There is no way it's coincidence that as the Ds show such obvious political vulnerability that the Rs choose this exact moment in time to divide against themselves.

This is Kabuki Theatre.  ALL OF IT.  There may be two parties but there is only one agenda: kill the middle class.  As quickly and ruthlessly as possible.

Last I checked, Trump was 50/1 and My-Father's-Dick-Worked is 11/3. Hitlery was 11/10. I'll always put more trust in a poll that has skin on the line. The rest are manipulating punk pussy go-fers.

Thu, 06/25/2015 - 08:21 | 6232853 Thinkor
Thinkor's picture

Trump ranked #2 in New Hampshire, a very important primary state.  For him to be #2 after so little time in the race is striking.  He also beat Christie by an extremely high ratio (20 to 1 or something like that) in a recent poll in Christie's state.  I think Trump is just beginning to ramp up.  He will almost certainly be the  most interesting candidate since Ross Perot, but this is in an era much more likely to be looking for someone like Trump or Perot.

It's hard to believe the nation would ever go for Bush III after the disaster that was Bush II.  Bush III is an average politician with a superior base of support.  He will not do well in debates.  I expect him to fade rapidly because of that.  I think Trump is more likely to face a challenge from Walker or even Paul than Bush III.  My personal preference is Paul, but Rand is already getting the same treatment from the media as Ron got.

Forget Cruz.  His poll numbers aren't good, he's not a great speaker, and he's not a natural born citizen except maybe of Canada.

All this is assuming there is actually going to be an election.

Hill and Bill are too big for their britches.  They think they have outgrown the reservation.

TPTB place a premium on control and Bill was the B-Team who snuck past Bush 1 only because the FED couldn't cheapen money fast enough to offset the Recession at the time.  The result was it turbo-charged Slick Willie through the tech bubble and an illusion of economic success.  His payback to his Masters: the destruction of Glass-Steagall that has served the Ponzi ever since.

Hegelian Dialectic says Hope and Change but the R version this time.  No one in their right mind would buy Trump or the fraud that would deliver him. I predict Cruz v. Hillary with scandal on Hillary at the end delivering for Cruz and The New Populism! who is a product of the CFR regardless of what anyone contests...but if he is a credible authoritarian, it will move their agenda forward in the next period that will be challenging for them as well as the average citizen.

1. I think Bush, Graham, and Rubio belong in the Christian Conservative set.

2. I think that, in a Venn Diagram, noone is on a line.  Everyone is INSIDE a set.  Therefore, Christie, Graham, Fiorina, Kasich, Jindal, and Perry don't get to be on dividing lines, the way the picture shows them.

3. I think that, in a Venn Diagram, everyone in a set is in an equal position.  So, for example, Huckabee and Santorum, in the Christian Conservative set, are right next to one another.  Huckabee is not "more" Christian Conservative than Santorum.  (And, again, I think Bush, Graham, and Rubio belong in that set.)

4. Funny how Paul is shown outside the Tea Party set.  I thought Ron Paul was the first one to actually throw bales of tea into the harbor, and has been throwing bales of tea into the harbor for decades, and is still throwing bales of tea into the harbor.  Walker, Cruz, Perry, and Carson, not so much.  But perhaps that just means I'm a bit disappointed right now with the Tea Party.

Surely noone was more Establishment than George W Bush.

So then I move Jeb Bush, Lindsey Graham, and Marco Rubio to the overlap of Establishment and Christian Conservative.

Better yet, I move Christian Conservative INSIDE Establishment, so that it is a subset of Establishment.  Isnt' "conservative", by definition, wanting to continue whatever has long been established?

I think of "Establishment" Republicans as those who want the New York Times and dominant media to give them a pat on the head and say nice things about them, like "they're bipartisan".

"Christian Conservatives" are definitely NOT establishment.  They are an embarrassment to the establishment.

If you draw a horizontal line across the centre of that blob-chart, those above the line lean towards statism and those below lean towards libertarianism.

I count only 5 below the line (Perry, Walker, Cruz, Paul, Carson) with 10 being above it.

Which means that a lot of Repubs are statists - how you say: RINOs, just like their comrades in the Democratic Party. What a surprise. Not.

I wouldn't classify them as "statists"; I would call them "crony capitalists" who are more than happy to have the state as a customer.  State money spends just as well as free market money.

Well, I really like Ayn Rand and Ron Paul.   So, I've got to go for Rand Paul.  His flat tax proposal will certainly put tax lawyers out of business and most lobbist too, so that's the best reason to support him.  And also, goodbye TSA and NSA and the Dept of Education.  All good reasons to support him.  Starve the beast is the only way to control .gov.  Evade taxes at all opportunity.  Pay cash and barter.

Walker!!! It is the candidate most agree on and he wins all the time. He is the only one that governed more conservatively and more libertarian than he campaigned.

Id settle for Kasich. I think he could win

I think "Establishment-Moderate" pretty well characterizes Kasich.

If that's your cup of tea, he's your guy.

Where would you put the circle for "Corrupt" on this diagram and would this circle really look like a mutant potatomorph dick?

Anyone can be corrupt.  Heck, everybody is a little corrupt.  "Let him without sin throw the first stone".

As far as I can tell there is only one name in there that can claim to be part of the bloodline, so that should make it really simple.  And I'll bet the baffoon from Newark, NJ won't even declare.

I would put Cruz slightly in the Libertarian bubble.

I would put Cruz squarely in the Libertarian - Tea Party - Christian Conservative bubble.

The diagram doesn't allow that, however.

Unless they convince me otherwise, only a small handful of these candidates are strong enough to stand up to the Boehner/McConnell wing that controls the Republican Party. I would list Paul, Trump, Cruz and Walker. It looks like Rubio sold out on the trade bill in exchange for campaign money. The rest ARE establishment or are not strong enough personalities.

Walker sold us out on the trade bill too.  He endorsed it a day or two before the House voted.

You need to include a left wing circle and shift some people over in that direction.  Some of these Republicans are not moderate unless you believe what you hear in the media.

Left wing might be giving taxpayers' money to poor people, whereas right wing might be giving taxpayers' money to rich people.  Smarter to err to the right.  Poor people can't afford to make campaign fund contributions, and many poor people don't even vote.  Rich people vote and make contributions.

Interesting. Perry is the only candidate where three philosophies intersect. This is how democracy works, right? The object is to be all things to all people. What a joke!
