White House Admits Economies Of European Allies Crippled By Russian Sanctions

Tyler Durden's picture

Just over a year ago when the Obama administration first introduced the vague, scary-sounding, all encompassing concept of "costs" when it explained how US sanctions would cripple the Russian economy, we mocked this latest bout of amateurism by the US State Department, noting that ig anything it would instead crush Europe's dominant, and far more intertwined with the Russian economy, powers such as Germany.

A few months later, Europe was on the verge of a deflationary bust and triple dip recession, and only the launch of €E has allowed the continent to kick the can for a few months before the crippling economic reality comes back with a vengeance. Incidentally, some skeptics (such as this website) wondered in late 2014 whether the Russian sanctions weren't precisely what Mario Draghi ordered: without the collapse in the German economy in the second half of 2014, the ECB surely would not have been allowed to proceed with its current courtesy of debt monetization.

But more importantly, overnight it was none other than the White House itself which finally admitted that the entire brilliant idea of collapsing the Russian economy by way of sanctions across the western world, ended up hurting European nations (i.e., US partners) who had no choice but to "sacrifice their own economies."

This is what Josh Earnest, White House press secretary, said yesterday.

"The commitment required by our European partners to implement and maintain these sanctions is significant. They have economies that are more integrated with Russia than the United States has, and so we recognize that many of the countries that we’re counting on to continue to enforce these sanctions are countries who do so at some sacrifice to their own economy."

In other words, the Russian sanctions will continue until every European country taps out.

And just to make sure Europe is crushed by the relentless juggernaut of John Kerry's diplomatic skillset, earlier today Obama said he'd convinced European leaders to maintain economic sanctions on Russia, "even as U.S. officials concede the measures have done little to curb aggression by separatists in Eastern Ukraine" according to a CNN report.

It doesnt end there, because Obama, ever generous with crushing the economies of America's partners, will gladly continue until the bitter end... for said partners.

Obama said Europe and the United States stand ready to impose new sanctions if violence increases.

"Ultimately, this is going to be an issue for Mr. Putin," Obama said. "He's got to make a decision: Does he continue to wreck his country's economy and continue Russia's isolation in pursuit of a wrong-headed desire to recreate the glories of the Soviet empire? Or does he recognize that Russia's greatness does not depend on violating the territorial integrity and sovereignty of other countries?"

So when the impact of the current iteration of European QE fades to nothing, at least we now know precisely how the status quo will enable round two: boost Russian sanctions so aggressively that Europe skips the triple-dip recession and goes straight into depression.

Well since policy of any kind is foreign to President Zippy and his sidekick Ketchup-Boy, I imagine that things will turn out just swimmingly for the EU. The first problem is the EU leaders are just as clue free. The second problem is Putin came up through the KGB which were damned serious about playing. There are many ways for it to play out, I just wish our leadership would quit picking the worst one......

All I can do is HAHAHAHAHA.

Putin was right, back in Apr 2014, and all the facts since have proven that he indeed was.

“The US is certainly one of the world’s leaders. At some point it seemed that it was the only leader and a uni-polar system was in place. Today it appears that is not the case. Everything in the world is interdependent and once you try to punish someone, in the end you will cut off your nose to spite your face,” he said.

Obama has lost every single action against Putin as well as Syria or even the smallest country in the world...no wonder he does not step much out of US for diplomacy until it is in the cocoon of his sadistic G7 partners in crime ....and now in order to create his legacy, Obama will strike a deal with Iran.....which is great for peace but sadly will change status quo in the region and make Middle East much more destabilised than it has ever been.

Hope and Change was the worst slogan ever created. The world is a worse place than in 2008 when Obama inherited it.

Are the G-7 leaders around the table in Germany (the anti-Putins) the real leaders of the world or even their own nations? No, says a political analyst from New York City, Caleb Maupin. They are “hired actors” and the real G-7 decisions are made by the “leaders of high finance in New York and London,” i.e., the international bankers.

The interview is on Russia Today but its’ incredible thrust shows no bias, only the frightening truth:

Leaders of high finance make real decisions; G7 'hired actors'

June 8, 2015 by Caleb Maupin

Germany and other European countries are forced to work against their own interests in order to help big American and British corporations and rich, powerful forces to lay down the law, claims Caleb Maupin, journalist and political analyst.

RT: So we’ve been hearing then, that some Western powers want even tougher sanctions against Russia, do you think that’s likely?

Caleb Maupin: It is very likely. The Wall Street bankers are determined to drive Russia out of the world economy. As Russia emerges as a stronger power in the field of natural gas and oil, it’s a threat to the global hegemony of the big bankers on Wall Street and in London and they very much want to keep control of the global markets; they are threatened by Russia emerging as a power in the international markets and they’re doing everything they can to suppress it. I don’t think the reason Russia was excluded has anything to do with Ukraine. I think it’s about continuing to put pressure on Russia, continuing to isolate Russia.

Let’s remember that the entire Ukraine crisis was manufactured by the US, it was efforts from the US that led to the overthrow of the democratically elected President Yanukovich and the current government in Kiev coming to power. That was all done by the US, so why is Russia being punished for something that was carried out by the US?

RT: How much power and influence does the G7 actually have right now, there’s the G20, there’s the emerging economies with the BRICS countries as well. Is the G7 at this moment in time actually that powerful?

CM: Well, we all know that the real decisions are not made in these meetings that are taking place. The real decisions are made in meetings with the leaders of high finance, the big bankers. They’re the ones that make the decisions. The figures that are having the meeting right now, these are simply hired actors; hired by the big corporations and the rich and powerful forces in the United States and Britain to kind of lay down the law. And what’s very interesting is that Germany and many other countries throughout Europe are basically being forced to work against their own interests in order to help the United States. These sanctions on Russia are benefiting the United States; they’re benefiting Britain. But they’re not to the benefit of Germany, they’re not to the benefit of Poland, they’re not to the benefit of many countries throughout Europe, but these countries are basically being forced to go along with something in order to strengthen the United States and Britain.

RT: European Council President Donald Tusk mentioned so-called "community of values” and says that is why Russia has been excluded from the G7 which used to be the G8. What was he referring to there?

CM: It’s just a lot of rhetoric, because if there were any values in the leaders of the G7 they would immediately condemned the Kiev junta for what it is currently doing to the people in east Ukraine: people are being bombed, innocent civilians have been killed, there have been blockades, people are suffering in east Ukraine and dying. Why is there no condemnation of the crimes being carried out by the Kiev regime, the unelected regime that was forced on the people of the Ukraine by efforts of the US? There is no moral condemnation for their crimes, only a lot of propaganda for Russia. And it is still need to be proven that Russia is even involved in Ukraine. I haven’t seen the proof, no proof has surfaced, and they seem to continue to tolerate the crimes of the Ukrainian government. This moral hypocrisy is just astounding.

RT: So why is Europe, or why are European countries, or certainly some of them doing that…if it goes against their interests, as you describe it?

CM: Because they have very much become forced to be obedient servants of the United States. If you look at many of these countries – Germany, Poland – they have US military bases in their countries. Their economies are under the control of the United States and even though it’s hurting their own interests they’re basically being forced to go along with the US. And we’ve seen many revelations, in Germany and elsewhere, that there are many high-ranking government officials who are tired of this. They’re tired of the fact that they have this relationship with the United States that simply doesn’t seem to be to the benefit of their people. They’re not really gaining anything from their relationship with the United States. The United States and Britain are really the only people that are really gaining from it, and it’s not the people of the United States that are gaining. There’s foreclosed homes all throughout the Midwest of the United States. The economy in the US, they say there’s a recovery, but it’s very bad. The working people of the United States, the working people of Britain are suffering right now. The only people who are benefiting from this campaign of Russophobia and hatred, hatred for Russia; the only people who are benefiting are a small group of wealthy bankers.

"they have US military bases in their countries. Their economies are under the control of the United States"

I dont understand either of these statements. The military bases could be overrrun in an afternoon whout firing a shot - Germans given the word would export the US Military to the border. The US would never fire a shot.

as to control of the economy - what?

the German industrialists are made up of largely Engineers not marketing or finance guys like in the USA - they are serious people from my personal experience - they built their respective businesses on their own back and that of their people not wall street - the export machine isnt controlled by Bankers - the world over german products are bought for their qualitative "integrity" NOT politics or you buy this weapon as in the USA - in many cases they are more expensive than the competition - who would buy an american manufacturing system?

The Germans will revolt sooner or later - they know the USA is a psycho drama waiting to explode in their face - they will bolt

Merkel is not and never will the German Leader !

The Germans are owned.

You cannot question the holohoax without committing a felony.  And they will prosecute.

The Germans gave Israel subs for FREE.  Yep, Free.

The Germans spit upon their bravest who gave their lives for their country in WW2.  The Germans cannot even debate the roll of the jews between WW1 and WW2.  The Germans never shout about their brave soldiers who surrendered, gave up their arms and then were shot in cold blood by the allies (US).  The Germans never mention the brave soldiers who were marched into Russia and starved while being worked to death.  The Germans cannot even find it within themselves to talk about the mass rape of their women.  Nor can the Germans find the guts to bring up how the Russians committed mass torture and murder of their women prior to the end of the war.  A woman from Brazil (I think) wrote one first hand account - it is horrible what she saw done.

Why would any German man risk fighting for his country considering how the German people have spat upon those who did so in the past?  They are a broken people, who are industrious and hard working.  But slaves to the jmafia.

Has Germany ever asked for war crime tribunals against the torture of "defendents" during the kangaroo court trails after the war?  NO.

Germany was the major investor in Russia pre-1914 until war destroyed that. 1919-1933 Russia worked closely with Germany with secret factories in the USSR until the deals were stopped by Adolf Hitler put there by Anglo-Saxon finance as an anti-Soviet bulwark. Now Germany has integrated again with Russia and the prospect of Germany plus Russian raw materials and markets dominatng Eurasia is too big a threat to Oceania in the form of UK and US.

As Goldstein wrote in Orwell's 1984 "The Theory and Practice of Oligarchical Collectivism" it was the similarities of oligarchical regime that divided them

I thought it was just Bush tard-Cheney who figured their lies and misdirections wouldn't catch up to them for 10 or 15 years. Then I heard that the Obama administration was so tech-savvy and filled with clever young people. Unprecedented transparency, we were told. And then he prosecuted whistleblowers with the intensity of the Politburo, was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize, and continued the middle east wars for israel where his predecessor left off. It's hard to argue that he doesn't hate AmeriKa and white people very deeply.

Maybe they forgot too that more than a few people have something called the internet and easily can figure out their hypocritical bullshit a few minutes later.

vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their President."

'But for a king dethroned in the bosom of a revolution, which is as yet cemented only by laws; a king whose name attracts the scourge of war upon a troubled nation; neither prison, nor exile can render his existence inconsequential to public happiness; this cruel exception to the ordinary laws avowed by justice can be imputed only to the nature of his crimes. With regret I pronounce this fatal truth: Louis must die so that the nation may live.'

A new saying joins the legions of old ones:

A stitch in time saves nine.

A penny saved is a penny earned.

And now

If I owe the bank $32,500, it's my problem

If I owe the bank $325 billion, its the bank's problem.

So the Greeks grexit the euro and are left with a worthless drachma to buy the necessities of life, e.g.food, oil, that stuff.

Enter RUSSIA AND CHINA reading a check book

Russia:

What say you Marley? Shall we step in here with our shekels overflowing like Noodleman's spare tire and rescue the good people of Greece from the usury and bondage of the bitches of the Northern European Lowlands?

China

Aye Scrooge.  We will give Greece a line of credit to slowly pay down their EU debt and end the despised austerity, and with the rents we shall pay for the naval bases and airfields from the Aegean to the Ionian Seas, the folk in East Hampton will be dying to relocate there.

We will be loved by the people of Greece for ending their austerity, Scrooge, and hated by the German bankers for exposing their scam.  Might they come after us?

Russia

No prob Jake, we'll just change our monikers like the dodos at ZH do.

And the sooner the people in EU are in real hard depression, the sooner they will start kicking back, I assure you. We are waking up, but too slowly, we need another hard kick from the USA to wake up more.

There are up and coming nationalist and populist political leaders in various European countries, whose fortunes could improve greatly, if Europe's cuurent leadership continue to sacrifice their own economies. In France and Italy they come from the right. In Germany and Spain they come from the left. I can't imagine voters in these countries would support candidates who openly support sanctions over economic progress.

One can assume that sanctions on the Russian Federation are supported in whole by the War Planning Dept. USARMY. This makes the top down decision making of central bankers to be guided by anything other than the overall economy apart from a strategic point in the architecture of a contemporary war theater that is controlled by multinationals that are USA based.
