Caught On Tape: Cop Pulls Gun On 2 Kids, Unleashes Profanity-Laden Tirade In Affluent Suburb

I’ll be up front with you and say that this video is disturbing.
It’s like a bucket of ice-cold water thrown in the face of the dream world that most people are walking through.
Watching riots on TV in places like Baltimore and Ferguson, it’s easy to think, “That couldn’t happen here. All that police violence only happens in poor communities.”
Guess again.
This weekend it was the safe, quiet suburb of McKinney, Texas, about 30 minutes outside of Dallas.
McKinney is no gang-infested slum; it’s an affluent bedroom community with an average household income over $96,000 according to Colliers International.
(Having grown up just a few miles away, I would add that it’s pretty sterile too, full of big-box retailers, megaplex cinemas, and chain restaurants.)
Over the weekend some local kids were having a summer pool party to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
With that many adolescents crammed together in one place, there was undoubtedly some silly teenage drama going on. And police were called to the scene.
One of them starts off almost immediately screaming profanity-laden tirades at the kids, many as young as 14.
This courageous officer’s advice to young people included such gems as “Sit your asses down,” and “Don’t make me fuckin’ run around with 30 pounds of goddamn gear on. . .”
At one point throws a girl to the ground who had apparently failed to ‘get her ass out of here’ with appropriate alacrity.
You can see him grab her neck and attempt to shove her face into the pavement.
The kids all start screaming. Two of them rush over to try and help their classmate, at which point Captain America pulls his gun out and advances menacingly towards them.
They bolt. So he turns his attention back to the girl, grabs her head once again, and screams “ON YOUR FACE!!!” as he pins her down on the ground and puts her in handcuffs.
It’s really disturbing to watch.
Had it been a parent trying to grind his kid’s face into the pavement, Child Protective Services would have immediately removed the girl from the home and the father would be rotting in jail this very moment.
But when a police officer does it, he goes on ‘leave’. And only when he’s unlucky enough to be caught on camera.
If some random stranger grabbed your child and started attacking her, you’d instantly turn into Bruce Lee and put the guy in a Kung-Fu death grip.
But when a police officer attacks your child, the government expects you to just stand around and watch.
That’s one of the most disturbing things from the video.
You’ll see there are a bunch of adults in the video milling around with their hands in their pockets while the kids get abused.
I appreciate they’re doing whatever they feel like they can do to make the best of a bad situation.
But they’ve been indoctrinated for so long that their reaction is to be obedient and submissive. They don’t interfere with ‘the law’. They know their place and they act like it.
The kids, on the other hand, are all still young enough that they haven’t totally subordinated themselves to the state. There’s still a part of them that’s free.
So when the cops get totally out of control, their instinct is to fight back.
That is, after all, our natural instinct– to be free.
We have to -learn- to be intimidated and subservient to the state. We have to learn to stand around with our hands in our pockets while our children are abused. And that learning takes place in none other than the public school system.
I checked the McKinney Independent School District’s website and found that these kids all recite the Pledge of Allegiance in the morning, including that part about “liberty and justice for all.”
They sing songs gushing about freedom in America. But they just got a taste of how free they really are.
Hopefully that lesson stays with them. It’s certainly more powerful that an entire semester of the mandatory civics class they have to take.
After watching the video I actually downloaded a copy of the staple civics textbook Magruder’s American Government, and found a rather prescient passage in the first chapter:
“This nation was founded by those who loved liberty and prized it above all earthly possessions.”
True statement. But that instinctive flame to be free has gone out for so many people, not only in America but across the world.
And no nation can rise again until that flame is rekindled.
The textbook continues:
“To preserve and protect [their rights and liberty], each generation must learn and understand them anew, and be willing to stand up for them when necessary.”
Perhaps that time is finally coming.

What restraint, what calm in the face of desperate odds! I am SO glad he will now have weeks to months of paid time off with which to reflect on how much easier it is to accrue that generous pension when NOT in the line of duty. BTW, fuck the pigs.

I for one, think that a cop should make it personal and not act professionally. Dropping the F bomb in the neighborhood (ironically one of the reason people were upset with the youths and called the cops in the first place) and making the incident a personal sleight by 'making him run around with 30 lbs of gear' is always the best way to take control of a situation. In fact, this hero cop was so good that he jumped in when another officer was foolishly 'calmly talking' to people and pushed the criminal thug to the ground, for 'loitering' beside the police officer.
I can only think of one word to describe his actions. Heroic.

I used to envy these naive whites who grew up in rich neighborhoods full of 2 parent homes, cars in the drive way, and houses. Now I hate them. Hey I grew up in that neighborhood. The one black kid at my school was like a white kid. then at age 19 I moved to Baton Rouge. By age 20 I was able to discern that all of the prior crap I had been fed about race relations was just that. And that was 30 years ago.
Things have not gotten better and because of that I got the fuck out of there 9 years ago.
In my new home, the black people I see remind me of those I knew growing up. Normal, civilized, polite, and cordial just like my white and hispanic neighbors.

I live in McKinney and this one is not so clear cut. Yes, the cop is a psychopath (nice tactical roll) and unfit for duty. On the other hand, this was not a "public" pool. It is a private, HOA funded community pool. As I understand it, a large number of kids crashed the party which promoted a call to cops- would have happened whether black or white. The way the cop(s) handled it, however, was completely over the top and ridiculous. The fat deputized dads can fuck off too.

This video shows the result of what happens when bad apples are protected by their co-horts in law enforcement. They just get more and more violent. Instead of internally reporting the officer they just look the other way or even worse will protect them.

I'm not American, so I'm genuinely curious: do you have to obey "any" order given by the police? e.g. "Go across the street", "sit down here", etc. unless you are specifically placed under arrest? I can see many situations (say, a gun fight down the street where one of the shooters is now hiding) where the police WOULD tell people not to go somewhere, or to get out of somewhere, but do citizens HAVE to obey those orders, regardless of how sensible/insensitive those orders are?
I have always listened to cops, obeyed their commands, answered their questions, and showed them respect -- and I have had no trouble at all with them.
These situations are created when the suspects do not leave the area, do not obey the cops orders, and offer at least some kind of verbal or physical resistance.
Cops are given a LOT of latitude -- BY LAW -- when responding to an emergency call. You must obey their commands, or simply go limp and quiet and hope you dont get arrested as the suspect. Anything else creates these situations.

This potential for mass mob violence probably would or should lead to arrests for not obeying police instructions. I believe that much American law is based on what a 'reasonable' person would think or do. I only took a quarter of Police Science, and that was long ago. One police officer appeared to be getting close to crossing the 'reasonable' line. Certainly, he should be reprimanded for his obscenities and lack of professionalism. Not for taking a law breaker into custody. Furthermore, you make your case to the judge, not screaming in the face of someone dispatched to restore peace and prevent injury and damage.
Please keep in mind, a call was made to the police and the bikini girl disregarded a legal order and did indeed resist arrest. If I did exactly what the girl did, I would serve time in my state. Fortunately, where I live, police are friends and neighbors. I run into them all the time at the grocery store, hardware store, and sometimes even at the shooting range. I can't think of a one, that isn't strongly pro 1st and 2nd Amendment, and the entire Constitution, for that matter. I doubt if you'd be surprised if I was arrested several times in my youth. It could have been dozens if I hadn't followed police instructions exactly. I disagree with police changing their tactics. One officer was unprofessional to a degree. In very similar circumstances, he could very well be dead right now for allowing a group to rapidly approach him before he drew. They have changed their tactics in NYC and Baltimore and people are crying for more police intervention. Some groups and individuals cannot be reasoned with. Only force can stop them. This may not be the most appropriate time to ask, and it may not justify pulling a gun, but, were the kids trespassing? I've seen it happen at homeowners association pools and it is a really unpleasant situation. Kids crash a pool, swear and act rude to the member owners, don't leave when asked. Occassionally the crashers can be pretty threatening to the other people there.
That is what happened here. A group of "teens" mobbed a private HOA pool and were causing problems, then the police were called.

Get your facts straight. All kids (black encluded) were invited by kids who lived in the complex. It was a woman who also lived at the complex that did not enjoy being "bothered" with so many kids "sharing" her community pool with her which started this mess.
Please note that McKinney is rather afluent. The non-white kids come from rather well to do middle income families. Not your typical "tug" situation you would associate with other areas of the country. The white/black/hispanic/middle eastern/indian/etc... kids around here actually play well with one another. The problem for the police/city here is that odds are quite high that parents of the kids involved includes lawyers, judges, doctors, and other prominent members of the community. There is no way they will "take this shit" without a sacrificial lamb having to be payed in return.
