"The System Is Broken": Americans No Longer Believe In Its Institutions
Submitted by Mac Slavo via SHTFPlan.com,
It’s not difficult to see that the foundation is crumbling…
A new Gallup poll has found that already low “confidence” in our system of government, our economy, the media, banking, big business, religious institutions and watchdogs is further eroding.
“Americans’ confidence in most major U.S. institutions remains below the historical average for each one,” a Gallup spokesman said in a news release.
[…]
All in all, it’s a picture of a nation discouraged about its present and worried about its future, and highly doubtful that its institutions can pull America out of its trough.
There is plenty of good reason, with evidence uncovered daily, weekly and consistently throughout the years of the hypocrisy and failures of government, the failed promises of politicians, the lies and spin of the mainstream media and newspapers, the greed and exploitation of the financial sector and the “just us” mentality of above-the-law enforcers who are supposed to uphold justice.
Just check out how little faith remains in the structure of, well, just about any institution in America, by the numbers:
Only 8 percent have confidence in Congress, down by 16 points from a long-term average of 24 percent – the lowest of all institutions rated.
33 percent have confidence in the presidency, a drop from a historical average of 43 percent.
32 percent have confidence in the Supreme Court, down from 44.
28 percent have confidence in banks, down from 40 percent.
21 percent have confidence in big business, down from 24 percent.
24 percent have confidence in organized labor, down from 26.
24 percent have confidence in newspapers, down from 32 percent.
21 percent have confidence in television news, down from 30 percent.
52 percent of Americans […] are confident in the police [57 percent historically]
What else can be said, but that the system is broken?
Obviously it bears little resemblance to the one envisioned by the founding fathers and their emphasis on separation of powers and limited government.
None of the three branches of government are trusted by even close to a majority of the American populace… maybe that’s to be expected, with frequent media criticisms of political figures in a polarizing two party system.
But other pillars of society have lost their backing of the public, too – in astonishing numbers that show not only that the American dream is dead, but that private institutions are widely perceived as being just as corrupt as public ones (or worse).
To top it off – this perception is entirely deserved. The aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis consolidated the power and wealth of the big banks, and gave the Federal Reserve ultimate power over the economy, while average Americans suffered greatly.
Scandal after scandal revealed that corruption for what it is.
Media scandals – such as Brian Williams’ fabricated war zone stories and George Stephanopoulos’ attempt to conceal his conflicts of interest with the Clinton Foundation – have left a bad taste in the mouth of media consumers already facing fake news indigestion.
The factors are piling up beyond our capacity to excuse them away: fatigue from endless wars and threats of terrorism; cynically-false promises of hope and change; the repeated, brazen trampling of civil rights; a sharp decline of opportunity at the hands of economic recession; trade deals written in secret to enrich corporations; the rise of job-crushing technology and more have all sapped at the American spirit.
Whether most Americans follow these developments or not, they instinctually sense them. No one trustworthy is steering this ship – worse, no one may be at the wheel at all.
Who or what can turn things around?
That remains to be seen, but few will be willing to buy into the system if it remains on course.
The loss of confidence in the system ultimately relates to the loss of confidence in the freedom of the individual.
It is strong-willed and determined people who have always made this country, and any other, strong and vibrant.
The constant detriment of individual rights and the endless calls to transfer power to the collective – whether inside or outside of government – is the real source of the problem that this Gallup poll reflects.
Our best hope at a better world should start there. Is it still possible?

This System was never Fixed and so how can it be broken?
The actual problem with America is not the 1%...it is the 52% that believe in police, the 8% who believe in congress and the astounding 33% who believe in whatever we call a president now. The elite are not the actual enemy - these high percentages are.
World War 3 will save the system.
War is not the answer... >>>> https://youtu.be/5WIRdsdx-AA
Why take a bullet for some corrupt lawyers, bankers, & politicks? (Blood suckers & all)
This judge laid it down like a G6!!! >>> https://youtu.be/wCGHPuuo894
Or as Jesus simply put it... "A house divided against itself cannot stand."
Jesus was talking about the impossibility of Satan working against his own designs. That is NOT what's going on here. The "house" is not working against itself, it's working almost flawlessly for itself, to the detriment of everyone else (you and me).
Apologies for even arguing about Bible verse interpretations (I would almost never do that here on ZH since this is clearly not a religiously-oriented site), but one that glaringly off track has to be put back in proper frame.
The public's lack of confidence in its institutions does not necessarily mean that they want to change them. It is only an acknowledgement that the systems are completely corrupt, but the fact that a significant portion of people are dependent on that corruption tells me it's not likely to change until its inherent inefficiencies collapse it upon us. There are still profits to be made requiring no labor, plenty of muppets left to shear.
i grew up during vietnam, nixon, the draft, everyone on drugs, and today is a reaganesque dream compared to then.

They don't believe in its institutions but each one knows what it takes to fix them.
"They're not doing it right and I know how to fix it" said Ima Moron, a typical American voter.
Americans have never had confidence in the system. It's our lack of confidence which saves us. We vote our pocketbooks.
The institutions have become corrupt and predatory.
The government is under globalist financial oligarch occupaton.
They are destroying the middle class to prep for iron fisted ZWO rule.
The people are being used until they're used up.
Nearly every decision made and every agenda of the politico puppet class are bad for America and Americans.
"In light of the profusion of new information and accurate data, which categorically proves that the markets are forever rigged, people the world over are losing all confidence in the present system."
MATHEMATICAL CERTAINTY of a Terminal Breakdown of the Global Economic & Financial SystemFun fact up tick from me; but what do ya mean "become corrupt and predatory" they were that way from the beginning.
it is the money system. fiat in one word. i could go on but why. zhers understand.
fiat has created huge excess consumption which in turn is exhausting the eco systems worldwide with the biggest violator merica. suburbans, mansions are common and consume the resources for exceptional humans. to try and agree on a policy of sustainabilityis hopeless as we cant even formulate a two party system that represents the majority. doom gloom and bust and i'm being positive, ha, gotta laugh and enjoy the day cause ya cant fix what 7.3 billion humans are going to do today. edging ever closer to famine, wars and self destruction...
~"i(I)t is the money system."~
Absolutely correct. The pooch has been screwed since 1913 with the implementation of the income tax and the ascension of the Federal reserve. The goose was cooked even before most of us were even born. What's the current piece of sarcasm that's popular these days?
"Oh, this ought to end well."
"We vote our pocketbooks."
This is a huge part of the problem. In the name of "business", we have allowed corporations huge violations of our personal space that we would be horrified at if government did them. I will never forget the first time I heard "this call may be monitored or recorded to provide...". We now (of course) find out that the government monitors and records our calls as well, but when large businesses did it, not even a peep. We lost our rights because we trusted business WAY more than we ever should have.

I dream of all the calls I've missed.

I grew up in the 70's and there were problems but 2 things that were better were that FAMILY came first and now it's simply a joke and people and institutions were less greedy. Take those days over this shit anytime. The business "news" lasted 30 seconds on the news, now it's all about your wealth. Pathetic
I liked the church - until pederasts were shown to run it - I liked the military - until we killed and maimed the poor in the most hopeless places on earth - I like the congress - until they declared war on our economy and nation and made us all think DC was run by the enemies of America. I like to vote until diebold found a machine that votes for me- I like hollywood and TV until they mocked my faith and my life and opened sewers that debase the good in man. I trusted banks until they stole my savings and made the elite of finance lords of us all. I trusted police and judges until they took the blindness of justice and made justice a whore.
Money leads to greed. Greed fulfilled feeds the ego and leads to arrogance. Arrogance makes us deaf to the needs of the world and others. We think that we have the right and others have none.
The right to life
The right to liberty
The right to the pursuit of happiness
The leaders of this world are not shepherds, they are vipers whose only thought of charity comes with enslavement and a tax break (I wonder why). That is not charity. There is no thought of self-sacrifice for the good of all. We are flawed and frail, full of fear and ego. For the ego to live, others must die. Until we help ourselves and release ourselves from the prison of fear and ego we cannot help others and the world.
"Because I'm richer than you" ... A. Sad Soul
"The Age of kali-yuga" too shall pass!
Four chan, I disagree completely. In the late 60's and early 70's, people were actually doing something about the issues of the day. There were massive protests against the war, fairly maive civil disobedience against the draft and it was actually public opinion and action that led Nixon to finally resign. As for everyone on drugs, look around you. There may not be as many on illegal drugs right now (although I'd hesitate to even say that), but there are far, FAR more on legal, yet just as dangerous and just as mind alterting drugs.
The lack of consequences facing people being caught doing blatantly illegal things is, in my opinion, what has caused this complete lack of trust in institutions. Nixon, for all his failings, resigned. Granted, it was under pressure, but he resigned. Can you imagine what would happen today if Watergate happened? I dare say that people would likely say, "Ho hum, what would you expect?" and nothing would happen. And if it was Obama? Hell, the media would not only give him a free pass, they would say it was Obama's patriotism that led him to break in. You want another, more recent comparison? Look at the S&L crisis. A great many of the heads of S&L's actually were convicted and served time in jail. Jon Corzine steals billions from clients and he doesn't even get charged, much less go on trial or spend any time in jail.
No, the 60's and 70's may have sucked, but the last 20+ years have just been deadly in terms of public confidence in any institution.
I guess neither of you understand the power of the human heart, depression, and the loss of hope....
Evil & Greed are driving the world into this great depression, nobody trust the Robber Barons et al....

Or as Don Henley said in a song... "What the head makes cloudy, the heart makes very clear..."
(Quote from this song... >>. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pE4m82EJ-Vo)
It continues because as depressed and anxious as everyone is they would rather have it the way it is than risk losing what they have through change, no matter how right that change is. Most of us are full in on this corruption. It's not like we have to be a bag man. All we have to do is go along....to get along.
Not a new concept. This has all happened before, and this, too, shall pass.
I am Chumbawamba.
And when you think about how our economy is organized, how that is tied into how government operates, you understand why most people are going to behave this way. Most people don't think beyond the next paycheck, or the next quarter, or the next year. Start thinking about the next decade, and the conclusions are pretty bone chilling. Bring them up, and people will accuse you of being nuts. Start hammering them with cold, hard facts and many don't want to hear it. If I lived in NYC, yeah, well, I wouldn't, but if I did, I suppose that I wouldn't want to hear it either. Because there is a very good chance that those people are fucked. But where I am, there are potential solutions. But people won't want to hear them.
So you find some other way of encouraging people to learn. If you know that somebody is into "organic" food, let them taste something out of your garden. While things are functioning, you want to convince people that they can do a few things for themselves. It aggrieves me to no end that the most commonly grown home food is the tomato. This is mainly because I cannot eat fresh tomatoes as they make me sick, though cooked ones don't. But I'm growing several melon plants and several watermelon plants. Some will be given away. I want people to taste something that was ripened on the vine.
I'm growing carrots, onions, radishes, beets, summer squash, spinach, Swiss chard, and yes, tomatoes!
90% wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a pitchfork and a salad fork.
All too real, a travesty really...
We must not allow our idle time to be occupied with such violent thoughts.
The pitchforks almost came out in Abq. last year. APD hasn't shot as many people here lately. I went down and watched the mob. It wasn't scripted. I think it scared APD.
Perhaps most people just want to "work in the yard. Pick up the dog doo, hope that it's hard.

Old wood, had to sign in so could up vote you . Hit it square on the head.
Yes, Satan is involved in this, on both "sides".
Limbaugh was trying to blame things on Obama this morning, but that is his balliwick.
The false Left/Right paradigm distracsts at least 66.6% of the populace - coincidence? I think not.
When we accept that we are powerless against lies that tell us what we want to believe, we are left with no choice but to assume the best and most effective liars are acting at the behest of the devil, which they are. Our only defense against the evil that exists in all men, is the recognition of that evil, and if to do so requires we put a face on it, so be it.
Ultimately it is we who we are battling.
It is ultimately we who elected and enabled these people.
It is we who have bought endless foreign goods and hired illegal labor that ensured our jobs would abandon us.
It is we who have demanded security from our government in the belief that ALL costs would be borne by others.

Berkeley,California.
Motowns "Four Tops" tour bus pulled into address for a show that weekend only to find a riot/Viet Nam protest "Going On".
"Obie" Benson, one of the Four Tops, got up at a window and said "What the hell is going on man, What's going on?
That stuck in his mind and later he and a guy named Al Cleveland penned "What's going on"
Obie then took it back to the other "Tops" to record only they told him "We do love songs, nope.
Obie and Al then gave it to Marvin Gaye to produce and he did only to find out Barry Gordy would'nt release it.
Marvin was under contract @ Motown Records to record but went on strike for 6 months 'til it was released behind Barry Gordys' back by another executive named Smokey Robinson. Smokey sent it to 100 U.S. radio stations and issued 100,000 records. Did the same the next week. And the next.
At the begining of that song you hear "Hey, what's happening, How's it going"
These are members of the Detroit Tigers who had just won the World Series and Marvin invited them to sit in the recording of "What's going on"
That recording was the only time the studio musicians "The Funk Bros." were ever given credit on the record produced, yet they were all over Motown musicians recordings.
Hey James,
My cousin played the soprano sax for that album. Marvin Gaye, I am told was a great guy, and gave jacket credits to his musicians, unlike many others. The Funk Brothers are still great. Catch Joan Osbourne on youtube with them.
Yea, hey James.
You forgot to close quote.
-->"We do love songs,nope.
So you lost me right there. Too distracted to continue I guess.
This whole reality is an illusion.

I second that! The entire UNIVERSE is a fucking illusion (i call it a simulation). Thanks for saying it!
As fast as the Soviet Union turned inside out in the late '80's -America will be transformed. The petrodollar ticket-the License "to do as thou wilt" - has been pulled.
All of a sudden all the Federal Fantasy's and Fiction will dry up and disappear. And it will happen faster than the drought enveloping the Southwest.
The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.
This System was never Fixed and so how can it be broken?
au contraire, the system has always been fixed

Written in 1975, The Market For Liberty has been converted to audio book format. "This brilliant book explains why government is an unnecessary evil and how the Free Market is superior in every possible way." It is a stupendous descripotion of the Government vs. free markets. I approve of this book
If by ensuring it remains broken is the fix, which is not contrarian to my belief that it's been broken from the get go!
JPM/Rothschild would argue that the system functions as'they' intended it too ; to their advantage and you would be correct that it's to my/your disadvantage and is therefore fixed in their favour.
However from my perspective ( and Experience ) the System has always been broken as it creates unfair advantage.
We are both then correct as for the system to be broken it would have had to been fixed in the first place and then broken.
If i'd used 'Functioning' instead of fixed in my question again it emphasises something has always been broken/amiss.
Again not contrarian but concede ' the system has always been fixed ' Adjective/Verb.

Just part of the plan to sell a "new system". Paging Karl Marx, please recommend corporate oligarchs to provide the "interim" dictatorship of the proletariat! Paging Stalin, we need recommendations for a nationalized police force, the new NKVD. Its all coming together. Hey, selling a new system worked for Adolph. Economic collapse presents a really sweet crisis not to be wasted.
FORWARD SOVIET!
They speak like Marx
Rule like Stalin
And live like Rockefeller
While the people suffer
Cant fix a system that built broken.
institutions do nothing, people accomplish
everything. 100% of the people should know
that to be 100% true.

@""The System Is Broken": Americans No Longer Believe In Its Institutions"
do you see the problem here? it is grammar, misuse of the
language results in confusion and inability to comprehend
context and meaning. the problem in the above sentence
arises with the use of the word "its". the word should be
"their". the word "its" objectifies the people that supposedly
constitute the "body" portrayed as "americans". that creates
a faceless and non existent entity which has no responsibility
or corporeal existence. it is a fiction. the sentence then
bemoans the broken fiction, well, who gives a fuck about that,
really? no one.
if the word "their" were used then the "americans" might
be concerned that their system might be broken. the problem
with that is "americans" don't have, and never had,
a system that was theirs. it has always been a system that
was imposed on them by foreign owners. that is all we ever
knew. yes, people have learned to fear it and love or
hate it but the control system was never of the "american"
people. that is merely a jingoistic illusion perpetrated to
facilitate mass exploitation by foreign and local owner/investors.
the banksters. america has been the money system basis and financial
playground of the old world since its political inception
with few and far between periods of relief, based on
genocide and slavery in one form or another to date.
etc., etc .....
but humans are plastic, infinitely flexible and
adaptable. it is survival in an evolutionary milieu
where the species sees fit to systemically and
institutionally prey and practice parasitic
behavior upon itself. i see it on the t.v. all the time,
in the movies and papers too. those are also american
institutions openly exploiting everything and everyone
in every conceivable way every second of every day.
it is as if life were merely a fucking carnival,
perhaps it is? but have some freakin' decency along
the midway, no? perhaps not?

Our best hope at a better world should start
at arresting Lloyd Blankfein and Jamie Dimon and taking over the central banks.
Our institutions have become prostitutions.
TPP is a watershed moment. The small fraction of people that still believe in politicians, of any stripe, just realized they do not matter.
The political class no longer even bothers to fake it.
But we desperately need an all encompassing trade bill that includes global warming initiatives and multitudes of sovereignty destroying regulations to continue on with our long history of stupidity.
These fucking Republicans stand before us claiming we need this so much and they would NEVER sign and into law something destructive much less against our will. I do not believe e for a second that they will refuse to pass ANY bill Obama has negotiated, regardless of their stated OR real objectives, as they are demonstrable cowards in opposing any of Obama's agenda. They have ZERO credibility and we know from history as well as ALL recent evidence that this will end very badly for all of us.
I doubt its cowardice. Id say complicity is the real answer.
Congress got those down votes the old fashioned way: They earned them!
Rather than say Americans don't believe these institutions, the better question is to ask why these institutions are failing America? Americans don't believe because there are good reasons not too!
I know this is cliche already but I would have squashed this article idea in one sentence: "The system isn't broken, it's designed this way"
I actually consider myself to be under attack by 'the institutions' here in the USSA. I trust none of them, and no one from them. I feel no need to obey, comply, etc...I'll do all I can to keep as much as I can out of their hands...
Another lost chance to focus on the corruption.
While you blame "the system," you neglect the root problem.
When you neglect the root problem, then certainly "the system" fails.
When you declare "the system" "broken," you will be receptive to alternatives...
and that's how it all falls down -- ignorance.
The root is concentrated unaccountable power, they thing that ALWAYS provides fertile ground for corruption. It just pays too damned well, and like all ponzis, it cant survive if everyone is in on it. It is the theft of production, and while it's pure weight of loss is harmful, worse still is the damage it creates by inducing others to follow its path. More and more pile in seeing the futility of work and effort and HONESTY....the things, the ONLY things that can produce prosperity. Trading stocks, gambling produces nothing but greed for unearned wealth....or theft of productivity. Not a damned thing different about it from the casinos lined up to fleece the common laborer of his weekly earning.....offering just a chance at something for nothing.....and typically leaving with nothing. Many believe that this can go on indefinitely, that they can just print and borrow to infinity, but this is false, for what is lost is productivity...the thing that provides our food and shelter........
There is much that can be improved, undoubtedly. But try to grasp some historic perspective and realize that the standard of living enjoyed by the 99% of American's "on the bottom" and "not part of the elite" is freaking hundreds of times improved over 99% of the lives of every human being to ever exist on this planet. MOST cops are trying to do their best to protect good people from bad people. MOST politicians are trying their best to serve their constituents. MOST CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, COOs, Directors and Managers are trying their level best to build and sustain a good and decent business that serves customers and takes care of employees. MOST parents are trying to raise their kids right. Get some perspective before you sink into the abyss.
Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent. Still works for those who dare adhere to it.

Reform will not happen willingly by an alert and well-informed public, because that doesn't exist. If people didn't have their collective head up their arse, we wouldn't be in this situation. Real reform is only possible when the giant reset occurs.
When food stamps stop working, they'll be reform. When the store shelves are empty, they'll be reform. When the green paper tickets in everyone's wallets don't buy shit, that long awaited reform will happen.
The question is: what kind of reform will we see? Will it be a 21st century version of the American Revolution or rather one resembling the French Revolution? I'd prefer Tea Party 2.0 to Napoleon 2.0. Either way, the status quo is not long for this world.
Hope and Change. Yes we can.
No we can't,
Fuck em all. I am an Objectivist and take care of myself. Ayn Rand was right 50 years ago.
Objectivists will not survive if they stay in the game. Rands point about Galt's gulch was that our survival required us to extricate ourselves from the matrix and would be the only thing that could actually change and save what is left of the world. Redistributions will fight this more fiercely than any other threat. They are trying to close all financial avenues of escape internationally and domestically. Much of what the NSA is about is tracking the money. Putting us in jail for bitching too loudly creates little reward compared to locking down our productivity. Galt's Gulch is quickly fading as an alternative.
There are no perfect solutions, but the one most effective, in my opinion, would be to gather ALL the names of Democrat registered voters and forbid them from voting for at least 20 years. That is the minimum time that it would take to restore the Constitution, get rid of pinko activist judges, and reduce the Marxist Billionaire traitors and subversives to penury, living on the outside of town in trailers.
But that would take a coup, comprised of the Middle Class with the military on board. Ancient Rome, Attaturk's Turkey had a provision of emergency provisional military dictatorship that was short termed for the salvation of the nation and culture.
Cutting throught the chaff, crap, and agitprop lies and disinformation about August Pinochet, his actions saved Chile from becoming Venezoouela or Arjunktiny. Like Margaret Thatcher, G-d rest her soul, my admiration for this Churchillian man knows no bounds.
Applying the death penalty liberally with an efficient instrument, e.g., the guillotine, would at least slow the death spiral of United Socialist States of America.
Mariner there is no republican or democrat there is no red or blue. They are separate wings of the same party.
Not even separate wings; they're two teams with common ownership.
There is no spoon ....

if true Im disapointed in my fellow americans.
They should be all single digits.
if true we got many more years of misery.
ZH you suck as usual. I think im done with you, Tyler.
What did folks expect when they allowed sociopaths to head up their organizations. There's nothing wrong with the institutions themselves when the Snakes In Suits are removed. The real question is: Does the majority have enough guts to stand up to the bullies (sociopaths) within their groups? Nah. They're worse than sheep, collectively. That's why we go through this nonsense ever so ofter. Sometimes The Dragon Wins.
Congress, THE ONLY TIME THEY GET TOGETHER TO PASS A LAW IS WHEN IT COMPLETELY THROWS AVG. AMERICANS UNDER THE BUSS.
presidency , THE ONLY TIME HE STOPS PLAYING GOLF IS TO PASS A LAW THAT THROWS AVG. AMERICANS UNDER THE BUSS, OR TO PUSH RACIAL CONFLICT AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EVERY TRAJEDY TO PUSH UNCONSTITUTIONAL LEGISLATION TO LIMIT OUR RIGHTS TO DEFEND OURSELVES....
Supreme Court, 9/10 LAWS IT UPHOLDS ARE UNCONSTITUTIONAL BY EVEN A 5 YEAR OLDS REASONING CAPABILITIES.
Banks, Yea! Banks! pffft you probably have to be completely brain dead to trust them.
Big business,? what Big Businesses, only Big Businesses left are . . . BANKS.
Organized labor, only people who trust Oraganized labor . . . are Organized Labor Bosses...
Newspapers, . . . Newspapers? Why aren't the all bankrupt like Radio-shack.
Television news, .... why are people still watching Television , its 95% commercials 5% poor quality TV show.... only time I turn the damned thing on is when people come by to watch NHL..... they been repeating the same 10 episodes of Pawn Stars for like 7 years already . . .
Police 57% hu? they must be "confident" that the police would shoot them given the chance...
PLENTY TO TRUST....WHAT COULD POSSIBLY BE THE REASON NOT TO TRUST THESE " INSTITUTIONS'?

This is the start of a cultural change that will eventually renew our country and our world. Eventually people will tire of the hypocrisy and corruption and it will become anathema to them. At that point no amount of corruption by the powers of the day will be able to take hold. People will simply turn their back on the corrupt elitists and shun them. No amount of money will matter.
Even so, I feel that we are yoyos, dancing to the cultural ups and down of someone at the other end of the string.
I don't know about that Bo. I seem to think that people tend to become immune to the corruption around them. I think they simply look at it as a cost of doing business, of getting in the game.
I can stop this. Running for President on GoFundMe.
Prepared to contribute but you're going to need some work on your name. jmaloy5365 doesn't have the right sound to catch the ear of the public. Maybe just j5 would do it.
On Financial Parasites and Predators
Posted on June 18, 2015 by Charles Hugh Smith — 3 Comments ?
Reform is impossible in a system optimized for centralized power and financial predators and parasites.
The problem with optimizing private gain by any means available is you also optimize financial predators and parasites. The problem with optimizing a system for centralized power (i.e. the federal government and Federal Reserve) is that you also optimize regulatory capture, influence-peddling and the unholy marriage of wealth and power."

The problem isn't the people losing faith in government institutions. The problem is that they will just look to fill the gap with some other incarnation of the same old failed bullshit. You can see it in the rising numbers of that knucklehead Bernie Sanders, who apparently, a lot of people are looking to as some sort of populist saviour of the working man. People who see the problems associated with government running everything, yet don't see the root cause and turn right around and call for even more of the same crap that got em here in the first place.
What they really need to do is realize that they don't need ANYONE micro-managing their lives for them and instead, scrap the whole power structure and replace it with nothing.
I know......ain't never gonna happen. Self reliance and self organization has been bred out of most of us, for the most part.
My thought is that morals have gone by the wayside.
Whenever people sacrifice their soul for money, self-interest for doing the right thing, they betray themselves (their true selves, their spiritual internal selves).
The Corzines may think they have "pulled a fast one" but they have shortchanged themselves.
God doesn't settle His books on the 30th of every month but the accounts will be settled.
"What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?" - Mark 8:36
As Warren Buffett said, his class has gone to war and they are winning.
The elites have gone to war against the rest of the population.
Looking on the bright side.
The 0.01% have gone to war against 99.99% of the population, what are their long term chances?
The odds don't look favourable and I think they will have a similar experience to Louis XVI and Czar Nicholas II.
With odds like that the elites are even more stupid than we thought.
What are you like at hand to hand combat Warren?
If you push Charlie Munger out of his chair he probably won't be able to get up again.
"The System Is Broken": Americans No Longer Believe In Its Institutions"
They are not the institutions of the American country or people, they are the institutions of the criminal occupiers of the American country, the DC US, and their masters, and the plunderers of the American people, Zion.
Liberty is a demand. Tyranny is submission.
Clearly i'ts NOT broken.
There are still some that Believe
And it's far more than the 1% club. So people in poverty must be the only ones that are believers. Which is odd, because it's the very people they respect that put them there.
Wow police still 52? That is a lot given they kill 1200 people a year. And kill someone's pet dog every 3 minutes.
I this case, they locked up a 24 year old kid for forging a $350 check and let him die of thirst and no food.
Still no names for the responsible.

I think the people just need more confidence! We have a confidence man in the white house, that should fix it. Four more ears..four more ears
"33 percent have confidence in the presidency."
So what?! You really think this means the masses are stirring? That 33 percent scare number means jack in 2015. You watch: come November 2016, 55 percent of the American electorate will turn out for the vote anyway. That's 132 million checked out, disconnected, gullible fools collectively screaming, "Yes! We believe in this model... give us more of this!" The Democrat wing will get 64-68 million and the Republican wing 62-65 million, while the other parties will get fuck all. That's plenty for TPTB to keep this thing going.
The 108 million who don't vote represent by far the largest slice of the electorate pie, but why should anyone listen to those who aren't buying into this corrupt plutocracy?
"The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness." - 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12

You fucktards are the most dangerous people on the planet because you believe the Revelations bullshit.
You actually believe that its all in the cards .
Ever hear of a self fulfilling prophecy?
Grow a fucking brain and stop being afraid to THINK.
Or you could stop being afraid to BELIEVE. Its not hard to see the folly in irrational following, but it is just as folly to ignore existing trends and cycles that also inform us that this can well end badly. It is the geniuses of our time who have guided us here by refusing to recognize or learn from history, much less heed the warnings of those thousands of years in our past. But I guess we have smart phones now, so everything is different.
Right, lets put down our smart phones and pick up your magic book ;/
Well, obviously a very very small minority of people are PROVING that we cannot behave properly, and must be restrained. This is the beauty of the concept that the good of one is outweighed by the good of the collective. The "one" is very easily identifiable, while the "many" remains an undefinable entity that only the collective "leaders" can report.
All complain except 0.1% but doing the same thing again and again without positive results is a definition of insanity and leads to nowhere. And the american electoral system, is insane for most of us. All pundits, dissidents proclame obvious truths but their solutions are ridiculous. Let's do something about.
As Stalin once said. It is not important who's being elected or who votes for who. What matters is who is counting the votes (Bush-Gore 2000, Bush-Kerry 2004). We should be counting votes if we want to win. The only choice we have for today is absolute boycott of elections as 150 millions of true American patriots are already doing and election after election vastly outnumbering electoral zombies of the single unified American Oligarch Party in their inhumane march into poling/feeding stations to get their rotten meat and in the process to validate murder and mayhem done in our names.
For those who still think they can organize and win "their" election. Here is a gem. The fallacy of this sort of democracy is nowhere better illustrated than in case of Italy where for over 30 years after WWII Italian communist party alone or communist/socialist coalition won EVERY national election and was never asked by president to form government resulting in 39 minority governments all under watchful eye of American protectors of democracy and US navy.
We have to organize internet based alternative elections on the same day with all the spectrum of candidates and platforms. Let's vote for platforms not cute personalities, or fake folksiness. With YouTube and using just standard polling technology w/anti-spam and encryption technologies like block chain it could work cheaply. It could be at least news making event bringing up alternative American voice to world public opinion proving fallacy of the recalcitrant crony system of power in US. Let's count our vote which has never been counted before and lets count voter participation in their election which cannot be hidden.
Hawaiian people have their own shadow government that legally (it is its own sovereign) operates on the island facing usurpation and aggression and occupation of its land. Creating open but shadow structures is a first step to changing sheeple mentality of millions of Americans. Can we be example for the world as during American Revolution (1776-1789) RIP.
Being liberal or conservative means just meaningless chatter and then to advocate choice of lesser evil, by lying that it is a choice and not extortion or blackmail reserved for slaves. Only radical ideas of true left and right and their implementations can bring political discourse to true national consensus and true regime change.
Otherwise, enjoy the puppet show.

The only candidates for whom one can vote are those that are selected for us....evil, evil, evil. Your choice is the lesser of 2 evils and still makes the "winner", evil. They've rigged they system so that only their filth are allowed to be the candidates. Who in his right mind would want to vote for any of them?
Interesting results. Pleasantly surprised to be honest (as a non-us citizen). There is hope (albeit, categorically not much)
Hope without action is an empty promise. Where do you see ACTION for change in today's society. Most are so self absorved by triviality, that it si beyone even hope. It may go down at any time, but after the Boomers are gone the -you know what- is going to hit the fan.
When the shit really breaks down, there are many more good people than bad people.
These good people will be forced, kicking and screaming if necessary to do what is right and restore the Republic.
If just a fraction of American active duty military and civilian veterans do the right thing and put their feet down, it's lights out for the bad guys.
Oh my goodness, you really dont get it:
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." - Matthew 7:13,14

"Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect." Matthew 24:42
No, its you Buybull thumping morons that don't get it. You need intelligent people to run a country., The USA is chock full of Buybull thumping knuckledraggers like yourself.
Get your ass into your Rapture Mobile and get the fuck off the planet. WE don't need you.
Every person who seeks to lead us believes in something. It may not be Christianity, but trust me even YOU have a god, it just may be yourself. Those who will lead us will gather all the power that they can accumulate in their hands to drive us towards THEIR god. Our supposed free and rational mind has been used to get us here, selling us some dream of utopia, of the impurity of man, that only THEY can moderate or correct. Unfortunately those who will aggregate this power to solve our problems inevitably always use it to destroy us, for that is always the answer their rational mind comes to. Christians understand our frailties and pursue perfection yet understand it will only be achieved in heaven. The progressives have the exact same goal but are content to abuse us into oblivion to create their heaven on earth, for we all understand what we battle is human nature. If we can't embrace and accept it, warts and all, then we must destroy it. Some one is always trying to save us, and when we fail to do so voluntarily, force or manipulation is the only route left to "leaders".
So tell us of your "buybull".
Das Kapital?
Mein Kampf?
I'm curious about his background too. I can't help but read his comments in a shrill, whiny, Hippy voice.
We already have "ingelligent" lawyers running this country (into the ground). What we need is common, ordinary people with morals, humility, and the unshakable knowledge of who he is, what the law of the land is, and his responsibility when he's elected--as a servant of his People. When we behave as though we are all under a higher law and are accountable to the Governor of the Universe, there is true freedom.
On the contrary, you do need us.....someone has to step up and behave with honor, integrity and humility. How about not participating in the division of the people of this country?
USG is the most dishonest, dysfunctional entity in the world
It's bad, not that bad... there are a lot worse out there.

The systems don't care if you or anyone believe in them. They have the military and police. The end.
A company of volunteers fighting for their farms and families are equal to a battalion of thugs, provided they have frugal logistical support and competent leadership.
One thing the US "Wars on Everything" has taught is that the various "systems" are generally run by unethical, immoral, corrupt, incompetent minions and that a few can make a difference.
That said, never underestimate your opponent and always win the battle before going to the battlefield.
Its the exact way Hydra wants it
ALL political power resides in the people themselves and we have the right to alter or abolish our government at will. The problem is now and always has been LAWYERS. It is this self anoited class that have defined and expanded those powers to the disadvantage of the individual. Power corrupts. And absolute power corrupts absolutely. So as the powers expand via legal theory, the pendulum swings to the absolute.
Williams observation was timeless. Want to restore the Republic? First thing we do. Kill ALL the lawyers.
We don't need to kill lawyers. We just don't need to hire them. It is we who have created and enabled this shit. We always want to blame the devil because it takes all of the blame off of us.
We were tricked!
We were lied to!
We were stupid!
We don't need to kill the devil as he is part of us. We simply must reject him and his constant advise to our destruction. Ultimately we are our only protector. There is no person outside of possibly our closest loved ones who will truly defend us. All others will use our weakness to THEIR advantage, even if it is only to make themselves feel better about themselves.
it's blatantly obvious that we are being manipulated. a demoralized sheeple are much easier to herd into a new world order. noticethe surprizing popularity of self avowed socialist Bernie Sanders who is running for prez.
Tyler, I appreciate the fact that you have identified the loss of Americans' faith in their institutions, which is an accurate and important observation.
It is interesting to note, however, that of all the institutions that you have listed (which is admittedly not exhaustive), confidence in the police has remained remarkably high, having dropped from 57% to 52%.
I would submit that in the world of mass discontent and disillusionment that you rightly highlight in your article, being able to hold on to a 52% approval rating might even be considered a remarkable achievement.
But wait, before you react to my statement and go on another tirade on how the police are “out of control”, as you have done in a disproportionately large number of ZH articles recently, the purpose of this post is not to offer unqualified defense of the police – as I think we should always be diligent with regard to maintaining a high standard of behavior in that service – and improvements can be made.
No, my observation has to do with what the police represent - as distinguished from the other institutions that you have identified. By and large, the other institutions are centralized, remote and substantially faceless institutions that have little or no direct contact with or accountability to the people.
As increasingly polluted by federal centralization of control as some law enforcement agencies have become (most notably in the larger cities, which further reinforces my argument) I think it is still quite possible to argue that the police, by virtue of their direct local contact with the people have remained more under the control of local government and more accountable to the people than the other institutions on your list. This is particularly obvious when they make mistakes – because the people are quick to criticize them and hold them accountable – which is good.
“That government is best which governs least, because its people discipline themselves. If we are directed from Washington when to sow and when to reap, we will soon want for bread.”
Thomas Jefferson
I can’t substantially improve on this thought.
Yet the police failures are providing cause for increasing federalization of their policies and rules. Like those who perpetrate violence against others by use of a gun, the exceptions are being used to provide the rule, the rule of a central power to restrict all of our actions for the good of the collective, that amorphous entity who's welfare can only be defined by statistics that are routinely ignored or denied.
I agree with your observations, but not the conclusions you draw from them. You state:
"Yet the police failures are providing cause for increasing federalization of their policies and rules."
Even if the police failures are wide-spread enough (which we could debate) to provide the adequate "cause" that you identify, you miss the point. Your statement presumes that "increasing federalization of their policies and rules" will address the problem - and it will not.
The suggestion that federalization will address the cause is the issue - yet by your comments you seem to ask us all to presume that this is a reasonable response to the problem. It is not reasonable - that is the point.
As soon as we abdicate our control of the police to the federal government, we have already lost.
Salvation begins at home. Do what you think is right for you and your loved ones and turn a blind eye to the oppressors in government and big business.
I live by my own rule, not those imposed by people I did not elect or those who came before me, though I generally am more honest and trustworthy of the most ardent "conservative" or "god-fearing" types.
I am not a hypocrite. I openly despise the system and work daily to cut through it, work around it, overcome it, cheat it, destroy it.
Obviously, I cannot do it all by myself, but I believe there is a quiet revolution occurring in America. Almost everyone I speak to knows the issues and problems, hates government, doesn't trust the media and is in some way practicing avoidance or defiance.
A TV show from a long time ago had a catchy phrase: "It's better to light one candle than curse the darkness."
That phase has given me faith that any time a non-GMO seed is planted, a person pays in cash and avoids tax, somebody turns off the TV or cancels their cable subscription, that those of us who actually, truly belive in and hold true American values are winning a small victory.
Now, I talk to a lot of farmers and rural people, not citified minorites, and, yes, we're a small number, but we are strong, we are diversified and we will fight rather than submit.
Many of the comments here are on the mark, but nowhere did I see the words, Withdraw Consent. Without the consent of the governed, an elected government has no power and cannot compel anyone to do anything.
Elections have become trite and useless since around 1980. Those who vote in them have not seen the light, that the people they elect may promise the world, but they are eventually co-opted by the sytem, and deliver to the public, less than nothing. Elected officials and civil servants are a net drain on the people and 90% of them should be eliminated.
Withdraw consent. Do not comply. Grow your own, make your own, work outside the system. Black and grey markets have never been more robust right now than at any time since Prohibition.
Personally, I don't care if the system continues or dies. I will survive on my own terms. There are more and more people dropping out of the system every day and some day we will have a changed world.
Politicians and bankers can kiss my ass. I am smarter than them, more defiant than them and can beat them at any rhetorical or financial game they wish to play.
Lean, read, buy some land, plant a few seeds, help a neighbor. Turn off the boob-tube. Quit your job, slash your expenses, get off the grid as much as possible and see how truly beautiful and enjoyable ife can be without the daily pressure to conform, earn, pay and slave away.
Best wishes to all. I've been on my own land for two months now (5.7 acres with a stream) and am loving it. I encourage everyone to kick the system out of their lives.
You can do it.
By and large, I am in agreement with all of what you said - it just may not be enough to ensure the survival of our people and our society.
My only concerns about it stem from the fact that much of what you advocate presumes that the world around you will remain stable if you abdicate from it - and not everyone has the financial option to do what you propose. There was a time in our history where the strategy you advocate would probably have worked without modification, but I am not sure that is true any more.
I would love to completely disconnect from society in some ways (this is why I agree with much of what you have said). However, I think that tactically we have to be aware of the fact that there are people in power who are unlikely to relinquish that power peacefully - just because we carve out a piece of the wilderness, hole up there, and "withhold our consent" - so to speak.
We have a cultural invasion from the south and a well organized group of cabalist's in power that may not believe any more that your consent is even required - especially if you happen to be of white European descent (which I suspect you are, based on the values reflected by your comments).
I applaud your attitude and most of your methods, but I have some concerns about execution and end game.
i am very pleased with those numbers. things are starting to look up.

If you don't believe in our institutions, we have an institution to send you to.
..."doubtful that its institutions can pull America out of its trough."
The institutions put the People into those troughs and will do nothing but what they have been doing. It is the People, who once again understand who they are, what their sovereign rights are and that any oath taker is the servant of the people. Period. No excuses, no deviations, they are entirely bound by the Constitution that was written for THEM to obey. Our courts, I believe, are the lynchpin in all of this. Once they took OUR voices from our common law courts (and substituted unlawful administrative/equity courts), took over our petit and grand juries, we no longer had any say in what's done to us. It is by the restoration of common law to OUR courts, the People's courts, that we regain our voices, our power, and our authority.
Any "law", statute, ordinance, code they impose on the People must be subject to the unfettered and untainted scrutiny of the people when judging a peer. The judges and prosecutors pack their petit and grand juries so that the judgements rendered are what THEY want. They tell the jurors what the law is instead of the people telling THEM what the law is. They exclude evidence, qualify it and prevent the accused from presenting evidence. These are NOT their courts nor are either juries THEIRS.
There is absolutely no accountability for anyone at any level of government unless someone has crossed another one of those bad actors. Our common law grand juries WILL and are beginning to indict these horrifically corrupted filth who are ruining lives.....you know who they are; they are legion. If you're interested, National Liberty Alliance is doing this grassroots work. I believe we're quite close to actually getting back into the People's courts.
Vive la liberté!
the confidence percentages shown are still too high.
"No one trustworthy is steering this ship – worse, no one may be at the wheel at all."
No one steering is worse? Why? If no one over rides us from UP THERE...then we can steer locally from DOWN HERE.
Why should I fear a corrupt, accountable local person more than a corrupt, unaccountable distant person????
As principle architect of the 08 crash, and the fourth turning of civilization, I can assure all that there will be no recovery whatsoever. All the banks in the entire World will fall like Lemmings in due course.

Look, practically everyone is convinced that the War Between the States, 'won' by the north is a good thing, a great victory.
While the truth is that this abomination of a conglomeration of widely diversified states over many millions of square miles is a complete and total travesty.
The seceession of the Southern states, if it had been permitted to go forward, endorsed, and agreed to without bloodshed of 1.2 million men and ruination of their families, by abe the tyrant lincoln, would have now seen at least a dozen countries on this part of North America and likely alliances along the northern border with canada, and mexico to the south.
ALL to the good.
There is no man, woman or group of 535 of them that can possibly manage this country effectively for the people who live here. It should have been broken up a hundred years for now all we have is a country run for and by an elite global bunch of gypsies, tramps, and thieves, running it solely for themselves.
What the hell is that matter with you human beans who cannot see this??
The system is broken? Really? What a surprise! 85% of U.S public are dullards, who have given the government too much power over the last 40+ years. A classic example of the lumpenproletariat giving power to the gubermint is the willingness of the retards who inhabit the United states, to accept the patriot act, hook line and sinker, in some deluded sense of patriotism in order to fight the abstract known as "The war on Terror". Oh the irony in the name "Patriot" act and we Brits understand irony better than anybody on this planet.
I'm almost getting to the point that the quicker the Yanks obliterate themselves the better off mankind will be. A nation of self-absorbed, myopic, 2nd amendment worshipping, anal retentives, who in their latest power giveaway to the Gubermint, have willingly accepted the brutality and militarisation of the police, because we don't view ourselves as the object of their brutality, in the demented short sightedness that the police will not use the same methods to oppress us, as they use on the blacks and the browns.
The U.S legislator is corrupt from top to bottom, with treasonous politicians beholden to their Zionist overlords, plundering you as we speak, enriching themselves whilst decimating the middle, working and underclass, because the lumpenproletariat has bought into to the divide and rule tactics of our elites. Republican vs Democrat are merely 2 sides of the same coin. In layman terms, they are 2 bum cheeks of the same f**king arsehole. The 99% have been taken for a ride, yet the deluded middle class refuses to see themselves in the same predicament as the working class and poor. There is no Eureka moment for the middle class, as race and Republican vs Democrat trumps common sense. A nation cognitively mapped and primed, that Pavlov himself would have been proud. In cockney rhyming slang, the only phrase that can sum up the American middle class is this. “You been taken for a mug”
This was an OK article but it omits some basic philosophical truths that many people are coming to understand, espcially Christian Americans.
I have to run for the Tums when I hear the phrase "the American spirit." and "the freedom of the individual."
I guess I recognize something fundamentally anti-Christ about the so-call principles of the Founding Fathers and "America."
Liberte and egalite is not what freedome and individualism and truth are.
