Caught On Tape: Cop Pulls Gun On 2 Kids, Unleashes Profanity-Laden Tirade In Affluent Suburb

I’ll be up front with you and say that this video is disturbing.
It’s like a bucket of ice-cold water thrown in the face of the dream world that most people are walking through.
Watching riots on TV in places like Baltimore and Ferguson, it’s easy to think, “That couldn’t happen here. All that police violence only happens in poor communities.”
Guess again.
This weekend it was the safe, quiet suburb of McKinney, Texas, about 30 minutes outside of Dallas.
McKinney is no gang-infested slum; it’s an affluent bedroom community with an average household income over $96,000 according to Colliers International.
(Having grown up just a few miles away, I would add that it’s pretty sterile too, full of big-box retailers, megaplex cinemas, and chain restaurants.)
Over the weekend some local kids were having a summer pool party to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
With that many adolescents crammed together in one place, there was undoubtedly some silly teenage drama going on. And police were called to the scene.
One of them starts off almost immediately screaming profanity-laden tirades at the kids, many as young as 14.
This courageous officer’s advice to young people included such gems as “Sit your asses down,” and “Don’t make me fuckin’ run around with 30 pounds of goddamn gear on. . .”
At one point throws a girl to the ground who had apparently failed to ‘get her ass out of here’ with appropriate alacrity.
You can see him grab her neck and attempt to shove her face into the pavement.
The kids all start screaming. Two of them rush over to try and help their classmate, at which point Captain America pulls his gun out and advances menacingly towards them.
They bolt. So he turns his attention back to the girl, grabs her head once again, and screams “ON YOUR FACE!!!” as he pins her down on the ground and puts her in handcuffs.
It’s really disturbing to watch.
Had it been a parent trying to grind his kid’s face into the pavement, Child Protective Services would have immediately removed the girl from the home and the father would be rotting in jail this very moment.
But when a police officer does it, he goes on ‘leave’. And only when he’s unlucky enough to be caught on camera.
If some random stranger grabbed your child and started attacking her, you’d instantly turn into Bruce Lee and put the guy in a Kung-Fu death grip.
But when a police officer attacks your child, the government expects you to just stand around and watch.
That’s one of the most disturbing things from the video.
You’ll see there are a bunch of adults in the video milling around with their hands in their pockets while the kids get abused.
I appreciate they’re doing whatever they feel like they can do to make the best of a bad situation.
But they’ve been indoctrinated for so long that their reaction is to be obedient and submissive. They don’t interfere with ‘the law’. They know their place and they act like it.
The kids, on the other hand, are all still young enough that they haven’t totally subordinated themselves to the state. There’s still a part of them that’s free.
So when the cops get totally out of control, their instinct is to fight back.
That is, after all, our natural instinct– to be free.
We have to -learn- to be intimidated and subservient to the state. We have to learn to stand around with our hands in our pockets while our children are abused. And that learning takes place in none other than the public school system.
I checked the McKinney Independent School District’s website and found that these kids all recite the Pledge of Allegiance in the morning, including that part about “liberty and justice for all.”
They sing songs gushing about freedom in America. But they just got a taste of how free they really are.
Hopefully that lesson stays with them. It’s certainly more powerful that an entire semester of the mandatory civics class they have to take.
After watching the video I actually downloaded a copy of the staple civics textbook Magruder’s American Government, and found a rather prescient passage in the first chapter:
“This nation was founded by those who loved liberty and prized it above all earthly possessions.”
True statement. But that instinctive flame to be free has gone out for so many people, not only in America but across the world.
And no nation can rise again until that flame is rekindled.
The textbook continues:
“To preserve and protect [their rights and liberty], each generation must learn and understand them anew, and be willing to stand up for them when necessary.”
Perhaps that time is finally coming.

He threw down on a group of unarmed, suburban teenagers with a (presumably) live weapon. The idiot is lucky he didn't kill someone. He created a situation which could have easily gone sideways in a very bad way... way too tightly wound and a liability to the city, the department and most especially the citizens. That's what I saw too. I saw a cop subdue (manhandle?) a teenage girl and a crowd rush in on top of him with two youths coming right for him with intent to pull the cop off until he brought his attention to them and then drew his weapon at which point they scuttled off. The cop did not draw his weapon on the girl, despite the narrative that is being pushed, he drew on the two young men flanking him.
Not only did the two guys rush the cop, they intentionally move to the side to have the flank attack and made motions as if taking a weapon from the back pocket or waist band. The cop drew the weapon, never pointed it directly at anyone, and the holsterd it after the two nutters ran off.

The trick is not to get noticed, and go around the problem. Confronting the low IQ government workers is just egging them on. I by no means want to be on the receiving end of any of this, and suggest others try and stay under the radar. All kinds of people do all kinds of horrible things. We have structures in place to deal with that to whatever extent possible (police, justice system). If black people commit crimes, like the ones you linked, they should be punished for it. If white people do the same, they should be punished for it the same. What we don't need is our police atrributing that behavior to an entire race of people, resulting in unjust treatment of citizens. What we don't need is unjust violence enacted by the police meant to protect us, because we as citizens have little recourse. Who protects us from the police etc.

The reality is that none of the kids in the video, black or white, were engaging in the behavior you seem to take great delight in describing. And while I don't doubt some black people did the terrible things you describe, I also don't doubt that some white people lynched, burned, shot, stabbed and beat black people to death.
Question is, should people be held accountable for the acts of others of the same race? If so, perhaps the knock-out game should simply be considered payback for 150 years of Jim Crow, lynchings and white vigilante "justice".
Save your racist remarks for someone who'll cheer you on. I was born and raised in the South by racists -- nigger was (and is) an everyday word among many members of my family. I've lived in minority communities and been both welcomed and attacked. Racism isn't exclusively a "white" phenomena, but is an individual decision.
Rather than describe all members of any race as either good or bad, I prefer to judge people as individuals. Treat me well, with respect, and I'll do the same. Treat me badly, and... well I've been known to react "badly" myself.
FWIW, I was in Texas (including Dallas) this past week. And I drove across the deep South. Saw lots of black folks and talked with many. Not one attacked me. None "chimped out". All laughed when I cracked a joke. Had some damn fine BBQ at a black-owned establishment. Never felt uncomfortable or worried about my safety (unarmed BTW) any place I went.

As far as what happened in McKinney, I doubt all the facts are known as yet. But from what I can see, in both this and another video or two, the officer's reaction was unwarranted.

I'm not pretending everything is alright, but we could at least acknowledge that being black isn't inherently problematic and that we've contributed to societal circumstances that create the behavior we're so oppossed to. We should be working to ensure that every citizen has no excuses for bad behavior, that they had every opportunity, equal treatment, etc. as everyone else. You're willing to believe so much dumb shit, but you won't see the obvious ways we've systemically oppressed black people and caused generations of black kids to grow up without fathers because they're all in jail for behaving identically to white people. (i.e. using the same drugs at the same rate but being incarcerated at a disproportionatly higher rate for example). You believe that financial mechanisms exist that are fucking the American people, but you won't believe we've done the same to black people but worse and for longer, creating the circumstances in places like Baltimore, Ferguson, etc.
Perhaps if those with your views some hundreds of years ago hadn't decided to steal them from their homes and place them forever in your own country then you wouldn't be having this problem.

I think we should be doing everything in our power to help all humans, objectively and free from emotion. Kids occasionally need to get spanked. Instead of asking kids what the fuck they are doing charging around while the police are trying to restore some semblence of order to a chaotic situation, asking why the hell the kids aren't sitting the fuck down when asked to do so by a reasonable officer, asking why the hell they didn't leave when asked to do so by the security guard BEFORE the whole thing escalated to a police intervention, instead we are asking why they didn't put a pillow down before restraining someone, who by the way was subsequently released and sustained NO INJURY!

We do not condone bad actions with more bad actions. That is the path to a very bad place. There were 12 policemen on the scene. Only one policeman yelled profanities, one dragged a 14 year old girl down by her hair and one pulled his gun and aimed it at unarmed teenagers. All of these actions were performed by the same policeman.
11 policemen acted professional, controlled the situation and de-escalated the problem. One of the policement blew a gasket and acted very unprofessional and escalated a non-threatening situation. If we play the which of these things is not like the others game, it is very obvious what needs to happen to Officer Rambo.

And yet, out of those 11 "professional" policemen, not a one did anything to stop the out of control cop. They didn't tell him to calm down, they didn't tell him to go start the report in the car and let them handle it, and most importantly, they didn't report his misconduct.
Texas has a felony party rule. Assault on a minor is a felony. That means that under Texas law, all of the cops there are felons and guilty of the crime, because they came as a group and did nothing to stop him.

Should have stopped him way before then. If any of those officers were senior officers they should quietly but assertively told him to calm down long before that. I have done it in my profession and it sounds as if you have to. The only difference is these guys should have recognized that he was putting their livelihood if not their life on the line.

I had an great conversation on this very subject the other day with a black guy, in the Birmingham Jail. The same one MLK stayed in, actually. The car did not have any sign or anything saying it was a student driver, otherwise he may have given more space for her. There was no damage to the car whatsoever. Not even a scratch. And yes, I feel comfortable stating that as a fact, because I could tell this guy was telling the truth. He said the white cop was actually polite and understanding, but then a black cop showed up and sent the white one away....and put him in cuffs, and in jail.
Now there could be more to the story...but from my experience, and observation...? I doubt it. That's not the point. He and I sat there and had a great discussion about different things, race etc. We both agreed that what really matters, what determines whether an individual person is good or bad, is what they believe. Facebook friends and family – PLEASE HELP! That (now viral) video of the officer in McKinney subduing a girl in a bathing suit was in OUR neighborhood. The situation was NOT what is being reported…
A DJ setup in a public space next to the private pool in our neighborhood on Friday and played loud explicit (F-bomb) music for multiple hours (it is unclear if he was invited by a resident as no one has claimed responsibility). The teenagers (both black and white) were being brought into our neighborhood by the carload because the DJ was tweeting out invites to a “pool party” for $15 (obviously unauthorized by our neighborhood). The teens began fighting with each other and pushing their way into our private pool. Some were jumping our fence. The security guard was accosted when he tried to stop the beginnings of this mob scene. Some residents who live around the park/pool area tried to come out and settle things down. The teens started yelling racial slurs at our neighbors and started assaulting people and property (throwing bottles at cars and attacking a mother at the pool with 3 young children). The first officer on the scene was by himself. At that time, the party had grown to a large, aggressive crowd. As the officer arrived, many teens started running through our neighborhood. Many of the teens were being very aggressive and yelling at the officers as more arrived.
This was a very dangerous situation for the officers AND the teens/residents not involved. The news media has refused to hear the neighborhood’s side of this story. The video being distributed is only a very small segment of what happened. This information being distributed by the media and others is extremely distorted and in some cases outright lies.
PLEASE HELP US STOP THE BROADCASTING OF THIS IGNORANCE. The media is trying to make it look like our neighborhood is a white’s only, racist area. Anyone who has spent even a few minutes in our area knows this is an outright LIE.
The unfortunate result is that our neighbors are now being threatened. We have also had cars and property in and around the park area vandalized this weekend. Unfortunately, the press and social media are trying to enflame the situation.

I was handcuffed for drinking underage (under 21 years of age). I warmly thank the boomer voting majority for letting that happen btw.
