When asked if they would like to purchase a 10oz silver bar (worth $160) for just ten bucks, every single one refused... one even refused to handover a half-drunk Starbucks coffee for the silver bar.

First off, they don't have $10. Second, you have to admit that whole approach is almost as shady as selling speakers out of the back of a van.
First off no one has cash would could be a real problem if their ATM cards stop working one morning. Second, there was a coin shop next to them and they could have verified it was real. They missed a chance to increase their investment with a ten fold return in seconds. Day traders don't have it this good.
People in the city are always trying to sell counterfeit watches and other nonsense. They just want you to get out your wallet so they can grab it and run.
The people in the video are probably just street smart enough to blow the guy off. Telling him you don't have any money is a smart move since he's not going to mug you if he thinks you're broke.
But, there is a camera on them, he has a camera guy with him, so yes it may seem like a scam, but he was willing to let them verify the silver was real at the coin shop. The one woman would not even trade the noodle bowl or the starbucks for it, he wasn't trying to get a wallet at that point.

All the POS terminals and ATMs were down for 300 km on the way home a couple of months back. Gas stations were still pumping for cash and I expect would have given me some for my silver maple if I hadn't had paper. Then again probably would have sold on an honour system too. ( as in "pay the next time you come through" ) Wonder how that would turn out in the same area the video was shot.

The reason that Gold and Silver always re emerge as currency with Value is that they cannot be easily cheated unlike, Bond market, Stock Market, fiat currencies, LIBOR etc etc.

The kid furnished his 1 bedroom apt. with a matching bedroom suite, sofa, end tables, chair and lamps, small kitchen table and chairs with an odd appliance or two for under $250. All stuff in very nice condition.

The way of selling is wierd. How can people trust this guy. If they sell this stuff in the coin shop, people will take it immediately. If it is solid silver not silver plated, I will take as many as they have as long as they can prove it is real. This is a matter of trust instead of anything else.
The seller's ascertion that it's "pure silver" is deceptive at best, fraudulent at worst.

This is the inherent problem in conducting business with people you don't personally know (i.e. virtually everyone in society)....you don't know if you can trust them or what they say to be true. So you must either make a leap of faith, or you look for a third party moderation of some kind (which is how we ended up with government in our business, unfortunately), or a publicly reputable enterprise (i.e. a coin store or brokerage/exchange/trade house).
So......according to ZH posters we should be going all in on silver right now when the richest people in the richest nation on Earth value it near $0 an ounce? Hmm.....better double down on my Facebook and Apple positions and short SLV and PSLV and GDXJ some more.
