Macedonia Central Bank Blocks Greek Bank Withdrawals "In Case Of Grexit"

Tyler Durden's picture

The bank runs (and capital controls) begin. Macedonia Central Bank Governor Bogov states:

  • *GREEK BANKS IN MACEDONIA CAN’T WITHDRAW CASH: BOGOV
  • *MACEDONIAN BANKS PROTECTED IN CASE OF GREXIT: BOGOV

How long before the rest of Europe follows suit and a bank holiday is declared Monday to "Cyprus" depositors?

He further added:

  • *MACEDONIAN CENTRAL BANK SEES MAJOR RISKS FROM POLITICAL CRISIS

Just to be clear, this withdrawal halt is protection against a worst case scenario... BUT, by imposing capital controls you are ASSURING a worst case scenario occurs!!

If Greek banks have money elsewhere they must have been blind to what is coming.

The strategy the Macedonians are using is similar to the coolant-pond design at Fukushima.  All will be contained, rest assured.

Anyone with money left in any Greek bank (wherever located) should just write it off now.

You had plenty of warning; if you didn't get it out by now; you're just too late...

Anyone who trusts any bank more than is essential to get by in life (e to pay for utilities that won't accept payment in cash etc) is taking a reckless risk.

Gone are the days that you could pay your electriciy bill in cash at your local electricity board showrooms - they were all sold (looted).

Wolferl is right that greece should leave -never should have joined- and that greece is in many ways 3rd world, but he's in for a surprise if he thinks he'll get to keep a piece of greece in the process. Greeks generally like Canadians and look what happened to Eldorado Gold. Good luck with that port, railroad etc. not to mention an island lol.....

It's Europe's "worthless" nations that Germany continues to finance so that they can keep buying Germany's expensive exports.  In the end it will be Germany holding the bag & in the same shithole with the "worthless" nations.  Isn't that ironic?

What are you talking about?

Porsche Greece has literally zero cars in inventory.

http://www.porsche.com/international/_greece_/approvedused/

This is a great example of why the "Germany needs the EUR to export" meme is ridiculous.

Bet you any money with the Drachma, they would be selling more Porsches than they are now, which according to Porsche financials amounted to less than 30 last year.  FOR. THE. ENTIRE. COUNTRY.

It´s a simple historic fact that we owned the lot between 1941 and 1944. What is your problem?

And it´s juristic fact that almost all of the Greek debt is under English law and there´s no legal or factual way for the Greeks to default on that if the Eoro countries, the ECB or the IMF don´t agree with that.

Seems you have a problem with reality.

Germany owns it again, which is just stupid.

Sometime I wonder how the world would have turned out if Hitler had been content with Austria/Hungary & the Sudetenland?

Nazis were all about having lots of kids, so German population right now would be like 150-200 million and be arguably the strongest nation on the planet.

Why so many rulers over time (Hiter, Stalin, Napoleon, the Royal Family, Bilderbergers et. al) are so obsessed with ruling the world?  Why rule piece of shit countries which is nothing but a drain on resources when you can rule bad ass countries instead?  I just do not understand it at all.

All stupid.  Next time someone decides to unite Northern Europe -- I seriously hope they are content with Northern Europe and don't fucking go after the whole world again.  It brings nothing but destruction.

I usually agree with you on most things regarding the EU and the Euro. But this time it's more brown jiberish I hear. A country's success depends on its institutions. (Not talking of Troika institutions). Greece and other 'failed' countries fail because their institutions fail them, (corruption, government waste, red tape and what not). This has nothing to do with northern Europe being superior, they just managed to create better working institutions, which as we speak are being eroded by the undemocratic European Union. Same is true for the US by the way. Used to be the first truly democratic Nation, most people here know what's left of it. The more inclusive political decision making is the better off countries are.

Haus, Adolph had a lack of natural resources, oil for instance. The banksters would have busted his balls like they did with Imperial Japan. Adolph f'd up with the Jews, Jews, Jews vs. The Master Race race war thing. He should have stayed focused on or rather turned on The Banksters that first looted his country, then financed his rise. In the end, he wasn't so masterful after all and the Germans, while capable seem easily duped.

Wolferl, Greece is an awesome country, had many fun times there. The people dont trust their government, there is a tangible history of foreign meddling, Nazi scum included. Greece was an advanced civilization when your ancestors were running around in the woods with axes, so try to be grateful for the civilization you have now and appreciate where it came from.

I don't know why people always make the assumption that people living in a country today are the descendants of people living there 3000 years ago. Ever heard of population migrations? That continent was on the move even for as short a period as a few hundred years. To top it off, the ancient Greek had about a ratio of citizens to slaves of 1:5, so even if they all stayed put, their genetic pool would mostly be from the slaves now. Who, whatever you want to make of that, had no share in coming up with ancient Greek culture.

Bogov is only trying to save his grace (and head). Way too late. I convinced my parents to swap Alpha Bank with Mattress Bank already in 2011.

People in Macedonia were lied to by banksters and expertutes that claimed Greek banks in Macedonia aren't actually Greek because they are registered as macedonian companies that operate under macedonian jurisdiction.

That narative worked well until the latest Greek crisis tantrums began, when a few well-informed vigilant macedonians confronted Bogov and started ringing their compatriots' alarm bells.

For a long time, it had been looking as if the US was being set-up as the evil bully boy, who the world would unite against.

As of today, it looks to me as if the EU (through its proxy Germany) is shaping up nicely as the evil of the world. The US is only its lapdog muscle.

Come on Schaeubel threaten some more. Show us your inner Nazi.
