Speaking of trade agreements, a thought dawned on me. Remember the scandal of how it was revealed to be legal for congress to insider trade? After this was made public, Sen. Scott Brown introduced the Stock Act which made it Illegal for that practice to happen, which was enacted but gutted by congress shortly thereafter.
With these trade deals being done in secret, I wonder how many members of Congress are, or are about to, make millions on the information contained therein?
That should piss some folks off.

On Monday, President Obama quietly signed a bill repealing the major provisions of the much-touted ethics law known as the STOCK Act.
Passed in 2012 after a 60 Minutes report on insider trading practices in Congress, the STOCK Act banned members of Congress and senior executive and legislative branch officials from trading based on government knowledge. To give the ban teeth, the law directed that many of these officials’ financial disclosure forms be posted online and their contents placed into public databases. However, in March a report ordered by Congress found that airing this information on the Internet could put public servants and national security at risk. The report urged that the database, and the public disclosure for everyone but members of Congress and the highest-ranking executive branch officials—measures that had never been implemented—be thrown out.
The government sprang into action: last week, both chambers of Congress unanimously agreed to adopt the report’s recommendations. Days later, Obama signed the changes into law. The meager coverage was a striking counterpoint to the waves of media attention that accompanied enactment of the STOCK Act in April 2012—310 articles in the two weeks surrounding its passage, according to a search of Lexis Nexis. Just as striking is that none of the reports on the partial repeal consulted experts who could answer the question at hand: did the disclosure rules in fact threaten individual or national security?

Well, as there is no independence in internal affairs (the definition of a federation), the EU is no "federation" and is all "Con".
This about sums it up for me today Bill. Suddenly realised how addicted I have become to ZH and twitter to get the news and hang over the PC every minute. Gone are the days of leisure waiting for the 10 o'clock news summary in the evening with interviews with accredited sources. The family sitting together and discussing the topics.
I am now semi-retired in Greece for 8 years, prior to that worked 5 in Cyprus and variuos places Singapore, Phiippines, US, UAE, India and of course UK (law enforcement IT).
It disgusts me now even ater the relatively short time I have been here and the even fewer times I have been compelled to make a statemet of my feelings, but the racist, trolling remarks and shills trying to profit here have become intolerable.

I know there are plenty of people out there who have resigned themselves to lurking. I miss their participation here. But there is the issue of personal well being. The negative life force in the news posts and the comment interactions can be overwhelming. With other real world matters to attend to daily it is a fair question whether you want to engage all that negative energy in your r&r time.
I do appreciate all who regularly post thoughtful comments under my posts. You will notice that I am not a stickler when it comes to staying on topic as long as the posts are interesting. In fact I encourage it.

You sure hit the nail on the head. I was not and will never be a prolific commenter, but I was getting so depressed and burnt out from the news that I partially disengaged for quite some time. Even as a lurker, I always checked your contributions because they are tongue in cheek, and sometimes you really need to laugh at some of the madness and mayhem.

The whole project is ego driven... no different to every war (hot, cold or financial) that has ever been fought... what amazes me is how the bullshit continues on in this Fiat currency, nothing is as it seems, upside down world.. Although I have some small sympathy for the Euro idea, and even more for Germany, this is really outstanding. William doesn't pull any punches. No cow is sacred.
I feel kind of sorry for the Novorossians choosing the rebel flag. How could they know that a flag that once stood for self-determination, honor, and a noble but losing cause would be revised into a despicable symbol of slavery and oppression?
Although some of William's creations are reminiscent of National Lampoon or even Mad Magazine(I loved those magazines and love those efforts, as well, and I may even be missing any deeper symbolism), this one probably has at least 2 levels or angles. Those appear to be Ukraine's colors. I suppose that great art allows for individual interpretation.
Perhaps, using logic and some actual intelligence, it might be preferable and more sustainable for Europe to tell the US to take its Nukes back home, dump Greece and bring Russia into the EU with China as an associate?
