Guest Post: Gray Skies And Memorial Day Reflections

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Scott Spangler via JetWhine.com,

Most Americans today have but two connections with those who serve and have served in the military, and especially those who have perished in that service. The first is the hollow seconds it takes to utter “Thank you for your service,” an seemingly autonomic reflex when seeing someone in uniform. The other occurs should they see a film about any of our many conflicts. Since America’s last declared war, which ended 70 years ago, Memorial Day has become an annual celebration of patriotic hypocrisy, when people might notice that the American flag they ran up their front yard pole last year is faded and frayed and, maybe, add a new one to their celebration’s shopping list.

True appreciation is measured by our depth of experience and understanding.

Today, less than 1 percent of the population reaps the benefits resulting from the service and sacrifice of the less than 1 percent of the population who serve the politicians elected by the majority of people who separate, and have no direct involvement with, these two segments of society. And this disconnection and separation is no accident.

During the war Congress declared the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor, citizens didn’t thank members of the military for their service because everyone, one way or the other, was involved and contributed to a successful outcome. For many, Korea is a forgotten conflict, but it set the stage for all the undeclared conflicts that followed. War, as Eisenhower warned, is big business, and public protest is a political challenge that complicates their promotion and prosecution. Vietnam proved this, and people protested because the draft could send any one of them into harms way. And on the nightly news they would watch their loved ones suffer for a cloudy cause.

The politicians, most of whom have never served and faced the possibility of a sudden end to life, solved this problem by replacing the draft with the all volunteer force. And never again would the news media work with the unrestricted access it had in Vietnam. Nor could they show the return of flag-draped transfer cases. “Privacy,” the politicians said, but certainly a planeload of flags bedecked boxes says something more—something different—than a missing-man flyover and the single triangle-folded flag presented to the family to conclude a funeral’s full military honors.

Understanding is the antidote for hypocrisy, and films that promote and criticize America’s endless series of conflicts can contribute to it. Watching requires more involvement than saying “Thanks” to a uniformed stranger. Put yourself in the protagonist’s place and wonder how you—and your family—would feel and deal with the consequences projected on the screen. Build on this understanding, test its veracity with questions and settle for nothing less than a direct answer to it, make it a resource that guides your daily decisions.

In so doing you can honestly honor those for whom this holiday was created after the nation’s most catastrophic conflict, the U.S. Civil War, which took the lives of roughly 620,000 individuals in military service.

When your kids come to you and tell you they're considering joining the military, ask them to recite the oath they have to take when inducted, then shoot it full of holes with examples of current events.

Do not provide your children as cannon fodder for the elites that never got their hands dirty...

What yardstick do you measure the lives of your children by?

cost benefit.  Yeah you risk getting killed or maimed BUT if you dont, you get a better paycheck than you would on the free market, with education benefits afterward.  The cherry on top is you learn how to fight and survive from the best killers in the world - a skillset that could prove to be very marketable in a now-twenty-something's lifetime.

That's the carrot. Desensitizing to kill is the condition. It's like playing Russian roulette. Even if you win, you really don't. To voluntarily die for an unjust cause is a fool's errand.

I have never ever f**king understood why someone would surrender their life to be a puppet for a corrupt federal govt. I get it that in WW1, WW2 and Civil War the young men were lied to.  WW2 and Hitler's backers included all the elite, monarchies, red shield et al.  It was one of the biggest cons like the endless false flags.

Put on a uniform, surrender my life and rights so some scum bag will send me to my death cause some chickenshit general or Senator could care less about me or LBJ wants to make a few billion more with phony Gulf of Tonkin.

Or where an Admiral like McCain's old man would leave me to be murdered on the USS Liberty.   It defies logic that people are stupid and do not think it through.

Read The Constitution.  I support a State Militia if there is a need to defend the homeland or state or whatever.  I would be there to protect my family/home/neighbors.

I am not going to Vietnam or Afghanistan for LBJ/Lady Bird's tens of millions to support the hundreds of billions in dollars opium smuggling business.

Freddie, turn it around and mull it over in todays terms.  Young kids are not being asked to sign up for the military.  Young kids are being forced into college and taking on enormous personal debt for said college degrees.

It's a disgrace and a waste of our youth i.e. our national treasure.

Freddie, the problem is the truth is not told to these young people. Being in San Diego, I see many young men entering the military and it often the result of propaganda vomitus spewed from the Neocons or simply economic necessity. It's very depressing to see such abuse of the elite over the young and I hope some day they will be enlightened and use their fighting skills to put this country back on track.

Looking back on my life, I am furious and ashamed that I fell for such bullshit in the MSM and trusted people I thought were genuine and had truth. However, it never cost me my life nor left me so physically/mentally damaged my life was ruined. We are sending young men out to be slaughtered or having the pressure so great they are dying at their own hand. Sometimes I wonder if there ever were a defensive war in this country we'd have the capability to win it.

I don't believe this is a matter of condoning an action. If I read the pulse of my environment correctly, it is a forgone conclusion. The timeline is the only unknown variable.

Obviously I have no wish for this but I think it is unwise just to assume it couldn't happen. I have never seen such anger and stress in the average person I meet and wonder if this is universal.

Whoa boy, someone is salivating and provocatively obstreperous tonight! He/she could try a "gun free zone" sign and pray for effect? Actually, I have contemplated using one myself. I just wouldn't divulge the fact I would be fully armed to the gills standing behind the door. A bait car with teeth!

I have a lot of apologizing to do after I die. I hope God is not Just. I'm going for the mercy angle.

Every time a see a person in uniform (of a lower rank), I pity them for not having better opportunities or for being so stupid as to allowing themselves to become paid murderers for the elitists.

I have to believe that the higher level officers know what they are.

Let's see who is in favor of war and who profits from war:

-

- US Congress, since they have volunteer force their kids & grandkids are not going to fight at all, at all in any conflict
- Bankers are known to fund Wars and to see the wars in advance that they are funding since at least 1917 (100 Years)
- Defense & Security Contractors (the MIC-Security, Prison Industries)

But the Asymmetric Warfare includes years of other tactics by Banks to short currency, to short stocks, to Create Sanctions & Trade Barriers, to Create Blockades.

Question: are the US Wealthy & EU Wealthy positioned to make money, careers, new government jobs, assignments to state departments or embassies... favors such as jobs and careers for Relatives or Descendents... Nepotism Western Style???

What is the next Frontier for Wall Street Asymmetric Warfare??

State or City Pension Funds, Transportation Funds, Infrastructure Funds, Utility or Sewer Funds, EBT Funds, Medicare/Medicaid Funds, Social Security Funds, Gasoline Tax for Industry Shocks, Commodity Tax for Economic Shocks, Federal Guarantees for any Industry like Insurance for Farming Insurance, ... look where the money is, where the flow of money is... If retail is slow, then they go after government funds or pension funds.

TPP Deal is still an unknown to me. It must be well thought-out Attack on US Consumers and Jobs... since these are money flows...

TPP must be equal to a tax in that private work is taxed or hit with fees or 'cheap free trade becomes mandatory or expensive due to conditions beyond our control'.

Nationalism and/or patriotism doesn't hold the same ebullient stridency it once did for me either.

Something to do with "the people" not giving a shit about "me" being forced to buy a product or service because it subsidized them, while enriching the elites who front-ran the whole scam.

I will say this though, my nephew just joined up and passed through the other side of their indoctrination program, when TSHTF I now know what the drone is going to fire at.

Go Air Force ;-)

My condolences. I will say if you had told me 30 years ago I would be ashamed of my country I would have spat in your eye. Now I'm just fucking pissed off I was duped for so long. I'm just too damn old and powerless to change anything and the idea Hitlery will take us to new depths of the sewer doesn't temper my mood.

Ah the impetuousness of youth! Who am I to judge?

It is apparent that the axiom-matic “Thank you for your service,” is melting away faster than an ice cube on a July sidewalk.

With good reason too.
Why thank someone for signing up to protect the banksters?

WW1 --- U.S. involvement scripted to protect U.S. bank loans to England & France
WW2 --  Roosevelt had promised Churchill  U.S. would join in, U.S. had cracked Japanese code and knew Pearl Harbor attack was imminent (that's why orders from Washington came to send the important Carriers out on patrol and leave the obsolete battleships as Zero bait.

Vietnam --- Gulf of Tonkin incident  ---as complete a farce as WMDs in Iraq
Iraq --  What ever happened to those WMDs the U.S. claimed to exist. How come no gov heads rolled for such a mistake.

I looked at this guys site (Jetwhine.com, an aviation centered site). 5 bucks bet that he makes a living in some shape or form  from MIC/government spending.

Join the military if you wish, but don't expect anything from me except the thought that you're a dupe, worse ... a fool given a gun and mind programmed to carry out a hijacked governments agenda. Enjoy your job while it lasts for as soon as robots are perfected you'll be cast aside.

I went to the veterans hospital today. Lots of guys there were alone, so I just sat down and introduced myself, and didn't say anything. Then, they started to talk. But then most of them would start to cry about stuff. And I just sat there with them. I didn't say anything. I just sat there with them for awhile, so they wouldn't have to say they spent this day alone.

Real Memorial Day: It's Time To Stop Lying To Ourselves

This Memorial Day, remember that our so-called government doesn't give a shit about our soldiers and conducts false flags to bamboozle the sheeple. If you chose to celebrate Memorial Day, remember and honor the dead by becoming politically active and awaken people to 9-11 truth.
