How Much Is $160 Of Silver Worth To The Average American? (Hint: Less Than $10)

Tyler Durden's picture

Seemingly confirming the national new normal, dumbing-down-ness, the following clip shows Americans have absolutely no idea about the value of precious metals. When asked if they would like to purchase a 10oz silver bar (worth $160) for just ten bucks, every single one refused... one even refused to handover a half-drunk Starbucks coffee for the silver bar.

Mark Dice does it again...

Exposing the staggering ignorance of the average American even more, the clip was filmed right in front of a  coin shop.

We wonder what the same interviews would be like in China or India or Russia?

Soul Glow ~ This thread is YOURS ~ lol

Publicus's picture

This shows where true price support for silver is located if you remove price manipulation by the silver investors.

Soul Glow's picture

Baa baa black sheep have you any wool?

NoDebt's picture

First off, they don't have $10.  Second, you have to admit that whole approach is almost as shady as selling speakers out of the back of a van.

Soul Glow's picture

First off no one has cash would could be a real problem if their ATM cards stop working one morning.  Second, there was a coin shop next to them and they could have verified it was real.  They missed a chance to increase their investment with a ten fold return in seconds.  Day traders don't have it this good.

0b1knob's picture

People in the city are always trying to sell counterfeit watches and other nonsense.   They just want you to get out your wallet so they can grab it and run.

The people in the video are probably just street smart enough to blow the guy off.   Telling him you don't have any money is a smart move since he's not going to mug you if he thinks you're broke.

Ruger556's picture

But, there is a camera on them, he has a camera guy with him, so yes it may seem like a scam, but he was willing to let them verify the silver was real at the coin shop.  The one woman would not even trade the noodle bowl or the starbucks for it, he wasn't trying to get a wallet at that point.

philipat's picture

I would have had just one question. How many do you have?

greenskeeper carl's picture

i do enjoy these videos, and its funny how none of them have a clue how much it is worth, but a lt of it probably is just too many skeezers have tried to sell them shit out there before. Some other random dude pointing a camera  at them probably doesnt help.

Although on second thought, todays americans may well be the dumbest and most self absorbed bunch of morons on the face of the planet, so fuck it, they're all just retards...

He should have asked them to name three Kardashians

These videos are kind of funny but we think Mark Dice is a shill like AJ.

Waylon Bits (not verified) snodgrass Jun 26, 2015 12:24 AM

Teh we....

Soul Glow's picture

Yeah he's totally a shill for the NWO.  They're paying him what?   A few thousand dollars to provide these videos and write books about how the NWO is using banking to control the financial system.  Like that's not the truth!

I mean think about what you're saying!  He's not rich!  You think he's doing this for the NWO?!

You're crazier than me mayne.

Mark is Youtube's "family-friendly conspiracy theorist".  He believes Sandy Hook really happened and he viciously attacks those who say it didn't happen or was a hoax.  Every other conspiracy theorist gets their videos yanked off Youtube in hours and slammed with bogus copyright claims.  Not Mark, he doesn't have that problem!  What does that tell you... classic disinfo agent, mixing 1 part truth and 1 part BS!

N2OJoe's picture

I love the ones that wouldn't trade a cup of noodles or a half-drank starbucks for it!

Almost Solvent's picture

Usually with disinfo/limited hangouts it's 1 part truth and 3 parts BS! :)

& then again, most Amerikans are fucking stupid enough to have zero fucking clue what phyzz silver is worth.

daveO's picture

Then consider the selective editing.

Soul Glow's picture

Mark Dice says no one took him up on the sale.  I believe him.

The Steaksmith's picture
The Steaksmith (not verified) Soul Glow Jun 25, 2015 11:04 PM

I absolutely believe him. I've done similar things over the past few years (within my family FFS)... offered to sell phyzz silver for the equivalent value of their 'stock' positions in things like Green Mountain Coffee &, I forget that FOOD TRUCK IPO that was valued at something like a million+ dollars a food truck... I did it as a personal MUSE, btw, I didn't intend to go thru with it...

They all laughed at me... (Frankly ~ I guess they were right)... But it was all a joke on my part... NOT TO THEM...

I got my fucking brother right now... I've been warning hin for 2 years that he'd better be vigilant about reporting CAPITAL GAINS (for tax purposes) on these idiot stocks... His wife (my sister in law) is a fucking banker FFS... I guarantee you neither one is listening...

Either they'll be BROKE, or I'll be visiting them in jail in a few years...

Soul Glow's picture

Exactly.  People don't know the value in silver.  But then again they think watching the Kardsaions is a great way to spend their leisure time.

Antifaschistische's picture

sure...I understand your point....but they aren't saying "that's not real", or "it's probably just silver plated"

The point is...every single one of these people demonstrated 100% ignorance in the value of one of the worlds most tangible assets.

Perhaps if he were selling an ounce of rodium I would understand the ignorance on the street...but it's SILVER, and I bet if he were selling a one ounce gold Eagle for $60 (with a $50 face value) they would also have walked off without asking if he would take a debit/credit card.

of course, if he were selling a gram of marijuana for $10 that would have lasted about 30 seconds.

jeff montanye's picture

he tried the one ounce gold (canadian) coin, but for twenty dollars.  no takers shown.

i wonder how far up the economic food chain he'd have to go for different results.

ought to offer a share of facebook as an alternative.  that would would be interesting.  now to find an actual physical stock certificate of any corporation.

Fourmyle's picture

All the POS terminals and ATMs were down for 300 km on the way home a couple of months back. Gas stations were still pumping for cash and I expect would have given me some for my silver maple if I hadn't had paper. Then again probably would have sold on an honour system too. ( as in "pay the next time you come through" ) Wonder how that would turn out in the same area the video was shot.

DavidC's picture

Spot on. And I'd have loved it if Mark had TOLD them what it was actually worth after they'd all said 'No thank you'. I suspect their responses would be highly entertaining.

j0nx's picture

Agreed. That metal could be aluminum stock for all I know. Without a way of knowing it's real silver or coming from a reputable vendor then the whole deal is suspect.

Bunghole's picture

You obviously have never held a bar of bullion.

I can verify the content by pinging the bar.

The Steaksmith's picture
The Steaksmith (not verified) Bunghole Jun 25, 2015 10:10 PM

the ping is unmistakable...

FFS though, Americans mostly can't tell the difference between 1000tc Egyptian cotton & 'MADE IN CHINA' synthetic thread substitute.

jeff montanye's picture

and j0nx has been here four years.

that seems willed ignorance.

Soul Glow's picture

It sucks that when someone gets canned their archieves can't be accessed.

Will the world forget Dr Paul Krugman?
