The scholars who have studied the rise an fall of empires seem to be of the opinion the kind of entrenched corruption we now have will eventually end with a toppling crisis, barring a citizen revolt which I think is unlikely given the dumb down effect of the media and all of the free shit being handed out. I certainly don't think the Ferguson or Baltimore examples will lead anywhere because the Sharptonists of the world have convinced the idiots that the problem is racial and not broadly political and systemic.

Presumably a toppling can occur once a sufficient portion of the populace no longer believes it has a stake in the game and some other crisis precipitating event occurs.
Who knows how long this will take. A financial collapse is a good bet. But it could be some other Black Swan event.
If you look at Europe pre-WWII no one had any idea. It seemed like an unending string of crises. Tension, relief, tension, relief...then suddenly, boom.
For all of us in the meantime the best course of action is to prepare and try to educate those who are willing to listen.
Ignorant and lazy thanks to their "guberment." School daze could not be more boring. Dull teachers, a curriculum designed to hide the real history of our world, dumb text books printed decades ago or the more new COMMON CORE (let no imagination bloom) is just part of it. Add to that the toxic environment that allows methamphetamine to come into the country during the worst period known to modern man, a bone destroying substance, and then tell the PEOPLE - "No Rotten Teeth" - drink this shit called fluoride because we prefer you dumb as a box of rocks and your teeth shiny and white when you stand in the welfare line for those food stamps. And that air show above my head that has been unannounced but ongoing for a few years or more is in a NO AIR TRAFFIC zone but is in the middle of the Salad Bowl of the World - and the clouds that are not clouds are spraying down upon the water, soil and being absorbed one way or another BUT WE CANNOT TALK ABOUT THAT.
Oh, it's just very special being alive today. The stupid people designed to be stupid are being blamed for being stupid. Their health has never been worse and being half sick is not a medical diagnosis but LAZY BASTARDS covers the subject without an argument.
TO AMERICAN POLITICIANS - Everyone of you should be hanging your heads in SHAME for what you have done to a wonderful country with very good people. YOU ARE THE REASON WE ARE HERE. Being lazy and ignorant are the psychological end-result conditions. Americans have been the victims of the most scientific brainwashing that money could buy, for generation after generation. Beyond that, Americans have been the victims of the best organized gangs of criminals applying the methods of organized crime to the political processes to successfully capture control over the political processes.
AFTER the international banksters were able to recapture control over the American public "money" supply, everything else followed that pattern. As the saying goes, "The fish rots from the head." The current psychological condition of most Americans are that they have been reduced to become incompetent political idiots, who act like Zombie Sheeple. That did NOT happen by accident. It was due to the implementation of an overall plan, which was well executed by those doing that.
Americans, as well as almost all of the rest of the world, are more or less living inside of DEBT SLAVERY SYSTEMS, wherein almost everyone has adapted to be be debt slaves, while a few have adapted to be debt masters. It is possible for one to learn lots about the history of that, however, it is not practically possible to change anything regarding the ways the civilizations operate according to the principles and methods of organized crime.
It would take series of intellectual scientific revolutions for enough of the Zombie Sheeple to rediscover their inner Wolves, in order to more effectively respond to the degree that they have become nothing more than Zombie Sheeple, who are ignorant and lazy, because of the historical schedule of reinforcements that were applied to make them become that way. However, at the present time, there is almost nothing but a core of triumphant organized crime, controlling governments, surrounded by layers of controlled opposition, who are Black Sheeple, whose agenda is to promote the same bullshit solutions that "everyone should become better Sheeple."
Obama was necessarily the best available professional liar and immaculate hypocrite, in order to be able to become the President. The tragic trajectory we are on would predict that the next President would probably be even worse, for as long as the American political system can survive becoming runaway systems of legalized lies, backed by legalized violence, constantly becoming more psychotically out of touch with reality, since being able to back up lies with violence never stops those lies from still being false.
Obviously, Obama is merely another symbol of the basic problems, which are that civilizations necessarily operate according to the principles and methods of organized crime, and so, the only realistic ways to have better government is to have better organized crime. The majority of Americans have been too successfully conditioned to believe in bullshit to be able to sufficiently change the ways that they perceive politics. The core groups of organized crime that control governments continue to be able to also control all of the publicly significant opposition, such that there is practically no genuine opposition, because there is almost nobody in the public spaces that is able and willing to promote more radical truths about what the problems really are, namely that governments must necessarily be the biggest forms of organized crime, controlled by the best organized gangs of criminals.
To the degree that most American do not understand that, and do not want to understand that, then they are ignorant and lazy, and continue to behave like Zombie Sheeple, or incompetent political idiots, that are being fleeced to exhaustion, while being set up to be slaughtered. I wish that I could come to any other conclusions than that American society has become terminally sick and insane, however, I am not able to do so.
One can understand the problems, and their history. However, the more one learns, the worse it gets. So far, I have not seen any good grounds to doubt that these problems are going to automatically continue to get worse, faster, with no end in sight. The basic PARADOX continues to be the nature of social success based upon being able to back up lies with violence still never being able to stop those lies from being false. The mental condition of most Americans is that that are lazy and ignorant, because they have adapted to being debt slaves for generation after generation, and thus, have developed all of the mental attribute of people who live in slave societies. Of course, that is even worse to the degree to which the believed in the bullshit that they were living in a free society, operating democratically through the rule of law, expressed through the constitution and bill of rights, etc. ...
Actually, the public "money" supply became about 99% privatized, and therefore, less than 1% the reality of a democratic republic operating through the rule of law still existed. Instead, that fake democracy, based upon a fake education, automatically got worse, faster, at an exponential rate, for decade after decade, as it previously had done for generation after generation ...
However, while anyone who wants to can learn about the history of how that has happened, there are no practical ways to resolve those political problems, due the same PROCESSES IN THE FUNDING OF POLITICS. The degree to which the best organized gangs of criminals have been able to almost completely capture control over the powers of governments appears to have become irreversible, runaway social insanities, whereby the spirals of bigger legalized lies, backed by more legalized violence, continue to suffer from their underlying contradictions that those lies are never stopped from being false by being enforced.
The ROOT CAUSE of the reasons why most Americans have become ignorant, lazy, incompetent political idiots, or act like Zombie Sheeple, has been the social successfulness of backing up lies with violence controlling their lives, for generation after generation, as an exponentially accelerating rate, so that the majority of Americans have been reduced to becoming mentally enslaved, due to having been forced to adapt to and effectively accept their condition of debt slavery, driving itself towards debt insanities.
In my view, there are no ways to stop that from still getting worse, faster, because it would take a series of political miracles for enough of the Zombie Sheeple to recover from having degenerated into being like that. Those political miracles are especially improbable due to the degree that almost all of the publicly significant opposition to the established systems is controlled, so that about the only significant opposition behave like Black Sheeple, or reactionary revolutionaries, whose bogus "solutions" are to go backwards towards their favourite old-fashioned religions or ideologies.
To be realistic about the problems are to recognize that there is almost nothing but organized crime, surrounded by controlled opposition, which overall social situation has become a terminally sickness and social insanity. We are looking at final failure due to the paradox of too much success based upon being able to back up lies with violence, causing its own eventual mad self-destruction.
Along the way there, more and more of "We the People" were reduced to becoming Zombie Sheeple, for whom not reasonable expectations that they will stop being ignorant and lazy can be asserted. Even IF the established systems were to collapses into crazy chaos, that would not mean things could then get better, but rather, would more likely continue to get even worse, faster ...
The basic PARADOX is that what would be needed is for enough of the people to go through enough intellectual scientific revolutions, in order to guide some Second American Revolution and/or Second American Civil War, that had enough enlightenment behind it to result in enabling better organized crime, as better government, to emerge out of those transformations. However, since too many have become Zombie Sheeple, who are lazy and ignorant, there is no practical way to achieve that kind of transformation of the existing debt slavery systems, nor to change the ways that debt slavery is being backed up by wars based on deceits.
Meanwhile, I continue to discover the only consistent theme is that the more I learn about political problems, the worse they get ... Therefore, I am not able to conclude with any practical political solutions, because after fully facing the nature of the real problems, I have decided that those are most likely fatal conditions. At this point in time, other than irrational hope for some series of political miracles, I am not able to propose anything that could practically work, given the degree to which the established systems are runaway organized crime, surrounded by opposition that they control, to the degree that there is almost nothing else which can effectively resist the basic problem of there always being BIGGER FRAUDS ENFORCED.
More radical truths may as well be on the dark side of the moon, in respect of any practical political effects that those more radical truths could have in actually changing anything in the currently established systems of legalized lies, backed by legalized violence, where almost all of the apparent opposition to those ENFORCED FRAUDS is also integrated into the same bullshit world view regarding all of that. Metaphorically speaking, most of the lazy and ignorant Zombie Sheeple, are surrounded by the controlled opposition of Black Sheeple, whose bogus "solutions" to those problems are based on the same old bullshit that the biggest bullies originally promoted.

You have made many good points and stated them well. I would add that getting people to believe a big lie makes all other lies easy to swallow. As you aptly pointed out, the big lies such as, the US government is good and is necessary, is enforced through violence and this makes all the other 'little lies' easy for the government syndicate(s) to foist on the public. You also state in conclusion that there are no practical solutions due to the propaganda model creating a society of debt zombies and I somewhat agree. I do feel that we have a small chance to discover our political agency through direct democracy. If we decide to revolt or engage in civil war those choices are ultimately themselves the basis of a direct democratic choice and that possibly is the last hope we have. Imho, representative democracy, whether it is a republic or parliamentary system are patently flawed and it creates an entrenched ruling class which if given the power will use it to suppress the greater populace, creating a class system, the death of any real freedom, and that is where we are at today.
I also like to imagine that: "we have a small chance to discover our political agency through direct democracy," ... if, or rather, when, the centralized systems can not longer sustain themselves ???
Mostly I expect that to be due to having already strip-mined the concentrated natural resources which made centralized control of the exploitation of those resources practically possible, thereby reducing the viability of the economic models based upon concentrated natural resources enabling concentrated political power over those resources.
One question is how much more criminally insane the established systems are going to become ??? And therefore, how much of everything else they destroy simultaneously through their own mad self-destruction, and hence, how much of the local environments and potential for local economies, they drag down with their own concentrated mad self-destruction ... I do not know the answer to that question. However, I like to imagine some ways that some places may be able to weather the coming social storms, and emerge better afterwards, from having survived through that.
The established systems based upon ENFORCED FRAUDS, can not be "reformed." Those foundations are totally rotten, and nothing that merely "reforms" those could be adequate. Theoretically speaking, there must be some kind of "revolution." However, there are no good grounds to expect that need to be met, rather than in the worst possible ways, where only some survivors of the social storms caused by runaway social insanities based upon too much, ENFORCED FRAUDS, for too long, having controlled civilization to have behaved in criminally insane ways, that drove social polarization and destruction of the natural world too far for us to be able to fully comprehend those consequences ...
Certainly, at the present time, there are no indications that the next President of the USA will be better than Obama. Like many other people, about 8 years ago, I had a hard time imagining how any President could be worse than Bush II, and I too "hoped" that would not be the case. Fixing the FUNDING OF POLITICS PROBLEMS is a classic Catch 22, double-bind paradox, where one can not fix that problem unless one has already fixed that problem. Otherwise, the same crazy corruption automatically continues to get worse, as that spirals out of control even more than before ... A lot of the people who read Zero Hedge already know that the political economy is being dominated by ENFORCED FRAUDS, and that the central banks are out-of-control, run by gangsters that captured effective control of the government long ago, in ways which have automatically become worse at an exponentially accelerating rate. HOWEVER, the majority of Americans are too ignorant and too lazy to bother to learn about that problem, which tends to be compounded especially because the few that do learn something superficial about that GOVERNMENT ENFORCEMENT OF BANKING FRAUDS then tend to promote bogus "solutions" based on the same old-fashioned impossible ideals, which will actually continue to make the opposite happen in the real world.
It is an INTENSE PARADOX, to fully face the facts that governments are the biggest form of organized crime, controlled by the best organized gangs of criminals, in ways which then do not promote bullshit "solutions" based upon somehow stopping that from being the case. Competent citizens would have to understand that they are members of an organized crime gang called their country, and that government evolved as military organizations, because the death controls, or the murder systems, were the most important things that those did.
At the present time, it is practically impossible to imagine enough citizens becoming competent enough to understand and take responsibility for the ways that MONEY IS MEASUREMENT BACKED BY MURDER. Instead, we are looking at the banksters continuing to get away with more of their bullshit, as their debt slavery systems, backed by wars based on deceits, drive their tragic trajectory towards debt insanities provoking death insanities.
In my view, as that happens, there MIGHT emerge opportunities, in some local environments, for better systems to develop, where the survivors MIGHT be able to "have a small chance to discover our political agency through direct democracy."
