slither in the janus home. in or around my twelfth year, cable television's line snaked into our house and coiled itself about our minds (my father's reasoning being: Jesus loves him; and why, therefore, would The Lord deny him access to his beloved alma mater's football games? simple answer: He wouldn't. and were it not for the advent of ESPN, i highly doubt our home would've seen any programming apart from the big 3 & PBS for years to come). then came the VCR. after which, an updated set of britannicas from the 80s and, naturally, the onset of perdition.
but progress did not come without a bit of trauma. the section on evolution was removed by slicing each page so devoted at the seam of its binding...like it was never even there.
nevertheless, it was from those pages that i learned of verboten subjects. the negroid, the mongoloid, the jap (and, yes, the japanese were highly esteemed by the racist editors of britannica; and were to them nothing like the mongoloids to their west) the asiatic, the nordic, the gaul, the iberian, flanders, greeks, italians, moors, hindus, injuns, the arab, the slav, the anglos/saxons/jutes & celts and, of course, the jew were all analyzed and evaluated without fear of reprisal and without the rigid PC parameters what limit opinion to that which doesn't offend any save the observant and intuitive. most don't take offense to this world's intractable demand best surmised in this lil adage: "who you gonna believe, your lying eyes or 'me'?" but i do.
i choose to go on believing my lying eyes...and i pay a steep price for it.
and comic books? more devil's handiwork. but my folks were obviously VERY liberal, and so i was permitted a few among those published by disney. as someone else mentioned above, scrooge mcduck was likewise my fav. the only scottish superhero there ever was...except, perhaps, William Wallace (to whom i'm distantly related...or so i was told by a mormon who was rather certain of it). some say macbeth was a great scot; but to janus he was more an anti-hero, sorta like james rockford with a lot of family issues.

What do you preferred, Karl Marx: Das Kapital or Saul Alinsky : Rules for Radicals?
My hero is Big Dick Willie from north Philly. A crackhead was robbing his car in North Philly and he shot him with a crossbow. True story.
Disclaimer: Big Dick Willie from North Philly is not related to or associated with Sweet Dick Willie from South Philly.

You might ask, "where the fuck does all this goldman research come from?".
Humm.
Chiwowwow rules!
Benjamin Grimm rules. Period.
Grimmy?
Thing.
Greg Capullo's run on Batman was awesome if you ask me... Ok I'm out...
There are no superheroes left in America since the death of Smedley Butler so we are restricted to fictional heroes.
Kennedy tried to smash the CIA into a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds but instead his brains were blown into a thousand pieces. Since November 22, 1963, a cabal of murderous criminals has run America.
Who was the greatest real superhero of America of the last 100 years? That is the more appropriate question for Memorial day so we can remember him/her?
But, of course, the ordinary folks who laid down their lives need to be remembered and honored.
"Kennedy tried to smash the CIA into a thousand pieces and scatter it to the wind "
I am sick of hearing the bullshit Kennedy/Camalot myth recounted.
JFK was an oligarch/mobster's son.
Joe was effectively the equivalent of a modern drug cartel god-father, a greedy murderous scumbag with aspirations of elevating his sons to high office in order to protect him from prosecution TBTF syle and aid him in the perpetuation of his racketeering, smuggling, dealing, dumping, frauds, etc..
Joe was such a ruthless, controlling, opproessive bastard that he also had his own daughter commited, tortured, drugged., and finally given a crude lobotomy rather than allow her to lead her own life...
IMHO, the last fucking thing that the USA needs is to further perpetuate or tolerate any myths or fairy tales about the sullied and ruthless members of the mob families of the Duopolistic Criminal Syndicate such as:
the Kennedys,
the Rockefellers,
the Prescott/Bushs,
the Cuomos,
the Daleys,
the Roosevelts,
the Bidens,
etc., or to promote any of the wanna-bes like Rand Paul and Hillary Clinton..
I always forget the names.
- The term robber baron derives from the medieval German lords who charged nominally illegal tolls (tolls unauthorized by the Holy Roman Emperor) on the primitive roads crossing their lands[4] or the larger tolls on ships traversing the Rhine[4]—all such actions without adding anything of value,[4] (see robber baron) but instead lining one's pockets to the detriment (added costs) of the common good.

The Flash.
And he's not even on that list.

Dovie'andi se tovya sagain (It's time to toss the dice)
Got Karatbars?
Comic books were comissioned by the CIA. In Fahrenheit 451 they were the only legal books. Wonder why ???????
Rand Paul
So far Rand is a hero in my book. His old man is the superhero.
My "superhero" is Rothbard.
Liberty is a demand. Tyranny is submission.
And my lawyers at AK, AR, and Glock.
He attended Columbia University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics in 1945 and, eleven years later, his PhD in economics in 1956.
Looks like he wrote 20 books, so maybe the hard work is complete.
Still probably would take me 10 years to learn his material.
If Batman were real he'd have put the majority of the crooks and psychopaths/sociopaths in Wall Street and Washington in Arkham Asylum by now.
That is why fictional characters are the heroes - because real heroes are so few and far between in the Potterville/Biff's World we live in.
A good king, a superman, a messiah, or a comic book hero are delusional myths satisfying the craving of the sheeple for some one to think for them. Trust with belief and hope are indoctrinated into the sheeple by their media, their spiritual guides, their government masters, and their teachers.
Trust enslaves. Power corrupts. This time is the same as last time.
This holiday is for those who died in the Wars. Misslead as they were they died for all of us.
Those that caused all the death and misery will be singled out and get their just rewards as will their Minnions who try to protect them. The men/women on the front lines (army) should turn their guns around when the streets are full of the common people. Those that don't.....well......... just collateral damage. Their bodys will get mutilated, or eaten.
And the "MVP" goes to...."rrrrip puuuff" George Soros. Of course it depends on whose side your on. Myself.....Ted Cruz is the man.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH ALL THOSE YOUNG KIDS TODAY!?!?
when I was young, I bought playboys and penthouse magzines if I wanted to read some comics...
Using ICRAP these days. Shows the inbreeding in the USSA
don't see many traditional couples, but plenty of male/male couples.. surprised that only 3.8% of population in America is gay
I was hoping it was the Guy Fawkes dude from V for Vendetta.
The Guy Fawke dude gets an award for "Most Traveled." I mean from Athens to Cairo to London there he is. He has been known to be seen in the States as well. Always the same look.
Mine is Jesus Christ; a real super hero that is worthy of ALL true worship!
We'll be did ransack a jew bank and walked away, wtf most of your fantasy G string wearing super heroes tore a few buildings up bringing the Jews their money back. So yea he rates right up their for that and just a few other things.
Makes sense: he's super-rich, goes after common criminals, and ignores government and banker criminals...just like real "crime fighters."
It's not Captain Communist in the White House?
Lucky Luke.
Cool, Clint Eastwood-like cartoon cowboy hero addored by teenagers in Europe in 60-s & 70-s.
He would be more popular still... if he were a mulatto instead of just... "black"... maybe on welfare, food stamps and an arsonist too? Or... a community organizer that is a pathalogical liar and bonesmoker, married to a transvestite racist? Now THERE is a ZERO... er... hero.
I gave the article a 1 rating for calling Batman deranged. We could use people like him now, fighting the real crooks.
Batman is actually a figure statists would totally hate if he were real. There is btw. even an "alternate history" Batman story in which he helps rescue the papers of Ludwig von Mises from the Nazis.
I don't get it. I thought Mr. Yellen; hands down.
So, Goldman spends money to find out the king imaginary super character? Or how people like or dislike their fairy tales? That's awesome.
U.S. Murder Corporation marketing codified into a holiday.
All super comics have one huge flaw:
If it takes superpowers to defeat evil, what hope is there for us?
All that shit does is teach everyone hopelessness.
[edit] and that someone magical wil come along and solve all our problems for us.
where is Archie?
