House Kills Fast-Track Of Obamatrade After Pelosi-Led Democrat Rebellion
And just like that, President Obama's fast track of his "great job creation" bill is defeated in a 126-302 procedural vote which stumbled over what is known as the Trade Adjustment Assistance.
Following Pelosi's comments that "its defeat is the only way we will be able to slow down fast track," and "people would rather have a job than assistance", the defeat of a measure to provide aid to workers displaced by trade deals means the fast-tracking of the TPP is done (for now).

And with a whopping 302 votes against, House democrats just stunned the democrat president by ending the "fast-track" of the TPP and forcing it back to the drawing room table. As the NYT puts it:
House Democrats rebuffed a dramatic personal appeal from President Obama on Friday, torpedoing his ambitious push to expand his trade negotiating power — and, quite likely, his chance to secure a legacy-defining trade accord spanning the Pacific Ocean.
Of course this can all go back for another markup and another amendment but for now. TPP needs the passage of the TAA to send the bill back to Obama for his signature, which means we are back to square one.
In a remarkable rejection of a president they have resolutely backed, House Democrats voted to kill assistance to workers displaced by global trade, a program their party created and has stood by for four decades. By doing so, they brought down legislation granting the president trade promotion authority — the power to negotiate trade deals that cannot be amended or filibustered by Congress — before it could even come to a final vote.
“We want a better deal for America’s workers,” said Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, the House minority leader who has guided the president’s agenda for two terms and was personally lobbied by Mr. Obama until the last minute.
Republican leaders tried to muster support from their own party for trade adjustment assistance, a program they have long derided as an ineffective waste of money and sop to organized labor. But not enough Republicans were willing to save the program.
Republican leaders could still try to pass a stand-alone trade promotion bill, but that would force the Senate to take up a trade bill all over again. And without trade adjustment assistance alongside it, passing trade promotion authority in the Senate would be highly doubtful.
The vote was an extraordinary blow to Mr. Obama, who went to the Capitol on Friday morning to plead personally with Democrats to “play it straight” — to oppose trade promotion if they must but not to kill trade assistance, a move he cast as cynical. On Thursday night, he had made an unscheduled trip to the annual congressional baseball game to try to persuade Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, the minority leader.
And, as expected, shortly after the failure to pass TAA the House passed the TPA...

Hilary (et al) could have an uphill battle once the effects of the TTP were fully exposed. Thus Obozo's legacy takes a direct hit and backseat. There will be some considerable revolutionary talk around the next election after the economic SHTF by the end of this year, and no one will be able to predict the outcome. There may well be a serious 3rd party attempt that could have both the d's and r's running scared.

Currently, the "country of origin labeling" has been voted down in congress, thanks to legal action taken by Mexico and Canada at the WTO.
Recalls to mind how a President BIll Clinton, in adhering to the charter of the WTO, caused the Department of Justice to go to court to overturn or interdict the boycott of the tuna industry in America (certain companies were causing dolphins to be slaughtered en masse with their fishing practices).
TPP doesn't allow countries to sue multinational corporations, but does promote legal action against sovereign governments by multinational corporations, of course!
In some of the other participating countries in the TPP, human trafficking is legal --- which means jobs offshored to Malaysia or (North) Korea will involve slave labor; not improving those poor people's lives, but greatly improving the profit margins of said multinationals involved!
Certain moral relativists within the Gay Community are lobbying for pressure to be put on those countries and their anti-gay laws, while conveniently, and amorally, ignoring the slave labor aspects!
In America, faux corporatemedia newsies routinely falsely claim that more and more foreign visa scab or replacement workers must be brought to this country as there aren't enough: doctors, lawyers, scientists, engineers, programmers, technicians, janitors, bridge construction workers, etc., etc., etc. --- yet each and every time those foreign visa scab workers replace already existing employees on those jobs --- so obviously they, the American workers, already exist!
Just recently at Disney World, they replaced their IT people with IT people from India, threatening the American workers with loss of job references and severance pay were they to refuse training their replacements from India.
This happens at least every other month, whether covered in the news or not!

What Obama and his handlers are attempting to do is evade that 2/3 requirement of the Constitution

It's technical, a process problem. In order for TPA to move forward, the House would have had to approve both TAA and TPA. This made the 2nd vote more of a political statement.
This is far from over but it's not likely that the GOP will have its heart in going through this again. This has the same feel of the 2006 "Army of Davids" grassroots victory that stymied the McCain/Kennedy/Bush amnesty bill for years. That gave rise to the Tea Party later.
The GOP came off very bad in both instances. In 2006, the went on to get crushed in the off-year elections and when they nominated the very leader of the amnesty bill McCain (aka "the only guy who can beat Hillary!"), the GOP got crushed again in 2008 and 2012. The Tea Party delivered grassroots gains for the GOP in 2010 and 2014 which were completely wasted. Let's see what happens this time where it was actually the Dems led by Pelosi who saved the day.... for now.
