recently a relic from janus' & boston's past was revived to mind by some news story or the other. it was the dream of many to contrive a more 'tolerant' society by forcing certain populations together, irrespective of the damage to schools, communities and true racial harmony. the plan was to bus white kids in and black kids out, so that the perfection of 50/50 would absolve all the unnatural bigotries resultant from mankind's most malevolent habit of grouping amongst his own kind and kin.
prior to this scheme, janus enjoyed the privilege of attending a neighborhood school in metro nashville that was, with the exception of one 'african-american', all white. no one ever mistreated or in any way abused or insulted 'aletha', in fact, she was treated no differently than the rest of us; sure, she was dumb as a sack of hammers -- but none of us are lacking in flaws.
before continuing, i'd like to point out just how racist all you amoricans are. you think we southerners are stupid because of our aggregate test-scores -- and you consequently think iowa is a bastion for elevated IQs because of their idiomatic teaching method? phleeease....look, when some 40% of your population is 'african-american', it's gonna impact your aggregate test scores (guess in what manner). and if you look at the demographics in iowa, it will prove how racist you all are.

as i was saying, there was a time when janus, much like the rest of you bleating ninnies, understood african-americans through the prism of some single example of the race; in the same way that many of you who grew up in less integrated areas of the country think you know something about their culture owing to your token black-buddy...and wonder indignantly and volubly "why can't we all just get along?"...janus was likewise blissfully unaware that an entirely different mode of being existed within these people's concentrated populations. VERY different.
and so it was that this forced integration yielded a strange consequence. the kids almost subconsciously segregated themselves...we all ate at separate tables, hung out in clusters of our own, and since pupils were grouped according to performance, the classes themselves began to cleave along the binary lines of race. and, ironically, this forced integration produced a much fiercer racial vitriol within my generation. i was reminded of this when a local do-gooder asked if the attitudes had 'improved' in my generation...i was quick to respond that my generation is FAR more 'racist' than our parent's...and the social prohibition on this sentiment swells its pressure by the day.
but it's my suspicion that the thoughtful in this world assumed this would result.
nevertheless, i was pondering all this not long ago when picking up a fare at this very exclusive jewish day school ('day' school is the benign term employed in liberal boston in place of 'private' schools). janus was in every way impressed with this school and its student body. most seemed to be bright-eyed and enthusiastic young people, wandering their halls without fear that a chimp-out may spontaneously erupt. all were well-mannered and polite. everything was lovely...until, that is, janus inspected their 'art' exhibit.
the motif was 'diversity', and 'diversity' was illustrated expressly with the hues of variegated skin pigment. which is to say, 'diversity' and 'miscegeny' were concepts to in these young hebrew minds be conflated along with that of 'art' and 'propaganda'. i'm certain they were all enthusiastically congratulated on their noble-minded and impossibly original conception of 'diversty'...but i still thought it odd that the Cross of Christ was not included in these aesthetic renderings of all that is egalitarian. call me crazy, but i think the most important form of diversity is that of opinion; emphasizing diversity of class and/or race only serves to exacerbate those tensions.
then i made an additional observation. there wasn't any, not a single example, of this treasured 'diversity' found in the student body...all and every jews as far as i could tell. but i suppose it's for some reason 'moral' for jews to have jew-only schools, and southerners must be integrated...cause we're evil for wanting to be around our own, and they're for some reason not? okay, holacaust...whatevs...let's talk reconstruction, bitches.
and so it came to pass that janus picked up the headmaster of said school one blustery, blizzardly winter's eve in his yellow cab.
here's the thing, i go out of my way to find common-ground with my fellow man, and normally do all this is possible to avoid divisive subjects; but it just so happens that i'd made an oath to my muse which stipulated the following: if'n i'd ever crossed paths with that headmaster, i was going to make him an offer to provide his students with a dose of diversity they'll never forget.
janus proceeded to instruct this headmaster on the specificities of 'Art'; that while it is exceedingly difficult to define what it is, we can will all certainty say what it is not: specifically, Art is never propaganda, and vise versa. i then explained to him that opinion is a far preferable form of diversity, and that ideas are truly egalitarian in that they penetrate all the superficialities endemic of our subjective condition.
naturally, janus next offered to come and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to his assembled student body.
i've yet to hear back on my offer.
even so, i want to make a point with all this. one of the many differences distinguishing janus and the commies at harvard is that i don't want to destroy their idyllic little school...i don't want to pollute its halls with semi-feral and violent thugs...i don't feel i have any lessons to teach them...i'll go so far as to say that that school should remain exactly as it is. unless, that is, we can't all find some way to truly get along.
then there came to janus an idea of sorts. knowing that knowing needs the concretion of experience, otherwise it's but vapid abstraction, i reckon it's best if these diversity-mongers get what they want. after all, this civil-rights sword cuts both ways. i looked on a map, and was over-joyed to find that boston's most concentrated pockets of 'african-americans' were no more than 6 miles southward of these jewish schools. that's less than a quarter of the distance i was bused in nashville...and boy-oh-boy did i ever learn a lesson about 'diversity' -- a lesson i won't soon forget.
i have very little doubt that the do-gooders in these communities will passionately endorse my campaign to 50/50 integrate the well-to-do schools of jewish metro boston. ring dem bells! i also have this suspicion that the working-class irish here in boston, the ones who were uprooted from their irish communities and shipped across town to satisfy the do-gooder commies at harvard (who are now cops & aldermen and such), will remember & will join janus, the do-gooder jewish community and all of greater mattapan in planning this exercise in civic virtue. of this, i have no doubt.
okay, look, it's true that academic standards will deteriorate; they'll be cops stationed at every hallway; all forms of crime and vice will explode and graffitti will replace your art/propaganda...but you'll have one hell of a basketball team!

Janus, you are creative. I appreciate your posts. You have style. I do as well as well. I had an interesting Saturday afternoon. I ended up at a Russian wedding celebration. Nine different nationalties from all over the world and only one American which of course was me. I just sat and listened and at one point I went and bought some more beer for everyone. Eventually they asked me if I felt intimidated that I was the only Morican there. No I was not in the least and I was the only American invited. I told that I do not like most Moronicans and that I do wish to be associated with them. I would rather hang out with you guys. They knew Manipuflation was different. Manipuflation was not a self-righteous or self-important prick. I, Manipufaltion, apologized several times for Moricans behaviours. Many of them asked what I do for a living. Manipuflation replied: "Whatever it takes. I buy and sell things as fast I can after I fix them up but some things I keep the really nice stuff. I am very good at fixing things automotive/mechanical and I have the right tools."
I always have stuff for sale so some of these folks wanted to see what I had. I opened one of my garage doors and the jaws dropped. Yes, there is a lot of chrome and steel in there, original artwork hanging on the walls, tools. Banzai7 knows that I worked my ass off for that stuff and Manipuflation knows how fix things. People notice what I have and I am a decent guy. I have the top of the line code reader and I have backlog of people coming ask if I can fix their service engin light. Manipuflation can fix it for the right price. Or Manipuflation can tell what you need fix and how to do so for free. Some people ask why I would do that for free. People want to pay me and I won't charge to tell anyone what is wrong with their car; I will only charge to fix it. Manipuflation had three cars backed up while fixing on a chinee scooter tonight. People are coming to me for help and advice. Manipuflation must have a reputation. They see me wrenching and the word is spreading.
Manipuflation will now get into trouble somehow because it look like he is running a business out of one of his garage. Manipuflation has never accepted one cent for any work or service. Manipuflation is a good neighbor who like chatting with other neighbors and helping them. I am not sure if such transgressions are allowed in an apartment complex.
I would help anyone out if they ask me nicely. Manipuflation has a weakness. There can only be so many things wrong with a car/truck/semi/anything with an engine. I have a gift and I can bring mechanical things back to life just as well as I can bring plants to life.

as i sit watching the sun settle into his nest in the western horizon and consider the goings on in deutschland, it's clear that a question must be asked. it's a question of contrasts; one of fundamental differentiation: what separates janus from that motley lot of dunkaufs?
whence i reduce all things in the crucible of critical thought and cut through the clutter obscuring the essence of one element and the other, i cannot but explain the distinction in philosophical terms; insofar as ideologies, political parties, religonisms, humanisms and academic abstractions are the only available references to identify and define a given belief, identity, dogma or doctrine, janus will use none of them -- as the very intent of those institutions is to subvert critical thinking in the first place. the institutions which provide these references do so in order that the pliant mind may find a comfortable groove, and slide merrily along into its preformed contours -- so that the individual can know, without doubt, which side he/she is on. i have no sides, and am opposed to each and every available. i consider all their morals and dogmas to be arbitrary and relevant only to the pliant and herd-minded 'groovers' out there (the teeming masses of humanity). this world's doctrines are much like voo-doo; their power is proportional to the faith invested in them by the superstitious and credulous.
anyway, back the the signal difference betwixt janus and the masters of the universe. our masters insist that we 'tolerate' the worst and grimmest of all potential realities, a society premised on the notion that excellence elevates apathy; and that it is somehow 'moral' to shackle excellence to apathy in the assumption that this principal premise is incontrovertibly true -- even though all of history and the present tense testify to its falsity. i hold fast to the notion that excellence improves excellence -- that iron sharpeneth iron -- and that the dull will only and invariably dull the sharp with prolonged intercourse. that is to say, i reckon that we should instead endeavor to articulate a society that is intolerant of apathy and whose momentum is trending to that which is optimal instead of minimally acceptable.
but i do not define 'optimal' in terms of material utility...and this is one of the many points where the fascists and janus part ways.
to janus 'optimal' is a place in which laws are few, clearly (and sparsely) worded, the streets are safe, individual liberty and freedoms of speech, faith, movement, assembly, pursuit of happiness, etc. etc. are the salient virtues. sadly, it is my conclusion that such a place is only possible within a fairly homogenized society, with accomodative values inculcated in that population over time immemorial.
sure, it was a saccharine-sweet dream of the rainbow land. i'd love to sit around the campfire and sing cum-by-yah with each and all; but this is a world of volition, and some refuse to choose or adopt a basic and immanently fair world-view -- one that esteems the rights of others as equal to their own, rather than one in which some are more equal than others, because otherwise 'things' just wouldn't be 'fair'.
it is unfortunate that racial/socio-economic agitators have been so immensely successful in this country; but a greater misfortune lies in the credulous masses that have swallowed their doggerel hook, line & sinker. instead of understanding that our ethics of hard-work, industry, initiative and 'do-unto-others' is the formula for societal success, the untermensch have been sold a doxology of demons -- that 'we', simply because of our success, are manipulators, racists, despoilers, etc. fuck it...too late now.
i suppose it won't be long now...won't be long till amorica gets to hear the tapes of MLK indulging in his most favorite vice. y'all thought that shit about bill cosby was bad? sheeeaaat! just you wait till you hear the reverend beat the life out of some young & desperate women of the night and then subject them to the most stomach-churning of rapes. think these tapes don't exist? i think you'll all be very surprised. i've even heard there are some videos out there 'somewhere'.
it should also be noted that the 'west', as it's currently conceived, is being characterized as the 'bad guy' (and this characterization is warranted, in that we're doing a lot of bad shit), and the 'east' are the good guys. understanding this, is it not interesting that russia/china/et. al. are strictly homogeneous societies? if you're paying attention to the narrative, it should interest you greatly...the world's mind is being systematically migrated to a different understanding of 'things'.
but, hell, janus must be the 'bad-guy'...just a racist redneck and whatnot. maybe, but maybe he's speaking from experience...maybe he should relate a story from his past to lend this thinking some texture and substance.

I love that Entitelist hat. Since I work at a golf course I might need one of those. That would go along with all of my smart ass t-shirts that people assume says what they think it does until they look more closely and then they realize that I got them and then we have a good laugh. One of my favorite t-shirts is my John Doe t-shirt from Despair.com. It has a logo and is printed exactly like John Deere's logo except that instead of a jumping deer is it has an outline of how the cops would outline a dead body with tape back in the day. It says JOHN DOE and not JOHN DEERE but people do not notice that right away and you get comments like 'Yeah, right on! John Deere rocks!" No, actually I don't much like them because I used to work for them. I don't hate them or anything but they do some pretty suspicious bullshit behind the scenes that they want no one to know about. They are big on their brand image and it works because almost no one notices that I am wearing a John Doe shirt and not a John Deere shirt. Every once in a while someone will catch it but most people don't. People do not pay attettention to details.
As for my ZH ballcap. No one to date has ever caught what it means and I wear it all over the place.
