Ignoring Tsipras Plea For Calm, Greeks Storm ATMs, Stores, Gas Stations

Tyler Durden's picture

Just a few hours ago Greek PM Tsipras addressed his nation imploring then to "remain calm" and reassuring them that their "deposits were safe." It appears the Greeks did not believe him. Many were wondering where the Greek bank lines were for the past several months. Turns out the local depositors were merely waiting until just after the last minute to withdraw their funds... horde gas... and stack food. Greece, it appears is Venezuela - the new socialist paradise.

Tsipras implored: "Keep Calm...."

They did not listen...

Call that an ATM line...

Now THIS is an ATM line...

Even at the airports...

And gas stations are overwhelmed...

As grocery stores and general appliance stores come under seige...

We have seen this before - in Russia recently as the Ruble collapsed and citizens spent any and every piece of currency they had on 'assets'.

The great news for Greece is that GDP for Q2 will be sent soaring.

Simply put - it's all about inflation expectations. And unlike The Fed or The BoJ, who keep trying to jawbone higher expectations into their citizens' minds, the Greek government may have achieved it implicitly through devaluation expectations and with it - a spending spree before things get more expensive and implicitly a surge in GDP. Of course, however, the spending surge can only be short-term and will stop as soon as there are no more euros to spend.

"Greece, it appears is Venezuela - the new socialist paradise."

Apples and Oranges.

The Tylers, smart as they are (in some areas), are incredibly stupid and shockingly uninformed when it comes to Venezuela.

For what it is worth, I would love it if they applied the term "capitalist paradise" in every single one of their articles on domestic (i.e. USA) issues.

Sorry, doomsayers. The bureaucrats in Brussels, or the Fed, or IMF, won't just cave and slink away into history no matter what happens to Greece. There is a lot more can-kicking on the agenda. A lot.

Let us be clear: the generalised European model was not created in order to save Greece, but to destroy it. Europe’s future is already planned and it envisages happy bankers and unhappy societies. In the anticipated development plan, capital will be the rider and society will be the horse. It’s an ambitious plan, but it can not go far. The reason is that not one such project was ever completed without the consensus of society and the protection of its most vulnerable. It seems that the leading European elite has currently forgotten this fact. Unfortunately for them, they will have to face up to it sooner than they think.” - Alexis Tsipras, “The Destruction of Greece As a Model for All of Europe: Is This the Future That Europe Deserves?” in What Does Europe Want? Right. I am going long on a DEAD CURRENCY.

That is the same logic that European Banksters used when buying up a BANKRUPT ECONOMY's BONDS.

"But...but...but it pays 25% Interest. I need to buy MOAR. If I fuck up and Greece defaults then the depositors will bail my ass out. Wheeeee...I cannot lose."

Do'h. How do you think they arrived in such a position, yet again? The Greek propensity for selling tomorrow to live today pre-dates the IMF, the ECB and socialism. Socialism and Greek culture are a particularly unfortunate combination.

Boggles my mind the Greeks took so long to think about getting their money out of the banks. I guess in a socialist society they figured the government would do it for them, too. Oh, the government will get their money out alright, but not in the way they think.

You were texting back in the day because the average plebe could not afford a computer or a data line charge for email. Mobile phones were cheaper to deploy than in the USA because of the small size of the country and concentration of population. You can fart on one border of the Netherlands and smell it on the other side in a minute.

Many Western Europeans have a odd sense of superiority. Personally, I don't think what my country does is inherently better or worse than some other country, and I certainly don't think it somehow makes me superior or smarter than anyone else. Unless I personally created or participated in the creation of a situation or technology, there is nothing for me to take credit for or brag about.

Your statements really just display your ignorance. Each country - culture - nation - region has their own unique situation and conditions.

The Germans invaded Holland on 10 May 1940, total surrender by the Dutch High Command announced on the afternoon of 14 May 1940, signed on the morning of 15 May 1940. Your world can totally change in 5 business days or less.

Why is the USA so slow in implementing new tech to the masses?  and why are you against competitio and free markets?

There are over 10 different internet providers here and 8 cell phone companies.

I pay 19 euros a month for fiber optic (no limit) and 10 euros a month for 4G mobile plan.

Why do you have thousands of miles of interstate and can only drive a slow 70 mph?   I live 10 minutes from Germany and can cruise legally at 130mph+.  on smooth roads , no potholes.

This is the fate of others too.

When western countries became bankrupted, they always resorted to colonialism(aka looting) of other nations using divide & rule policy, murders, attacks & invasions and the end result was that they carried off (looted) all the treasuries of eastern nations.

Now also America & all its allies are moving towards total bankrupcy , so eastern nations need to be vigilant , remain united. Especially China is advised not to have belligerant & aggressive attitude towards its neighbors and accept the present situation and borders as the reality instead of having dream a bigger China which was 100 years ago or more. The eastern nations lack unity and thats why they look to west resulting in American military bases in east which is a sign of weakness, neo-colonialism and having potential of getting looted.

The eastern nations should keep their nuclear weapons ready if attacked by west. Especially the electronic equipments are vulnerable to EMP & Microwave , so simple weapons which do not require electronics would be more useful & will work in the modern warfare.

I hope the Greeks (and the rest of us for that matter) recognize that their show cannot go on--EVEN IF the troika miraculously about faced, and caved. They are in a hopeless, OWNED position as long as they are party to the EU anathema. Rigid control of member's fiscal matters is Brussels' aim.

They've pitted the other states against Greece to bring coercive peer pressure to bear on a laggard state needing their hard-earned support, when in reality, they're funding the master state who's calling the shots, along with the IMF. They need to realize that (any of them), THEY could be next, as increasingly, the EU is using Greece to amass and concentrate its power to regulate the internal matters of sovereign states. It sees it cannot survive without it.

Like a loan shark expecting "favors" just because you owe them money, the EU actually demands a sovereign state trim pensions (income that fuels sorely-needed consumer spending in Greece--even if from government pensions), and yet has not a single idea how to help that member create NEW income growth from new jobs and industry. Indeed, need creates enslavement; there are no New Deals from the EU for Greece to help wean them from social system dependency, and onto a real growth path that might enable them to retire debt someday.

Nope, just the shackles of bailout debt that will NEVER keep them from needing even more.

Greece needs JOBS, not merely more debt, and they are not some distant, unconnected land...they are a NATO-hosting member of the EU!

Does that mean something, Draghi, Merkel, et al...or NOT?

Why, then, would any member want to be part of your Union?

What purpose does such Union serve beyond Brussels?

Though it will be difficult, I hope Greece is prepared to go all the way with this, and gets the hell out of the EU; it's no good for them or their future. No matter what happens with respect to the troika's hard line, unless they have the courage to break with this madness, they'll never be free.

Would you rather be broke and free, or kept on life support and enslaved?

For the "cradle of democracy", that should be an easy question to answer.

In the 1990s the Wall Street masters decreed that their front line, the big banks, would control the previously independent smaller banks in countries like Australia (read all over the world because I mention Australia because I am Australian).

Labor Minister Bob McMullen signed the FSIA (Financial Services Industry Agreement) at this time on behalf of Australia and three things happened as a direct result of this secret agreement drawn up by the big banks on Wall Street.

1) ALL our big four Australian banks became foreign owned (read by the big banks on Wall Street)

2) 10s of thousands of bank employees JUST IN AUSTRALIA were fired by new American imported CEOs who were students of the big Wall Street banking systems goals and aspirations

3) when the FIAT system collapses, and it will, it will be because all roads lead to Rome - the big Wall Street Banks - who are a cancer that has now infected the entire FIAT system globally. When they collapse all our banks fail. The leveraging through various financial "tools" is so extreme that all it takes is Greece to refuse to honour its Euro Bonds and the pack of cards will fall. EVERYWHERE - CONTAGION.

The only secure form of money today is physical gold or silver.

THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES

People still had money in the banks there???

Not as though Tispras didn't give everybody lots of warning and lots and lots of time to get their money out. He couldn't just say take your money out people, instead he holds the line for a long time giving people ample opporunity to see the obvious.

"We have seen this before - in Russia recently as the Ruble collapsed and citizens spent any and every piece of currency they had on 'assets'."

In Russia people bought everything they can because RUB lost more than half of it’s value in few days and in every hour it was still losing more value. So that is reason why people in Russia bought everything they can. Because of fear RUB won’t have any value.

But in Greece people buy food and other stuff because of fear that Banking system will collapse and you will have to live with cash you have. But as there is put on limit 60 EUR a day – people don’t have much cash on their hands. So they rush to buy using their debit / credit cards in shops while they can.

So it’s completely different situation than Russia, still ZH as putin regime propaganda channel managed to twist it once again in order to produce manipulation that EURO could collapse because of Greeks existing EURO zone. Actually EURO will get only stronger once it get rid of this ill disease – leftist Greeks who are completely irresponsible in every way possible.

ZH once again proved to be putin regime propaganda channel.

RE

Just a few hours ago Greek PM Tsipras addressed his nation imploring then to "remain calm" and reassuring them that their "deposits were safe.

That is probably the worst thing he could of said.

lol at "socialist paradise".  That would imply the Greeks actually have control over their country and their finances.

Prepare for a false flag.  I'm betting it'll be a European airliner shot down and blamed on Russia.  The banksters will get their war and have an excuse to get the people's minds off the soon to come trillion Euro bailout on their behalf.

This has all been prophesied in the book of Revelation.  Woe to those who saw the signs yet did not take heed.

There is no panic that I have witnessed. People going about their business. Most know this is a political maneuver by EU. The shitty thing is the 24/7 propaganda on the TV and by politicians and the journalists they own. Will this be enough to sway a YES vote? That is a question everyone is asking.

There are fools of course in every group, so there are fools who are preparing for Armeggedon now by trying to empty shelves and gas stations (hint: you had at the least 5 months to prepare you fucking morons, now is not the time). These are the fools everyone is worried about that might vote yes.

The masks have fallen: you can see who is part of the corrupt old guard by their venomous reactions and voting against democratic expression through referendum: New Democracy, Pasok, Potami, KKE the so-called communists. Those for: Syriza, Anel, Golden Dawn.

How many months, and years, have they had opportunity to dig up dirt on Tsipras? And not a single thing can they find. Not even a hint of scandal. People notice this.

i prefer the 25:17 quoted in pulp fiction :

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

He is anothey myth you believe.  ''There are no atheists in foxholes''. Pure bullshit.  I never once prayed to some invisible guy in the sky when under fire in Vietnam.  (71-72).

Recently there was a BBC documentary about D-day landing and interviews with survivors (Brits). They asked if they prayed to some god.  They said NO, they didn't.  They said the guys shaking in their boots praying caught bullets right between the eyes.

You have a lot to learn and I doubt you have an interest in learning.  There is no such place as heaven and hell.   They are life conditions everyone has within them.    One person can be in hell on a nice sunny day and the person standing next to him could be in  'heaven'' (tranquility).

Its a shame you guys stop questioning and learning about life ., Instead look to some phoney hoax book written by Jews for answers.,

I can only imagine what it will look like in the USA when it is our turn. Imagine this stuff with an armed population!!  These folks are total fools. The time to stock up is long before you get to this point. If you had any substantial money in the banks when we get to this point you might be one of the dumbest people on the planet.

The USA will suffer a simular fate. You simply can not have an $18 trillion dollar debt and not get to this point. Stock up and stack up now.  When the sheep figure out that it is game over, it is to late. Use the 3B plan, Beans, Bullets, Bullion.
