The market just tracks the trades for the day. If you try to conenct the market with any underlying logic, you will often be wrong. Unless you know the exact trades that are the big "movers" for the day, you will never know the real cause.
Positions of shorts ... not a big deal.
HERE is the deal. You can bet that the vultures at the top of the tree have already analyzed WHO stands to lose, if Greece goes down. They already know! They have already run sophisticated analyses of who is vulnerable. They already know where the losses are, and where the "good deals" wil be. This is already computed by the high-level vultures in the system. They know what bones to pick, they know what assets they are going after. They don't give a rat's fanny .. about whether the system survives. They just want profits for today (or next month).
