Margin call?
I imagine with the Fed Put under the market and everybody all in, it won't take long for those calls to happen.
We're gonna need a bigger circuit breaker, as this madness cannot be allowed to stand!
There are thousnds and thousands of wives learning tonight what a margin call is. Likely also derivatives.
W - wife
H - Investing genius hubby
w - But you promised me we would go out and eat tonight.
h - Well, uh, we need to retrench a bit.
w - Huh?
h - I had a bad day with our investments today and got a margin call.
w - WTF is a margin call?
h - Tries and basically fails to explain and adds...It means I had to put up more money for my investmenst.
w - WTF are you investing in
h - Well this slick derivative investment that is triple leveraged and goes up big time when the oil futures market goes up. Since I bought it on margin, the leverage is like 20 to 1. Awesome .... has been great for 5 years now. but not today.
w - Investing? That sounds like gambling. And BTW - why did you tap our retirement savings account today?
h - For the margin call. My bet, er I mean investment goes up big time if oil goes up. It went down.
w - Well what was the net today?
h - Overall, I lost about 290 K including the margin call. In fact, I lost more than we had invested. So don't send that retirement letter yet.
w - Walks out, goes to het Mothers and calls attorney friend. Googles derivative and margin call.
