to point out that the smell(odor) of the sea is actually
the rotten smell of the land where it meets
the sea, decaying life forms gassing off in the open air.
which brings me to the claim, something smells
fishy, and the question, is it the fish or the
particularly odorous gasses emitted by the bacteria
that specialize in digesting the flesh of the fish?

i caught that link the first time, thanks.
coincidentally, a friend of mine told me yesterday
that for about two and a half years, starting about
10 years ago, every so often a bird would appear
at his window in the evening and often into
the early morning. he never saw it but he heard
it loud and clear. it would say his name and variations
of his name. ant, antee, anty, anthony, antoni ...
the bird would keep him up all night.
like that, for two and half years; he has witnesses.
i know, it is all so freakin' hard to believe. especially someone
as bereft of imagination as myself, yet, i believe him.
for some reason it is just difficult to fathom.
