On that note, I went over to the App Store and typed n Gettysburg and just in the few seconds I scrolled through the apps, there were six of them that had the Confederate flag included in their icon. Apple's free to do whatever the hell they want; after all, it's their site. But if they're going to do something stupid, at least they could be consistently stupid and delete all the apps that refer to flag or to the Confeeracy.
But why stop there? They should deleted Ken Burns' documentary, the Civil War. It has Confederate flags in it. And what about all the games and movies about World War II that have swastikas or rising suns in them? Surely, those are just as offensive to the descendants of the 6 million Jews killed or the countless thousands (million?) killed by the Japanese in China and Southeast Asia.
And while we're at it, perhaps books displaying the Confederate flag or discussing the Civil War should all be burned. Hell, because some of the Founders and their ancestors owned slaves, I think we should just declare that all historical references to anything prior to the Voting Rights Act should be declared illegal to possess or view. Let's just go full out retard here folks.

MYTH - The Confederate Battle Flag represented the Southern Nation.
FACT - Not true. While the Southern Battle flag was carried into battle, the Southern Nation had 3 different National flags during the course of the war.
The First National flag was changed due to a resemblance of the US flag.
The Second National flag was subsequently modified due to the similarity to a flag of truce.
The Third National flag was the adopted flag of the Confederacy.
The Confederate Battle Flag was never a National Flag of the Confederacy. It was carried into battle by several armies such as the Army Of Northen Virginia and the Army of Tennessee. Was also used as a Naval Jack by the Confederate Navy.
The "government" has not been legitimate since Lincoln's War. When the southern States' contingent walked out of congress and congress adjourned "sine die" (without a day), congress officially dissolved. They never had a lawful quorum so never lawfully reconvened.
It was Lincoln ruling by decree back then which is the basis for all actions since. He ordered congress to do certain things under martial law (military rule). He even had the governor of New York arrested for opposing certain decrees.
We have had a corporation ACTING as government since 21 Feb 1871.

That reminds me of budgets back in the days of the initial AIDS hysteria. Each subgroup had to have its own "educational" budget. 1. There is no doubt there were many fine and noble soldiers fighting for the south, just as there were many fine and noble soldiers fighting for Nazi Germany. The virtue of the soldiers does not negate what causes they were supporting, in this case treason and slavery.
2. There is also no doubt the battle flag was little known to most Americans until the 1960s when fine groups like the KKK and John Birch society resurrected it in response to the civil rights movement. Since that time it has been a blatant symbol of racism with a thin veneer of respecting the Confederacy as a historical touchstone. If that were the true reason they would have used the actual Confederate flag.

If they were intelligent, they'd be careful what they wish for. But they're not.
You can only break so many crosses off war memorials and tear down so many Confederate flags before the bullets fly.
Unfortunately, "We the People" can do nothing about anything anymore. "We the People" were asleep at the wheel while they took our very own tax money and instead of using it to build bridges, fix dams, maintain seaways, rivers and highways, took it to build new spy agencies and an anti "American People" Police and Military.
All this while we were watching foozball, nascar and ozzy.
Kind of ironic.

the only argument i have heard is that the "union" aspect
of the civil war amended their slaving ways so the stars
and stripes no longer offend the conscience of the non
protestant, non white "minorities". what needs looking into
is all of this and the presumptions and assumptions that
don't stand up to observation, historic or contemporary records
nor economic/trade/financial consideration. as slavery, via
"debt money", replaced outright and crude chattel slavery starting
in the mid 19th century and that is the hidden truth of the matter
that must be addressed, understood and resolved before stupidity
destroys everything. maybe a discussion for a future date?

The Confederate Flag is racist and always was racist. Removing racist symbols from the government buildings and lawns; corporations choosing not to be associated with racist symbols; these have nothing to do with erasing history. Does the state have to have monuments to every horrible thing the state did, because if it doesn't, it will be accused of erasing history? Grow up. I don't think you get it. I don't own a confederate flag. I don't support any form of oppression. This includes the oppression we're seeing about this flag. I'm not a fan of the NAZIs either, but I don't support their oppression.
Tolerance isn't limited to people who think like you, that's the opposite of tolerance.
Those who erase history, shall repeat it.
