10:40 EST. Things seem to be "slipping" a bit out there. Hurry up and buy! Such a deal!
The problem for shorts is I've never seen a big red open continue down through lunch without volatility (VIX, VXN, etc.) higher than opening levels, and we've seen BIG roll-overs in those measures, except for the NASDAQ's, which held up near highs, but is now peeling back a bit.
Charts and trading is starting to feel like 2007...directionless and weary market is yeilding some lovely volatility...still seems this will resolve down in the long term as the reluctance to go too long for too long is starting to show, but I think we are entering that phase where if you buy dips and sell rips, you may have a few months to really make some bank. RUT seems to be working really hard at making a double top...since it is the most overvalued it may start to lag a bit if it gets there as the other indices get the juice into double top territory as well. I am starting to think the blowoff scenario is just not going to playout...a double top type scenario in all the indices seems a bit more likely given the vast majority of traders, even bulls are well aware of the how bubbles end at this point and with the lack of liquidity as well as a shortage of uniformed cash rich retail, likely a lot of big money ready to off load on strength. The strattle strategy is working very well but I am selling each rip on one side or the other, cannot be greedy at all, just sell and regroup/wait... This market is ADD...amongst other things.
Last weeks rally a farse as usual.
TBTF's need to keep markets at around 18k, 2.1k, 5k just to stay even. We will see what happens.
